Thirty-four-year-old Blake Wheeler was everything Lila had ever wanted. A rising-star surgeon with his whole life ahead of him, Blake gave Lila ten perfect years of marriage before plunging her into the hardest year of their lives.
When a late night shooting leaves Blake in a coma, Lila is faced with a difficult decision: continue life support or let him go.
One year later, Lila remains unwilling to speak, in a private mental health facility where she refuses to move on.
Dr. Ross Reeves knows firsthand about loss, having spent the better part of five years burying himself in his work. Tasked with the challenge of breaking Lila's silence, Ross investigates Lila's past and her husband's death, finding more to Blake's murder than meets the eye. A series of mysterious coincidences has Ross wondering if Lila is acting out of grief or guilt.
Belinda Frisch has worked as a cosmetologist, a medical records auditor, and a real estate broker, but her lifelong dream is of being a writer. While other kids were passing notes in class, Belinda was writing creatively. She was the only person she knew who asked for the Writer’s Market for Christmas or had any idea what a SASE was. Her journal, and usually an Anne Rice novel, were her constant companions.
She has written poetry, short stories, novels, a textbook, and co-authored a screenplay when her novel, Cure, was optioned for film that one time. When Belinda isn’t writing, she is probably reading one of the many books that she keeps on rotation. She grew up in the Capital District and identifies as a New Yorker, even though she’s spent the last decade living in South Carolina, where she now writes full-time.

The Missing Year brought on an erray of emotions from me. Blake is being pulled in two different directions. He is being dragged down by the past. As he attempts to help Lila, Blake figures out how to help himself in the process.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The different dynamics between all the characters were very well written. I found myself laughing one minute and in tears the next. Once I got about half way through the book I couldn't put it down, I ended up staying up late just to finish this book. I would definitely recommend this book. A good blend of learning to live and letting go of the past. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.
This is the first book I've read by this author and what a fantastic surprise it was for me.
This is a really well written story about dealing with grief and trying to move on. Lila needs to make a heart breaking decision about her husband who is in a coma. Unwilling to speak, Dr. Ross Reeves, a psychiatrist, is called in to help her. Will helping her help him deal with his grief?
Really great storyline with characters that came across as real. With unpredictable twists and turns I was totally gripped throughout the story. Loved it.
This was a good book. There are lies, deceits and conspiracies but the main story is of grief and how it affects us.Lila is a grieving widow that ends up in the care of a psychaitrist because she has refused to speak for the last year. Ross, the Dr in question, has also suffered loss. Can he help her?Can they help each other? Julie Knippen does a wonderful job narrating this book. Omg get the tissues. I was given this book for an honest review and just let me say I can only imagine if I had to make decisions for the love of my life to live or die. Lila is just strong even when she thinks she weak. Dr Ross is sexy but broken as well Together these two help heal each others wounds without even knowing it. what a great book.
The Missing Year falls somewhere in the middle of all the audiobooks I've listened to. It wasn't my favorite nor was it my least. It sort of had a heavy lingering effect of grief. Understandably Lila is grief-stricken with the loss of her husband and remains in a catatonic state where she's put in an institution then has multiple suicide attempts and refuses to eat.
Dr. Ross also knows loss and has hope for her and tries several techniques to bring her around. He eventually breaks through and in the end, everything resolves once Lila confronts Ruth with a high powered attorney. I liked the characters of Camille and Maddie. Maybe not so much Camille but Maddie. This was a good story, just a little heavy on some 'details I don't need to know' category.
Julia Knippen did a terrific job narrating this audiobook. I really liked her characterization and I was very impressed with her performance, She showed great voice control and made this story. It was a good match. Great work.

Wow what a great book, I had this book in my Kindle now for a while and finally decided to start reading it and I am a bit upset that it took me this long to read it, because it really was that good..This book is full of deep sorrow and feeling despair and making heartbreaking decisions..Dr. Ross Reeves is a psychiatrist who goes above and beyond the call of duty, when it comes to his patients and he good at what he does and fighting his own demons and dealing with his wife death..Till an old friend call Ross about a patient name Lila that he need help with...Lila who in a psychiatric ward, for trying to kill herself after the death of her husband..Ross trying to help Lila realizes that there more than meets the eye, when it comes to her case and every time he try to get answers, he gets road block...This book kept me at the edge of my seat..This is my 1st book from Ms. Belinda Frisch and I was impressed with the whole storyline..I do highly recommend this amazing book...

I Honestly loved this story! This is a story mostly about dealing with grief and getting passed losing someone you love. I think a lot of people can relate to this. First we have Ross a psychiatrist who is enlisted to help Lila...a mental patient who has just given up entirely on life...Both these characters have lost there spouses...as Ross starts to make progress with Lila...he uncovers a deeper conspiracy to actually destroy Lila's life and has to intervene to help her....LiIa had made some questionable decisions, but they were made in love...and as Ross gets her to open up, he finds the strength to heal also. This was a great listen..I listened to it all in one setting and would highly recommend it!!!
Belinda Frisch is a great writer who developed an original plot driven storyline with great character development, that were both likable and believable! This book is a nice entertaining read that I highly recommend! I can definitely see this as a lifetime movie! Nora Roberts watch out for this one.
This book is a real page turner and entertaining read. The plot driven storyline and character development were original and well executed. I highly recommend this book and can easily see it as a lifetime movie on a par with Nora Roberts.

The Missing by Belinda Frisch is a book about dealing with grief, learning to let go and love again. Frisch shows us in this book, sometimes helping someone deal with their problems is the best therapy.
Dr. Ross Reeves is a Psychiatrist, he is called upon to help a special patient at a private mental health facility. Once he gets there, he becomes so intrigued in the case that he takes some questionable chances. He has lost the love of his life 5 years ago and is still grieving for her. He has a girlfriend but really not able to give her his all.
Lila's husband is shot a year ago and he was left in a coma. Lila was face with the hard decision that we all would dread, taking someone off life support. Now a year later, Lila refuses to speak, hardly eats and refuses to move on with her life. There seems to be more to her than meets the eye.
This book has twist and turns along with a few surprise that will keep you guessing. Neither one guessed that while he was healing her, she was healing him as well.
I give The Missing Year 3 Platypires Bama Love!! Roll Tide!! and Keep Reading Y'all!!

Mostly I enjoyed it. The story was captivating and I found myself drawn to a few of the characters. It was hard to put it down at times, because I needed to know what would happen next.
At the same time, I felt like some of it was a little too hard to believe. There were also parts that I felt shouldn't have been surprising to the characters, especially among medical professionals.
Throughout the story I found myself most drawn to Lila. I wanted to know more about her and her story. Although I was interested in a few of the others, she was definitely the favorite for me.
One thing I don't understand is how this was labeled a contemporary romance. It has romance in it, but it wasn't the focus. It's definitely a drama though.
I did really like the writing. The dialogue was good, it flows well, and the relationships between the characters were done well. All and all, I enjoyed it.
I have no idea how I came across this book and when I started reading I also had no idea what it was about. I'm really glad I came upon this. I started this at work and I couldn't stop I had to figure out what happened. It has a lot of chapters but they are quick so it doesn't feel like the book is taking forever.

I could hardly put this book down. Lila intrigued me. I needed to know what she was hiding and with the story and characters being so well written, it was easy get completely sucked in.
