Becoming a whore wasn't how I wanted to live the rest of my life. Never in my life did I think this would happen to me. I never imagined that this would be my fate, serving my family's greatest enemy. But there's no way out. Even escaping has its consequences. Either I come to accept my new life, or be the reason why my loved ones die.
WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, explicit sexual themes, dubious content, violence and strong language.
My name is Jessica, and I am a twenty four year old self published author.
At the moment, I am working on my twelfth novel, which I hope to finish and publish by the end of the year. I am very passionate about literature, creative writing and reading books. In my spare time, I love to be outdoors, going for walks, visiting new places, reading, writing and playing with my two gorgeous cats, Dolly and Pippin. I also enjoy reviewing Korean dramas on my YouTube channel.
I never thought I was going to be a writer. It didn't even cross my mind that writing books was something I was ever going to do. When I was sixteen years old, I was studying Performing Arts in college, preparing for a future in acting. It took me two years to realize that acting wasn't something I wanted to do. At the beginning of the course, my heart was set on becoming an actor, but by the third year, I completely lost interest in it. Acting didn't bring a smile to my face anymore. I think at that point, I started asking myself what it is that I enjoyed doing, and I couldn't think of anything other than reading books.
I believe that everyone can write a story, whether it's a short story or a four hundred page story. The things that our minds come up with is just unbelievable. You are going to have people who either love your book or hate it, but don't let things like that discourage you, because, in the end, you can say that you've written a book. By yourself.
Gosh! I feel like I’ve come back from the dead! It’s good to be back! I’ve missed my GR friends so much! I haven’t been feeling all right at al. I needed to have some time to think and have a bit of a break from writing BUT I managed to finish The Promise! But I don’t think it’s my best piece of work... It’s taken me so long to finish it that at one point I actually wanted to scrap it and not continue writing at all. Luckily I have some amazing friends on GR that keep me going!
Anyway, The Promise is available now on Amazon, or as always if you wish for a free copy from me you’re quite welcome to have one, just send me your email.
I have been so freaking excited to dive into this book. So when Jessica reached out to me to see if I wanted to read it - psh, I didn't hesitate once. However, I couldn't dive into it right then and there because.. I had other books to finish. Sad but true.
The Promise was a pretty good follow up to The Secret. Thankfully it continued right where the first book ended because I needed that little refresher. I was so happy to see that Maggie and the boys were alive. Well, some of them. We never know what happened to Chen until he magically shows up - I was in happy tears guys! I love Chen and he's probably my favorite. However, I think Maggie really enjoys him and Yuta. There's some strange little love action going on between those two but I'm fully shipping Maggie and Chen.
Now in this book, Maggie is deemed a whore. The guys whore nonetheless... but it isn't something she aspires to be. Nope, this chick wants her damn freedom and family back. However, it takes all book for her to finally be reunited with her mother. Along the way, she's beaten, abused, and sort of raped.. but in the end - she wanted it right? Well, that's how Yuta put it because again they had some weird alpha-male type relationship. He might've loved her but I don't think he truly knows what that means.
The one thing I liked in this book was getting to know more about the guys and their family. Their dad is a straight up douche canoe. I was so happy about what happened to him in this book. Then there's the girls that lived there, aka the whores, and they were something. Ling wasn't trustworthy at all. Then there's Shuang.. and I figured something was going on between her and Kang once they got into the house. I was surprised about what happened between them because I wasn't expecting it to go down that way.
The drama was good and the romance was a bit better this time around. However, this book did have some minor errors. I quickly looked over them because I was enjoying the book. I wanted to know how it was going to end.. and it was okay. Good but I was kind of expecting something a bit better.
I really enjoy her writing style. Great characters and suspenseful story. Very violent, but not gratuitous. Needs a good editor, but it’s still a fun read.
