Stealing Second

Rate this book
To live is to play the game, but for feisty upstart Rylon Pope life has been about sitting in the stands. Relationships never lasted long for Rylon, they always wanted or needed more than she could give. She existed in a thriving world of loving friends and family, but she was empty inside. The secret she carried always one step behind her; choking out every dream she's ever had about falling in love....Until an accidental rainy day encounter with an overbearing control freak with fuck me eyes named Damien Drake stops her in her tracks.
Damien, always the business man didn't have time to deal with anything besides business. The death of his father had done two things to his life, thrust him back into a city he hadn't lived in for over 16 years and put the weight of his father's legacy on shoulders. He didn't have time to fall in love, especially with a mouthy five foot three inch hellion in a pair of fuck me shoes.
Could Damien's own personal demons hold him back from his controlling ways long enough to capture Rylon's heart before her secret caught up with them both?

Damien is so forthcoming about his emotions, "I was imprisoned by his body heat and his fabulous scent. I could feel his breath caressing my ear. "I've never wanted to eff a drowned cat before." Damien's mind is just a playground for dirty thoughts, "dear God, black and red eff me shoes. My d*** wanted to come out and introduce himself to those shoes." When Rylon and Damien are together I loved it they were playful toward each other, "stop looking at me like that Rylon, it makes my d*** hard and I'm pretty sure I don't have time for another cold shower," I winked at her." When it comes to what Damien wants to do to Rylon that boy is vocal, "that look when you are thinking about us. Specifically, us effing." His tongue licked my earlobe. "I love that look and I love those thoughts. I have them myself, all the time." What I didn't like about this book is the cliffhanger I mean the book itself was long and at times it would just go on and on without and ending spot so to come to the actual end of the book with a cliffhanger shocked me.

Not what I expected

But in a good way. I expected it to be the guy playing baseball and going after the girl, but it wasn't that at all. Good story. Sadly this book didn't end like I thought it would. The boy and girl love each other, but sometimes it takes time for that love to show one or the other that they are meant to be together. Now to see where the go in book two! Read it - you'll love them!

This Book was a HOME RUN

It was long and the story was written from 2 POV, which was great. It gave me a better feel of the characters as the story progressed. I can't wait to read the next part. The ending was a real ???? indeed but the whole book really got me hooked on Damien & Rylon's story. I really want to know how it ends.

Wow, this particular book seemed to take FOREVER to get through and I read particularly fast. I am exhausted; I believe I may have received whiplash from the POV changes from paragraph to paragraph. The underlying story had a good premise as you see Rylon deal with the anniversary of father’s death and her ex’s abuse. Damien has his own issues to deal with; one of which happens to be jealousy. This book contains a lot of foul language and has a lot of sex only to leave you with a cliffhanger after 456 pages. It would have been a great book if the foul language and every other sex scene had been scaled back (don’t get me wrong I love sex scenes but there were so many it was overkill even for me). Also, I cannot stress enough that this book needs some serious editing and I do not mean just in regards to the POV aspect. As you get further on in the book it seems that it needs it more so. Sorry folks, this book only get a 2 star from me.

Good story, Damien has been through some tough life experiences but they haven't affected his ability to love Rylon. Rylon has had some even tougher times than Damien and they have deeply affected her willingness to give her all to Damien. Can't wait for Rounding Third.
