Determined to save the child, Bell and her fugitive partners search for the child. But Bell worries the child’s parents recognized Wolf from the news.
Why did the madman take this boy?
In every shadow, Bell expects to find the dead child. Holding on to the slim hope that she can find the killer before it’s too late, she leads Gardy and Wolf on a desperate chase through an endless forest.
I just finished reading an ARC copy of Forest of Scars by Dan Padavona. It’s hard to believe he can follow up on Girl Under the Sun, the previous entry in the Scarlett Bell-Logan Wolf series. It is now 14 books strong. The three FBI fugitives Wolf, Bell and Gardy along with Harold the IT specialist who fled with them, are on the hunt for an elusive and long-time serial killer, dubbed the Equinox Killer. The locale of the deep forests of the Adirondacks is the perfect place for the fabled and feared monster who strikes every 7 years when all of his desired criteria are lined up, taking young children for his own twisted “gift” to them of eternity and oneness with nature’s beauty. To further complicate the trio’s hunt for this psychotic fiend and Wolf’s plan to eliminate yet another serial killer, Special Agent Sinclair’s team gets wind of their presence and tries to take over the search and rescue operation of a young boy lured into the woods from his parents’ campsite. Ranger Thorne and Sinclair are deadlocked as to who should be in command, and Sinclair seemingly forgets about the kidnapped boy as her lust to track down and kill the 3 fugitive former FBI agents is first in her mind. What follows is a complex and heart pounding struggle deep in the unforgiving forest, the amazing skills of Wolf and his team and all the brutal forces of Nature convening to a thrilling, really thrilling climax. I did not guess the ending til right at the ending! I strongly suggest reading at least 4-5 books earlier in the series to appreciate the intricate dynamics going on in this book. Enjoy, just not late at night.
What a continuation of the Logan and Scarlett Series. You've got the FBI fugitives, the FBI team chasing them and the Equinox Killer. This was a whirl wind story. I had the Equinox Killer figured out from the get go, I just needed the confirmation at the end there were times I questioned my guess. Agent Sinclair is becoming a big problem for the fugitives. She has tunnel vision for only the fugitives and is willing to let innocent children die. That is not good, I'm hoping it gets her in trouble soon. With Agent Sinclair's judgment compromised, you got the fugitives fighting to not kill innocents. I love the dynamics between Scarlett, Gardy and Wolf. I love how Scarlett and Gardy are the moral compass for Wolf. They do everything to prevent killing anybody. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader's copy.
The latest novel by Dan Padavona, I’ve been a fan and loved this series a lot. It’s on the edge of being deranged in my opinion which gives it something not many authors give. Dan has been putting out those ‘on the edge of your seat’ books for a while now and whilst I normally always rate his books 4,5 or 5 stars, this one has a bit of a lower score. Normally, I just can’t even guess who the killer is, not until the very end, but this one was different. It got spoiled somewhere in the beginning, which had me thinking, surely there is going to be a twist or something? I haven’t read a book by Dan in which he spoils… and yet he did in this one. Still a solid nerve-wracking story.
Fugitive FBI Agents Scarlett Bell, Gardy and Logan Wolf are hunting the so-called Equinox Killer deep in the Adirondack forest. But closing in on them with her team is Agent Sinclair, who has her own agenda, as the body count rises and death lurks in the shadows.
Totally engaging characters are in non-stop action throughout this riveting, psychological thriller, while the atmospheric locations add an extra layer of intensity.
Don't miss Forest Of Scars by Dan Padavona whatever else you read this year... it's unputdownable!
So I love the Logan and Scarlet series so much, when I started this book I wasn’t quite sure what direction it would take, but it was an amazing book and I could not put it down ! Don’t want to reveal any secrets, but it’s an absolute must read. If you haven’t tried Dan Padavona’s books. They are all great books and you should definitely give them a try. This is the best serial killer thriller series I’ve ever read.. 5+ STARS
Another great Scarlett & Wolfe book; always exciting!
This was a very satisfying Scarlett Bell/Logan Wolfe book. The story grabbed me right from the start and kept me riveted to the end. I kinda suspected the identity of the killer here, but it was still good to see how things unfolded. Can't say I like Agent Sinclair tho.
This has been an amazing series filled with heart pounding adventures. Too be perfectly honest as exciting as it is to see the trio working together it continues to be sad that they are considered the enemy. Labeled corrupt, guilty as well as fugitives without the facts.
Dan Padavona is one of my favorite authors. His Logan and Scarlett series is one of the best I’ve ever read. This one ties for my favorite. The storyline is top-notch, the suspense is never ending with a very interesting twist on the killer. If you have followed and read the series, this one is a must have. Another great job Dan.
This series has been my favorite for a very long time. Each book that comes out is always worth the wait. Dan writes and weaves his stories around my mind, my body and my subconscious. Until his characters are an integral part of me.
I read all of his books. But I am Scarlett Bell on the inside, where it counts.
Dan Pandora doesn't disappoint. This story.starts off strong and continues to the last page. I was worried as the book came to a close but can't give way the ending. I really appreciate the way the characters meld together for a.common purpose. Unusual setting for this drama that made it all the more exciting.
This was an extremely complex, intense, and suspenseful thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. It's another close call for the former FBI Agents, but will they be able to slip the grasp of multiple agencies? It's certainly not a story or series to be missed. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
Dan does it again, I am amazed that he creates such crazy and challenging characters. The crew saves everyone, but can't take the recognition and stay under the radar. I can't believe what a pain Sinclair is, doesn't even care who saved her.

Great story with the characters that we know well and root for. The last 20% or so of the book was riveting! I chewed through the last 50 plus pages in no time needing to find out how this one ended. Another great book by DP!
A missing child and Bell's team fight to save him while eluding the crack FBI team who are hunting them. Love the dynamic between Bell, Wolf and Gardy, my only regret... it ended too soon.
Another great suspenseful story. This author has you from page 1. It is always a thrilling story. Very difficult to put down in till your finished with the book.
Love the 3 fugitives together. They could have just dropped Sinclair and their troubles could have been lightened. Can't wait for their next adventure.
