As the primal god of love, Eros wants nothing more than to spend his days with his consort, Psyche, and their children. There’s nothing like the unconditional love of your family, and having another child sounds blissful to the couple.
Dreams, visions, and a prophecy spoken directly from Chaos send the Creator and his consort down a path that promises heartache. Their dreams of raising another daughter in the God’s Realm with her siblings seem to whither as more comes to light about the mysterious entities in the chests locked within the library vaults.
Secrets and hidden agendas may be their undoing, but Eros feels certain this is all necessary to prevent the visions from becoming a reality. How many rules will he break to keep them all safe, and will it be enough?
I had the absolute privilege of beta reading this book and sharing my unfiltered thoughts with Marie, and wow, what a gift this story is.
📜This is a stunning pre-origin tale, one of the most beautiful I’ve read, and a key to understanding the threads that hold the rest of the series together.
💘Enter Eros. A.K.A. Daddy. If there's one character who’ll make you see love through new eyes, it's him. "Love is infinite. You can always make more." He’s primal, protective, oh-so-possessive. What he would do for love? For family? For Psyche? That man is feral. You also get to see how deeply Eros and Eila mirror each other, making their father-daughter dynamic even more meaningful and understandable.
🌸Psyche? She’s the embodiment of “Pretty Little Baby” by Connie Francis. Just ask the flowers… And the chocolate cake. Seriously. Sure, in some stories and for some readers, the intimate moments between parents might feel like TMI. But with Psyche and Eros, it’s so natural, so magnetic, you find yourself craving more.
🔮Marie’s attention to detail shines. She transports us to the realm of the gods with rich imagery, familiar faces, and intriguing new ones, you’ll be begging for more crumbs (and Book 3 will deliver!!!). Oh, and of course… what’s mythology without prophecies and impending doom?
This novella is so good. I loved every second of reading it. Makes you feel all the feels. You get to learn things you didn't know in the first two books *To Summon a God and To Scorn a God*. Another amazing book by one of my absolute favorite authors.
I’m reading this series in preparation for reading the ARC of the 3rd book.
This book was not as dark as the others, which was nice since I read it right after finishing the 2nd book.
I enjoyed getting to see more of Eros and Psyche’s story and how Eila came to be. Reading the backstory behind Eros’ decisions definitely made him more likable and it was fun to meet Eila’s biological siblings. I hope she gets to meet them soon.
Super quick read compared to the other books. Definitely read books 1-2 first!
Firstly, if you haven’t read the other two books in the series, RUN don’t walk to those! They’re amazing 🤩
I never realized how badly I needed an Eros & Psyche backstory until I read this. It took me on the most beautiful emotional roller coaster from the first to last page! Much like the others, there’s the perfect balance of spice, story building, & gasp worthy surprises. I really enjoyed being able to know the thought process behind all of the decisions and knowing exactly what happened to make Elia how she is! My heart ached for the couple already but being able to read it from their perspectives during/after Psyche’s pregnancy had me in absolute shambles. By the time I finished reading, I felt like I had done a 5k in the God’s realm; emotionally exhausted but absolutely invigorated all the same
This book is an amazing collection to this story. It helps us fully understand how Eros puts the first in Eila.
Psyche is what you would call one hot mom. She carries the best qualities any mother should have for her children. The love she feels for her family is immense.
Eros is oh so godly. I mean, he is a God of love, but oh my. The way he protects his family gives you all the feels.
I love how the author puts the mythology together in the book along with her own twist on things!
This book truly clears up any confusion the reader might have had during the first two books and also gives you a glimpse of what's to come in the upcoming and final book of the series.
Marie’s books keep you on the edge of you seat throughout the whole story. I read the first two books back in January and this novella felt like meeting old friends for a coffee. I fell back in love with the characters and the story instantly.
To see where Elia came from and all the things Eros and Psyche had to go through to create her was such a beautiful way to really understand her more. To see who really was involved in creating her and why she is the way she is 😍
Meeting more characters and seeing the other side of it was so helpful to the story but to the reader too!! Thank you Marie for another fantastic read
Having had the privilege of beta reading "To Create a Goddess," I'm thrilled to see it finally out in the world! I enjoyed the journey leading up to Eila's arrival and the backstories that are beautifully crafted, adding layers of depth to the previous books. The introduction of new characters only enhances the story and makes the reading experience that much better.
An informative novella, highlighting the actions of Eros and Psyche, and the important, yet hard, decisions they made regarding their daughter Eila. More insight into The Final Goddess.
I was lucky to be given the chance to review To Create a Goddess of my own accord, through being offered an ebook, thank you Marie Maness.
One of the most beautifully written novellas I have ever read. I absolutely love Eros and Psyche's story. The things they went through in this story just captivated me.
To Create a Goddess follows the origin story from the Final Goddess stories, how Psyche and Eros came upon the pregnancy with their latest child and how she became one of the most powerful beings in the known universe as well as their struggles in having to allow her to find her own way in life until coming of age.
I adored all of the books in this series and this is no exception. This one is full of sweet romance quotes and moments because of Eros and Psyche’s relationship but also has a beautiful depiction of their family, friends, and life together. It fills in a lot of the mystery behind the other books and rounds out the stories very well.
"Love is infinite. You can always make more." -Eros
This Novella was totally needed and added so much more depth and answered SO many questions to the "To Summon a God" trilogy!
In this, we get to see how Eros and Psyche fall in love and make our WONDERFUL FMC, Eila. And I loved reading every word of their love unfold on the pages and the heart gutting decisions they made to get where we are before the third and epic conclusion of "To Kill a God." Which is an absolute BANGER!
Super quick read that keeps you hooked the entire time! Also, I never wanted lemonade and chocolate cake more in my life while reading this book! 😅
I absolutely loved it. The way she ties in mythology with current technology is amazing! Her writing style makes you feel what the characters are going through! Usually, I can guess (and be right) on how the story is gonna go, and with her, I can't, and I LOVE that! if you haven't read this trilogy you NEED to!!
This is the telling of how the entire book series came to be. It was interesting to see more of the parents point of view and how the family could have been. The terror of a possible dark future and loss of a child, hoping and praying that all will turn out okay. This origin story gave a break from the main character but still showed the possibilities of her, while introducing new characters.
This was such a beautiful and heartwarming masterpiece. To create a Goddess incorporates the importance of love and family very well. Not only does it have the spice, but it also has a good mix of feel-good romance as well.
We're at book 2.5, and the author still have not yet fail to disappoint me. I love how the writing balanced with details and overflowing emotions with powerful character dynamics.
