Apricot Jennings grew up privileged, but the privilege came with a price. Her father was powerul. He was merciless and the life he lived came with bloodshed, murder, and mayhem. When she was old enough to do so, Apricot made the decision to distance herself from Devin Jennings and his criminal organization. Apricot soon learns that her father would go to crazy lengths to keep her close, and it makes her even more standoffish. When the unthinkable occurs, the person that provides Apricot comfort is a man that most women covet. But Uno Sparks is the younger, slightly wiser version of Devin, and Apricot wants to utilize her common sense and run, but the attraction is undeniable....
Uno Sparks keeps his head down and out of the way. He's been working under Devin Jennings since he was a teen, and he's finally ready to take a higher spot on the totem pole. When tragedy strikes, Uno is thrown into a position of power sooner than expected. It's not one that he asked for but one he doesn't know if he can walk away from. Choices have to be made and lines may have to be crossed.
Natisha what a good read. What I loved was the humbleness of Apricot. Many would have acted differently from her. Watching her take a tragic incident and lean on her heart was such a good life lesson. To see someone take care of a person's health mentality and emotional needs as well as take care of their own was admirable. Thank you for showing life lessons on true love. 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Whew 😮💨 the twists and turns in this one were WILD. Apricot almost had me mad at the girl, not gonna lie 😂. I understood her not wanting any parts of what her “dad” had going on… but choosing to struggle on purpose?? That’s crazy work!
Now let’s talk about Uno—because whew! 🥵 That man is 100% book bae. He was not here for Apricot’s nonsense, and I loved that about him. Their relationship was a slow, budding situation done right, and I was so happy they got their HEA.
Mama and daddy? A whole Walmart store full of secrets 😭—but honestly, I get why they moved the way they did. And poor Devin Jr.… lil tink tink. I felt bad for him at first until I realized… yeah, no, he was actually unhinged.
Overall, this was a really good read. The spicy scenes were 💯, even though there weren’t many since it’s a shorter book. Great storytelling, strong characters, and just enough mess to keep me hooked. Well done!
Drug dealers, lies, deception and secrets. I actually gave the book a 4.5 rating. It started out slow with Apricot, a kingpin’s daughter, wanting to be independent and not accept money from her dad once she found out what he did for a living. After her dad was shot, she found out the things that her father did to get his way and secrets that her mom, dad and UNO kept from her. The character development of Apricot and UNO was quite noticeable throughout the book. The cover was awesome.
Apricot’s life was not all peaches and cream. It’s crazy she went through so much when she tried to stir clear of the chaos that comes with being the kingpins daughter. She witnessed so much and so did her daughter, Kiwi. It’s a good thing Uno came around. He was always in the right place at the right time. Their kids hit it off, and they eventually became a family.
Apricot was a challenging character, and while I didn’t always agree with her choices, she added complexity to the story. Her contradictions and struggles felt layered, even if frustrating at times.
Uno was a standout…I loved him as a responsible, caring father, and he brought a lot of heart to the story. The ending wrapped up well, and the secrets revealed about Apricot’s parents were surprising. Overall, I was invested until the end.
Apricot story was crazy. She was this red head black chick with a kingpin father. She hated what he did for a living. She wants to stay clear of that lifestyle. That’s cool until she meets Uno who works for her father. This not your typical daughter starts to fall for the father worker book. There will be secrets revealed. This was a real good read but I didn’t expect anything least.
Apricot by Natasha Raynor was such a great way to start the new year. I was hooked from the very first page all the way to the end. The story truly didn’t disappoint, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I loved it so much that I need a physical copy for my shelf. Highly recommend!
This is actually my second time reading this book because I bought it from her website when it first dropped. I like the fact that Apricot was independent and wanted to raise her daughter differently than she was raised but unfortunately Kiwi was still exposed to Devin’s kingpin lifestyle. I liked Uno and Apricot together
Most children want to walk or grow up to be like their parents. Apricot wanted no parts of the life her parents provided for her with. While Uno mother wanted no parts of the life he chose. Two different people wanting to live life in their own standards.
