i love the vast personalities for each lil dog 💞 we get some more insight into oliver’s history, and he gives kiyotaka advice regarding his feelings for chiharu!

Sooooo cute!!

Precious, sweet, and feel good as always!

However, I did feel my heart deeply aching for Oliver when we saw his backstory! 😭 Never would have imagined that was his story and makes me even more thankful for pets and how they impact our lives in powerful ways! 🥺

I thought the overall volume was SUPER cute! The dog event was so fun and creative, and I deeply enjoyed seeing our leads and their doggos hang out together!

Also, I’m shipping Chako and Takaya so much! I truly hope we see them spend more time together in future volumes!

Very much another wonderful volume that left me feeling so happy! I will definitely continue to recommend this manga if you’re looking for something heartwarming and relaxing!

just what my cute, slice-of-life romance series needed—a DEVASTATING side story

This read is cozier than a warehouse fire at a blanket factory. Which Kiyotaka would inevitably show up to put out, naturally. It’s a pretty standard romance, yet it is suffused with adorable animals that are impossible to resist.

Seeing Kiyotaka and Chiharu slowly bond is fine, they’re really a typical ‘shy but getting there’ sort of manga coupling. Even with the addition of the not really a rival guy, Oliver, who has his own sad personal drama, the two of them are basically a lock.

Which would make this pretty average except for the vibes. Yes, this survives and thrives on its animal vibes. The dainty Doberman, Tsubu, and the perky Pom, Mon, basically steal the show here.

And, honestly, whatever is left is stolen by the overly person-like, yet still fantastic, Aniki. I’m not one for anthropomorphism in a story like this, but he’s got this wise old man aura that makes me laugh.

For a story about two people brought together by their animals that are nothing like them, this is absolutely better than it should be. Honestly, the romance is arguably secondary to seeing the pups doing pup things.

The side characters and animals are also enjoyable enough and used sparingly enough. I think too much focus elsewhere would cause this to meander more than it could stand, narratively speaking. The balance is good.

4 stars - not a lot to say about this one except it remains strong. It’s a nice way to do a romance and being focused on actual adults is always a welcome change of pace.

Oliver's backstory?! My HEART?!

Recap: Kiyotaka is called away for a fire emergency. Chiharu holds onto their pictures to give him in person. Sweet moment for the innkeeper and the brother. Kiyotaka is back and invites her to a dog event. They go together, have fun, ending with Oliver telling Kiyotaka his love back story and then Chiharu giving him a photo album.

Super cute. I'm very surprised to find that I like the rival photographer, Oliver, who turns out to just be a really nice guy...with a sad backstory.

The true love story of this whole series is the dogs with their people, and that's kind of refreshing. While the human bonding is important and there are a couple of really sweet relationships budding, the real source of stability is the dog waiting for each of them back home. It actually takes some of the weight off the romance and allows them to get to know each other at their own pace.

Kiyotaka is funny because he is wildly eligible. Tall, handsome, kind, a firefighter...why he would feel insecure around a pretty lady is beyond me, but that's just part of his personality. I liked him making real attempts to compliment Chiharu and getting flustered when he failed. And then trying to seek advice from the suave Oliver rather than getting jealous of him.

Chiharu has totally fallen for Kiyotaka's charm and is making quiet moves of her own. I liked the little moment when she started to hand the dog photos over to Kiyotaka's brother and then realized if she saved them, she'd have an excuse to meet up again. Sly and sweet.

This is a charming, feel good series.

Super cute! We’re getting adorable doggies but also progression in the romance. Finally Kiyotaka has admitted to himself that he has feelings for Chiharu. Now we just have to wait for him to actually say something to her…

Seeing Oliver’s backstory was nice, if sad. Hopefully his former girlfriend will turn up at some point and they can reconcile but since it’s been three years, maybe not. 🥲

I read this volume in just one sitting! It was super cute and the MCs are slowing figuring out their feelings for one another, one chapter at a time. More doggie fun was had, along with the hope for something more teased at the end of the story…now, I have to wait until November for the next volume to release 😩🐾
