“Bunicul de ciocolată: Secretul Vechiului Cufăr” de Narine Abgarian și Valentin Postnikov
“Bunicul de ciocolată: Secretul Vechiului Cufăr” este primul volum din seria cu același nume scris de scriitoarea de bestseller, Narine Abgarian și de Valentin Postnikov. Ne vom bucura de ilustrațiile Irinei Petelina, iar traducerea din rusă în limba română a fost realizată de Elena Drăgușin-Richard.
Stilul celor doi scriitori este ușor de digerat și chiar amuzant, reușind în același timp să fie educativ și să ne țină în suspans. Lumea creată de ei ne amintește de “Charlie și fabrica de ciocolată” de Roald Dahl, seriile “Mary Poppins” de P. L. Travers, “Dădaca Matilda” de Christianna Brand, „Stăpânul Inelelor” de J. R. R. Tolkien și de legendele arthuriene.
Bunicul de ciocolată revine în această poveste dulce, care ne dezvăluie secretul cufărului vechi și ne răspunde la întrebările pe care ni le-am pus la sfârșitul primei cărți. El și stră-străbunicul lui se aseamănă cu Merlin și Stăpânul Cărților din filmul cu același nume, întrucât amândoi își folosesc puterile pentru a ajuta omenirea, devin mentori pentru viitoarele generații, reușind în același timp să-i ghideze pe răufăcători pe calea mântuirii. Oscar reușește să le facă pe Surorile Paulson și pe domnul Olafsen să-și recunoască greșelile și toți patru ajung să trăiască o viață fericită ca o familie.
Vom învăța de-a lungul poveștii despre bunătate, generozitate, încredere, curiozitate, iubire, familie, curaj, istețime, echilibru, sacrificiu, iertare, împăcare, speranță cât și despre consecințele înțelegerii greșite a lucrurilor.
Scena în care Oscar este îngrijit de Mama Timpului în satul vikingilor ne amintește de scenele în care Pinocchio este îngrijit de Zâna Albastră, iar faptul că puterile speciale ale Bunicului de ciocolată dispar după ce repară răul produs de cele trei surori ne amintește de Prospero, care îl eliberează pe Ariel și renunță la puterile lui de-ndată ce lucrurile s-au rezolvat din piesa „Furtuna” de William Shakespeare.
Schimbarea surorilor din femei rigide, posace și răutăcioase în doamne amabile, mămoase, prietenoase, harnice, grijulii și vesele ne amintește de expresia „să ai un spirit tânăr”. Țelul Matildei de a îndeplini dorința stră-străbunicului ei de a inventa un leac, care să vindece omenirea de toate bolile din lume este simbolic, reprezentând o rază de speranță pentru un viitor mai bun.
Mister, suspans, legături de familie, umor, magie și aventură sunt cuvintele care descriu acest roman. Recomand această carte cititorilor de la 8+ întrucât sunt unele subiecte pe care cititorii mai mici nu le pot înțelege.

“Chocolate Granddad: The Secret of the Old Chest” is the first book of the series with the same name written by bestseller author Narine Abgaryan and co-author Valentin Postnikov. We will enjoy Irina Petelina’s illustrations accompanying the text and it was translated from Russian into the Romanian language by Elena Drăgușin-Richard.
The two authors’ writing style is easy to digest and even humorous, managing to be educational and to keep us in suspense at the same time. The world that they created reminds us of „Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl, the „Mary Poppins” book series by P. L. Travers, the „Nurse Matilda” book series by Christianna Brand, the „Lord of the Rings” book series by J. R. R. Tolkien and of the Arthurian legends.
The Chocolate Granddad returns in this sweet story that uncovers the secret of the old chest and answers the questions we asked ourselves at the end of the first book. He and his great-great grandfather are like Merlin and the Pagemaster from the movie with the same name since both use their powers to help humanity, become mentors to the future generations, also managing to guide the villains on the path of redemption. Oscar manages to make the Paulson Sisters and Mr. Olafsen to see the error of their ways and all four live a happy life as a family in the end.
Throughout the story, we will learn about kindness, generosity, trust, curiosity, love, family, courage, cleverness, balance, sacrifice, forgiveness, reconciliation, hope and also the consequences of misunderstanding things.
The scene in which Oscar is nursed by Mother Time in the Viking Village reminds us of the scenes in which Pinocchio is cared for by the Blue Fairy and the fact that Chocolate Granddad’s powers disappear after he undid the evil done by the three sisters reminds us of how Prospero sets Ariel free and gives up his powers after things are taken care of in William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”.
The sisters changing from stern, sour, nasty women to kind, motherly, friendly, diligent, caring and cheerful ladies reminds us of the expression „to be young at heart”. Matilda’s goal to fulfill her great-great grandfather’s wish for developing a cure for all diseases of the world is symbolic, representing a ray of hope for a brighter future.
Mystery, suspense, family ties, humor and adventure are the words to describe this novel. I recommend this book to readers 8+ since there are topics that younger readers can’t understand.

„Тайната на старата ракла“ на Нарине Абгарян (изд. „Лабиринт“) е очаквано завръщане към онзи топъл, чудат и пълен с чудеса свят, обитаван от Мартин, Матилда и техния дядо Оскар, по-известен като Дядо Шоколад. Абгарян отново демонстрира способността си да разказва за магията така, че тя да изглежда напълно естествено, като част от всекидневието - нещо, което просто се случва на хора с огромно въображение и още по-голямо сърце.
