Fantastic series for animal lovers everywhere. Perfect for fans of Holly Webb! When Great-Uncle Horace brings back lost and homeless animals from his travels around the globe, it falls to Zoe, and her mum, the zoo vet, to settle them into their new home. She's good at this, because she can understand what they say and talk to them, too. But that's a secret. In the fifth book in the series, a playful baby elephant arrives at the zoo. But how can Zoe prevent him from rushing into big trouble…
Zoe lives with her veterinarian mum at the Rescue Zoo owned by her Great Uncle Horace. He is an animal expert and travels around the world to bring home animals that need help. Zoe also has a secret as the can understand what animals say.
This time Great Uncle Horace brings a baby elephant to the Zoo. Bertie is lively and curious but has to learn to live in his new home. It's also time for the annual Weigh Day, where all animals are weighed to see if they might have a health issue.
This is a cute (naive) series, but a nice way for young kids to learn a bit more about animals.
Read with Sam (and then Gina). A perfectly pleasant and funny story. I am, however, starting to detect a certain plot format in these books: new animal arrives, Mr Pinch gets grumpy, Zoe gets I'll and has a day of school when she miraculously recovers and has a day of adventures at the zoo. Harmless.
My daughter (9) has a new favorite series and these books are it! This was the first one of the series that she read and she was loving it so much that she finished it in one sitting. She told me that I had to read it. I think that this is a really cute book. We are animal lovers and this book being about a rescue zoo is right up our alley. Zoe is a wonderful character and her little buddy Meep is such an adorable critter. I really enjoyed the story of the elephants. I highly recommend this book to young readers who are animal lovers.
When the rescue zoo gets a new addition in the form of baby elephant, Bertie, Zoe is overjoyed especially as the baby elephant is alive with energy!
As Bertie settles in to zoo life and befriends the other animals, Zoe gets sick but the animals all have ways to make her feel better and when an elephants fear of water gets in the way, can they help save one of their own in danger?
A sweet little story about the joys of life in a zoo and danger too perfect for Animal lovers!
This book is about an eager elephant who is eager to do what Oscar ( the big elephant) does. Oscar does not like water! Bertie ( the small elephant) tries to eat from the high trees but Zoe tells him to eat from the lower trees. Bertie likes to swim in the paddling pool in their enclosure. Zoe and David( the elephant zoo keeper) takes Bertie and Oscar on a walk to the river.
