Right Before My Eyes

Rate this book
Sophomore Sarah Mitchell came to Grace Valley Christian College hoping to find her place in the world. Instead, she finds herself struggling with faith, identity—and the uneasy sense that someone is watching her.

At first, it’s easy to dismiss the strange moments that interrupt her routine. But on a quiet campus tucked deep in the mountains, the small disturbances begin to add up. The silence lingers too long. Shadows seem to follow her steps. And someone appears to know far more about Sarah than they should.

As the feeling grows impossible to ignore, Sarah begins to question whether the danger around her is real—or if she’s simply losing her grip on reality.

This story I found to be interesting while not an entire part of what I usually read. I always love a thriller though especially psychological thrillers. The story was definitely interesting and honestly I can say that I can relate to the FMC to some degrees with the situation. The FMC being at a Christian College sets the general setting but you get the sense of things being off at the start. The author does good with setting the vibes factor for the moments such as when there's a storm and lights flickering and the power going out. While the FMC feels like she is being watched well she isn't wrong. There is Multi POVs, 3 to be precise. There's definitely the feeling of being stalked and you see it throughout the story as well, and it does make you want to think twice about strangers coming into your life. Was it truly an accident? Or orchestrated at someone else's hand? Now while she may have a stalker what happens when the stalker finds out there's a second stalker? Are intentions what matter? Either way, there's something going on and Sarah is at the heart of it.

If you like psychological thrillers with there being stalkers, religion (more plot oriented rather than preaching), the vibes that you look for when you watch movies alone at night then, mind games being played with the fmc, and unsure of just who you should trust then I would give this one a try.

"Right Before My Eyes" by Angela Diane really pulls you into a world where the line between reality and perception is constantly shifting. The way the story weaves Sarah’s internal struggles with the eerie, almost haunting atmosphere of Grace Valley Christian College makes you feel both comforted and unsettled at the same time. It’s one of those books that starts off relatable (someone just trying to find their place) and then gradually reveals darker, more dangerous layers that keep you hooked until the very last page. The setting wasnt just a backdrop, but from my understanding it was a mirror to Sarah’s own sense of sanctuary and isolation, which makes the suspense feel even more personal and intense.

I REALLY loved this book and I would recommend this highly to anyone who enjoys books like “The Last Thing He Told Me” by Laura Dave or “Turn the Key” by Ruth Ware.

If I could give this book 6 stars I would.

Really enjoyed this one. Right Before My Eyes pulled me in quickly with its eerie campus setting and the constant sense that something was just a little off. The alternating perspectives added a lot of tension, especially seeing how obsession can twist ordinary moments into something unsettling. Sarah was easy to root for, and I liked how her uncertainty about fitting in made her feel real and relatable.

The pacing kept me turning pages, and the atmosphere was one of the book’s strongest qualities. The author does a great job building suspense while also exploring themes of faith, control, and vulnerability. A few sections felt a bit repetitive or could have been tightened, but overall it was a gripping read that kept me invested.

If you enjoy psychological suspense with strong tension and emotional depth, this is worth picking up. Solid 4 stars.

Angela Diane’s Right Before My Eyes is a taut psychological thriller that blurs the line between what’s seen, what’s believed, and what lurks just beyond perception. This novel explores not just what threats are visible, but also the more dangerous ones that hide in shadow.

From the opening chapters, Diane establishes a compelling central character in Sarah, a college sophomore who is grappling with questions of faith, identity, and belonging. Her journey is set against the backdrop of Grace Valley Christian College, a remote and beautiful campus with quiet halls and soaring views that invoke both sanctuary and isolation. This setting becomes more than scenery; it mirrors Sarah’s own internal conflict, reinforcing the sense that escape and refuge are never fully secure.

I won this book in a giveaway, so thank you to the author! The story pulls you in and has you fearing for the main character, Sarah, as she has "friends" who stalk her for different reasons. At first, I felt frustrated at Sarah's unwillingness to address the problem, always brushing off her intuitive feelings, but perhaps she just wanted to see the best in people, and made the mistake of being more trusting than she should have been. I guess if I was in the same situation in real life, I might not be thinking rationally either. The multiple POVs gave the story more complexity, although I understood Michael way better than I understood David! Not a bad debut at all! Congratulations, Angela Diane!

This was a good read. It follows Sarah, a college sophomore just trying to figure out who she is and where she fits, which is relatable, but then a creepy feeling that she’s being watched is added to the mix. The setting at Grace Valley Christian College adds a lot to the mood. It’s beautiful and quiet, but also isolating. As Sarah struggles, things start getting unsettling with small, strange moments that make you question what’s real. The mysterious observer pulls you in and makes it hard to put down. It’s one of those books that feels normal at first but slowly turns eerie, but by the end you’re hooked.

A page-turning psychological thriller that kept me reading way past my bedtime. This novel reminds me of the Netflix series You, but with an additional character in the mix, only adding to the suspense. I honestly didn't know how it would end!

The writing was beautiful and poetic; the settings were atmospheric and relatable.

As a Christian, I especially appreciated the ending. Rather than portraying God in a negative light, the story highlights how people twist His words for their own purposes and control.

If you like pschyological thrillers - or the series, You - this one is for you!

You want a psychological thriller, you say, then this book is for you. First, what a great premise! I won’t spoil the surprise, but I can’t believe no one has done it sooner. And the suspense! It kept me on the edge of my seat/couch/bed. But it's not only a good idea and twisty as a pretzel. The characters and their faults are so real, it really drives the suspense to the deepest depths. Some parts are so creepy they literally gave me shivers. I couldn’t stop reading it and finished the book in three days.

This book was a bit creepy with the main character feeling as though she was being watched and yet not knowing for sure and then finding out that the people she thought were protecting her were actually the ones watching her. It was interesting reading the three main characters povs throughout the story. I felt sorry for Sarah as both guys had their sights set on her for different reasons and I felt that neither one deserved her.
Thanks for the free book.

I really enjoyed this twisty, suspenseful thriller. It's a unique storyline, one I've never seen before, and the author did a great job of creating an uneasy mood throughout. The setting was also unique, and helped contribute to the unsettling feeling. I liked the ending - everything felt tied up and without giving away any spoilers, I was satisfied with the protagonist's clarity and growth. I will definitely check out more books by Angela!

Oh Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.
I love a good psychological thriller and this one ticks all the boxes.
Right from the start there's an eerie feeling, something is off, something is creeping.
It's doubt wrapped in fear wrapped in lies.
If you enjoy feeling like you've been transported inside the book, right along the characters, feeling their feelings, their doubts and sharing their most inner thoughts, you will definitely love this one.

This book is a haunting ride. The eerie setting of Grace Valley Christian College was the perfect backdrop for Sarah’s struggle with faith, identity, and paranoia. The alternating perspectives were genius—it gave me goosebumps knowing someone was watching her every move. A thriller that stays with you long after you finish.

Loved this book. It had me shouting internally at Sarah.

Loved the different POV’s, cleverly revealing a bit of the plot at a time.

Was a real page turner. Couldn’t wait to find out how it all panned out as we watched it unfurl.

Enjoyed the ending too, wasn’t predictable or cliffhanger.

Genuinely good read.

Diane does a great job of setting up the tension from the very beginning.

Do you ever feel like you’re being watched?

Sarah is attending college and that is exactly how she feels, but her instincts aren’t wrong. Through multiple POVs we see that play out on the page. Between the tension and suspense this one kept me turning pages late into the night.

If you’re looking for a psychological thriller that’s smart, layered, and deeply unsettling, look no further. Angela Diane captures the suffocating tension of being watched in such a realistic way. I felt Sarah’s fear as if it were my own. Brilliantly written and unforgettable.

My three stars was an average rating of my five stars for the overall skill of writing. The character building and setting the scene was excellent, but only one star due to lack of plot twist nor mystery.

Great psychological thriller that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat the entire time you are reading it! I made the "mistake" of reading the majority of this book during a thunderstorm! Angela Diane did a great job with the multiple POV that had me guessing throughout the book! I loved the twist at the end!

Book Review: Right Before My Eyes by Angela Diane 🔥📚

Rating:5/5

Review:

👉Right Before My Eyes is a deeply unsettling and emotionally riveting psychological thriller that draws readers into a world where safety is an illusion and danger hides in the silence. Angela Diane masterfully crafts a narrative that is as haunting as it is thought-provoking, blending themes of identity, faith, obsession, and psychological vulnerability into a story that lingers long after the final page.

👉The story follows Sarah, a college sophomore who is quietly navigating the fragile process of self-discovery while attending Grace Valley Christian College. Surrounded by mountains and wrapped in stillness, the campus appears serene from the outside, but beneath that surface lies something far more disturbing. Sarah finds herself slowly unraveling, troubled by a sense that she is being watched and manipulated, though there is no visible proof. Her trust in her environment and even in herself begins to erode, layer by layer.

👉Angela Diane's writing style is atmospheric and immersive, capturing the claustrophobia of isolation and the heavy weight of spiritual dissonance. The novel paints vivid emotional and physical landscapes, allowing readers to feel the cold unease creeping into Sarah’s everyday life. Small moments such as a moved object, a distant shadow, or a strange silence are transformed into chilling warnings, building tension with careful precision.

👉The story alternates between Sarah’s experience and the internal perspective of an unknown observer, someone who knows her routines, thoughts, and vulnerabilities far too well. This dual perspective creates a deep and unnerving intimacy, exposing the terrifying reality of being known too completely by someone hiding in plain sight. It also elevates the suspense, as readers are pulled into the mind of both the watched and the watcher, building a slow-burn fear that tightens with every chapter.

👉This novel explores the emotional toll of being unseen and unheard while simultaneously being targeted and scrutinized.

Happy reading 😁😁
