K. A. Riley is a writer of speculative and science fiction, dedicated to creating worlds just different enough from our own to be entertaining, intriguing and a little frightening all at once. For Riley, writing isn't a job. It's a laboratory where readers can wander into a land of ideas; it's a playground where they can scamper around, giggling, gasping, and freaking out to their hearts' content.
Riley is the top-secret pen-name of a NYT and USA Today best-selling author.
Book 6 of the Thrall series concludes the original story arc and fittingly. Everything was wrapped up nicely and I enjoyed the series. I really liked the main female character Sol being a strong and decisive woman. So many dystopian stories make them very wishy washy and it drives me nuts and I just don't like them. Thus it makes it harder for me to enjoy the story. Thank you K. A. Riley for another great series and I am going to miss the forever smartass Bella!
I can't get enough of K.A. Riley's writing. This series is my favorite so far. So much happened in this book to wrap up this (second) trilogy and it was perfect.
A great ending to Soleia’s story, with several twists bedded into the book. Soleia with the help of her sister Shara, Bastian her lover, and Bella her inner being, navigate how to end Sylvan’s reign of the city underground. Soleia must make difficult decisions along the journey and needs to decide if she’s willing to sacrifice for her loved ones.
I loved how Riley continues to introduce more about the main characters, rather than just advance the plot. We find out more about Bastian’s, and Bella’s powers. Of course, Soleia is always learning more on how to use hers. The sister bond between Shara and Soleia is protective and close and willing to do anything for each other. I love how Shara who just met Soleia not too long ago in the previous books feels a deep with her sister and willing to do anything for her, along with her Shara’s lover Thorne.
The conflict in the story starts close to the beginning of the book, and doesn’t end till close to the end. Therefore, I was drawn into the storyline from the very beginning, and didn’t want to put it down because I needed to see how Soleia would solve the problem. I absolutely loved the several twists within the books. I almost cried during some, and didn’t see them coming at all.
I did give this a 4.5 mainly because of the language and the spice. Thankfully the spice was only part of two chapters- one in the beginning and one in the end. But the language I could have done without. Yes, K.A. Riley warned us at the beginning of the book, but I love her YA books and needed to read this series because it was written by her. I cannot wait till the next book comes out in 2026!!
I just finished book 6 of the Thrall series by K.A. Riley, and I have mixed feelings.
The ending was really good and honestly made pushing through worth it. But the beginning and middle felt pretty repetitive to me. A lot of the same thoughts and situations kept coming up, and it started to drag.
I really think this book could’ve been combined with the previous one and been so much stronger. There was good stuff here, it just felt stretched out more than it needed to be.
That’s why it stood out how much I loved the first three books. They were well-paced, more interesting, and kept my attention the whole time. Everything felt fresher back then, and I was way more invested.
I’m still glad I finished the series, and the ending definitely helped. I just wish the later books had kept the same pacing and energy as the beginning.
I'm kicking myself in the pants for letting this book slip through the cracks and not reading it sooner!
I fell in love with this author and the Thrall series in 2023 and have been eagerly awaiting the other books in this series! It's been a wild ride from start to finish and I love the fact that we do get stories from other characters while still continuing with the main storyline.
There were definitely many twists one did not see coming all while K.A. Riley introduces more about the main characters that give us insight into their powers. I also love seeing the bond between Shara and Soleia grow despite them not knowing that they were sisters for long.
I absolutely cannot wait for book 7 and will definitely be adding physical copies of these books to my shelves.
I have not been a huge fan of the Soleia’s storyline. It’s ok but I found I skimmed A LOT of this book. Her decisions do not always fit with her character and are so ill chosen that she just becomes really unlikable in this book. If you started the series, it is worth the read to finish her storyline but I don’t know that I will read Stray’s upcoming storyline books.
This book was one hell of a wild ride and that ended definitely brought out a few tears! Bella was absolutely the star of the show for me in Soleia's arc and I really didn't see that ending coming. Definitely recommend this book and all of the series so far
