Monsters of the Labyrinth #1

Minding The Minotaur

Rate this book
She’s hot for the monster she’s guarding…

When Samantha Buggins gets sacked from her security job in Sparkle City, she’s cheered up by a buffed and handsome minotaur she meets in the parking lot.
But when the minotaur suddenly disappears, Samantha is left with a whole heap of unanswered questions and a case of seriously unrequited insta-love.
Until she gets offered a job in The Labyrinth, a secret underground network of tunnels where monsters live and work below Sparkle City.
Arlo has escaped the Labyrinth one too many times, which puts all monsters in grave danger from the human authorities. Now he’s under house arrest. Which makes him mad as hell, because on his last trip to Sparkle, he met a gorgeous curvy human he’s fallen for big time.
He’d do anything to meet her again… even if that means putting the whole Labyrinth at risk.
But that all changes when Arlo finds out that the human he’s been pining for just happens to be his new minder…

Minding The Minotaur is the first book in the Monsters of The Labyrinth trilogy. It’s a high heat romantasy, with a super-hero minotaur in a cape, a down-on-her-luck plus size human heroine, and some seriously dark and villainous magic.
Explicit sexual content. Mild violence. Not suitable for audiences under 18.

Lilith's books are always a good time and she has a way of making a book cozy, spicy and serious all at the same time. The spice is always well done and plentiful but I really love how she develops her characters and the world and makes you actually care about what is going on. Arlo and Sammy are so cute together and I just adored them. If you are a fan of monster/minotaur romance books, this one is going to be right up your alley. Arlo: "I fell head over horns in love with you Sammy." I mean come on, how cute is that.

If you have read and enjoyed any of Lilith's other works or if you are a fan of "Morning Glory Milking Farm" by CM Nascosta, give this book a try and I think you'll be pleased.

“I didn’t expect to fall for a minotaur in a cape, but here we are.” 🐮🛡️

Why are they SO DAMN CUTE?! 😭💘 I went into Minding the Minotaur expecting a spicy paranormal monster romance… but what I got was that and so much more: political intrigue, social rebellion, cozy vibes, found family, and a big-hearted minotaur who made me want to melt into a pile of feelings.

Set in a post-apocalyptic Earth where humans live in domed cities and monsters have been forced underground into a secret, government-hidden Labyrinth, this story had a deeply engaging premise that instantly hooked me 🌍🌀 Sparkle City may look like glitter and fun from the outside, but it’s a tightly controlled dystopia where studying history is illegal and information is weaponized by the ruling elite 💼📚

Our heroine Samantha Buggins (who I LOVED) is a plus-size security guard who gets unfairly fired and blacklisted after catching the mayor’s niece shoplifting. With no options left, she finds herself taking a mysterious new job… in the Labyrinth 👀 And who does she run into there? Arlo. The grumpy, loyal, cinnamon roll of a cape-wearing minotaur she met once in a parking garage—and never stopped thinking about 🐮❤️

The chemistry between them? Instant and intense 🔥 But also incredibly sweet. Arlo is under house arrest, furious about the risk he’s brought to his people, yet still soft and starry-eyed whenever Samantha walks in. And Samantha? She’s strong, thoughtful, and refuses to treat Arlo like a danger just because he’s a “monster.” Watching her start to question everything she was taught about the Labyrinth—and the world above—was so satisfying 🧠💥

There’s lots of spice in this book, but what really stood out to me was the tenderness underneath it all. Samantha and Arlo see each other. They’re both lonely in different ways, and their connection gave me all the warm fuzzies 🥹💓

And on top of all that, Lilith Stone weaves in themes of systemic injustice, information control, and rebellion in such a smart and accessible way. The slow reveal of magic existing in a world that has forcibly erased it? Yes, please. I can’t wait to see how this will expand in future books. ✨🌒

🧡 TROPE LOVERS, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU:
• Grumpy x Sunshine 🐮☀️
• Fated Mates (maybe 👀)
• Forbidden Love 🚫❤️
• Plus-Size Heroine 💃
• Hidden Magical World 🪄
• Government Conspiracy 🧠
• Cozy Monster Romance 💞
• Forced Proximity 🔒
• He Falls First™ 😍
• Secret Underground Society 🕳️🏙️
• She’s His Minder, Literally 🛡️

This book made me laugh, swoon, and want to run away with a monster boyfriend. What more could I ask for?

Thank you to Lilith Stone and BookSirens for the ARC opportunity! I’m already counting down the days until book two.

Booksirens were kind enough to send me an ARC for this book.

I very much enjoy Lillith Stone's writing. I also loved the idea of this book but there was so much going on packed into just one book that I felt like several things were hinted at but nothing was given a full picture.

This book takes place in a time after an Apocalypse (What apocalypse I'm not fully sure) where humans live in domes (I'm getting Under the Dome by Stephen King vibes? Again, this idea wasn't fully presented so I could be off base) The humans live above ground but underneath is the Labyrinth where the monsters live. This is presented in a way that reminds me of the nine circles of hell as each level has different things going on.

A willy minotaur uses a magic cape and gets up into the human realm where he meets his human counterpart who is having a really bad day. They get separated and as punishment he is placed on house arrest by the orc Sherief Otis. Since Otis doesn't have time to watch him all the time he hires someone, and it ends up being the curvy blonde he met in the human world.

The minotaur's job lets him leave his house arrest once a week to go make a deposit (Literally am I in Cambric Creek because this is very Morning Glory Milking farm IMO)

A love story ensues where they decide to be together. This is forbidden and a bunch of bad stuff happens that I can't say because spoilers.

Book ends in a HEA with the hinting of Clem and Otis getting a story and Jax and Tippy as well.

Thank you to the author and BookSirens for the ARC and for giving me the opportunity to share my honest thoughts on this book.

This story had a great pace and a smooth, easy-to-follow writing style that made it effortless to sink into. The tone felt light and engaging, with just the right balance of emotion and tension to keep me turning the pages.

The main characters (MCs) have an instant spark and chemistry that feels very relatable—like a sudden crush that has your mind replaying every interaction. Their connection had a cute and giddy aesthetic that made me smile more than once. The chemistry between them really leapt off the page, making their growing bond believable and fun to watch unfold.

That said, the first spice scene took me by surprise. Up until that point, the tension had built in a nice slow-burn way, so when it finally shifted into heat, it felt a bit abrupt—like being pushed off a ledge rather than being gently coaxed over it. That moment of transition could have been smoother. However, once the spice started, it didn’t stop—and in the best way possible😏. The scenes were well-written and added depth to their relationship.

Overall, this was a really good book—fun, steamy, and emotionally engaging. I truly enjoyed reading it.

I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this from the author after being part of the release week blitz team for it.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world where humanity lives in domed cities and monsters have been forced underground into the Labyrinth, this book surprised me. I was expecting something light, but whilst it was this, it also delivered an undercurrent of seriousness - touching on morality, sociopolitical inequality, and societal norms. And honestly? I was here for it.

Arlo, our Minotaur MMC, uses a magical cape to visit the human realm, where he meets Samantha, our FMC, who’s in the middle of a very bad day. After they’re separated, Arlo is punished with house arrest and required to hire help during his confinement. Cue the return of his curvy, chaotic counterpart - Samantha herself.

Samantha is curious, clever, and determined. She challenges the unjust systems that privilege the powerful while dehumanizing (or, in this case, de-monstering?) everyone else.

Arlo is a true cinnamon roll MMC. He isn’t just some basic fantasy archetype and really comes into his own as a character.
This book blends sweetness, spice, and cosy moments - but also has a serious emotional core, exploring the hard truths of injustice and what it means to question your society’s norms.
It’s smart, spicy, and features intriguing worldbuilding that keeps you hooked. While we do get a glimpse into how the Labyrinth functions, I found myself wanting more - not because anything was lacking, but because the world seemed interesting. A deeper dive would’ve been great, especially from a worldbuilding standpoint.

The connection between Sam and Arlo is sweet and very instalove - fast-paced and lustful -but it works. Arlo is protective and tender, and Sam rolls with the weirdness. Minotaur? Sure. Horns? Great. Let’s do this. Their chemistry is undeniable. And while there’s plenty of spice, their intimacy also reflects something deeper: two people finally feeling seen and free to be their authentic selves.

The overall story works really well. There are some minor pacing issues, and as I mentioned, more development in the world and side character arcs would’ve been nice.
But overall, it was quick, satisfying, heartfelt, and steamy - and in parts there is something I’ve not really read before.

I’m intrigued to see where this series goes next!

Thankyou so much to Lilith Stone for sending me a copy - all opinions are my own.

I very much enjoy monster books and this one was no exception. There is a good story intermingled with steamy, spicy, romance. This world is very dystopian and deep you get into the story to more interesting and wild this world becomes.

Not only did I love these characters but the history of this world was so fascinating that I wanted to know more, just like the FMC.

I enjoyed the curvy inclusivity of the FMC. It’s nice seeing that representation in books and done with grace and care for the curvy female body and mind.

This book ending with a HEA but also a bit a cliffhanger. I very much want to read the next book to see how this story progresses.

OVERVIEW

MINDING THE MINOTAUR is the first book in the Monsters of the Labyrinth series. We follow Samantha (Sammy) Buggins, a recently laid-off security guard for the Devine Empire and a generally down-on-her-luck girl with a bright disposition. She lives in the idyllic Sparkle City, a place constructed after an apocalypse shattered the life on Earth, where everyone abides by strict rules within the Dome and harbors unresolved hatred towards monsters living beneath Sparkle City in the mostly obscured Labyrinth.

Sammy is our protagonist. She's cheerful and determined to become successful, not wanting to let her parents down. She's a human and her closest friend is Clem (which I'm assuming is short for Clementine), who also works at DeVine. After Sammy is laid-off for a mishap involving her boss's niece, she meets Arlo, a minotaur from the underground Labyrinth, and becomes immediately smitten with him. Sammy is a very simple character, which I think for this book, where it's a low-stakes, high character connection, makes sense! She's always looking to improve herself, and it's clear that once she has her eyes on something, she's not going to stop until she gets it. Her determination to learn more about the Labyrinth and about Arlo's life is endearing, especially since a lot of humans seem to detest monsters.

Sammy is described as your typical blonde, blue-eyed, curvy woman, but she oscillates from being self-conscious of her body to being confident within herself, something that becomes more prominent through her evolving relationship with Arlo. Sammy maintains good relationships with people in the Labyrinth and her friends, and what I loved about her was her adventurous spirit. Even though it gets her in some trouble, she still preservers, and I loved that about her.

I wish I'd gotten to see more of her interactions with Tippy and some of Arlo's friends like Silas. I feel like everything happened so quickly and she really only had conversations with Arlo and Otis and Jax. I know this book is meant to be cozy and spicy and generally a book you can read without having to worry of major plot twists, and it certainly is! It's everything you'd want after a rough day, but I'd love to have seen more of Sammy's individual connections apart from the one she had with Arlo.

Arlo is the sweetest yet totally possessive man I've ever seen! He's a minotaur and seems to be the breadwinner of his family, particularly his sister Clarisse, who has a habit of having children but never taking care of them. He's a minotaur, so he's subjected to cruelty by humans which makes him resent them, so I was surprised to see how quickly he fell for Sammy. I kind of wish we had some more slow-burn tension, particularly from Arlo's side, because it's clear in the beginning that he's not fond of humans, so for him to grow attached to Sammy so quickly without any explanation felt a bit rushed for me.

Despite this, I loved Arlo. He was so sweet to Sammy, showing her his garden and promising to show her the real sky beyond the Dome. When the incident at the end happened to Sammy, he was ready to throw arms and become the monstrous bull everyone assumed he was just to protect her. His longing for having a family with Sammy was so heart-breaking and I was so happy when they got the happy ending they deserved! Arlo's job in particular as a...magical juice donator was interesting, and it brought about some pretty intense, spicy scenes between him and Sammy!

The plot was calm, sweet, and cozy! What I want to draw particular attention to is Stone's immaculate worldbuilding! For a book that focuses on the relationship between Sammy and Arlo, Stone does an incredible job of carving out a society that's not half-assed solely for the sake of creating spicy scenes between Arlo and Sammy. The connection of Arlo's job to the place Sammy ends up toward the end of the story came as a surprise, one that I'm still thinking about! Following Sammy and Arlo's journey as guard/prisoner to lovers, the loveable side characters and seeing how the Labyrinth worked was an enjoyable, exciting entrance for me into the world of Lilith Stone!

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃

🐂The World-Building: This is kind of redundant 🫠but I have to say it again. THE WORLD BUILDING!! Stone created the perfect balance of description with action, and I was able to visualize Sparkle City without any poetic paragraphs of sonnets about how grimy the Periphery district where Jax lived was. Just enough was given to the reader without being overwhelming, and Stone was amazing where she was able to weave Arlo and Sammy's developing relationship within these brief scenes that only magnified the effect of their love.

🐂Otis: Ms. Stone, I NEED Otis's book 😂Honestly, he was so tough but sweet! His desires conflicting with his job as a Sheriff was kinda sad, but I know that once he gets his story, he's gonna get the happy ending he deserves! His up and down, but overall brotherly relationship with Arlo was one to die for, and I loved how even though Otis was punishing Arlo, he was still supporting Arlo and Sammy!

🐂That Clinic Scene: Everyone reading this book knows what I'm talking about, and if you haven't read it yet...READ IT 👀Because phew 🥵That clinic scene was so hot and toe-curling and all around just soooo spicy; you don't want to miss it. Sammy puts herself down so much, but in this scene and the many others that follow, she becomes more and more sure of herself, taking charge of giving and receiving her pleasure. And Arlo is more than willing to comply 😉

🐂Our Girl Sammy: Sammy was a sweet, kind, hardworking FMC and you can't help but just root for her! She was going through so much in the beginning, and to get her happy ending with a minotaur as sweet, protective, possessive, and undoubtably loving as Arlo just made my heart burst for her. Sammy struggled with her body confidence, her worth as a member of society, and her worth as a girlfriend after her douchebag boyfriends left her with nothing; so seeing her get her HEA with Arlo, seeing her grasp her power and take charge (especially during the intimate moments where Arlo could have easily taken control, but multiple times, it's Sammy who's doing the dirty talking and pleasing), really made me feel proud of her!

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐒 𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊
(🇮🇳 🇲🇾 🇴🇵🇮🇳🇮🇴🇳)

🐂The Pacing: This is a cozy-ish paranormal romance, so of course, the main focus is going to be Sammy and Arlo's relationship, but I wish there was more. I felt like the first sex scene jumped the gun, especially because of the nice slow-burn we were getting before. I would have liked to see more of Sammy and Arlo exploring their dynamic as individuals and as a couple, and it wouldn't have to be within a dramatic scene. Something simple, like when they went to the garden, would have been nice to see again! I also wish we got more, longer scenes with Tilly and Clem, even Otis and some of Arlo's friends, because I feel like there's so much more we could have learned!

🐂Sammy's Descriptions: Sammy repeatedly states in the novel that she hates when men only notice her chest first, which is slightly larger than most women, so what I found interesting was that it was the first thing that Arlo notices about her. I kind of wish this was brought up in vein with my previous point about the pacing, because I think having Arlo see her for more than just her physical attributes would have been some amazing character development. I also think it would have been a good moment of conflict if Sammy assumed that Arlo liked her only for what other men liked too.

🐂The Conflict: I wasn't quite sure what the conflict was in the story, even though at the end, Otis states that the tensions between Sparkle City and the Labyrinth have been rising - we don't really get the assumption of that as a reader, and how can it all be only because of Sammy and Arlo's mating? I get that it's probably going to be expanded more in the next book, but I wish we got a bit more insight into the conflict. Leaving things vague for the next books is fine, but I feel like, especially with the previous mentions of conflict, it was too vague. I also wish we got to see some of the other levels, since it was mentioned so many times. Even if it's shown in later books, I think it's worth seeing another level in this book as well, even if only in passing, so that we as the reader aren't left completely in the dark about the conflict. Because apart from what happens toward the end, there's only the evolution of Sammy and Arlo's bond that occurs, and even that happens quite quickly.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS

HOLY MOLY I LOVED THIS STORY!!!! This is a book I absolutely plan to have on my bookshelf, and all the other books written by Lilith Stone. I love monster romance, and Stone did an amazing job writing Arlo and Sammy's story. Sammy in particular as an FMC was so relatable and simple without being too plain. Overall, I absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a monster romance or a romance in general.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I'm so in love with the worlds that this author builds in her stories. The blend of sweetness, spice, and coziness make each read like emotional hot apple cider in the best way. There is character development in balance with spicy scenes which is not always easy to achieve.

Something I really loved about this story is that while the story is cozy when it comes to the romance angle there is also a strong tie in to questioning the morality or rightness of sociopolitical norms. The story is a post apocalypse setting where humanity has to live in domed cities while the "monsters" have been literally and figuratively forced underground into The Labyrinth. Like most post apocalypse stories the shiny or fun looking surface of society has a very troubling underbelly. Sparkle City gives Capitol City from The Hunger Games meets City of Ember and The Giver in terms of how information is so tightly controlled and history carefully curated.

Our two main characters come into each other's orbits as a result of our plus sized, smart, and dedicated civil servant FMC Samantha going against the unspoken rules about how the laws are different for the rich and powerful **humans** than they are for any other humans as well as every monster. We get to watch how by working closely with our cinnamon roll MMC minotaur Arlo, Samantha discovers some hard truths about her own society and the injustices that society perpetuates. There are strong elements of Found Family, What's Really Going On, and Love Against All Odds feels throughout the book and I absolutely loved it. 5/5 Stars

I really loved this story! Lilith creates the most wonderful monster worlds that you just want to disappear into.
In Minding the Minotaur we’re introduced to Sammy and Arlo who are from completely different worlds (literally) but after a chance encounter in a department store parking lot they are left with more questions than answers and undeniable heart eyes for one another.
Sammy lives in Sparkle City where it’s mandatory to go out, party and be social all the time, which honestly sounds terrible. I would jump at the chance to escape it too. Especially if it was into the arms of a minotaur who was besotted with me!
Fast forward to the forced proximity where Sammy finds herself working in the secret monster world known as the Labyrinth which leads her to reunite with her mystery minotaur crush which she is not mad about at all.
Cue the shenanigans…a lot of shenanigans.
It’s a spicy one for sure, but the plot to spice ratio in this story was spot on, with the balance between sweet monster lovin’ and social justice intrigue being very well done.

Minding the Minotaur is a perfect start to a brand new series that not only introduces us to an ensemble of interesting characters but leaves the reader wanting to know more about what’s going to happen now that these two worlds have collided.

The first book in a new series, Minding the Minotaur takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth where humans live in domed cities while the monsters are forced to live in a subterranean labyrinth that only the ruling elite know exists. The powerful ruling family of Sparkle City keep control by carefully curating available information and criminalizing the study of history, all while keeping up the fiction of fun and entertainment in the glittering city as the ideal life.

When Samantha is fired and blacklisted as a security guard after apprehending a shoplifter, who turns out to be the niece of the owner of the department store/mayor of Sparkle City, her options are limited. A brief, possibly fated, encounter with Arlo, a minotaur, in the employee parking garage changes her life forever.

The sweet romance paired with all the spice makes Minding the Minotaur a great escape, but it is Lilith Stone’s ability to weave political and social justice issues into her writing, while still keeping that cozy vibe, that make me love her books so much. The revelation of the existence of magic, which I’m guessing will be explored further in later books in the series, adds an interesting layer of complexity to the power dynamics at play.

For all my monster lovers out there, get this book on your tbr!

I had the opportunity to read an early copy from the author through BookSirens. All opinions are my own.

This is an exciting paranormal monster romance and the first book in the Monsters of the Labyrinth series.

Human FMC Samantha, or Sammy, lives in the dystopian Sparkle City, a city sealed under a dome after an apocalyptic event left humans unable to breathe open air. Sammy is barely making ends meet as a security guard when she’s unexpectedly fired. On her way out, she literally runs into hunky MMC minotaur Arlo. After he magically disappears she learns about the underground Labyrinth, a hidden world full of monsters, magic, and secrets. Desperate for work, she decides to take another security job there in the Labyrinth, and surprise surprise she is guarding the same minotaur.

I really liked this book, it had a lot going on. It has the whimsy and spice you’d expect from a minotaur romance, but there’s also a strong plot and solid world-building. There’s clearly a bigger story arc for the series, along with a cast of interesting side characters. The MCs were great together, and the limitations of Arlo’s job led to some… creative bedroom scenes.

This was a great first book in the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next in book two Organizing the Orc Schedule, releasing January 2026.

This book came just at the right time in my life. Under quite a bit of stress, I just wanted a feel-good escape. "Minding The Minotaur" was exactly what I needed.

While this is an awesome setting -- post-apocalyptic dome city where humans live in hedonistic ignorance, while monsters stay hidden and toiling in a Labyrinth -- the characters are what really make this story special. Sammy and Arlo are the cutest couple, and the fabulous cast of supporting characters brings them to life in the most delightful way. It's rare to get to know so many fictional people (and monsters) as friends, and by the end I was really hoping some of my favorite new Labyrinth-dwellers would get their own happy-ever-after story… indeed, the author is already working on a new romance set in the same universe, and I will eagerly read it!

If you love vibrant characters, a sweet love story (with plenty of steamy parts), and happily every after for humans and monsters, then this is definitely the book for you. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. At this point, I am chomping at the bit for the next book in the series. We want more!

"An Incredible Monster Romance series"
This story was so much fun to read! It has awesome and unique characters.
This story is funny, sweet, and scorching hot.
This story is set in the future. Where humans have to live under domes. Sammy is one of these humans. She is curvy and very spunky. After she is fired from her job. She comes across a Menotaur in the underground garage. Right off she is highly attracted to him. What most humans didn't know is there are all kinds of monsters living below the domes.
Arlo is a sexy Menotaur he used a magic cape to enter the dome. He had been curious about the human. When he meets Sammy he falls hard for her. But he accidentally teleported back home.
Sammy is determined to locate Arlo again. Through her best friend Clem Sammy gets a job working with the monsters. It seems fate has plans for Sammy and Arlo! When her new job brings them to meet again. This leads to a steamy and funny relationship!
You will love this five star plus story and series.

While this is definitely still a monster romance, it’s got a completely different spin from most I’ve read. This is the first book in a new series, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth where humans live in dome cities and monsters are forced underground—something only the ruling elite even know about. The powerful families of Sparkle City keep control by distracting everyone with glamor, entertainment, and the illusion of a perfect life.

Then we meet Samantha, who’s fired and blacklisted from her security job after stopping a shoplifter—who just so happens to be the mayor and owner of the store. With no options left, she ends up crossing paths with a Minotaur… and let me tell you, things get very spicy.

I really liked how the author built this world—it’s unique, sexy, and surprisingly bright. The existence of magic adds another layer, and the dynamic between Samantha and the Minotaur is hot but also clever. It’s different from the usual monster romances, and I mean that in the best way.

Minding the Minotaur Lilith Stone review

Great Series Starter!!

Lilith had done an amazing job of introducing us to a post apocalyptic Earth where humans live in domes above the Labyrinth where the monsters dwell and provide them with most of their goods and luxuries yet most have no knowledge of these monsters.

Sammy is one of these humans who unexpectedly finds out about this underworld and ends up working to guard a minotaur, Arlo, who is under house arrest for his illegal forays into the human world.

The desire and lust between the two quickly leads to steamy encounters and deepening feelings.

The conflict between the two factions makes it difficult for these two to be together and the book kept me engaged and interested in watching it work out for them.

Lilith has created a great new world and started the series off with a wonderful couple. I can’t wait to read more!!

‘Minding the Minotaur’ is such a great, cozy read. It’s chock full of sweet moments between Arlo and Sammy—moments they both more than deserve. Author Lilith Stone does a solid job of world and character descriptions. I am looking forward to the next installment in the series for many reasons: I need to know more about Arlo and Sammy’s baby; Got to witness Otis and Clem’s love story; Need to see Jax find his HEA. I enjoyed Arlo and Sammy’s story, with all its action, adventure, love, and hope—just lovely.

Minding the Minotaur is a smart, spicy monster romance with great world-building to hook you. Samantha is sharp, skeptical, and quietly desperate for change. Arlo, the gruff minotaur she ends up guarding, turns out to be more than a fantasy figure, and their chemistry builds quickly without losing emotional depth.

The Labyrinth is an intriguing setting, full of hidden tensions and cultural divides. I do wish we’d seen a bit more of it before the story wrapped, but the focus on Sam and Arlo’s evolving connection makes up for it. Their intimacy isn’t just physical; it reflects two people finally being seen for who they are.

The pacing stumbles for me slightly in places, and I would’ve loved a bit more development for the side characters, but overall this was a quick, satisfying read with a lot of heart and heat. I’m excited to see where the series goes next.

I had the opportunity to read an early copy from the author through BookSirens.

Sammy and Arlo kick off the new series of monster/human realms from Lilith and they were as fabulous as the characters we've already met and loved in the Motham City Monsters series.

Minding the Minotaur felt a bit darker in tone and there's a full world building mystery starting which has me intrigued to carry on and find out more. Our mc's were great, relatable and loveable, I really enjoy how Lilith writes her characters, flawed yet wholesome and never irritating!

The spice was pretty instant and consistent and didn't disappoint. The support cast of characters were fleshed out well and I'm excited to learn more about them. The history and mystery were quite harrowing and I'm already routing for a happy ending good vs evil saga from this new series.

Good introduction and left me wanting to find out more and get to know the other characters better.

Thanks to Lilith Stone and BookSirens for the arc opportunity, all thoughts are my own and left voluntarily.

First of all I want to say I got an Arc in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked the story and the writing. But the whole living under a dome and secret monster labyrinth seemed kind of far fetched. There are way more monsters than human and the monster are stronger and faster. Why wouldn't they do something against the oppression?

If you ignore that, the romance was really sweet and even though very inst love and insta lust I could really understand the chemistry. Arlo was such a sweet minotour and very protective. I looooved how Sammy took the whole monster thing. No unnecessary drama just acceptance and moving on.

I would read the next one. firstly because I want to read about rule follower Otis and secondly to find out what happens next in the whole human against monster thing.

The smut and spice is definitely there. The relationship between Arlo and Sammy is sweet, warming, and comforting. The way their relationship develops is fast-paced but still flows well. I enjoyed how well Arlo and Sammy were developed and both of them had characteristics/ background history that gave more to the story. The main characters and their relationship with the other monsters was also well done. As the story continued the plot line that becomes the introduction to the series picks up. I personally feel it came in a little confusing, I had initially interpreted the story to be a standalone. This was really my only issue with the story. While it wasn’t a standalone I do think the series will be interesting and entertaining.
I did receive this book as a free ARC and I am willing leaving this review

Minotaur Arlo has gotten out of the underground Labyrinth beneath Sparkle City one two many times which now has the monsters living there in danger from the human authorities. The time has come to impose a house arrest and a guard to keep him out of trouble.

What was unexpected for Arlo was finding out his new guard happened to be the human female he’d met on his last excursion, and couldn’t stop thinking about, MFC Samantha.

Enjoyed the engaging writing, nicely crafted characters and delightful story that is Minding the Minotaur the first book of the Monsters of the Labyrinth.

Humor, spice, passion, imaginative world building, drama, a little danger and adventure were combined into a very immersive read.

I really enjoyed this book, I felt like the begining was "slow", they seemed miles away form each other, even at their second meeting, but when it started, it just didn't stop. Arlo was so sweet and seductive! He was head over heels for her and she gives it back to him, it was really sweet. Maybe a warning for voyeurism because what do you mean the do it all day, every day and everyone knows ? haha.

The long "foreplay" was so sweet and spicy that the actual mating felt a little underwhelming to me, but the proposal was really sweet.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The next book sounds really interesting, wondering how Jax will react for his sister's story.

4.25 stars. This story is dual POV, well written, and a dystopian, male minotaur (Arlo)/female human (Sammy), sci fi/fantasy romantic comedy. I enjoyed Sammy’s willingness to take chances. I enjoyed Arlo’s sense of self and willingness to play. I found both characters somewhat immature at the beginning (possibly a function of environment) and enjoyed the character development they underwent. I enjoyed the relationship development and the gradually deepening intimate scenes. The antics of the characters, especially Arlo, were amusing, though I found the setting significantly darker than the author’s Motham City Monster series.

I received a complimentary copy from the author and this is my voluntary honest review.

I would give this book 4.5 stars. It was a really nice read. I really enjoyed the world Lilith Stone put together. Sparkle City and the Labyrinth are so diverse; from the different monsters, how humans are living, and the monster-human interaction. When I received this ARC for free, I was informed that this was a part of a series and I am eagerly waiting for the next book. Arlo, a minotaur, and Samantha, a human, are super cute but they are a little part of this world that I feel we are just getting into. This read like a romance but there is some nefarious activities going on and Sammy & Arlo might be right in the center. I have so many questions! There was magic, portals, monsters, a corrupt society, and SMUT!

Enjoyable cute romance read that is about Arlo our bad-boy minotaur who escapes the Labyrinth an underground city of tunnels where monsters live under Sparkle City and Samantha/Sammy our security officer of DeVines department store who got fired because she arrested the owner's niece. Walking to her car Sammy hears a noise and meets Arlo who appeared before her and then disappears when they hear someone approach. This connection fascinates her, so she gets a job from her friend's brother. This leads her to meet Arlo again as his controller, for Arlo broke the rules when he appeared in the human world. What occurs was an engaging story with endearing and likable characters that I'd received and volunteer to tread and review.

Another fantastic monster romance. I have enjoyed everything I’ve read so far by Lilith Stone, which has mainly been the whole Motham City Monsters series.

Minding the Minotaur is the start of a new series and I cannot wait for the next book at the end of the year. Arlo and Sammy were just such a cute couple, this was definitely an insta-love type story, with humor, sweetness, and of course spice. It sets up the world and coming drama with the humans for future books in the series in such an effortless way. If you love a good hearted monster romance you’ll definitely enjoy Minding the Minotaur. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is the start of a new standalone series for Lilith Stone, and I had a great time! Arlo and Sammy had EXTRA spice, and this new world was so interesting! I like the play of the labyrinth, and I’m so curious to see where the rest of the series will go. There are already a couple side characters I can’t wait to learn more about!

I always have the best time reading Lilith’s books, and this one is no different!

Great dystopian adventure romance. I found the story behind the Minotaur and the others in the labyrinth both was fascinating and sad. At times the romance between Sammy and Arlo was so funny. If you are considering reading this book do not ignore the explicit sex warning. The author doesn’t hold anything back. That said you don’t lose the story to sex scenes. There was so much happening on so many levels in the book it was easy to be drawn in and keep turning the pages. Just a warning it does leave you with a cliff hanger. Will be waiting impatiently to see how the subplot plays out. Definitely recommend.

I enjoyed this story, but it was a touch more dystopian than what I like to read. I have read many a series where humans have trashed Earth and had to find an alternative, but usually those involve the humans going to other planets and finding a better life. In this book, the humans are still on Earth with great swaths of the planet being unusable due to pollution. This leads to a power struggle between the humans and other sentient creatures who live on the planet. I read for escapism, but there were a few sections that were too stressful for me to consider them escapist. Still, I will read the next book to see where the author goes with this.

3.5 rounded up to 4.

Thank you for the pleasure of reading this book. Sammy and Arlo had some instant chemistry and I was here for it. This was a sweet start for a new series. I look forward to the next. This has some good spice and cute plot. I always enjoy Liliths books they are the prefer palette cleanser of me after a heavier book. I know I can count on her books to keep it like and give me some easy love.
