Once the crown jewel of Jaipur’s royal elite, Her Highness Meher Rathore had it all…beauty, privilege, and a future wrapped in diamonds. Then came the scandal. Public. Nuclear. Unforgivable. She vanished. No headlines. No sightings. Just silence. Now she’s back. And determined to reclaim her place in the world that once worshipped and discarded her. But her return hinges on one impossible condition - a fake relationship with the man who broke her. His Highness Maharaja Maj. Samrat Singh Deora (Retd.), 9 Para (SF), was a national hero until he was forced to retire from the army. Battle-scarred, sharp-edged, and haunted, he wants nothing to do with royal society…until a covert mission forces him to re-enter the royal world he despises…with a picture-perfect partner to sell the lie. Enter Meher. Polished, poisonous, and perfect for the job. She’s the distraction he doesn’t want. He’s the reminder she can’t escape. But while faking a fairytale might be easy, it’s the feelings that come after that threaten to ruin them both. But as old wounds resurface and the line between pretend and real begins to blur, Meher and Samrat find themselves caught between duty and desire. Because some scandals aren’t meant to be buried… and some hearts aren’t done breaking. Can two broken hearts survive playing pretend…or are they headed straight for A Royal Scandal?
Kyra Seth has such a comforting way of bringing her royal universe to life, and A Royal Scandal might be one of her most emotionally mature stories yet. This book felt warm, ambitious, and beautifully character-driven.
Meher’s transformation was one of my favorite parts. She begins naive and bruised by scandal, but returns with fire, ambition, and a quiet strength that makes her impossible not to root for. Samrat, on the other hand, starts off frustrating, but once his layers unfold, his pain, duty, and vulnerability feel so real and human. Together, they are intense, misunderstood, loyal, stubborn, and deeply connected in a way that feels raw and earned.
The romantic tension is the perfect balance of heat and emotion. The drama never overwhelms the story. It comes like a pinch of spice. The pacing is steady and engaging, and the found family moments add genuine warmth that makes the entire series feel richer.
Overall, this book gave me cozy yet driven vibes, full of emotional maturity, nostalgia, and that satisfying second-chance ache. If you enjoy royal drama, family sagas, and romances where ambition meets vulnerability, this one is a must-read.
