Genesis: Behind the Lines 1967 - 2007

Rate this book
Based on extensive archival research and the author's own interviews with past and present band members and those who worked closely with them, this complete guide traces the history of one of rock’s most enduring bands. From the early days with Peter Gabriel, through the Phil Collins years and post-Collins Genesis, right up to the present day, all the different lineups are covered. The book extensively explores the music—how the songs were written and recorded; how the concerts progressed from early college gigs to packed stadium shows; and how their sound evolved over the past four decades. An extensive discography, including solo releases and bootlegs, is also featured, as well as numerous photos. Forty years after the release of the group’s first single, Genesis is back in this chronicle for fans and music lovers alike that traces the group's entire career, right up to the start of their upcoming tour.

This was a good documentation of the band Genesis. I mostly was interested in hearing about the recording of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and other early material. The book did not disappoint. An enjoyable read for a fan of the band.
