I enjoyed the book. Short and straight to the point, the author gives a lot of practical advice and example of possible situations you can find yourself in. Pretty good start to train your pup, or like in our case - try to understand our grown dog.

Good behavioral guidance

Good book for general canine instincts. Doesn’t cover the basics of training in as much detail as I would have liked, but overall does a good job of explaining canine/human interaction and natural animal instincts and how to encourage behaviors you want without defying natural protective animal behaviors.

Wisdom utopia

This book is a must read for seasoned professionals and day 1dog trainers.
I used this book to help me figure out how to train my own service Dog. VA has a 2 year waiting list and I have a 5 month old Belgian Malinois service dog under construction.

This book looks at some basic training and behavioral issues and offers a blend of positive-based clicker training and aversives (such as squirt bottles). Definitely some useful info here, but as a positive-only trainer I find some of the advice to be counter-productive with more effective and humane options available.

Contained general dog knowledge

This book would be good for the first time dog owner. However, if you have grown up with dogs, you will find that this book is filled with general dog training tips.

Decent training advice for a potential new pet owner.

Good advice about things to know or consider before you get a pet but nothing eye opening. Would like more training how to examples. Was more of a this can what happen if you don't train properly.

New or beginners handbook for training your dog.

A straight forward book in layman's terms for basic dog training and to better understand dog behaviors. Clicker training emphasized.

Easy read, but not what I was hoping for.

This book was a good overview of dog habits and things to consider when your dog acts a certain way. However, it does not have specific training steps as I was expecting.

We just got a 4 month old rescue puppy, and since it has been many years since I had a dog, I've been wanting to read everything I can get my hands on. This was the first book I grabbed after seeing it available for free on Amazon.

If you've never had a dog before or have never heard of "click training," this book offers some very basic insight. Otherwise, it skims the surface more than I would have liked and doesn't cover many things that go into a "well-trained,obedient" dog. Still, for free I can't complain *too* much.
