“I have discovered that there is such a thing as a sad ending which is also a happy ending." The epic time travel series lands in 1980 to the sound of synthesizers, clouds of dry ice and the smell of cheap perfume. Rachel makes a final journey to the past to make sure her mother, Lorna Foster, and father, Martyn Hines, have their fateful first kiss at a sweaty Ultravox gig in 1980. But Esther Parker is also making a play for Martyn, and if their romance is kindled, Rachel will never be born. She’s also up against Danny and Kath, two enemies with growing superpowers, and Rachel’s own disturbing inner fire threatens to cut her off from her old life forever. Can she be the simple village girl she longs to be, or must she accept that she might be a goddess? It’s all set for an epic battle with destiny, both ends burning. "A great series and a fine final episode probably the best yet and by far the longest. Can't wait for series two, I am going to miss going to bed with this book at night!" “I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole Touchstone series and I have to say I've been eagerly awaiting this one, the last in the series. I wasn't disappointed in any way! Absolutely superb! If you haven't read this series yet - you simply must! Go and download Touchstone 1. The Sins of the Fathers - but beware - you will be hooked!!” “This series has had me hooked from start to finish. I'm sad it's ended but glad it's not the end. I'm now looking forward to the next season. It's a magnificent story...”

This is a great conclusion to this series. The settings at each point in time seem so real. The lead character is so trapped, how will she ever escape her new date?
Book 6 in the first "season" of Touchstone, and while I'm glad it finished the way it did, the sneaky peeks at Danny and Kath, have me definitely intrigued about season 2.
I also now fully understand why Andy calls them seasons, because I can definitely see them working as a TV show/movie series with the right budget. Especially these last couple of books, which focus a lot of Rachel and Danny's burgeoning supernatural powers.
Book 6 finds us in the 1980s, with a lot of reference to the music of that era. This part lost me a bit as while I was born in 1984, I don't remember much of the 80s, being more aware of the 90s myself. The references to Ultravox/Midge Ure, and the sounds of the 80s are well referenced for fans of the music or that era. And I did enjoy that once again, we were in a fresh new era, and nothing was repetitive, or too same-y as the previous books.
Rachel's issue is now to resolve an error that occurred as far back as the first book, and to take back her life, which was effectively stolen out from under her. She's in a girl in a world where she doesn't exist and it's all that damn Danny's fault. She has to get her parents to experience their first kiss, otherwise she will never be born. But she faces interference from Danny (obviously) and an Evil Kath, who I'm not sure about - there still appears to be two of her from two different timelines floating around.
The station at the end of time makes a reappearance as does Charlie *sobs* and Mrs Hudson and Mitch from a couple of the earlier books. I completely missed a couple of the references to Mitch, but I'm curious if they will feature in the second series, or if we will see them at an earlier point in time, and what exactly they do.
I was initially planning to stop at the end of book 6, as I was unsure if the second "season" would carry on with the same characters, but now I'm read ahead on the blurbs, it does sound like it'll concentrate mostly on Kath, and I would be curious to see more about Andy plans to deal with her. Unfortunately, I will now be having to buy the rest of the books on my Kindle app, as I cannot warrant the money or the shelf space on the remaining books, without my parents going all Rachel on me!
I would definitely recommend this series and hope to see what Andy can do outside of the Touchstone series at a later time.
Final book in first season. En joyable book set in Birmingham. Loved all the 1980 references. The soundtrack was good if not my taste of music. A lot of loose ends tied up here but plenty of scope for further episodes.
