This book is a page turner and contains some very powerful themes. Ash: Like a Tattoo is a story of family and the healing love that can come from a child but it also realistically depicts how a family and a community can torn apart by bullying. I was happy to have the scenes of comic relief to balance out some of the heart-wrenching moments that are contained in the book although I never felt there was an imbalance.

I absolutely loved the ending of this book. It's one of the most enchanting, surprising and inspiring endings I've ever read in a fiction book. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this novel. As the author states, it's hard to pin down a genre where it fits, other that to say it's a very good tale that would be enjoyed by most people.

Author/Artist Dan Waltz has written another incredible book. His compassion for nature, humans and animals shine through amazingly. I don’t want to say too much what this book is about, but what I can tell you is that it encompasses the unbelievable story of a sister, brother, mom and dad that go through; pain, sorrow, and confusion in their lives. Dan lets you see all of this as if you are right there with the family. He also brings out important issues that need to be taken seriously in our country for the well-being of our children. All-in-all I couldn’t put this book down…. It is a wonderful read for adults and children alike. Thank you Dan for sharing with us!

I’m finding it hard to label this book into one particular genre. It’s a mixture that I think everyone of all ages will enjoy. It has a little fantasy taste to it, mixed with a little paranormal feel, but most of all, it has a lot of family drama, with a touch of comedy thrown in here and there, to break up the seriousness of the issues at hand.

It’s a story of a boy who was bullied and took his own life at an early age, and how his younger sister grew up without him. It’s about family crisis and how they faced and handled some pretty big, yet common issues. All this is told in a most imaginative, and unforgettable tale, that’s been compared to, ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory;’ a huge compliment, which I’ll gladly accept.

When I ask people what they think, I’m told that it’s a story about bullying, which wasn’t my initial intent, but with that said, maybe it was, subconsciously, after what had happened to me when I was a kid. http://danwaltz.blogspot.com/2014/11/...

I hope you enjoy ASH, Like a Tattoo as much as I did writing it.

Ash: Like a Tattoo is a unique and intriguing story. It centers around a family who lost their special needs son when he committed suicide. But the book is about so much more than that. It's a refreshing mix of drama, the paranormal and humor, as well the effect bullying has on a person, his family and the community.

As an author of a paranormal novel about the afterlife, I especially enjoyed that aspect of the book. Things aren't always as they seem, and there are definitely a few surprises in Ash: Like a Tattoo! I loved how Ashton’s sister approached life with an open mind and heart and helped her family see things from a different perspective.

I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the paranormal, has been affected by bullying or just enjoys a good story about the ties that bind us. Well done!
