This is the second book I’ve read by Adryan Hart, and once again, she didn’t just deliver—she demolished my expectations.
Smitty is a layered and compelling protagonist. A U.S. Marshal with unshakable resolve, he wrestles with conviction, loyalty, and guilt as he tries to protect both past ties and new alliances. His internal battles are just as gripping as the external ones, making him easy to root for and hard to forget.
The storyline sets the stage for what promises to be a high-octane series. Though it’s a novella, the pacing is tight and the tension never lets up. Hart skillfully balances heart-pounding action with emotional depth, never sacrificing one for the other. And that ending? Let’s just say it made me sit back and rethink everything—no spoilers, but it lands with impact.
Hart’s writing is sharp, immersive, and cinematic—perfect for readers who love their crime thrillers fast, gritty, and full of heart. This first book launches her new series with confidence, and if Smitty is any indication, readers are in for one hell of a ride.

This is my first read by Adryan. It was good. I like that it made me feel like I was watching a cop show on TV.
I l like that Smitty and Xolani found each other. I like how book one ended. I'm moving on to book two.
