THE DAVIS LANDING OBSERVER THE GOSSIP GURU is back with more news. Seems intrepid reporter Felicity Simmons, at rival newspaper The Davis Landing Dispatch, is being threatened by someone who is not happy with her articles. Your faithful source hears that police officer Chris Hamilton, the only family member not working for Hamilton Media, is protecting her. Independent Ms. Simmons will bristle at being guarded, but she doesn't know how stubborn Chris can be - or how determined he is to be by her side until her stalker is caught .
Kathryn Springer grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, where her parents published a weekly newspaper. As a child, she spent many hours sitting at her mother’s typewriter, plunking out stories, and credits her parents for instilling in her a love of books – which eventually turned into a desire to tell stories of her own.
After a number of busy years, when she married her college sweetheart and became a stay-at-home mom, Kathryn rediscovered her love for writing. An unexpected snow day from school became the inspiration for a short story, which she submitted to Brio magazine. She went on to publish over a dozen more short stories for Brio, but it wasn’t until her youngest child started school that she decided to pursue her dream to write a book. In August 2004, her Love Inspired® debut novel, Tested by Fire, was published.
Fast forward to today and Kathryn has written over thirty novels. She lives on a lake in northern Wisconsin where she enjoys long walks in the woods and the change of seasons (although sometimes she wishes the "change" between winter and spring didn't last quite so long!) When she isn’t at the computer, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends, paging through cooking magazines or sitting in the sun. A really, really good day includes all three! If you want to know more, follow her blog Table Grace. . .thoughts and musings on living a life with nothing artificial added.
A nice, little relationship book with engaging characters. More infused with religion than I'm used to, which makes it somewhat didactic, but perfectly suitable for Hallmark Channel.
I really enjoyed this second installation in the Davis Landing saga. I liked 'meeting' Chris in his twin Heather's story, and loved that he was going to be 'next up'. I thought it was interesting that Chris felt like he was a bit of a 'black sheep' in the Hamilton family because he chose a different career path than his siblings had. He was a good example to me of the blessings (and sacrifices!) required of those who choose to answer God's call on their lives. I also loved how he was willing to help Felicity see that sometimes, being brave and letting faith rule over fear means that God sends us people to help us overcome. I also really enjoyed Felicity. She had spunk, and unfortunately it got her in trouble a few times. But, she was always wanting to trust God's power in her life, even if she didn't always know how that should look. I really enjoyed that the romance in this book was not the primary focus, but was built from a friendship. Those are the relationships that last.
My grandfather liked to read contemporary Christian romances and when he passed away my grandmother gave me a box filled with these little romance novels. This isn't my usual genre, but I did enjoy the light-hearted tone to this novel.
I was a little disappointed in the second book of this series. I really liked Jeremy as a character but I didn't find the storyline to be that realistic. It seemed a little forced that a cop would become a bodyguard for someone that was simply getting some hate mail. I had to remind myself that the book was published a little before social media became a huge trend because if the book were to be relatable to today's crowd we'd all need body guards due to the regular hate we get from the trolls online. However, the story was still very cute and light-hearted just not as mysterious and "dangerous" as it could have been.
Rushed. The spiritual lessons were deep and meaningful as two believers learned how to trust God through His provision of others. However, both the plot and romance were lacking in timing and details to develop a moving mystery or chemistry. A shared love of using chocolate caramels as a coping mechanism does not a couple make, though it was a charming reoccuring conversation point. Cute but not life changing or deeply loveable. Also slight pet peeve with story inconsistencies regarding the family chairs.

A well written romance/mystery featuring Chris Hamilton who chose to become a police officer instead working with his family at Hamilton media. Felicity Simmons has joined the ranks of Hamilton Media and as low person on the totem pole, gets assigned all the stuff no one else wants. A good entry in the in the Davis Landing series.
ebook from the library. I haven't read Kathryn's books before, but this book is a series that other authors I read wrote of the Hamilton Clan. This is Chris and Felicity's story. Reporter and Law enforcement. quick read.
Since my mom is the author, of course I'm going to really like anything she does!
