Making a difference…transforming lives… This year, the recipients of Harlequin's More Than Words Award are three women whose selfless deeds and far-reaching goals are helping to build stronger, safer communities. Now three bestselling Harlequin authors honor these remarkable women with stories inspired by their extraordinary contributions.
Everyone thinks brilliant designer Chris Kessler is the playboy of the architectural world. Truth is, he's strictly a one-woman man. But how can he reveal his feelings when Ali Montalvo's his fiercest rival for junior partner? And now they've been teamed up to volunteer at one of Pittsburgh's most popular charities.
In addition to helping underprivileged kids celebrate their special day, there's something else at the top of Ali's wish list. If only she and Chris didn't clash on just about everything! Now he's planning a circus outing-this from a man who never had a birthday party. That's when Ali comes up with a surprise of her own. Because it's never too late to give the gift of love…

USA TODAY bestselling author Christi Barth earned a Masters degree in vocal performance and embarked upon a career on the stage. A love of romance then drew her to wedding planning. Ultimately she succumbed to her lifelong love of books and now writes award-winning contemporary romance, including the Naked Men and Aisle Bound series.
Christi can always be found either whipping up gourmet meals (for fun, honest!) or with her nose in a book. She lives in Maryland with the best husband in the world.
Never Too Late was written to honor the service to the community by a woman in Philadelphia that gives a monthly birthday party for children in shelters, low-income families and any child that would not have a birthday party at home.
Two architects from the same firm join in helping plan and give the parties at the request of their boss. They are both working hard against each other to gain a promotion at work and forget the goal of helping the children for a while but get it together by the end of the story with a unique solution not only to giving appropriate parties by creating new ways to benefit the entire community. This is an inspirational story that shows a person with an idea, devotion to the idea can make a difference.
"When you accused me of dating my way through the whole city? That was the line in the sand I didn't even know I had. I couldn't take the disappointment blasting at me from those beautiful eyes of yours." "What do you see in them now?" "An invitation."
This was a cute, short story about a so-called playboy and his competition at work...also, the only one he thinks about.
Chris and Ali play a great game of cat and mouse as they try, and fail, at keeping their true feelings at bay. I like the background of this story and the reasoning behind their partnership. It's a great story:)
I almost wish it was longer! I would love more of their story!!
"You really get me. All this time, I thought I was falling for the competition. Turns out I was falling for my perfect partner."
Another romance happened in charity organization. Although the writing could be a propaganda for the organization, but I think the story rather make sense.
It Is Never Too Late To Find Out What Matters Most
This is the last book in the Harlequin Special Release Series More Than Words that focuses on women's charitable efforts and those who make a difference to so many. Never Too Late by Christi Barth, one of my favourite authoresses, spotlights the non-profit charity of Pittsburgh's Beverly's Birthdays, www.beverlysbirthdays.org. Beverly's Birthdays ensures that every child of a homeless or in-need family celebrates a birthday. The happiness and joy that this organization spreads was a great conduit to this wonderful story of competition, compassion, teamwork and attraction.
Playboy Architect Chris Kessler is talented, self-confident and wants security in life more than anything. He is a shoe in for a major promotion at the architectural firm, where he is gainfully employed. However, a challenge of sorts that is outside of his comfort zone along with begrudging respect for a colleague, might just falter his progress.
Fiery Tempered and Organized Ali Montalvo has been wanting to prove herself to the old boys club for quite sometime, as a creative and capable architect. She has been in constant competition with her rival and they have been going head to head to on all the tasks. An interesting opportunity to do good, just might give her the leg up. However, can she fight the magnetic pull brewing between herself and her competitor?
Well, let the fur fly, the nails come out and get ready for some red-hot chemistry! Again, all these stories are jam packed with great characters, awesome story lines, heartfelt activities and breathtaking romance. This was a fun romp that can have the reader laughing and cheering all at the same time. It was lovely to see the characters figure out what is important in life and doing so together.
If you want a quick and entertaining read that involves kids, career stakes, enthusiasm, trust and empathy, then you won't regret picking up this book! Because it is Never Too Late have some fun!
An ok story, cute and a very quick read... but, everything developed way too quickly. The problem I have with this novella is that it was too short for everything that was crammed into it and the romance just a little too unbelievable for my liking.
I will say that I did love how Barth incorporated the real life non-profit group Beverly's Birthdays into the story. Beverly's Birthdays is a group that helps give underpriveleged kids a birthday party celebration when they otherwise wouldn't have anything; people like Megs Yunn are far and few, so good on her. For more info on Beverly's Birthdays, see their website: http://www.beverlysbirthdays.org/abou...
Ali and Ghris are always competing when it comes to work but are on the same page when it comes to keeping it professional, at least they were until a junior partnership promotion opens. That changes the friendly competition into a serious one where winning the job becomes critical to both of them.
This very short story had a very deeply moving message, a romance that had it's ups and downs, several examples of really cool birthday parties and a lovely ending for all.
This was a very quick read. A short office romance that was innocent and done tastefully. I do feel like this story wasn't very impressionable. Walking away from it you'll know you enjoyed, but when you reflect I'm not sure you'll be able to say why. If you want a get happy story with a morally sound plot and structure this is the book for you.
A cute quick story about 2 coworkers working together on a project that would help a community and show the two of them that they can both work together and have a relationship together outside of work.
This book is an easy read with a sweet story. Not only is story sweet but it makes you aware of what things that we take for granted that some people never get to experience.
I found my mind wandering and had to go back and read several parts two or three times. I take that to mean it didn't really hold my attention. Introduction page explained the story so not sure reading the story was necessary. Great charity represented!
