The Homeschooling Bible was a blessing to me :)

Even though it’s written for those just starting out, I still found it so helpful after years of homeschooling. I felt both encouraged and gently challenged with fresh ideas and new approaches.

Let’s just say I have TONS of sticky notes all throughout the book for me to come back to when I need it!

This book is well organized and structured almost like a reference you can return to again and again. It’s more straightforward than many homeschooling books I’ve read, as it leans less on storytelling and more on practical information and guidance.

I loved how she emphasizes over and over again that homeschooling looks different for every family and it’s true.

I do wish there was a bit more of her personal story. I would have loved to hear more about her transition from being an educator/school principal into home education.

Overall, it helped break down some of the stigma around homeschooling and made it feel a lot more approachable if you’ve been curious about starting. ❤️

Ok so being in the homeschooling world for a few years at this point, there was not much in here I haven’t already seen or heard about.

However, I would have loved to have something like this in my hands when we first started exploring the homeschooling world. All the resources, websites, learning styles, and general advice you’ll be bombarded with in the group chats (which can be overwhelming at first) are in here with short descriptions and deeper explanations. The resources and suggested readings cover the most popular websites and curriculums. The books recommended are all the most popular ones, and the tips cover everything from daily rhythms, switching from public to home schooling, transcripts and so much more. I also enjoyed the perspective coming from a former school principal/now homeschooling mom.

Highly recommend for those who are new to/interested and asking questions about homeschooling.

I wish I had this book when I first started my homeschooling journey. It can feel so overwhelming to start something new, but Mandy takes you by the hand and goes through ALL the details. You may never feel 100% ready to homeschool, but I definitely think this book will help get you started. I love how beautiful it is and how she asks thoughtful reflection questions so that you start living the life you want with your kids today.

I received this early as part of the book launch. There are so many good tips in this book. We’ve been homeschooling for quite a while and it was still a great read. I love the questions at the end of each chapter, they were so helpful. There’s just so much advice in this book. Every homeschooling parent should read this!! I know I’ll be coming back to it time and time again.

Another example of an influencer who should have stuck to their Insta reels and blogs.

I've been going through this resource slowly over the past few weeks, and honestly, I know I’ll keep using it through the summer because this definitely isn’t a one and done read. I paired it with the planner, and together they’ve helped me walk a little more confidently into next year.

We’ve been homeschooling for years, but without much of a village, mentor, or real support along the way. So having a resource like this available has been incredibly valuable. A lot of it I already knew deep down, but so much of it was the reminder I needed at the right time. And some parts really helped me not only dream about ideas I want to implement in our homeschool, but actually gave practical ways to do them.

Between the insights, advice, resources, encouragement, and the way it reaffirmed my WHY while also helping with the HOW this was such a great resource for me.

The Homeschool Bible is an invaluable resource for anyone contemplating homeschooling or already homeschooling. Mandy Davis offers a unique perspective that sets her apart from other books. As a former principal turned homeschooling parent, she combines her understanding of the educational system with her firsthand experience of homeschooling from the outside. Davis excels in outlining the various homeschooling styles and types, providing practical suggestions for utilizing your space to meet your children’s needs. I particularly appreciated the chapter dedicated to addressing legal questions, as homeschooling laws vary significantly across states. It’s easy to express a desire to homeschool but overlook the complexities involved. This book will undoubtedly serve as a valuable reference for ideas and resources as I continue my homeschooling journey.

This book is good for people who already have children in school and are considering homeschooling. It walks you through the considerations, some legal things to keep in mind and where to find that information, as well as routines, teaching philosophies, socialization, community, etc...That being said, there is a lot of good information for those wanting to start homeschooling at kindergarten or first grade, but I believe that isn't quite the intended audience.

If at all possible, I would say get your own copy of this book. There are reflection questions that I would have loved to write my answers to, right in the book. But as mine was a library copy, it made it more difficult to do so.

This is a thoughtfully put together book for those considering homeschool and you would benefit from what she has to say.

I really wanted to like this book and always hesitate to give *any* book a negative review, but I just didn’t enjoy and can’t recommend this one.

It’s beautiful but repetitive. It’s contradictory (you need a dedicated homeschool room in chapter two but by chapter five, you don’t). The first chapter was so somber (do you really want to homeschool? It’s challenging and requires “a significant amount of time”) in tone that it was off-putting. I would have enjoyed more learning about the author (with experience as a principal) came to the decision to homeschool.

I would recommend Ginny Yurich’s and Jennifer Pepito’s books on homeschooling (to be fair, both of whom would disagree with this review since they endorse this book) for their inspirational and practical encouragement.

The Homeschool Bible was a well rounded introduction to options and paths for Homeschooling. I really appericated having different methods with their pros and cons laid out... Many education books seem to be selling you a particular method, while this book informs on options. Davis often suggests a blending of different methods to accommodate different learning styles and goals.

Home education can be daunting to approach- so this was an excellent introductory resource for the overwhelmed prospective Homeschool parent. I will return to this when I begin formal home education with my daughter!

The concept would be helpful to someone entirely new to homeschooling. However, the execution is poor because the book is not well-structured. It is quite repetitive and surface-level. The final straw for me to DNF was the author’s extended focus on learning styles which have been repeatedly unproven to have any impact on learning by the relevant research.

This was such an amazing book. As a teen homeschooler, it is hard to find books that make sense for the whole family. This book really opened my eyes to so many new homeschooling possibilities and I recommended it as well to many of my friends who want to begin their homeschool journey. It helped me understand my wife’s point of view and given me the insights to better support my homeschooling family. Well written, concise, big picture, insights in to the right details, perspective on what matters.

I was curious if this would have anything to strengthen the work I’m doing with all the kids over the summer, but it was a pretty generic overview of home education. Between the trial and error we’ve done the last few years and my background, I knew most all of the material here. I’ll have to find something more specific (or maybe we’re doing all right and need to just keep going haha).

Excellent resource for someone considering or new to homeschooling. We’re in year six of home education, so I didn’t learn anything useful for my own personal experience…. That said, Mandy covers pretty much all of the questions I’ve had along the way. She answered them thoughtfully, with an in-depth discussion and questions for self reflection, and she does so in a warm and accessible way.

Best for new homeschool families. I’d highly recommend it to them. There isn’t a huge amount of helpful information for experienced homeschool families though. It’s beautiful to look at and well-organized. A great starter tool.

This has been the most concretely helpful homeschooling book I’ve read so far. I will be returning to it as my child draws near to school age.
