Magic has no weight. It has no volume or substance. The most powerful of magic can be housed in something as light as a feather... and it is.
One black and one white. The two magic feathers of Tobadzistsini and Nayenezgani, twin Navajo gods. The white feather holds the power to heal all wounds and black can vanquish all enemies. Together they are virtually unstoppable but for the Godhunter the real difficulty will be deciding whether to fight the Navajo gods or join them.
It all comes down to the color of Vervain's convictions. Although the feathers are black and white, her choices have all blurred to gray and choosing the wrong shade could mean the extermination of an entire race.

When she isn't trying to type fast enough to get down everything the voices in her head are saying while her kitties try to sabotage her with cuteness, she enjoys painting on canvases, walls, and anything else that will sit still long enough for the paint to dry. She prefers antiques to modern furniture, tea to coffee, night to day, and Tom Hardy to Tom Hiddleston. No; Tom Hiddleston to Tom Hardy. No, wait... Tom Hardy and Tom Hiddleston to Tom Cruise. For forward plot progression, this installment in the series made some good strides, unfortunately, there were also a few steps backwards in Light as a Feather. The kidnapping and mind-games on poor Vervain is getting tiresome--same story, slight twist. The most disappointing aspect though was the lack of follow through on the main theme of the book--the deplorable conditions of some Native American reservations. Yeah, no surprise the god squad wins the day, but there is no resolution or wrap up (maybe we'll be lucky to get a quick, neatly packaged paragraph in the next book?). After so much is written to raise awareness, I was let down when the author didn't even attempt to have a post-fight round-table to discuss ideas. I've noticed the quick winning fights and a lack of closure in other books, but this was just so blatant because of the overall motivation of the antagonists in the story.
Disappointing, Ms Sumida--at the price I'm willing to pay for such a long series, I was hoping for fresh ideas and proper thread conclusions. Of course I'll read on unless this becomes a trend (at which point I'll skip over the rest of the series and read the latest book or two to see what happened). Fingers crossed as I start book 15...
Getting tired of the whole abduction, mind stealing rape thing. Native American parts were confusing and demeaning to those people. Navaho are not Iroquois. Characters get up on soap box to spout injustice and corruption. None of the characters truly help or improve conditions for their indigenous people they just slink away after losing God powers. 😔

She has been kidnapped, abused, brainwashed so many times, I am surprised she hasn't fully caved under it all. I was afraid this time. Then she really made me laugh with this "next time you're inside me, I am going to kick my own ass just so I can kick yours".
Am loving the Native American in this series, actually love the Greek, Egyptian, Norse and Aztec mythology as well. Vervain is definitely one of a kind, she takes getting repeatedly tortured and comes out stronger.
Got gonna lie, I had to skim some parts simply because I’ve read it be said 3 or 4 times now, by different people in different ways. BUT it did not take away from the fact, the story is FANTASTIC.
I love The Godhunter series. Vervain is hilarious and I couldn't wait to read the next one every time. These books were awesome. Arach is my favorite. These were very well written.
Update June 2022: there are 35 books to date and I realized at the end that Vervain doesn't talk to *spoiler* as much in the later books after *big spoiler event in book 31 or 32*
First Nation shoutout! and Fairie *spoiler*
The main conflict in this story centers around a plan for Native American gods to unite and uplift their people to reclaim the U.S. as their home. Fantastic idea, bad execution given that Vervain is kidnapped *takes a shot* (Vervain drinking game: every book she gets kidnapped in means you drink or eat something bad for you, but tastes so good). We see that Vervain has to compromise in her relationships again and what a future with 6 men might entail should it arise. Still 30+ books in the series, I'm catching up slowly but surely.
In this one, Vervain is kidnapped again. But, this time it's not only torture she must endure, it's also being given memories of a woman long dead. Now, she must try to figure out away out of this fog before she's completely taken over by someone else.
This was a great addition this series, it really brings together the people who care about Vervain, and it also shows that even though she's powerful things can still go terribly wrong for her. She did her best though, and I truly admired her spirit in this one. And I was sad a lot as well because of what was done to her, but I enjoyed the ending a great deal.
I've read so many books in this series and it doesn't lose any of its awesomeness as it moves along. I love Vervain and her men. Her humor and love impress me every time. I have to admit that every time I finish a new book I instantly buy the next, this series is that good. I highly recommend it.
I hate this book. I hate Toby. No matter what anyone says, he does not get a redemption. These books are literal bullshit man. I’m really just rereading these for the few cute moments and this whole section with Toby Naye and kids is just pointless and gross.
Well at least Arach is working along with everyone poor dragon lol. What an amazing series!!! Such an awesome book and I can't wait for the next book!!
