Surge of The Pack #2

The Alpha's Broken Bond

Rate this book
All I wanted was to surprise my fated mate after weeks of sweet office flirting—
what I got was betrayal, humiliation, and an Alpha's pup.

One minute, we were interns stealing glances over coffee.
The next, I was standing outside a VIP booth,
listening to him laugh and call me a fling.
So I slapped him, ripped the bond off like a cheap name tag,
and vanished—with his baby and my pride.

Seven years, one daughter, and a whole damn business empire later—
I’m back. Not for him.
For the truth—because someone framed my father and got him killed.
But of course, Gabriel has to show up again, playing hero like he didn’t shatter me first.
So I tossed a wad of cash at his face, told him to choke on it, and walked away in heels.

Revenge first.
Feelings can wait.
And my daughter?
She’s the twist he never saw coming

🎶 And ain't it funny. How you said you were friends? Now it sure as hell don't look like it” 🎶

Seven years ago, a shattered bond and an Alpha’s betrayal drove her to disappear - pregnant, heartbroken, and determined never to look back. Now she’s built an empire and raised her daughter on her own, but returning home to uncover the truth behind her father’s murder puts her face-to-face with the man who ruined everything. Gabriel (H) may still be the fated mate she can’t forget, but she’s not the same woman he left behind.

—*•.¸♡ ★·.·☾ ゚。´THOUGHTS ゚☁︎。`·.·★ ♡¸.•*⋆—

She wasn't just a fling. She was everything—the light in my life. She made me believe that I could be more than my father's puppet. That I could be a man worthy of love. And yet, I sat there, allowing these men to reduce her to nothing, because if I didn't—if I dared to fight for her—she would pay the price.”

Aurora was completely right to run off and claim her baby as hers. Gabriel was a doormat, controlled by his father and obsessed with appearances. He lost the right to claim them the moment he belittled Aurora under the excuse of “protecting her.” Because of that, he missed out on seven years of Lila’s life. He had the nerve to be angry at Aurora for keeping Lila a secret when he was the reason she left in the first place. He constantly lacked a backbone. The only good things he ever did were protecting them when it mattered and stepping up as a dad once he finally realized he was one. But as a love interest, he completely failed. Exposing his father was satisfying, but it doesn’t make up for lying to Aurora and erasing her information when she was finally trying to trust him again.

—*•.¸♡ ★·.·☾ ゚。´OVERALL゚☁︎。`·.·★ ♡¸.•*⋆—

Gabriel is completely at fault here. If it weren’t for him berating her in front of his friends and pretending it was for her protection, she never would’ve rejected him. He takes the cake for being both a terrible MMC and the ultimate doormat.

Not a single dull or boring moment... steam level is about a 3.5 but the mystery makes up for that.

We first met Aurora Black in the bathroom of a bar in New York, where she part times at due to a little side effect from pregnancy. Her other job is an intern at some company, no idea what or who, but that is where she meets her fated mate and love, Gabriel Lune. But Gabriel is keeping secrets of who he really his, his past and what he's fighting for. So when his birthday comes and his dad forces him to met with other alphas sons at a bar he hated it but they railed him for having a 'fling' while he's 'engaged' to an Alpha's daughter, another secret that Aurora finds out as she is to work the VIP for her boss. She is the one to 'break' the mate bond to Gabriel and runs home and goes into hiding but she goes home to Massachusetts due to her mom's illness. 7 years later, Aurora is a co owner of a company, mother of a grown up 6 year old daughter and on the hunt to right a wrong that was done to her father to cause his disappearance. Little did she know that everything is all tied together with Gabriel, but her journey is far from easy especially when the man his hates to love is back and has his sight set on her.

2.5 (possible spoilers ahead) BOTH MCs were annoying. I groaned in frustration a few times during this book. This plot was very predictable

h was one of those tough girls who always jumped before looking. She always assumed, and had a hard time trusting anyone.

H was weak. Like…..he had no backbone. He was not very Alpha at all. He was so scared of his dad. Later on you find out that dad has been using H’s mom to control him- it makes more sense, but throughout most of the book you don’t know this.

The book starts out where H and h have been in a secret relationship for 3 months. Both already know they are fated mates. They don’t know a lot about each other, they’ve mostly spent their time in a smex haze. 🙃

h is working at the bar and has to wait on a VIP room. She overhears H in there with his friends. They are bashing on h. H never takes up for her. She also finds out H is an Alpha heir.
We the readers know from H’s POV, he loves h and doesn’t want his dad to find out about her. He thinks he’s protecting her. Well, she confronts him and rejects him. (She also doesn’t tell him she’s pregnant) Since this is a shifter book, she also finds out he’s engaged to OW.
She takes off and never gives H a chance to explain anything.

I did like the fact that H’s wolf went dormant on him because he didn’t protect his mate. I really believe there needs to be some type of punishment for rejecting/not protecting your mate.

For 7 years, H has looked for h.
h now has a 6 year old daughter and owns a business. Right before her mom dies, mom explains that h’s dad was murdered.
h goes to a gala, and H has received a tip that h would be there. He arrives in time to save her from being attacked (she was drugged) and they immediately shag. 😂😂😂😂😂
Then she’s like “FK off”

So, now you have the parts of the book where both H and h go back and forth. H tries to grovel and explain, she’s always pushing him away. H sees the little girl, feels an instant connection to her, but still doesn’t get it’s his kid for a while. Geez 🤦‍♀️THEN at some point, he starts to figure out the timeline. lol

h finally admits it’s his kid. Then she tells him he can’t be in the kid’s life because H was awful to h. Ummm that’s NO reason to withhold a kid from their dad. She was so yuck with her explanation on why he couldn’t be a dad to the girl.

Eventually, H wears h down and starts to gain her trust. He’s even helping her investigate who killed her dad.
H’s dad finds out about the investigation and threatens H. H goes and deletes all the material h has collected. 😩 During this, the OW pays h a visit throwing out mean girl lines. (OW is not important to this story. She’s just a woman H’s dad wants H to marry)
h discovers H deleted her stuff. The trust is broken again. Her showdown with H was sad. He sounded so defeated.
h and the little girl leave.

h and the little girl are kidnapped along with H’s mom. (Are there any shifter books without a kidnapping?) From H’s mom, h finally finds out her dad was actually a hero who tried to bring down H’s dad. He was killed for it.

Finally, H arrives and fights his dad. H is wounded badly. h has to do something with the mate bond to give him strength. He kills his dad. (Ngl, this is the weakest alpha hero I’ve ever read)

A few months later, wedding and HEA.

Ugh maybe I need to take a break from shifter books for a while. They are all starting to sound alike.

this was a cute short story, I love all rejected mate tropes..as long as the hero is celibate during the time. The mmc in this book is controlled by his father the alpha, So his mate overhears him talking to a group of friends stating that she means nothing to him & that he is engaged anyways so no point in wasting his time with her...she is heartbroken slaps him in the face rejects him and runs away pregnant. He searches for her for years..finally finds her.. she pushes him away at first understandably so she was heartbroken by what he said .but he only Said those things to protect her from his evil father. So he keeps showing up at her house...they get close again..he finds out quickly that they share a daughter together but she doesnt want to tell the daughter right away. her & her daughter get attacked..he offers for them to stay at his house to be protected better. she agrees...he bonds with his daughter & is loving life..they finally hook up..& he says he will never lie or leave her again.. So this part was confusing..So they are in the kichen I dunno making food? & he all of a sudden looks worried..and says he has to go..and will be back soon..says he has to work..? so she's already suspicious but figures he will tell her later...he is gone ALL night!!! he never left at night to work..So next day the fiance comes over & shows her a pic & says he was with me all night..it explained he wasn't touching her..but he was leaned in close talking to her..& the fiance was draped over him..So the fiance leaves telling her to check the computer ..she checks the computer & notices important files about her father are missing & that he deleted them. So he finally comes home...she asks where he was..and he just said "something came up" there's a explanation but I can't tell u right now..So she doesn't even bring up that she knows he was with his fake fiance alllllll night .that she came over & seen a pic of them..it was weirdly never brought up..she was only worried about the files..so they fight she sneaks off..& we get his pov...again he mentions why he deleted the files..but he doesn't explain that he was in any way forced to go to dinner & spend all night with his so called fiance? he didn't explain it..it was like glazed over as if it didn't happen....there was no explanation where he went...how long he was out...how disgusted he was by having to fake it with the fiance...nothing it was never mentioned again....I've never came across a book that's never explained that part in the guys pov...so odd..the ending his mate & daughter get kidnapped and he finally steps up..and goes to save them.. he wins happy ending. this was a okay book.

Let me just start by saying: This book is revenge candy wrapped in spice and dipped in heartbreak, and I ate up every damn bite.
The Alpha’s Broken Bond hit me right in that sweet, emotional chaos I crave—where love isn’t clean, choices have consequences, and the heroine doesn’t just survive, she builds an empire in stilettos while raising a secret alpha pup.
From the first chapter, I was rooting for her—our girl who went from sweet, coffee-flirty intern to full-blown boss mom with a heart stitched together by betrayal and grit. Gabriel? Whew. The audacity. That man had me ready to throw my Kindle across the room when she overheard him dismiss her like a fling. A fling? Sir, she was your mate, and you tossed that bond like it meant nothing? The slap she gave him? Not enough. I wanted to reach through the page and add a roundhouse kick.
But the glow-up? The power this woman walks back into town with after seven years? I was living. She’s not just back to stir the pot—she’s here to light the whole damn kitchen on fire. The way she handles Gabriel, the way she demands answers, the cash toss moment? Iconic. Put it on a t-shirt. Frame it.
And let’s talk about that twist—the daughter. Oh, Gabriel didn’t just eat humble pie, he choked on it. Watching his world unravel when he finds out about their child had me clapping with petty satisfaction and crying because yeah, they still love each other… and that hurts.
But this isn’t just about second-chance romance. It’s about redemption, revenge, and reclaiming what was stolen—not just love, but dignity, family, and truth. And when the story starts to peel back the layers around her father’s murder and the corruption in the pack? That’s when I knew this wasn’t a one-sitting read—it was an obsession.
If you love a heroine who walks through fire carrying secrets and sass, an alpha male who has to earn every damn ounce of forgiveness, and a plot that weaves betrayal with the burning ache of unfinished love—The Alpha’s Broken Bond will wreck you in the best way. Flora R. Leigh didn’t just write a book. She wrote a revenge anthem with fangs.
Gabriel might’ve broken the bond, but she broke me. And I’ll gladly come crawling back for Book 2.

Aurora is an intern working hard to follow her dreams after learning her father was murdered and didn't abandon her as she thought. Gabriel is the alpha heir but hiding his real identity to work as an intern to learn business from the ground up. They fall in love and begin a secret relationship where Aurora gets pregnant. At her job that night she accidentally discovers Gabriels true identity and overhears him saying hurtful and cruel things so she rejects him and runs. Seven yrs he has tried to find her cursing himself for the biggest mistake of his life with no luck until finally she shows up. What follows is a complicated path of working for forgiveness, atonement, discovery, heartache, shock, and so much more which trying to find her father's killer and gabriel tries breaking free finally from his father's grasp. its an emotionally gripping story where despite learning from his mistake he makes the same one again, where trust once broken is so hard to get back, where forgiveness is complicated and the path to love is rocky and treacherous esp when facing extreme danger. will they ever be able to overcome their past, the lies, the trauma, the heart break esp when gabriel discovers a piece of the puzzle he never dreamed was missing. real world problems in a well written richly detailed plot.
I received an arc copy from booksprout and this is my honest voluntary review.

This time Flora R. Leigh brings us a secret baby, second-chance romance in The Alpha's Broken Bond. A little twist on the rejected-mate, secret-baby trope that I love so much.

The MCs were good. Aurora had a bit of fire in her belly. She built herself up from nothing and wasn't one to forgive easily. No, she made you work for it, as Gabriel soon found out. He wasn't like "the devil in disguise" or anything; he was just a bit of an idiot and repeated some mistakes. So I didn't hate him with my entire being, which is a good thing. Haha. It was their daughter Lila who stole the show. Omg, that little girl was a hoot. She was too smart for her own good, and I adored her for it.

I enjoyed the plot; it was different. After thinking her father was a criminal and abandoning her, Aurora finds out it was all a lie. She dives in to discover the truth and starts doing a lot of investigating. Collect data and low-key asking questions. She gets a big break, then things get a little risky, which is exciting. The plot was good. I really liked the suspense and mystery, and the plot twist was good. Overall I enjoyed the Alpha's Broken Bond.

Gabriel and Aurora. They meet at work as interns and fall in love. He’s actually an Alphas son.

She’s working at a bar to save money and buy G a gift. She’s outside the door working a party for Alphas sons and hears G says it’s not serious and she’s just a fling. She slaps him and rejects him.

Seven years later he tracks her down. She’s running a successful business and has his 6 year old daughter Lila. She’s also investigating her father’s death.

He’s engaged to Amanda but just for political gain. He breaks off the engagement officially even though he never planned to marry her.

58% he leaves for a work issue. Amanda shows up showing her pictures of them together that night. Tells her to check her computer. Security footage shows Gabriel’s erasing all her research files on dad’s murder.

Can he find a way to rekindle their bond?

A great story full of fated mates, rejection, romance, misunderstandings, politics, second chances and love, with a wonderfully strong willed FMC who makes her own choices, a protective Alpha MMC, some great twists and a HEA.

After discovering she was pregnant, Aurora is shocked to discover her fated mate is the heir of an Alpha, not an intern like herself, and that he's engaged. So she rejects him and runs.

For seven years he searches for her, never wanting to give up on his love for her, but can he help her when he does; and how will he feel when he learns she kept his daughter a secret?

Aurora was working as an intern when she met Gabriel a fellow intern who turned out to be her fated mate. They had been together for a couple months when she discovered that she was pregnant. But it turns out that she didn't know Gabriel as well as she thought. After overhearing him with some friends talking derogatory about her she immediately left him. Gabriel spent 7 years trying to locate Aurora with no luck. In that time he was also fighting to get out from under his father's thumb. Whenever we appears she also brings a lot of danger with her because she's trying to clear her father's name.

A lesson learned for Aurora and Gabriel

This is book one and a take about young lovers who are new, mates, but are holding secrets. Aurora is an intern and working hard to get ahead. Gabriel is working hard too to take over as Alpha of their pack. These two are dating and are in love. They are not so good about communication. But one day, Aurora was assigned to the VIP lounge and unfortunately Gabriel was there with his uppity acquaintances and friends who are speaking derogatory about Aurora Black. The story begins there and there is a happy ending. Read On!

This was an awesome read! The suspense throughout was the perfect blend, along with the bond of love, broken trust and broken hearts. Extremely well paced, the plot thickened from start to finish, with the finale a blend of justice and healing. Well written and very well edited, this book will take you on a wild ride you won't regret!.

A passable read if none of your favourite authors have a new release for you.

The story was good enough but many, many issues, including pack names from the first book in this series repeated but obviously different ones, character names repeated too. Some dubcon where FMC and MMC sleep together despite him having just rescued her from someone spiking her drink which was almost a carbon copy of part of the previous book too.

A Broken Bond Reformed

Walking in on him and his "friends" after she heard him dissing her broke her heart. She walked away not telling him her secret. He searched for her for seven years and found her drugged and helpless. He saved her but she never told him he had a daughter. A lot of action, adventure, lies and truths coming to the forefront but they eventually got their HEA.

Received this book to review. Pretty decent read for a second chance romance trope. Groveling by MMC and stubborn FMC. Good plot to add some mystery to the search for the main culprit of the crime. All in all a fast read for me.

Needs Work

FMC and MMC break apart at the beginning due to... Miscommunication and lies! Big surprise. Not really. Secret babies seem to be a big thing in these things huh? A lot of formatting and grammatical errors and the characters lack personality. 3 Stars at best.

I had to stop reading at 67 % because the fmc, her female bestie, and Lila were being attacked on page. I can’t stand that.
The 6 year old talks like she is an adult. That’s too weird.
