Ana Smith has been on the run for nearly two months when she stops in Bear Mountain looking for work. The community stirs up long buried desires to belong, especially when she meets sexy, muscle bound Seth. Seth is the perfect man, but she knows better than to wish for something that can never happen. Gorgeous, tall, muscle bound guys don’t go for curvy women like her.
Seth Adams returns to Bear Mountain when he finds out his sister-in-law is expecting. As soon as he arrives, the feelings of hope, family and forever stir within him once again. Ana is hiding something, but he knows better than to push her for answers. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to earn her trust, he’s chosen her and he’s not letting go.
When Ana’s past catches up with her, she finds out nothing will stop a grizzly bear determined to protect his mate.
Second book in Bear Mountain series. Seth’s a hot bear shifter and Ana’s on the run for her life. Then, romance.
The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between -Kindle Unlimited book -short novella (60 pgs) -I like the bears and the idea of the ‘verse. Just wish the story was stronger -The heroine, Ana, is just not compelling and she’s a runner. She’s a study in contradictions. She believes in her attraction for Seth, she’s going for it one moment, then running for the hills (literally) the next. Her insecurity, that had nothing to do with the fact that people were trying to kill her, made her annoying. I just didn’t like her.
The Bottom Line The first book was better, but at least they’re short. If you’re looking for something short and easy to read….yeah. TBH, I don’t even know why I keep reading these, but I’ll probably keep going. There’s something there with the ‘verse, just not impressed with the heroines so far.
Second in the Bear Mountain series of five novellas, "Brother Bear" by author Ruby Shae was the story of Ana Smith, a curvy woman in hiding and the giant of a man/grizzly bear shifter, Seth Adams. I say "giant" because in human form, the sexy man is six foot seven inches tall!
Ana is currently waitressing at the local cafe. She hasn't been in town long and because she is on the run from criminals, she can't afford to stay in one place for too long. Bear Mountain is no different from the other towns she stopped in. Except for two things...Bear Mountain is a beautiful town that she feels like she could call "home." Second...Bear Mountain has Seth Adams. Of course, Ana just knows she has no chance of a HEA with the sexy man because of her problems. Criminals and her abundant curves.
Seth Adams returns home to Bear Mountain after having been away for a very long time. He is back to see his brother and sister-in-law who is pregnant with twins. Almost as soon as he arrives, emotions start to stir within him. For the first time, he feels hopeful of finding his true mate. Find her and keep her that is. Unfortunately, she keeps pushing him away. Literally running away which she did too often. Ana's immaturity was something I didn't like at all. Yes, I knew she had issues but still...it was annoying.
When danger finally catches up to Ana, Seth is there to protect and save her. Nobody touches or threatens Ana! She is his mate and Seth stops at nothing to make sure she is safe!
And his!
No more running away for Ana (thank God). She finally finds where she belongs; with Seth in Bear Mountain.
This was a super short story of about sixty pages. It was slightly suspenseful and full of sexy, alpha loving'!
Darcy witnesses a murder that is then covered up by some corrupt cops and has to go on the run, she changes her hair color and name to Ana. She finds herself in Bear Mountain, luckily she gets a job at the local diner working with Kate (from previous book). Seth sees her for the first time and is attracted to her and thinks she’s his mate. She tries to avoid him but in the end she goes to his house for dinner and a movie. They have sex after the movie, initiated by Darcy. The next day she tells him it was fun but...he of course knowing she his mate disagrees with her. He tells her about his bear and how he’s immortal and can help whatever she’s facing. She tells him why she on the run and he promises to take care of her. When Kate hears they are together she is so happy, she comments that Darcy is a much better mate than the last woman he wanted to mate. Darcy feeling like he duped her runs out of the diner. She’s chased by the murderers and falls and knocks herself out. Five days later she awakens in the hospital where she confronts Seth about his other mate. He explains that she was nothing and he doesn’t even think of her. What?!?! He thought of her after having sex with Darcy the first time a week ago! The profess their love and have their happily ever after. Epilogue with them happy and Garrison twins arriving due to the energies. Liked Darcy, she was strong to survive what she had gone through, didn’t really like Seth, he seem so immature.

Love those bear shifter books. Can't get enough of those hot males. Seth finally reconnected with his brother after years apart because of a difference of opinion about Seth's supposed mate. Turns out Gage was right she was not the one. When Seth sees Ana at the diner he is instantly drawn to her in a way he never felt before. Ana senses the same attraction, but she us hiding something and can't get involved. The two finally get together and Ana's insecurities make her run. Seth proves his love and they learn each others secrets. This book has heat, suspense and love that makes these bears so great to read.
She’s been frightened and on the run for two months before coming to Bear Mountain. Seth takes one look at the new waitress and zing he’s finally found the one! She feels the attraction but is weary and ready to run. Unfortunately her past catches up with her and Seth has to step up to protect and secure his mate.
Another short fast paced read, with low drama, Tepid passion and some danger. The sense of impending peril is there for Darcy's situation it just doesn’t ignite and neither does the heat. The characters are likeable enough and the plot has potential I still wish they were longer and had more depth to them.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one brings in themes of trust and safety, as Ana’s secretive past clashes with Seth’s steadfast protection. The small-town setting provides a cozy backdrop, while the tension between fear and hope drives the narrative. It’s a solid romance featuring a strong alpha hero and a heroine learning to believe in love again.
Gage's little brother Seth is in town and he meets Ana, the new waitress and recognizes her as his mate. Only she's clearly running from something and has a lot of trust issues. This one wasn't as good as the first IMHO. The characters (especially the shifters) are compelling enough, but I wasn't a huge fan of Ana. Her insecurities were a bit annoying and there's nothing I hate more than a woman who takes off without seeking an explanation. And she tries to do that with Seth constantly! I was also a bit confused...I figured that if unprotected sex "usually" resulted in a pregnancy and Ana and Seth had unproteced sex when they mated, why isn't Ana pregnant? The world building here needs a bit more detail and consistency. While I'm not completely enchanted with the series, I am still interested and the books are short, so I have no doubt I'll continue.

Gate's brother Seth finally came home after fifty years. And when he did he met the new girl in town. "Ana" is running from something and Seth needs to find out why. He also feels something for her he doesn't understand at first. A need to protect her and keep her safe but he doesn't know from what. "Ana" isn't sure anyone can help but she also feels something for Seth she doesn't understand either. Will she trust him? Will she handle knowing he's a bear shifter? Only time will tell!
I liked this story just as much as the first story. The only thing is I found the heroine a little similar to the heroine in the first book, Lone Bear from this series, Bear Mountain. Their personalities were different of course, but their shape, height, and thoughts about those things were similar. Also, I wish we'd get more of a description of the men when they turn into bears. The colors, texture, size of the bears. But other than those things, I'm really liking this series, and will definitely continue.
Seth Adams gets a surprise when he discovers that his true mate is near and is running from something. Ana is his sister-in-law's replacement at the diner.
He knows she is the one and will do anything to keep her.
These are cute steamy stories in the series. Not a lot of depth and not very long. I still wish they were longer and had more depth to them.
HEA - Part of Kindle Unlimited - standalone book but part of a series. Have grown to love bear shifter books!! This one has a mention for new characters for next books. When his brothers mate becomes pregnant he returns home. He mets the new waitress and hopes she is the one. She is running from her past.
Seth sees Ana at the diner and doesn't understand his feelings for her. He talks to Gage and is told it is the mate bond and will get stronger. Ana is on the run and doesn't know who to trust. She tries to avoid Seth but can't stay away from him. Great story and love the excitement.
This is a great quick read. A heart warming short story of a brother with too much pride looking for the opportunity to come back home. Darcy and Seth both have to come clean to find the happiness they so desperately desire.
Great book with wonderful characters and suspense! Danger, intrigue, romance and great scenery. All great elements to,a wonderful book that was a very fun read! Well worth reading!
This 2nd book in the Bear Mountain series is a quick read and gives enough information for a charming shifter book - The characters are good and the plot is not drawn out!! It seems to be a stand alone book, but reading the 1st will help with some of the other characters. I really enjoyed it!
This story is second in BEAR MOUNTAIN series, involving Seth whose mare witness a murder. Does she need Seth help. Find out for yourself--a good read. S. Otto
I enjoyed this book. the storyline is well written. even though it's a series of books. the can be read as stand-alone books. can't wait to find the next one.
