This was easy to connect with and enjoy, and I really like this MM hockey series.
Tate is struggling with his identity and the pressure is affecting his professional life. In a cruel twist, the man he hooked up with (and was ghosted by) is the consultant his coach found to help him be a more effective goalie. The emotions and sizzling chemistry between them does nothing but aggravate an already tough situation.
Zane isn't just there as Tate's coach, he's involved in something deeper and more dangerous than that, with people who don't take no for an answer. Balancing his "assignment", protecting his father, and preventing Tate from falling into the same trap he did is tearing him apart.
The pages turned themselves as the dangers began to intensify, and emotional rollercoaster of their connection becomes too powerful to ignore.
I enjoyed this couple and how they found their forever, and recommend this author's works.
Fortunate to have received an ARC from Booksprout (thank you) I happily leave my review.
Well, this took a different turn from the previous books but it was just as good.
Tate and Zane met in Las Vegas during a time when Tate was trying to figure himself out. He was coming to terms with his sexuality and meeting Zane only reinforced what he suspected all along.
What was supposed to be the most amazing experience of his life turned out to be anything but that. Not only did he feel rejected, but it made him doubt whether he had made the worst mistake of his life.
Fast forward to two years and the man who shook his world strides back into Tate’s life flipping it upside down once again. Only this time it’s worse than the first time because now they have to see each other every day and work together to fix Tate’s game performance.
Zane was brought in as Tate’s coach but in reality he was an undercover spy hired by the FBI to bring down the organization that destroyed his hockey career. In order to help pay for his father’s medical bills and save his own life, he must gather information on this organization.
Things get even more complicated when he can’t separate his duty from his feelings. Being so close to Tate only reminds him of how much he cares about the struggling goalie.
Tate can’t forgive being left alone after the best night of his life but he can’t help his attraction to Zane either. Trying to keep away from him only makes his playing performance worse.
When he too is targeted by the same people who destroyed Zane, he finds himself trapped in a difficult situation. His decision can either help or destroy his family.
Zane won’t let Tate get hurt and makes a drastic choice that almost cost him everything. His love for Tate and his safety is the only thing that matters and he was willing to do anything for him.
I got frustrated a lot with Zane’s hot and cold behavior. He kept jerking Tate around saying one thing and doing another🙄 I understand why he did what he did, but dude, make up your mind!
I still enjoyed reading this. I really love this series. Can’t wait for the next book.
This is part of the author’s Dirty Puck series and I swear, I don’t think I’ve ever read anything even close to how dramatically suspenseful and filled with angst as this book was.
My heart hurt for both MCs but especially for Tate. The stress he inflicted upon himself with his secrets and fears, isolating himself, afraid to confide in anyone, then when he lost his position as starting goalie to a rookie—a position that was tied to what he thought of himself and what he was worth… I was legit worried for a while that he might do something stupid. Intellectually I knew he wouldn’t go there, I mean, this IS a romance and he was an MC but still, the hits just kept coming and I could understand the feelings of hopelessness, like he might possibly just give up at any moment.
Zane, the other MC, was under a lot of pressure himself from every direction—the FBI, the Russian Syndicate, fear for his elderly father and now, the clear contempt that Tate felt for him after he snuck out after a night in Vegas two years before; how was he supposed to work with him now?
Just in case it wasn’t already obvious, this book was angsty AF! It started shortly after the beginning and carried on throughout the entire rest of the book. Several times I was tempted to check out the ending to make sure they got an HEA but I didn’t, I kept going and, by the end, I was glad because it made it that much sweeter but I don’t mind admitting, it was touch and go there for a while! Overall, it was a good book and I enjoyed it.

This one was easy to get into and I’m still really enjoying this MM hockey series. This book definitely took a different turn from the earlier ones, but I was hooked the whole way through.
Tate is struggling with his identity and it’s tanking his performance on the ice. Then the universe decides to be cruel and drops the guy he had a life-changing hookup with in Vegas right back into his life… as his new consultant. Awkward doesn’t even begin to cover it. The tension, the unresolved feelings, and the chemistry between them just make everything messier.
Zane’s storyline adds a whole layer of suspense. He’s not just there to help Tate’s game, he’s caught up in something dangerous and is trying to protect his dad while also keeping Tate from getting dragged into the same mess. Watching him juggle his “assignment” and his feelings was stressful in a good, edge-of-your-seat way.
I won’t lie, Zane’s hot-and-cold behaviour frustrated me at times. I get why he was acting the way he did, but it had me wanting to shake him and tell him to make up his mind already. Still, the emotional payoff and the way these two finally find their footing together made it worth it.
There’s solid suspense, plenty of emotional angst, and great chemistry. I really enjoyed watching Tate and Zane work through their mess and find their forever. Definitely keen for the next book in the series.

This is the fourth book in the Dirty Puck series. It can be enjoyed as a standalone read. This is the story of Tate Barnes and Zane Christensen. Tate is a professional goalie whose performance is crumbling. His self discovery, family pressure and lack of confidence are destroying his ability to play like he usually does. The coach decided to bring in a coach who specializes in goalies. Zane used to play professional hockey until he was too injured to play. He is also hiding a dangerous secret. Worse, when they meet face to face at the Raptors arena; Tate recognizes Zane as his one night stand that brought about his sexual awakening. Nothing about this is going to be easy. This is their story. The author is new to me and I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and easy to read. I enjoyed the suspense and action in the book. Tate and Zane are going to have to work hard to get their HEA.

Tate and Zane shared an explosive encounter in Vegas. The next day Zane disappears but something irrevocable breaks open in Tate and he can't deny the truth he was hiding from everyone, especially himself. 2 years later, his game on the ice is suffering. A coach is brought in to help him and it's none other than Zane. The problem is that Zane is that Zane is hiding dangerous secrets that could hurt his people, especially his father. I really enjoyed the suspenseful backstory with Zane and watching these two learn how to navigate a relationship.
Brooklyn's writing is easy to follow & intriguing. One thing you're guaranteed when reading a Brooklyn book is the last 20% is going to be a wild ride.
My heart hurt for Tate & Zane. They deserved the world & so much love.
This is full of angst, much more than the first two books. Tate & Zane were put through it, & earned their HEA.
In my opinion, miscommunication was prevalent throughout. I am not a fan of the miscommunication trope, but even with that I still finished & am happy I did.
I thought that I was going to read a hockey romance and that the struggle might be to come out or not to come out. This is so much more than that, although a struggle with identity is very much a part of Tate's journey. Tate and Zane wind up fighting so many other tough and dangerous things on their way to their HEA and that made their story arc that much sweeter when we got to it.

This book kept me rapt...I read it at work because I just needed to get to the HEA. It was stressful, but rewarding. There are some confusing time inconsistencies that I have not seen from this author before that led to me flipping back and forth and saying "hmm." But it's all good.
This is book three of the series called Dirty Puck and this is Tate and Zane’s story and it definitely grabbed my attention and kept it right until the end, the suspense of this story was great and I loved how things worked out for Tate and Zane, would definitely recommend.
This is a romantic, suspenseful page-turner. The two main characters, Tate and Zane, are romantic and complex. They are interesting and I cared what happened to them. They had a one-night stand two years ago and now Zane is back and he has secrets that could hurt Tate. I really enjoyed this book.
