Cam Foster needs to learn some respect. I'm exactly the man to teach him.The gorgeous rookie is everything I hate. He’s flashy, arrogant, and completely convinced he's God's gift to hockey. The kid pushes every button I have, questions every decision I make, and refuses to show me the respect fifteen years in this league has earned me.
Mentoring him wasn't my choice. Management thinks a veteran influence will improve the kid’s cocky attitude. What they don't know is that every minute with him tests my sanity. When he smirks at my instructions, when he deliberately does the opposite of what I tell him, when he gets so close during our arguments that I can smell his cologne…I want to show him exactly what happens to rookies who don't know their place.
But when his past comes calling with blackmail and threats, when someone tries to destroy the infuriating brat who's rewired my entire brain to feel something I thought I never could, I realize my truth.
I don't just want to tame Cam Foster. I want to possess him. And God help anyone who gets in my way.
Puck Struck is book two in the Dirty Puck series. It is a second-chance MM hockey romance featuring forced proximity, sexual awakening, hurt/comfort, and two professional athletes learning that the biggest risk isn't on the ice—it's opening your heart.
I want to say that this was romance, but it was so much more. This was a dark-ish, gripping, thrilling, page turner that had me in a chokehold. The tension in the first chapters, the brimming hatred. The clutching grip that was the blackmail. The terrifying worry over a child's health scare. The anxiety of an ending career. And a bucket load of pressure from the team to perform well on the ice.
To be fair, I cannot fathom having so much going on and still playing hockey, and still falling for each other like that. This was an intense read and I couldn't put it down. I loved them all.
Z jednej strony wywołała we mnie sporo emocji i w jednym momencie naprawdę się popłakałam. Sposób opisania emocji Logana przez autorkę był cudowny. Naprawdę współodczuwałam z nim wszystko. A moment, w którym powiedział cały czas we mnie pracuje. I za to jestem tej historii wdzięczna.
Z drugiej, kompletnie nie kupiłam tego związku. Napisanie dobrego enemies-to-lovers wymaga albo wielu stron, albo ogromnego kunsztu pisarskiego.
I’m struggling 3-4 ⭐️ .. it was such a good book for so long. From the chemistry and hate lusting to the mystery aspects, I was enjoying it all. However.. Logan was the biggest douche canoe too many times. I loved him then I started to hate him. I’m struggling to now say I liked this book when he put Cam through so much pain. 😩 Then he’s all your everything. You’re perfect, blah blah blah. The whiplash was dizzying!! And.. I’d Cam hadn’t been hurt, would he have ever gone to these lengths finally? 🤔 And where was this ‘second chance’ that never happened? It’s mentioned all over IG and here that it’s that but this is nothing more than a simple 3rd act breakup for a week? What did i miss?
I won a giveaway and received an ARC copy of Puck Struck by Brooklyn Cate, and wow, this book completely owned me.
This was my first sports romance and my first book by Brooklyn Cate, and it did not disappoint. From the very beginning, I was hooked. Just when I thought things were calming down, BAM another twist that had me on edge.
Cam and Logan’s story is remarkable. Both have been through so much, and watching them grow together was everything. I picked it up at 11pm, and before I knew it, it was 3am, I read it all in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.
The tropes were perfection: age gap, enemies-to-lovers, grumpy x sunshine. Logan’s protective streak over Cam nearly brought me to tears. The way he would do anything for his family and for the people he loves made him unforgettable.
This was such a binge-worthy read, and I already need more of Cam and Logan’s story, marriage, family, dreams, everything. If you’re looking for your next unputdownable M/M romance, this is it.
I am not sure how to describe how this made me feel. That’s more a 2,75 out of 5. I apologize from now bc I am not putting the form in this review so it will sound rude. And seem like I hated the book. It’s not the case (ok I skimmed read some part BUT didn’t DNFed)
First of all it doesn’t feel like an interconnected series. Let me explain: Yes it’s the same team Yes some characters from the previous book are here but like we have Carter who is now Team Captain (well deserved btw) but where is Jack? Jack was the star of the team. The most paid player of the team and in this book it’s like he is no longer part of team. To the point that I started to think maybe the time line was when he was recovery from his wound shot. But no no, his name is written 1 time: « his boyfriend Jack, sleeping on his shoulder »
Then the way some phrases are like copy/paste from the previous book. The whole « abusive father burning me with cigarettes when I was asleep and sometimes awake » (or something). I know I am reading the same books over and over BUT really? Having those Déjà vu from the same author within the same series? That’s too much
Finally, arrrrgh come on Cam & Logan, I could create wind energy for a village with the number of time and how fast you turn your head and change your mind. This back and forth « Let’s be together and face it together » but 5 sentences later « no go away » & from both side, like they were taking turn… that was tiring
This time could have been use to show us actually them falling in love. What we got is a start of tension and lust followed by 💥 bam a kiss and hope the « Plot » pb. I mean come on, they didn’t have time to create and connection that they already want to save each other? So yeah the Anger to Lust to Angts we’re done by 30% of the book and then was the « plot » going circle until it was resolved at the end of the book.
At least I did love the ending. The couple was cute though
*Tropes: -MM Hockey Romance -Grumpy x Sunshine -Age Gap (14 years) -Forced Proximity -Animosity to Love -Teammates to Lovers -Veteran Player x Rookie
*Spiciness: 2 / 5
Brooklyn Cate once again delivered a heartbreaking yet beautiful story. She has done an excellent job of writing both the main characters - Logan and Cam. Logan is a grumpy veteran who guards his emotions, feelings and struggles tightly. Beneath all that grumpiness, Logan actually is very caring, responsible, warm hearted, protective and loves his family very much. Cam, a cocky rookie, loves to be the center of attention and comes across as arrogant because of his loud and boisterous behavior. But underneath all that is a very kind person who loves to give back to others, who cares deeply and is lonely with a dark past. When Cam’s past was revealed, it cracked my heart open. Life had thrown Cam in the worst situation and he survived that by doing whatever he could to achieve his goals and make all his dreams come true. Logan had his own struggles which made me respective his actions and efforts even more. Logan and Cam’s relationship starts with lot of animosity towards each other. They both love to keep people at arms length and keep their emotions and feelings locked up which causes a lot of misunderstanding between them. But when they are forced to team up together, they get a chance to see what’s behind the masks they each wear. Logan and Cam face immense challenges and hardships before they finally find the stability and contentment they both deserve and desire, leading them to start a life together. This story is incredibly emotionally charged, and I must admit that I shed tears for both the characters. It has its sweet moments, some teasing and taunting and a lot of heartbreaking revelations. I absolutely loved Logan and Cam and their story.
MY OPINION: I didn’t read the first book in this series, but I had enjoyed the last book I picked up by Brooklyn Cate, so the opportunity to read an ARC of another title was exciting.
This book is an enemies-to-lovers, age-gap story that is a little different than some. Cam Foster is the new hotshot rookie, fast, hard-working, talented, and loved by everyone. It makes everything worse that he is gorgeous.
Logan has been on the team for fifteen years, and it's the end of his career; his body is breaking down, and he hates it. He thinks he can get through one more season if his shoulder holds up.
The problem is that the coaching staff thinks that, as a veteran, Logan should help Cam reel in a bit, while Cam brings up the guy who is starting to struggle. Being forced together, the attraction between them becomes palpable. They are both strong and arrogant, and the heat between them grows into an inferno. There is a lot of attention on the game and the injury that Logan is dealing with.
There are two subplots that make this different than your typical enemies-to-lovers story. Cam has a past that comes back to haunt him. That past creates a situation within the organization, and Logan feels it is his job to protect and care for him. This brings some secrets to the surface, and Cam regains control of his life, having lost it long ago. It’s the story of a warrior gaining his power back.
Then there is the story about Logan and his nephew, who needs his help. How Logan handles it and what is necessary to change both of their lives.
When the chemistry between Cam and Logan takes them to a point where they can’t help but be together, it's a wonderful story of survival, family, and love.
There is a lot to this story, with a lot of little bits that give it depth. I am glad I got the chance to read this as an ARC.
This is the second book in the Dirty Puck series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone read. This is the story of Logan Shaw and Cam Foster. Both are professional hockey players on the team Raptors. Logan is a veteran who's career is winding down. He is desperate to keep playing for at least another year. His shoulder is injured but if he takes time off, he won't be back. He has too many responsibilities for him to allow that to happen. Logan is looking after his widowed sister and his sick nephew whom he adores. They are his prime focus. Cam is a rookie to the team. He is considered an ice phenomenon. He is talented and cocky. But that cockiness hides his deepest fear of not really belonging. Logan recognizes everything about Cam because he reminds him of himself when he first started out. He is also doing everything in his power to avoid Cam. He doesn't like him and he isn't planning on being friends. That is until the Coach implements his new training idea. Veterans will be mentors and room with an assigned rookie. Because Logan his used up all his luck, he gets assigned Cam. Neither one of them is thrilled but when the coach tells you "make it work", what can you do. This is their story. I enjoyed the book. It is written well and is easy to read. I enjoyed watching how Cam and Logan slowly peel back the layers and learn about each other. Not just their hockey persona. There is plenty of drama through stalkers, blackmailers and threats. I received a complementary advance review copy of this book from Literally Yours and I am voluntarily leaving a review. The chemistry between Logan and Cam is not to be missed. I look forward to the next book in this series.
I couldn’t wait to read this book! I love enemies to lovers stories, especially when that hate turns into the most intense love.
Cam was the rookie everyone fawned over. He was talented, beautiful and as cocky as they come. But nobody knew that all that cockiness and easy smiles hid the most painful truth.
In order to make his dream of becoming a jockey player come true, Cam had to do things he isn’t exactly proud of. And when his past comes for him, he’s faced with the possibility of losing everything he’s ever loved.
Logan is the veteran player at the end of his career and hates everything about Cam. He hates how easy everything seems to come for the rookie. How he just wants attention. But what he hates the most is how much he wants him.
When they’re forced to work together to improve their game, it’s impossible for them not to give in their obvious attraction. But Cam isn’t ready to reveal his past and Logan isn’t ready to let anyone in.
But when Cam’s secret threatens them both, Logan can’t help but want to protect him even if he too it’s dragged into it. He knows that Cam means more to him than he can admit and would do anything to protect him.
It takes almost losing him for Logan to realize how much he loves Cam. He knows that he’d do anything to keep the man he loves safe and that his past only made him a man to be proud of how far he’s come.
I really loved them together. Logan might have been a bit of an a$$ towards Cam, but I forgive him because in the end he showed how much he loved him.
This is book two in the author’s Dirty Puck series and features two men with completely opposite personalities. One, Logan, an older, more experienced player, obsessively organized, control freak, and the other—Cam, outwardly carefree, careless and self absorbed but inside, consumed with the fear that he didn’t fit in because of the things he’d had to do in the past in order to make it to the NHL.
Neither of the guys were actually all that lovable in the beginning, they were both kinda Grade A a-holes to each other but as their true personalities and fears were revealed, they became more likable and had me rooting for them—both personally and as a couple.
There was tons of angst here, for those readers who love a good angsty read, as well as many tears (shed by me) due to, not only secrets from an MCs past and a hidden relationship between teammates, but also a personal crisis concerning one of Logan’s family members (hence my tears). And that’s not all—there were accusations of prostitution against one of the MCs as well as failure to uphold the integrity of the team, blackmail (from two blackmailers!), questionable ethics, sabotage of equipment and so much more… enough to keep you glued to your reader so you don’t miss a thing.
If you enjoy a wild ride of a book (not normally my thing, but this one grabbed me by the heart and wouldn’t let go), then you really need to check out this book. I promise, you will not be disappointed. 5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Puck Struck by Brooklyn Cate is an absolute gem! From the moment I started reading, I was hooked. The chemistry between Logan Shaw, the seasoned, grumpy veteran, and Cam Foster, the cocky rookie with a complicated past, is off-the-charts sizzling. This book is the perfect mix of steamy romance, emotional depth, and deliciously messy tension.
Logan is dealing with a lot—not just his career winding down, but also the weight of family responsibilities and a nephew who's really struggling. He's a character with so much depth and heart, and watching him navigate his complicated feelings for Cam, all while trying to stay emotionally distant, was so satisfying. Cam, on the other hand, is dealing with his own demons and trying to prove himself on the ice. The push-and-pull dynamic between them is pure gold. Logan’s gruffness and Cam’s cocky attitude create such a fun rivalry, but it’s clear there's more simmering underneath than either of them is willing to admit.
I’ll admit, there were a few moments where the repetitive arguments felt like they slowed the pacing a bit, but those were quickly forgiven with the payoff that came at the end. The romance is fiery, the tension palpable, and the character development is so well done. If you love hockey romance and MM reads, Puck Struck is a must. I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait to see what’s next in the series! Run, don’t walk, to grab this one!
Rookie and veteran clash in this passionate, steamy, challenging story. On and off the ice there is friction, there are fights, clashes, harsh words exchanged and at the same time there is understanding, team work, support, passion. There is passion for the game first and foremost, from both Cam and Logan, then there is a passion for one another, a flame that flickers to life when they meet and which could burn out of control if they can't make something work. The question is can they make hockey and whatever it is that might be between them work or are there too many dark secrets waiting to haunt them?
Logan has been playing a long time, now a veteran he is fighting a shoulder injury, determined to keep going, after all his nephew needs him, his family need him and they need his money to pay medical bills for the young boy. Cam is new to the game but he fought his way in, away from his family and his past and he is determined to stay. Trouble is he's still looking over his shoulder and his method of coping is a big smile and a cocky attitude. As soon as this mismatched pair are put together as mentor and mentee you can guarantee the sparks of that flame will grow. If they can control it they might be able to make something of it but will their secrets get to them first?
A passionate, heartbreaking (at times) and thrilling roller coaster hockey romance. I was hooked.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Puck Struck by Brooklyn Cate absolutely owned me from page one.
This wasn’t just a hockey romance, it was raw, tense, and beautifully emotional. From blackmail and health scares to career pressure and found love, every page was packed with intensity. The enemies-to-lovers tension between Logan and Cam was electric. Their on-ice rivalry and off-ice chemistry had me grinning, swooning, and holding my breath all at once.
Logan’s the gruff veteran, fighting to hold his world together for the people who rely on him. Cam’s the loud, confident rookie with a heartbreaking past and a heart of gold. They start as total opposites, grumpy and sunshine, mentor and mentee, but the layers slowly peel back to reveal just how much they need each other. Their growth, their healing, their quiet moments of vulnerability… it was everything.
There’s blackmail, danger, and plenty of emotion woven through, but at its core, this story is about resilience and love found in the most unexpected places. It’s the perfect mix of heart, heat, and high-stakes hockey drama.
💥 Tropes & Themes: 🏒 MM Hockey Romance 🌦️ Grumpy x Sunshine ⏳ Age Gap (14 years) 💔 Enemies to Lovers / Forced Proximity 🧩 Found Family 🔥 Slow Burn, Emotional & Tender
This book had me in a chokehold...thrilling, heartbreaking, and completely addictive. I can’t wait for what’s next in the Dirty Puck series.
I was excited to get back into the Raptors team’s world. I fell in love with Carter and Jack, in book one (Puck Lust) and the intensity of this team.
Logan’s age is a factor in hockey, and he’s still dealing with injuries that never fully healed. For him, maintaining his concentration and position on the team is crucial for many reasons, yet the arrival of Cam, the new winger, is complicating matters, and the depth of emotions for Cam is pushing him closer to losing control, which he cannot risk. It’s simpler to cling to anger and hate rather than let the strong connection and attraction he feels for Cam erupt into something they can’t manage.
Cam is an ice phenomenon - cocky, skilled, and built for success. But his past actions and choices, made as he pursued his dream, are resurfacing and could destroy him and everyone connected to him. Sadly, those with bad intentions want to exploit the secret, and it won’t remain hidden.
I could not stop reading because the couple’s intensity and relatable issues drew me in! The hidden moments, the emotional turmoil, and their strong connection made it hard for them to keep their relationship hidden, although the way the team supported them was great (well, not everyone, IYKYK)
Connecting with the team and characters is effortless, and the read is fantastic with my favorite elements. I can’t wait for the next one.
I recommend this author, this series, and others in her catalog of unforgettable works. My ARC was provided by Booksprout, and I voluntarily leave my review.
ARC Review: Puck Struck is book 2 of the Dirty Puck Series. It can be read as a standalone. This one follows Logan and Cam. Logan, veteran hockey player who carries everything on his shoulders. He fears his hockey career is ending. He’s playing with an injured shoulder. His nephew is sick and he takes care of him and his sister. Then here comes a cocky rookie who reminds him of his younger self and it infuriates him. Cam, a young cocky rookie who hides behind a mask and pretends everything is okay. When in reality he’s hiding a past that is threatening his career and future. But with everything going on he can’t deny his attraction to Logan. Both try to deny their connection, try to stay away until they can’t. Both stubborn hurting each other scared of a future with uncertainty. Scared of a future that can completely change their lives. They go through a lot but their HEA was well deserved.
Cocky rookie meets grumpy vet in a fiery, emotional MM hockey romance Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ (3/5) Puck Struck by Brooklyn Cate is a heated MM hockey romance pairing veteran Logan Shaw with rookie Cam Foster in a dynamic that blends rivalry, banter, and undeniable chemistry. Their push-and-pull tension keeps the story engaging, with forced proximity and hurt/comfort elements adding depth to what could’ve been just a spicy rivals-to-lovers setup. Logan’s grumpy resistance and Cam’s flashy arrogance create sparks both on and off the ice, and the external conflict of blackmail raises the stakes beyond the romance. At times, the pacing lingers a little too long on repetitive arguments, but the emotional payoff and sizzling tension more than make up for it. Fans of the Dirty Puck series will find this installment both angsty and rewarding.
Another sizzling hot read in this series! Logan is a veteran professional hockey player with a lot of responsibilities. Besides not being in his prime anymore, he worries about his sister and his not so healthy nephew…who he adores. Nothing drives a veteran player crazier than rookies…especially cocky ones. One in particular is driving him crazy…or is that foreplay?!? Cam loves that he has made it, but he knows he has a lot to prove. He also has a sorted past that he would like to keep there..but we all know that would not make a good book! So his past definitely comes to play! This is a well layered book about family commitments, sorting out your past and everything in between. The characters have incredible depth and great stories to tell. Cam and Logan had quick banter and steamy chemistry. I really enjoyed this quick paced read. This was a great addition to this series. I’m already looking forward to seeing what is coming next! If you like hockey reads check this out…if you like M/M hockey reads…run don’t walk!
I loved Logan and Cam. Their initial animosity explodes on and off the ice into much more than rivalry. They both have deep issues they're dealing with. Logan is dealing with aging out of hockey and what that means while dealing with his very loved nephew's health problems. Cam is a very cocky rookie, but it's really just a facade. He's desperately trying to hide a past that could reach out to hurt him, and it does. These two had great chemistry together and were really able to finally let love in.
I never cry when I read books. I cried reading this one, at the eye doctor's office! There was one scene that wrecked me. But then I was put back together again. I find it amazing that this book never focuses on the face that the two MCs are gay, and in a gay relationship. I don’t think the word gay is even mentioned once. It's as if it was secondary. I'm not sure if that's good, bad, or neutral. Just interesting! But the characters were great, and the story kept.me captivated!
This book had a lot of depth to it, with two guys who are cautious with their hearts and emotions. Cam and Logan start out contentiously, and I enjoyed watching them get to know each other and lower their guards. I got more emotional than I expected to - this is a great book, and I'll definitely check out more by this author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶🌶 Brooklyn’s writing is easy to follow and engaging. I flew through Puck Struck the same way I flew through Puck Lust (book 1 in the series). I enjoyed the banter between grumpy Logan and the over-the-top arrogance from Cam was so entertaining. I quickly learned Cam’s arrogance was only a façade, and there was so much more to him. He used his arrogance as a shield to protect himself. Logan also used his grumpy standoff behaviour to keep people at a distance. Not willing to allow people in to truly get to know him. Both Logan and Cam have had hard lives and issues from their past. While Logan has his sister and nephew, Cam only has himself to depend on. Cam’s past comes barreling into his life threatening to ruin everything. Reading about Cam and Logan opening up to each other and trusting each other with their personal problems was everything. The push-pull tension between Logan and Cam was palpable. If you love MM, age gap, hurt/comfort, and sports romance then this is the series for you.
Dnf @ 31%. Everything from my review of book one can be applied here lmfao I honestly forgot I read it. Anyway also DNF’d bc I got sick of reading the word “brah”. Girl please, you created a fictional world and yet you’re still choosing to add that term into heartfelt dialogue?? 🙃
Really didn’t think I would love a couple more than Carter and Jack but here we are! I love the grumpy character and the vulnerability between them both!! The spice is so good but I love how their relationship developed! I can’t wait for the next book!
