The writing is good, but the plot is extremely sparsely doled out. You’d expect it to progress a bit further than what’s in the synopsis, but no. He learns he’s the super special chosen one, and that the elves won’t like it, and then they almost literally fuck around for 200 pages. Another blowjob, my lord? These books are usually better balanced than this.

Hot and Fun!

Wow, this was a steamy, entertaining ride! Sarah Hawke’s storytelling is top tier, and the stakes and characters drew me in from the first paragraph. The ladies are sassy and real (Vinarys is a delight!), and the male lead is fun to follow. This book is well worth picking up!

A decent start

Hawke delivers as usual, a nice blend of interesting setting, characters, and some nice smut.

Not perfect, but a good start. Really ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger though, but ni think that's happened in other series by the author so if that's a deal breaker for you I imagine you already either made your peace or swore the author off before now.

The only real problem I had with this book is that it's too short. Just as the plot starts to get somewhere, the book ends.

The MC is a human warrior that can use magic, and is part of his country's military forces. He wins some tournaments and is to be granted land and a title by the queen, a dragon. The problem is, humans (as well as orcs and a few other races commonly referred to as "dustborn" don't have titles or land. He's also selected to be one of the men that would be a prospective consort the the queen's daughter, the rightful princess to the realm. And wouldn't you know it, he's got dragon blood and is the winner of the whole thing. The problem is, the elves won't let this slide easily.

The women in his harem is currently one, though a second has been all but promised, and the princess is obviously slated to join in at some point. The one he has is the priestess that helped detect his dragon blood, and she's a nymphomaniac that can keep him going all night long. Frankly, the sex scenes didn't do a ton for me, since they were quite brief.

As I said, just as it gets interesting with all the intrigue and unknown starting to show itself, the book ends. I am very interested in seeing where this goes.

Started slow & felt a bit off but got better fast

I picked this out on a whim knowing nothing about it. Read for a few chapters and almost set it down then it kept getting more intriguing. It was shorter than I expected too. I was happy to see there was a 2nd out already as the plot got expansive fast and I realized how little the 1st book would get to cover. Spicy was ok definitely more adventure so far than erotica but I cannot tell which way the series overall will lean going forward. Interesting world that felt like i barley got a glimps of even though the start felt like so much back story and world building.

Racist trash

Literally the entire book is racism against humans and how trash they are. After reading this the entire elf and dragon races in this book deserve to waste away and disappear. The worst part is the humans in one area are “freed” from slavery and conditioned to be happy about their “freedom” but still can’t even own their own homes or anything.

Reading this genuinely made me mad. Complete trash book.

This is a story that tries to feel "lived in" with lots of references to unique bits of culture and lore invented for the story, but beyond the world-building the story has nothing to make the plot itself engaging. Lots of good action and smut. There were some very tense scenes and one of them in particular (where the Mother Whatever confirms his, uh, dragonhood) really raised my hackles. I almost didn't finish the book, and I shouldn't have because UPDATE I just finished the second book and it is the most frustrating, unsatisfying, predictable, disappointing, and contrived plot I've ever read.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Sarah Hawk's books " The Dragon Sovereign " series and now reading the Dragon Centurion. The stories are excellent with more than a few surprises and sensuous characters with plenty of action and romance. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I was expecting this series to be harem genre (similar to the Dread Knight series) but I don't think it really is. I mean, if it's harem genre who is the person with the harem...is it the princess or the MMC? To me it seems like a mix of both but, ultimately, neither as it seems more like a NTR/cuck fetish series (some sort of sharing arrangement anyway).

This series could've been amazing but it doesn't work for me because I can't stand any type of NTR/cheating/cuckolding/sharing/swinging. I'm also not into subservient MMCs who seem to be looking for a mistress to tell them what to do. Lesbian erotica can be very hot but it doesn't mean I want to read about MMCs getting cucked by lesbians.
