In a town of magic and monsters, the smallest mystery can spark the biggest trouble.
Life in Witchlight Cove should finally be settling down. The Eternal Flame burns bright again, my PI business is growing, and for once the magical town I was born to protect isn’t in crisis.
Of course, things aren’t all roses and puppies. My best friend Maddie is struggling with the powerful magic at Witchlight’s heart, and I’m starting to worry the Flame might be affecting her in ways none of us can control.
Then a witch’s familiar vanishes without a trace.
When the trail ends at the very edge of Witchlight’s protective wards, it becomes clear this is no ordinary disappearance. Someone took the cat. And in a town full of witches, shifters, fae and vampires, that raises a very dangerous question.
Why would anyone steal a familiar?
As I investigate, old grudges resurface and magical politics turn ugly. What started as a missing pet begins to look like something far more dangerous.
If I don’t uncover the truth quickly, it won’t just be one life at risk … Witchlight Cove itself could be in danger.
With my fiercely loyal retriever by my side and magic now crackling at my fingertips, I’m about to learn just how far someone will go to keep their secrets hidden.
I read this entire series (so far) in less than a week it was that good. I am just hoping that #5 will be completed soon. I did see that its projected release was early next year but I’m hoping it gets moved forward. (A girl can dream) if you haven’t started the series yet I recommend you do your gonna be as hooked as I am. Thank you ladies for building such a gripping read.
This book and series is like a train pulling out of a station, slow and steady, gaining momentum, until it's speeding along, fast but smooth. That's how perfect the pacing is, that's how well these incredible authors have me riveted from the beginning of this series and I am enjoying the ride, immensely!
With the Flame firmly back where it belongs, with her magic finally unlocked, Bea can breathe a little easier. Except....yes, there's an 'except' in the form of her guilt at having neglected her bff Maddie and there's a mystery to solve, bringing her PI juices to full alert. When 2 witches ask Bea to find a missing familiar, well, she discovers a whole host of the 'unbelievable'. From the Flame, to Maddie issue, to the Coven, to the missing familiars. The mystery surrounding the why, the who, was so expertly concealed and when the whodunnit is exposed, my jaw dropped! It's a brilliant skill these authors possess, directing me on one path, veering off onto another, seamlessly, authentically, magically.
Gosh are these characters cool! I love them all, Ernie, Yanni, Alice, Jonah but especially Ezra, Nour, Maddie and the sweetest doggy on the planet, Eva. How does one NOT love Fraser? He's utterly dedicated to Bea, he's suave and charming, he's patient and gentle and respectful and considerate and listens! Plus he's gorgeous... and completely head over heels in love with Bea, the mate thing an added bonus. He doesn't even blink in his support for Bea, doing whatever he can to ease her mind. Like with Maddie, my heavens, when he suggested a solution to help Maddie, my heart squealed with warmth. Mr Deadly Nice Guy kind of would be an apt description of Fraser. His love for Bea supercedes the bond his skin started, his love for Bea is pure, beautiful and so very hot. Bea herself has grown, she accepts, she learns, she perseveres. I love the stronger, more resilient Bea that she's developed into, how her magic has evolved. As Ernie so eloquently said, 'Your magic has come along in leaps and bounds over the last couple of months. Not just because of the return of the Flame, but also because of your increase in confidence.’ But it's the emotions she wears on her sleeve that make me love Bea. She will, and does, everything she can to right what she inadvertently started when she fled Witchlight.
The whole Ernie and Yanni 'thang' is hilarious, and sweet, and beautiful. As is the Maddie and Lestat 'thang'. Who would have thought that Lestat, a vampire assassin and Maddie would get it on, but they do. Lestat is so obviously besotted with Maddie, it makes me all gooey inside. However.... Maddie is slowly unravelling and Bea is desperate to help her. That help takes the most unexpected turn, where I was rejoicing, until the authors hit me again. Oy was I distraught when THAT happened! It came out of the blue and socked me good! There's the reminder never to be complacent or think I can predict where this story is going, each time, I have the rug pulled out from under me.... I teared up so much, I had to blink furiously to clear my vision, and then I was delivered another whammy, like frek, NOOOOOOO!!!
Anxiety, addiction, allaying real fear, acceptance, self confidence, friendship and love are the backbone to this series. These real world issues are realistically and sensitively handled by the authors. This book was as much Maddie's story as it was Bea's, and shoot, the last dozen or so chapters were heightened , unputdownable, they conveyed so much angst, in true form, which made me barley blink in case I missed something. The White Wine Coven, which started as a joke, suddenly became a life saver, literally! A sisterhood emerged between Bea, Maddie and Nour, one of complete trust, affection and respect, one that changed them all forever. And the cost, oh hell, the cost of this amazing, incredible event, almost ended me! The authors upped the tension, upped the ante with each chapter, culminating in an event that was as emotional as it was joyous.
This book, more than the rest before, tugged on every part of me, took me through so many highs, nearly annihilated me with the lows, but at the same time, left me with a sense of right. It so reminded me of why I loved the TV series Charmed so much, because, not only did this book and series charm me... well, the authors did...the power of 3 burned a trail of delight through me. I'm loving this series more with each book, I'm loving the characters more with each book and I am in major anticipation mode for the final countdown to Granny dearest... especially with that mind-blowing ending that shattered me, I can't wait for more!
Every time I think these two authors can't improve their work, they come along and prove me wrong - and I couldn't be more delighted about it!
The Eternal Flame has been restored, Beatrix's mate bond has solidified with Fraser, and her PI work is ticking along nicely. But Maddie is struggling to manage her addiction to the Eternal Flame, and her attempts at masking it are failing. Alongside trying to help her friend, Beatrix scores a case - two familiars have been forcibly taken, with very little in the way of leads. The sect leaders are out of town, so protecting the Flame and the town barrier couldn't be more important. Beatrix has a lot on her plate - can she solve everything?
This novel has it all. It has the highest highs, the lowest lows, love, hate, addiction, despair, mystery, intrigue, laugh out loud humour and an absolute doozy of a final act. Honestly to fit all of it into these pages and not have it feel like too much is a testament to the fantastic understanding of each other's process that these authors have. They work in absolute harmony, crafting a story that keeps you turning pages long into the night, despite knowing you have an early morning - it is nigh on impossible to step away from the story. Those claws sink in deep!
The pacing of this novel - in fact this whole series - has been absolutely exquisite. There is always a PI case to be solved, which inevitably feeds into the Eternal Flame/Town Barrier plot thread, building up to what is sure to be the emergence of what has until now been a looming spectre of the ultimate villain, Granny Dahlia. The absence of the sect leaders leaves the burden of the town's safety on Beatrix and Yanni, leaving ample time for nefarious activity. Whilst the PI case bubbles away, there is the issue of Maddie's addiction to the Eternal Flame, and the need to help her, which leads to the creation of a bond that alters friendships and responsibilities - and is likely to cause multiple issues in the next book too. The third act shocker (no spoilers but it is devastating!) is the segue into Beatrix solving the case of the missing familiars - and discovering something even more horrifying, leading to an ending that has you desperate for just one more page. It's never just one more page, I know. But you want to scream for it all the same!
The use of Eva was, as always, executed superbly. The key hiding game was an excellent plot device that meant you never could have guessed that those keys had been taken by someone with ill intent. She gives just the right level of sass and intelligence that you're still not convinced that she isn't more than just a faithful pet. I'm going to keep hoping she is more. I feel it in my bones!
My main query with this book, comes from a Maddie perspective. She loses something (no spoilers) and I am unsure as to why. I know there will be a reason, and I'm itching to find out! I have theories, but nothing nailed on, and I'm beyond curious. I hope we find out more in the next book!
Secrets of the Hidden Heritage is another A* read from Heather G Harris and Ella Stone, where you need to be prepared to battle a gauntlet of emotions, be it cheering the bonds of love and friendship, laughing your head off at Yanni and Ernie's handcuffs sitch, or letting the tears fall in moments of devastation. The finale is as shocking as it is sudden - and you will be desperate for more. I can't wait for Beatrix's next outing. Like, climbing the walls can't wait. Excellent stuff.
Heather G. Harris and Ella Stone have once again delivered a dazzling, edge-of-your-seat adventure that seamlessly blends magical intrigue and emotional depth, giving us more development for these unforgettable characters and their complex relationships. In this latest instalment, Beatrix has fully embraced the power of the Eternal Flame, but life in Witchlight Cove is anything but calm. As Bea hones her abilities to protect her town and solve the mystery of missing familiars, she’s forced to confront her own growing relationships—romantic, familial, and friendships that run deep. The connection with her ever-loyal, key-hiding dog Eva remains as strong as ever, and her bond with Fraser blossoms, though long-distance leader meetings threaten to pull them apart. Meanwhile, Maddie struggles with her own lack of magic and navigates the complex emotions surrounding her love for Lestat. The plot pulls you in from the start, with a missing familiar case that quickly escalates into something much more significant. There are high stakes, with the barrier between realms faltering and secrets beginning to unravel. As Bea digs deeper, she discovers that the threats to her world are even more complex than she could have imagined. The tension never lets up, and the emotional rollercoaster keeps you hooked, balancing laughs, heartbreak, and the kind of family drama that feels all too real. The character development continues to shine in this series. Bea, Maddie, Nour, and the rest of the cast are more than just magical beings; they feel like real people, flawed and beautiful in their own ways. The complexity of their relationships—whether it’s Bea’s romance with Fraser or the deepening loyalty between Bea and her granddad Ernie—brings the heart of the story to life. You just have to love the name of the White Wine Coven! It tells you alot about the characters.
If you’re a fan of urban fantasy, magical communities, kickass female leads, and stories filled with twists and emotional depth, this series is an absolute must-read. With each book, the world of Witchlight Cove feels more real, the stakes higher, and the characters more compelling. I’m already on the edge of my seat for the next chapter.
Beatrix Stonehaven is one self-sufficient, totally put-together, fine-flying solo private investigator... and she’s getting closer and closer to actually believing that!
Bea is a magical empath with a knack for solving mysteries. Having left the magical city of Witchlight Cove after the death of her parents, she thought she was all done with magic and just making it day after day in the busy world of mundane London. It’s been 10 years now, but she’s back home and back in her parents’ cottage with the Eternal Flame. After finding her best friend having broken into her apartment, nearly getting killed solving a water shifter's murder, and finding out that she might not be the last family member she’s got, life in Witchlight Cove has been quite the whirlwind. Her relationship with Fraser continues to deepen and grow; her found family keeps growing with amazing and loyal friends, and wouldn’t you know it? Familiars are starting to randomly go missing, so she’s got herself another case!
With her paw-tner Eva by her side, she’s going to do what needs to be done; there are mysteries to solve… With the eternal flame back and helping her grow her varied power set, Granddad being awesome, and more to these familiar-nappings than meets the eye, it’s going to be a hot time in the old cove tonight!
“Secrets of the Hidden Heritage” is the fourth novel continuing Heather G. Harris and her new partner in rhyme, Ella Stone’s, new series, “The Witchlight Magical Mysteries." Beatrix is an immediately engaging and endearing character; the writing is spot-on; the world-building is downright magical; and the story just flies off the pages so that the reader won’t be able to put it down. There’s mystery that keeps you guessing and desperate trauma that yanks at the heartstrings and slow-burn romance that’s everything you could hope for. I really enjoyed it, highly recommend it, and look forward to the rest of the series being published! Also, if the heard word is more your flavor, get your mitts on the audiobook narrated by Alyse Gibbs, which is now out!
I received a free copy of this ebook/audiobook and am voluntarily leaving a review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Let's start off with a kidnapping, why not? We quickly learn poor kitty was kind of an asshole and needs to be found soon...or else!
Bea takes the case and Fraser has to deal with sect politics. Mads is still going through shit, and Nour and Ezra are moving forward.
This was a fun read, it had a good blend of character and plot development. I love how we're learning more about the town and the history of different characters.
I liked the mystery of the familiars, it was woven well throughout the everyday things and the Big Stuff. I'm interested to see how it's going to escalate.

Maddie
✔️ Easy to read ✔️ Entertaining ✔️ Great world building ✔️ Original ✔️ Page-turner ✔️ Wonderful characters
With the Flame back, Beatrix thinks things will go back to normal in Witchlight Cove. But Maddie is still addicted to the Flame and now familiars are going missing as well. With all the sect leaders, including Fraser, going out of town to a meeting Beatrix is on her own to help Maddie and find the familiars. While this sounds like a short summary, there really is a lot packed into it! Bea has finally accepted her bond with Fraser, but that means she has been putting Maddie on the back burner. With Fraser out of town, she realizes what a poor friend she has been, esp after she catches Maddie acting strange around the Flame. We get to read more about Maddie in this book and you can definitely tell she is going through some tough times. She has a roller coaster of emotions due to the addiction and is definitely hiding things from Bea. We get a peek into her new relationship with the former vampire assassin Lestat as well, and I have to say I was definitely as surprised as Bea with that situation. This book begins a little slower than previous books, but with the return of the flame we are getting deeper into another secondary story line. This book starts building up that story line as well helping Maddie and setting up how the Flame will be guarded going forward. There is still the investigation aspect and closer to the end we definitely get the suspense and emotional turmoil. There was yet another big surprise that will leave you screaming at the author. Once the story gets going, it is hard to put down, and you will find yourself having read the book before you even realize it. As usual my only complaint is I have to wait for the next book!
I really enjoyed this latest installment in this series, but I did feel it started off a little slower than the previous books. However, it did pick up and I soon found that I couldn't put it down.
Now that the Eternal Flame has been restored to its rightful place, you would expect things to become a bit easier for Bea, but the flame's presence causes some more problems with Maddie. Her addiction is fierce and even though she is trying hard to keep away from the flame and from using it, her withdrawals have severe consequences for her. At the same time, Bea is becoming much stronger in her magic and more confident in using magic she always deemed as dark, with the help of the generations of Guardians within the Flame.
Her latest case was the case of the missing familiar. There didn't seem to be many clues as to what had happened or to who was involved and the case seemed to simply go nowhere, until a second familiar is kidnapped, or in this case bird-napped! With potential leads all over the town, Bea has to track down who is responsible. The why was more surprising than the who this time round and I truly hope that Bea manages to get back what she has lost in the midst of solving this case.
A great, fun, quick read. I can't wait for the next book in this series to see what Bea does next. I hope Bea and Ernie team up to deal with this new situation!
Thank you to Heather and Ella for my ARC copy of this book.
Spectacular! Stunning! Superb! In wondrous Witchlight Cove, the Eternal Flame has reclaimed its fiery brilliance, and Bea's Private Investigation business is booming. She is blissfully in love, and her bond with her mate, Fraser, is blossoming! Her witch powers are still evolving with the aid of Ernie, her dad's dad; her Grandad? Unfortunately, her BFF Maddie is still struggling. She seems anxious and dispirited despite her new love affair with the Vampire Lestat. Her eerie fascination with the Flame is distressing and disturbing all of her friends. When a witch's feline familiar, Morrigan, disappears, Bea is enlisted to investigate. Eva traces the scent to its disappearance at the edge of Witchlight’s protective barriers. Someone took the cat! Why would anyone steal a familiar? Bea has a list of witches, shifters, fae, and vampires that need to be scrutinized and interrogated. Can she and her delightful, discerning dog Eva find the cat companion before its bond is broken? Will they uncover the reasons for Maddie's erratic behavior? Could the Oyster Bay Wine Circle actually become a Coven? Action, charm, and slow-burn romance blend into a beautiful Book 4 in the charming and cracking collaboration between Authors Ella Stone and Heather G. Harris in the Witchlight Magical Mysteries Series! 5 Stupendous Stars {arc read }
Every book in this series has been layered with emotion and this one stays true to that style of storytelling. These authors are incredibly adept at crafting heightened tension into compelling storylines and delivering amazing books that deserve all the stars. They are among my favourites!
This is a wonderful, complex and evolving community of magicals. There's always humour, the good and bad of family and the support of friends to balance out the twists of clever mysteries that keep our FMC, Bea, on her toes. I love that mix! I fly through these books because they are fun while digging down into relationships and showing that what is on the surface is often not the truth of a situation.
I really enjoyed the changes to the White Wine Coven. Bea, Maddie and Nour are fantastic characters and watching them as individuals and a group is delightfully satisfying. I am so looking forward to seeing how they challenge the status quo while bringing their unique blended perspective to the local groups.
Ms Harris and Ms Stone are amazingly talented writers. Every sentence builds empathy and keeps the pace moving perfectly. Dialogue is snappy and sentiments are real. I can never pick the villain or guess at their motivations.
In this fourth full outing for Bea, you'd think that life would be free and easy. After all, the eternal flame has been restored and all should be well in Witchlight Cove. Bea's presented with what doesn't seem to be that significant of a private eye case: a missing cat. Of course, the missing cat is a witch's familiar, and Bea soon learns that witches and familiars are closely connected. If they are parted for too long, the consequences can be dire. Then, when other familiars disappear, the situation escalates. Can Bea expand her relationship with the flame to find the familiars and the culprit behind the crimes? Can she continue to protect the flame and become a full-fledged guardian of it?
But it's not just about Bea. If you've been following the series, you know that Fraser, Maddie, Ezra, Yanni and Ernie are important, and Nour continues to become more significant. Bea will rely on their assistance. It's not just a one-woman show; it certainly takes a village, and their own personal stories don't take a backseat.
On a final note, without giving away any spoilers., Harris and Stone certainly know how to create tension and make you yearn for the next installment.
Although The Eternal Flame has returned to Witchlight Cove, life isn’t just going to quietly settle down for Beatrix. She has to learn how to use her magic, protect the town, help her friend Maddie and develop her relationship with Fraser. If that doesn’t seem enough to deal with, she has no idea what else might be headed her way, as she starts an investigation into a missing familiar.
This book explains more about the Flame and sees progress in Bea’s powers, as well as her relationships - romantic, friendships and her growing bond with her grandad, Ernie. With best dog ever, the faithful (key hiding) Eva by her side, Bea investigates a crime that may have serious repercussions for everyone. There are laughs, surprises and happiness, but they are offset with shocks and sadness too, and as for the cliffhanger ending…you will be left desperate to know what happens next.
This series continues to give excellent storytelling, well rounded characters and unpredictable plot lines. Next please!
Beatrix is center stage balancing all life has to offer in Witchlight Cove. She’s learning to use the Eternal Flame, connecting with her ancestors, growing the relationship with her mate, trying to help her best friend overcome the flame addiction and general life as a PI. Familiars are disappearing, and the barrier seems off but will Bea be able save Maddie in time or will the addiction cause her light to extinguish? Can she solve the case before someone dies?
A page turning addition that had me speechless! Love the Ernie and Yanni antics and as always Eva the pet sidekick whose personality is perfect. The ending left me speechless and attempting to turn the page for more, even though it said “the end.” I’m absolutely loving the character development and unpredictability of the plot! Just when you think it’s safe to take a breath something else is devastating to deal with! Here’s hoping the White Wine Coven can conquer the evil sorceress! Book 4 of the series doesn’t disappoint and as always I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
CW: death of a secondary character; issues with addiction; mental manipulation; bit of a cliff-hanger
Bea would like to think of herself as an independent sort. However, when her mate Fraser leaves for three days everything is in an uproar: two witches have had their familiars stolen; Maddie is suffering but won't talk about it; the Eternal Flame has said she needs to work on her telempathy; and something is going wrong with the town's ward. Can Beatrix (and Eva of course) put out the town's fires (pun intended) before they become an inferno?
~~ Bea is a lot of fun! I love seeing her adapt to her new powers and get used to being part of the town again. I appreciated that this book illustrated how she is badass even without Fraser's assistance. However, there is something about this book that felt a bit off to me-- maybe it just felt a bit too similar to previous books in the series? It was still a fun read but I don't feel the level of anxious anticipation I usually feel after reading one of Heather's books.
A mesmerising addition that had me binge reading, holding my breath, chuckling (Grandpa and Yanni shenanigans) and yet mind churning galore. Packed to the brim is an understatement. Starting "mildly" with familiars of the witches disappearing, the build up progression is fast. Maddie is in a bad way while Beatrix is training with the Eternal Flame and her powers are growing. Grandad has a solution for Maddie, but that required big choices. Wow from a new blood coven, glitches in the barrier, a gruesome murder that had me wiping tears, an engagement, a stolen soul (nasty one there) and then that darn letter at the end that spiked my stress levels way too much and had me swearing like a trooper!! Heather and Ella, you sure as hell upped your curve ball hitters. Be prepared for the unexpected, as they'll hit hard. I received an advanced review copy from the authors and I leave this review voluntary.
Overall things are going well for Bea at the beginning of this story: the flame is back, she and Fraser are in a good place, her relationship with her grandfather is going well, and she’s taking new PI cases. However, once her case of the missing familiar goes cold, she realizes that Maddie may not be doing as well as Bea thought and Bea’s determined to help her friend.
I really enjoyed this book! It was good to learn more about Maddie and I was surprised by her relationship with Lestat and his feelings for her. I think I have hope for a do over for those two, so we’ll have to see what happens in the next book. I’m really enjoying this series, I like the mystery, the overall arch, and the relationships; my only complaint is that I keep reading the books too quickly and then I’m stuck waiting for the next book in the series. I cannot wait to see what happens next!
4.5 stars! Bea is settling into Witchlight Cove and into her magical life there. But one thing is off, her best friend Maddie is showing serious issues of distress. Bea and Nour are serious about forming the white wine Coven with Maddie, but Maddie is worried she is too broken. Besides this Bea has caught a PI case for witches familiars going missing.
This was a necessary book in the series for Bea, Nour and Maddie. It was great to see the ladies come together and stand up as one. The relationship with Fraser even moved forward, when before she was too terrified of it. I know we are marching towards the ending, but I certainly hope Bea makes the correct choice with what we saw at the end.
‘Fraser, I teach self-defence. I am a weapon. I’m not the same girl Granny Dearest kidnapped a decade ago. I can fight, and I have my magic restored. I’m not weak anymore.’
Amazing. 🤩 I really love these books. I am a fantasy lover. Tv or books. Buffy , angel, charmed , and go on. I nearly read all books of Heather. Coz she really knows how to grab you’re attention and keep it all around and This book tugged on every part of me, took me through so many highs and lows, nearly annihilated me with the lows, but at the same time, left me with a sense of right. It so reminded me of why I loved the TV series Charmed so much, because, not only did this book and series charm me... well, the authors did...the power of 3 burned a trail of delight through me. I'm loving this series more with each book, I'm loving the characters more with each book and I am in major anticipation mode for the final countdown to Granny dearest... especially with that mind-blowing ending that shattered me, I can't wait for more.,
What a great book. The Flame is back where it belongs, Bea’s power is growing and she’s learning, Fraser is perfect but Maddie is having problems. While Maddie is trying to get over her addiction to the flame, Bea takes a PI case of a missing familiar. Then a second one goes missing. Trying to figure out what happened and questioning the people who had problems with the missing cat keeps Bea busy. She’s also missing Fraser who had gone away for a leader conference. The characters are all interesting, the mystery is good, there are surprises, romance, humour and more. Eva is a brilliant golden, if mine had even a quarter of the smarts that dog has, I would be very impressed. As I’m reading, I’m looking at mine thinking why can’t you do that? I definitely recommend this book and series. I loved it.
This one starts a little slow and there is a LOT of back and forth between Bea and Fraser as to who loves whom the most. It was a bit much for me. Fraser has to leave town so the majority of the story is about Bea, Maddie, and Nour as they focus on personal battles and how to build new lives around friendships as well as relationships. Bea has 2 missing familiar cases, Maddie continues to deal with Flame addiction, and Nour has multiple anxieties. There just doesn't seem to be any urgency to address things that seem to be glaringly major - like the barrier "glitching" maybe? Bea sees it happen and just sort of shrugs it off. There are a few WTH moments that seem to be brushed off or ignored. When Bea's case is solved a much larger issue is revealed that seems to be a huge hook for the next book.
Life is busy for Bea, dealing with a mate bond, working with the eternal flame, and working her pi cases. There is a summit meeting for the leaders of all the sects so Frasier has to go out of town, thankfully Bea has a case to distract her, a familiar has gone missing and the witch she belongs to is frantic to find her. Meanwhile Maddie's is acting strange and it seems like the flame addiction is flaring up so she moves into Frazier's empty home. when a second familiar goes missing Bea is worried her evil grandmother is behind it. The more she investigates she finds more clues to lead her in that direction. Bea must investigate quickly before her evil grandmother can start hurting people again. I really enjoy this series!
I love a good mystery and this series never disappoints! Fast paced, laugh out loud funny, with all the urban fantasy thrown in the mix! It makes for a book you can't put down.
Beatrix Stonehaven thought everything would calm down with Eternal Flame back where it belongs. Little did she know, the real challenges just began. Training with her newly unbound powers, taking on new PI cases, and trying to help her best friend recover from addiction, has left her with a full plate. Bea is trying to do it all, but with a homicidal grandmother lurking beyond the barrier, she has to play catch up quick. Bea's found family and the best doggie side kick ever in Eva, work together to solve the mystery, save her friend and protect the town.
Each time I think things are wrapping up, Author Harris throws another curveball. One of the few authors where I don't mind last page 'new bits' from, she handles them with grace and dexterity and makes me want the next book Right Now. But the story in the book wraps up, this is just the next, logical part. Maybe that's why I find the 'but wait, there's more' so worthwhile.
This book is no exception. We're back, dear reader, to Witchlight Cove and more is going on. Familiars are missing - and who dunnit might be quite the surprise. Along the way, there's more. Character development. Smoochies. Tension. Family drama and more make this a great addition to a really fun series. And a doggo as well. Can't forget that!
Like all of Heather G. Harris’ books, this one hooks you from the start!
The Eternal Flame has returned to Witchlight Cove and life is as it should be… for a little bit at least! Witches familiars are going missing and something smells suspiciously like black magic…
I am loving this series - the character development is so good, and each book holds its own mystery as well as the ongoing question of Bea’s grandmother and what she’s planning next.
The only reason I haven’t given a 5⭐️ is mainly because although I was loving the storyline - especially the White Wine Coven! - I feel like the part about the familiars could have been more. Things really pick up towards the end and loved the cliffhanger!
✨thanks so much to Heather for my arc in exchange for an honest review✨
I'm not sure I enjoyed this one as much as the others in the series. Aside from the cliffhanger ending, I really felt like Beatrix kept leaving things half done. Especially when she was talking to Claude the second or third time, realized he was keeping something from her but then ran off without finding out what it was, because Fraser was due back in an hour. Aside from the fact the familiars themselves were on a time limit, and as far as she knew, she might already be too late. Fraser was gone for 4 days, and they were figuring less than a week for one of them.
It definitely felt like there were some contrived plot points to slow down the story.
This one does not disappoint dives even deeper into Witchlight Cove, and I loved getting to see Beatrix really step into her power with the Eternal Flame while everything around her keeps getting more intense.
The mystery is still front and center, but the stakes feel so much higher this time. Everything is more connected, and the deeper Beatrix gets, the more complicated and dangerous it all becomes.
You’ve got the small magical town vibes, a murder to solve, missing familiars, Maddy dealing with her flame addiction and a relationship that’s finally real but still being tested in the middle of all the chaos.
Fast paced, a little chaotic, and impossible to put down.
The latest in the annals of Cove and the Witchlight is here and we pick up with love all around it seems. But not all is sunny and darkness in Maddie is worrying everyone. Beatrix is trying her best to be everything to everyone and with the help of her newly found grandfather she finds a way to help her best friend. Just like that a new coven is on the scene but before any celebrations can occur a horrible murder shake the town and the team to the core and bring Bea face to face with her worst nightmare. This is a great series and each book we delve deeper into the past of the town and this book is the most shocking of all.
So I assumed in my review for book 3 that it was the end of the series. I don't remember why. But this one picked up a little while after the last book.
It has its own little crime of the week style situation with a BIG plot twist that I'm still not ok with... I love the concept of the flame that the MFC learns about as she bonds with it. The twist toward the 3 quarter mark was cool, should be interesting to see how that plays out in the next book.
As usual there's a hook at the end that makes you anticipate what comes in book 5! I can't wait to see what happens! I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to read this early! Until next time!
Book 4 of the Witchlight Magical Mysteries is definitely building to an exciting conclusion.
The book starts with one mystery and there is a shocking and painful murder late in the book. The story has a good pace and ends with a dramatic cliff hanger.
Beatrix gains new connections as a Guardian with a new coven, this adds to the foundation of her mate bond with Frasier, and also the one her grandfather created in the previous book. I suspect these bonds will give her much needed support when her Grandmother comes calling.
If you have not started this series yet - read the whole set in order.
While this book was a slower start than the others in Bea’s series, I found I couldn’t put it down once the action started. Bea has truly found a place she belongs, with the Flame and her friends. But familiars are missing and she is slow to figure out what’s happening. There were many times when I wanted to tell her to stop putting things off. “This is weird. It can wait until tomorrow…” “He’s not telling the truth. Oh well. I’ll ask him again in a week.” You call yourself a PI?!? But I love the friendship and development with Maddie and Nour, which really increases in this book. And the end... wow. How dare the book end like this
