The Kraken #2

Jewel of the Sea

Rate this book
HER INSPIRATION AND HER PASSION…

Three months ago, Aymee had no idea the kraken — half-human sea dwellers — even existed. Now, the violet eyes of the kraken Arkon haunt her imagination, and she longs to know his touch. But word of his people has spread beyond The Watch, and Aymee’s attraction to Arkon may endanger the safety of human and kraken alike. To protect him, can she bring herself to forsake him? Is her desire for Arkon worth putting both their worlds at risk?

HIS MUSE AND HIS JEWEL…

Arkon has spent his life in the pursuit of knowledge. Then he met Aymee and found a new quest: to make her his. She inspires him, draws him in, dominates his thoughts. When he finally builds the courage to approach her, she’s everything he imagined and more. But a group of murderous humans are hunting the kraken, and continued contact with Aymee may destroy them both. Now that he’s tasted her sweetness, he can’t give her up…but can he risk his world and his people to satisfy his need for her?

Reread was pleasant, concur with previous review.

Merfolk May Continues...

Artistic Arkon has fallen for Macy’s best friend, and painter, Aymee. Their romance is complicated by the Hunters who have come to town looking for the legendary Kraken.

Though not as spicy as book one it does promise good things to come and more action/warfare.

By good things I mean Dracchus. Really want to get to book four!

Since Aymee’s friend came back to their settlement with her kraken male, before having to escape again, she has been fascinated with them. And with one kraken in particular; Arkon. But, her contact with the kraken may put them in danger as human hunters have come to The Watch, her home, to find them.

I have no idea how the writing duo that is Tiffany Roberts have done it, but somehow they have made men with tentacles instead of legs sexy. Tentacles! It’s crazy! But I love it. The second in the Kraken series features Aymee and Arkon, who met momentarily in Treasure of the Abyss, that brief meeting has spurned a fascination for both of them.

In a genre full of alpha males, I really like it when an author does something a little different. Arkon is an artist and although he is a skilled hunter when he needs to be, he would much rather be creating beautiful things. I loved the Arkon was a gentler character than the typical hero, although of course he was fierce in his protection of Aymee. I loved the relationship between Aymee and Arkon, it started with an immediate connection with a period of admiring each other from a far, that develops into something deeper once they get closer.

Aside from the romance, there was also some action as human hunters come to The Watch to find the kraken. Although this part of the story was essentially used to push Aymee and Arkon together, it also revealed a little bit more of the history of The Watch as well as introducing a new character.

If, like me, you love alien romances and the more unusual the alien the better, than this is a must read. Even if you don’t like weird aliens, this is still a sweet romance between two people…you just need to look beyond the tentacles.

Second book in The Kracken series

We pick up not far after book one finishes...Macy and Jax escaped with the aid of Macy’s father, her ex and her friend Aymee..

Aymee is a doctor and an artist. Surrounded but always feeling misplaced.

That was until she met Arkon, ( he and D helped to rescue Jax when he was held prisoner ) between the two of them a regular exchange of letters and provisions between the settlement of The Watch and the underwater base where the Kraken reside has been taking place.
To ensure that macy and her loved ones do not loose contact.....

But there is more to it then that... despite the risk.. Aymee is compelled to continue the exchange because of her interest in Akron.

Arkon is and has always been different from the other Kraken, he is consumed by life’s mysteries and it’s patterns. So it’s not surprising when he and Aymee finally meet that he is captivated by her.

But there is a new threat looming for both Aymee and Arkon, the hunters or rangers as they like to call themselves have come to investigate the Kraken.... and no one is safe in or out of the sea it seems.

This book is so rich in story I did not want it to end, The layers of history around planet Holra and it’s earlier settlers is one in dying to get to the bottom of. I’m loving the mystery/suspense side of that and the world building and development that has gone in to this story.

This book is a wonderful contrast to the first in that macy and jax were quite fiery and tempestuous characters... whereas Aymee and Arkon are artistic methodical thinkers... but by no means less chemistry filled... what started as a wonderfully teasing slow burn of emotions turned in to a raging fire and wow.. those sparks!!!

As with the previous book the parallels ( in this story ) with today’s world and it’s lack of tolerance for anything ‘not the norm’ can be seen and felt and it’s a strong lesson in embracing the differences to work towards a common goal... survival. An important and beautiful message too.

Fantasy at its best, gripping and compelling and I just had to devour it in one go!

With so much sugar I might be getting diabetes. The couple in this book was really sweet, but seriously too sweet. It is good to have flaws; nobody's perfect! At least it had a rather nice ending, even though a predictable one.

Tiffany Roberts nailed this!

Arkon was just...

description

...if I thought Jax was romantic and swoon worthy (Yes, tentacles and all) then I had another thing coming with the introduction of Arkon.

Even though we already get to know him in the first book, it was seriously MY pleasure to be further aquatinted with him. And how perfect was he.

Who'd have thought the kraken would be a likely romantic hero? I didn't until book one, and the second installment just proved that thought further. Because these books ARE romance. Very heavy so. But so perfect.

Despite that though it sure as fuck had some heart-stopping moments.

Mental moments where I'd be like:

And moments like this:

Because, stupid bad guys

I feel like I always seem to take note and mention the writing in any Tiffany Robert's book I've read. Because, you guessed it. The writing deserves to be duly noted. Again and again if I must. The duo really do have a thing for stringing words together to describe the otherly and it's thrilling, captivating, surroundings. The writing can always manage to paint a perfect picture in my mind. And I think this is why I'm able to devour their stories so fast. You really don't ever want to come up for air once you start! I sure as hell didn't.

Summer can NOT come fast enough for me.

I gotta wonder, Rhea next? Maybe Dracchus? (whose name I STILL can't pronounce but I love him all the same. I really want to see his HEA. He deserves it through all his loyalty. The guy deserves some loving)

These two were sooo sweet, be careful if you have diabetes ;)

These two were sooo sweet, be careful if you have diabetes ;)
Aymee and Arkon are beyond made for each other ...
They were delightful and fun, with enough drama to make it interesting and give the arc some drama as well...
It was weird I’m an artist my self and there were parts of it with Aymee and Arkon I could definitely identify with, especially the part of never quite fitting in and the need to create and express of course ....
But while I don’t want a couple who spend a lot of time fighting their feelings or their connection to each other, for me it just felt too easy ,honestly I think that just me....
While I want a man who can be sweet like Arkon, and I loved that he was a virgin and it was really sweet and wonderful Amy got to be his first.... I honestly loved that ... you don’t get that nearly often enough, and I also love that Arkon held back because he wanted someone special, he didn’t just want an empty physical moment with a female,he wanted ,well his Aymee...
Personally, I’m not a fan of manwhore’s and honestly I feel their rather been there saw that and if I see virgin in the title you’ve already lost me.... unless it for a dang good reason, I don’t see the reason...
Sorry, but I’m sure we’re all bombarded by that tacky graceless stuff ,but then again that’s one of the reasons books like this are such an amazing breath of fresh air ...
I personally think like like a cross between Jax and Arkon, sweet and sensitive, wrapped up in a strong kick ass alpha ...
That was my only problem here, these are sweet and wonderful, like I’ve said and strong and courageous and just plain awesome, but I need more push and pull more chemistry and dance you get when you’ve got say an alpha make with an alpha female .... open and honest and maybe sweet at times, but a bit of a fight and a spark that leaves you breathless and begging for more...
I loved 💕 Arkon and Aymee but I got bored after a while and kept putting it down and having to come back...
But I had a time and I can’t wait to see who Dracchus ends up with, now that will definitely be an exciting story ... I love how much Dracchus has changed, and Randall and Rhea will definitely be interesting as well... lol, I wonder how a human will like those tentacles 🦑...lol especially with a female as bossy as Rhea ;)
Only other regret is I’d have loved to have seen Arkon and Aymee progress to a baby and such here instead of later when they will just be in the background of someone else’s story...
Thank you Tiffany and Thank you Robert I had a great time ...
Can you send a Kracken down to Louisiana ? Having enough water for him wouldn’t be a problem down here ;)

It has been awhile since I read the first book in this series, but I still adore this world.

Arkon and Aymee were adorable. It was nice to get caught up while the two of them found their way. I know the story line needed a New villain but I swear the humans in this book got on my nerves with their hateful ways.

The next book is about a female kracken and a human male so I am definitely intrigued to read that one.

In JEWEL OF THE SEA—a soaring tale of love defeating obstacles—Tiffany Roberts’ exceptional world building sets you on the planet of Halora and into the loves and lives of both humans and kraken, intelligent bio-engineered creatures. I adored Arkon and Aymee from the start – two artistic people who long for more. Their loneliness of spirit brings the two together, as they see each other in ways no other being has done.

Artist and hunter Arkon is pulled by his desire for Amyee, while she sees a kindred spirit wrapped within the flesh of the part-human kraken. His power and desire are tempered by his need to explore a relationship far beyond the bounds of all that he’s known. Arkon’s gentle exploration combined with Aymee’s fierce passion makes for a heady brew of a tale.

Adventure, threats, and deadly danger to both human and kraken drive the story forward at a compelling pace. Along the way, we meet old friends, Jax and Macy, which is a treat.

While Arkon and Amy are interesting and complex characters, each is relatable in the best way. You really feel for them—for how each exists as an outlier within their communities and how each longs for someone who will understand them, as well as care for them, just as they are.

Jewel of the Sea is a sumptuous and satisfying read that plumbs the exotic world of Halora, the magical ocean depths, and most especially the pulse of a being’s heart.

While I enjoyed this one it was not as good as the first in my opinion. Now it has absolutely nothing to do with the writing but more so with some of the plot (as humans have to come and ruin everything lol). I loved the dynamic between the characters and how they truly fascinated each other just by being. I'm looking forward to more in the series I can't wait to see more of this world and especially now that there are 3 humans living underwater in the facility. On a side note, I kinda love Ayhmee, she was a contradiction to me personally. Her character appearance was all sweet and roses but this girl has no qualms about taking what she wants and going after it, be that man or kraken ;)

I am absolutely Loving this series!
The plot was well thought out and exciting.
The sex was, hot as all hell.
We love an alien ‘extrusion’.😂Especially when there’s add ons.
I love that we got some more information about their ancestors’ lives and plans for the colonies in this book. All of it is just so interesting.
And. We got a painting scene!! Fuck yes! That was hot, And sweet.

I’m just so thankful I saw this series recommended on tik tok.
Kraken are hot, y’all. I knew that before reading this series. But this writing duo just continually reinforces that for me.

With a name like “The Kraken” it is hard not to be intrigued by this scifi romance series. The futuristic setting is a colony on a planet that is not Earth. It is the home of both humans, whose ancestors came from Earth, and the kraken, a human-cephalopod genetic combination created by humans to mine a power source. Eventually, the kraken rebelled and the two species have lived apart for many, many years.

Of course, things cannot continue this way. It is when the species connect that these stories begin to get really interesting. Both sides distrust each other – with good reason. But that does not stop the artists from both species from making an instant connection when they first meet. This first meeting between Aymee and Arkon actually happened in book one of the series, but you don’t need to read it first to keep up with Aymee and Arkon and their tumultuous relationship that should be doomed. Human hunters are looking for the kraken. The kraken hate all humans. It does not look good for this couple. A confrontation between the couple and some of the hunters will set off a series of events that will bring Aymee and Arkon together, but they will need to stay hidden.

Jewel of the Sea is a fun read with few surprises. The odd combination of species is the attraction for me. Overcoming the many challenges that humans and kraken bring on themselves keep the story fresh and interesting. And I really liked these characters. Perhaps there is a wannabe artist in me that I hope will enable me to look at the world with an open mind like Aymee and Arkon do.

The author provided a copy of this book so that I could bring you this honest review.

Short Review

I continue to find this series so delightful and deliciously spicy.

I knew Aymee and Arkon would have terrific chemistry, and their story did not disappoint!

I will say, maybe I’m just a masochist that as lovely as their romance was, it felt so lacking in bumps along the way, and while I did remain engaged, I didn’t feel as compelled as I would have liked. They were maybe too sweet together, if that's possible, heh!

The world-building continues to feel intimate which brings both pros and cons, but in this instance I was itching for it to be expanded a bit more. The plot however, really picks up and I’m eager to see it continue to develop in the next one!

Well…I’ve skipped Randall’s story (sorry to him) and jumped straight into Dracchus’ story, and what I felt lacked in this story has definitely been upped in the fourth book!

Hmm, I think I must still be in a book hangover from A Soul to Touch, cus this book felt kinda… lackluster? I just personally wasn’t that into it and it felt a bit boring. And then I miss the old narration with Hollie Jackson 😭. Still a good book and writing with lovable characters though 😊

Well a short review maybe, I got this after reading book 1 which I really loved but there was something missing from this story that was in Treasure of the Abyss (The Kraken Book 1) . I could not put my finger on it but it was a bit darker and much less action since the majority of the book was taken up with only the 2 of them.

We have introduced some bad guys and they look to be a fixture for future stories at least in near term.

Since this story was taken up with just interaction between the 2 of them (Aymee and Arkon) there seemed to be more pages devoted to sexual scenes/thoughts which did not really add to this story, The last few of chapters had a lot more story and plot movement to them and set us up for the next book which looks to be interesting and possibly stressful.

All things considered it was a good story, not as good as book 1 but a decent effort to move the overarching plot forward and a nice setup for the next book. Wondering how many books are planned since it looks like it would take more than 1 more book to bring this series to a good conclusion but we shall see.

Wow!! I can’t tell you how much I love this world that Tiffany Roberts has created. Sci-fi Aquatic romance is my new jam. :) I highly recommend reading Treasure of the Abyss (The Kraken #1) before Jewel of the Sea.

I would consider Jewel of the Sea a "forbidden love" story. Arkan is a sea dweller who's half human and half, well, octopus. Aymee is a healer for her colony and a gifted artist. Arkan has always been on the outskirts of his Kraken brethren because he's an artist, as well. One meeting is all it took for Arkan and Aymee to make a soulful connection. The problem? The Kraken don't trust humans and would like to remain hidden from them. In addition to that, Hunters have arrived in Aymee's community to investigate the rumors of the Kraken and to possibly nullify the threat. Weekly Aymee takes supplies and messages for her best friend Macy to a drop-off point where Arkan retrieves them. Continued contact with Arkan may bring disaster to the Kraken and destroy Aymee’s budding relationship with him. What an impossible choice.

I absolutely loved this book! There’s a bit more action and suspense in it than the first book. The many twists and turns make for an exciting read. Arkan is a lover not a fighter, but don’t let that fool you. He’d do anything for Aymee. And get ready to dial up the heat on Aymee and Arkan’s intimate relationship! If you enjoy the Sci-Fi Romance genre then this is a must-read book!

Expect this release in early April!
5 plus stars for this fantastic book!

Beautiful, bold, alien romance- and tentacles!!

Okay, so when I read the first book, Treasure, I thought "Tentacles? This is freaking awesome!!" I love real alien romance and can't get enough. It was the cover that originally drew me though (GORGEOUS, and so is this one- Bravo!!). I was hooked with Jax & Macy's story, chomping at the bit for another. Thrilled they made it into a series.

Tiffany & Rob did not disappoint with Book 2. Arkon was so sweet and endearing (though he definitely has his alpha moments) and of course Aymee was just perfect for him. They tease us mercilessly, but then, it's all about the foreplay- am I right? ;) Totally worth the wait.

And the imagery!! Honestly, some of the best I've read. The pictures they paint with words are just beautiful and it pulls you right in. As does the world building. The character development is excellent and it's hard not laugh with them, cry with them, get lost in their story.

I also really appreciated the science fiction aspect and attention to detail in that regard, both in Halora's backstory and the unique characteristics of the Kraken race- how they look, move and communicate with color. Just another reason to love these books!! And did I mention they can taste with their tentacles? I'll let your imagination do the rest (hehe).

Obsessively awaiting Dracchus's story (and Kronos?) Please, please. Love to see those bad boys turned ;) Keep em com'n you two!! <3
