Randall Laster crossed Halora to hunt the kraken, sea monsters that weren’t supposed to be real. Betrayed by men he trusted, he was left to die. Hope comes in two unexpected an injured, amphibious sea creature in need of care, and Rhea, a strong-willed kraken who’s made no secret of her interest in him. Merfolk May continues...

There are sexually aggressive women and then there are kraken women. Once Rhea decides on Randall she will beat the crap out of anyone who gets in her way.

Now if only Randall would cooperate. Really, how many times does a girl need to flash maroon to get laid around here?

There was an adorable sea creature named Ikaros featured as this novella was part of Pets In Space 3: Embrace the Passion benefiting service dogs.

A kraken female and a human man !?! Here for it.
Rhea is soo dominant and I loved her. You don't fuck with a kraken ,especially a female kraken that has claimed a male and will rip apart anyone who dares harm Randall the Hunter that was brought to the Facility at the end of book 2😍😍
Extra points for a cute pet and an inquisitive young kraken girl❤

Rhea + Randall

A short novella about Rhea and Randall after the events of book 2.

Single parent Rhea battles against her attraction to human Randall. There is animosity from all the male kraken, upset that one of their few females is being claimed by a human.

The shining star is the rescued pet Ikarus. The bond and joy Ikarus brings to Randall was so sweet. I love animals in romance books.

Rhea is used to the kraken ways, and is very forward with wanting to sleep with Randall. It was nice to see him battle this a bit, and request that they get to know each other. He doesn't want to be a conquest, he wants something more substantial and series.

This story lets us see the female kraken's side of things when it comes to getting involved in a relationship with a human. Which, I must say, I liked. On the other hand, we also got to see more of the tension dividing the kraken clan and, hoo-boy, I don't think that's going to end well.

Not well, at all.

But let's talk about Rhea and Randall. Like Jax and Arkon, Rhea has been quietly accepting her loneliness. Randall's sudden introduction to their group and seeing how both Jax and Arkon have found the thing she didn't know she wanted leaves Rhea in an odd situation. She has no idea how to court a human male since female kraken don't court and, as one of the rare females of her kind, the fact that she's choosing a human over a kraken isn't looked upon well by some.

Like, I said, there's dissension in the ranks and Rhea choosing Randall doesn't help that tension in the least.

On Randall's side, he's sort of drifting now that he's no longer a hunter. He has no real purpose and he knows too much for the kraken to let him go. Proving that he can provide for Rhea and her daughter is his first step into fully joining the kraken. Actually joining with her? Well, that would be the second step.

I like these kraken and the humans who complete them. Things are unsettled now, but (eventually) I imagine it'll all work out. Eventually.

Excited for this one as it’s very rare we find fem!monsters with human!men but this has to be my least favorite in this series thus far. It was surprisingly extremely vanilla. I was passively interested their romance the whole way through but compared to the rest of the series, I was hoping for more. It also ended quite abruptly for my tastes. I finished and literally said, “that’s it?? It broke my streak of 7 DNFs in a row tho so that was great!

Rhea is one of the few females in the Kraken populous and has a young daughter named Melanie. In book one, Rhea is a complete jerk who doesn't want to share with the human women. Until she meets Randell, who came with his dark past of betrayal, she claims him as soon as she sees him, and the story takes off from there.

I have noticed that there aren't many alien female romance books, but usually, the women die from a disease, and the males need to repopulate their planet.

Nevertheless, Rhea's story was an excellent take on the alien female's romance with a human male.

D-awwwww

Sweetie Randall 100% needed his book and Rhea was a good match for him. She had already been building a friendship with the human women and thus had a better understanding of human behavior. Although they still had their fair share of miscommunications. They were adorbs together, especially because he was a total cinnamon roll. Only major change I would have liked is more time spent on building the relationship between her daughter and him.

It was a nice sweet story...

Personally I didn’t really connect with these two, but that’s ok,this was just one of those cases where you can honestly say,”It’s not you, it’s me.”
Rhea and Randall are a wonderful couple and it was a nice change from where things usually go,to having the guy want to take things slower and get to know the female and earn his place with her.
And not the other way around as it usually goes...
I liked that. Randall seemed like a good guy, whose attractiveness was inside as well as out.And I loved having a strong female who knew what she wanted and her fighting for and claiming her male.
And I don’t know, maybe it’s me maybe it’s just my l k or connection w/ the characters but v n though it’s a fantasy of mine to have a woman get to the claiming for once. Not just be claimed by the male/man, but to get to do the claiming as well, it just didn’t do it fo me...
But it’s one of those things where you know something is good,it just wasn’t good for you ?
Make any sense ?
I don’t know. Just one of things where you can appreciate somethings goodness but know it’s not for you..
Lol,sorry for over stating my point, just no one here telling me they get it I guess ;)
I love this series but I gotta say I guess so far Kronus has had my favorite story . This I guess reminds me why. Kronus has come soo far and this reminds us just how f a r he’s come. To see him come to love someone he would hav once bared or despised simply because of her species was a wonderful thing to see/watch unfold.

Thank you Rhea and Randall and Team Roberts, please know you are appreciated ❣️
And Thank you for the drawing of the prixxir, Ikaros.
Thank you. I’d never had a good picture in my head of what he looked like and lol Thank “Cat/fish” looking thing the sideways sweeping tail and feet that make me think of a large bird of prey, kinda making think of an aquatic house cat version of a griffin, soo soo was NOT it! 😂 😆 😝
I was thinking more of a some how cute over sized lobster looking thing ;)
Thank for the sea cat creature..

This would have been a great story if it had been a full length book instead of a novella. Unfortunately because of it's length you were told about the actions of the characters but you didn't really see it or connect with it. It's a shame because it looks like all the other books are human females and male Kraken, this one had a female Kraken paired with a human male, and that would have been a cool perspective to explore. Anyway fast read, but I didn't really enjoy it.

I always enjoy when alien/monster romance has a female alien/monster and a male human. It's so atypical to the genre where most books are based on human females being abducted or used for breeding.

This novella followed Randall's story. He was introduced in book # 2, so the story didn't feel rushed. I liked the dynamic between Randall and Rhea and it will be interesting to see how the dynamic between humans and krakens continues to evolve.

Next story is Dracchus's and I can't wait!

It really didn't have much. They are keeping Randall under the sea as they see him as a threat even though that isn't the case anymore. Rhea is attracted but sex is off the table as he needs a connection. She doesn't understand this and he comes part way but definitely wants to "make a den". Not really sexy for a sex time book though I really liked the pet, which was like a dog undersea. Part of the Pets in Space series too.

very short story which i think it could have been more in this story.

Melina should know who her father is and like it said this could be more in the story but no.

3 ½★

A very sweet short with a different perspective than we usually see in these books, featuring human male Randall and Kraken female Rhea. It takes most of this story for these two to finally join, but the world building that happens helps set up for future installments. Things are getting tense in The Facility; it's only a matter of time before it spills into violence. (It seems it was one thing to allow human females into the Facility as mates to some of the more eccentric members of the group, but it doesn't sit well when one of the rare female Kraken decides to claim a human male as her mate and removes herself as an option to the male Kraken. Things start to escalate and quickly.)

I usually dislike children as written in SFR and related genres, but Melaina was a welcome addition to the story and worked well in it. She was not obnoxious but flowed well in the story line, and the addition of a pet also welcome. They make such a cute family; I can not wait to see what future installments have in store for them.

Currants are changing

Randall didn't take control of the hunters fast enough and after the rogues tried to take control, things went south. So did he, as in under the waves. Taken because he'd saved Aymee, Macy and the kraken, and because he was shot, he now resides in the Facility. Whereas Macy and Aymee have strong kraken males to protect them, he has something more fierce- a kraken female.

Spoilers ahead.
This is short. Sweet, but definitely shorter than the previous books. Randall moves human slow. In everything. Rhea moves at a much faster pace. Watching the 2 cultures mesh, in a different manner than seen previously, is fun. Rhea has a youngling, as a rare female she has her pick of males, and isn't used to thinking long term in relationships. Randall is used to being listened to, feared and revered, and being the dominant one in a relationship. Here, even kraken who aren't grown can break him, and the women choose.

I'm not a huge fan of novellas but I think this one would have been perfect if the love scenes were just a smidge more drawn out.

I liked that this story deviated from the first 2 with a female kraken. Honestly I was a little bit on m/m team Dracchus and Randall.

This one didn't have as much background noise and I really liked the addition of a pet. There was a little bit of political drama but it wasn't nearly as repetitive as book 2.

I'm looking forward to a switch up after 2 gentle guys, Dracchus is up next!

Kronos was a tiny bit less disgusting, so that gave me a little bit of hope that I won't hate his story in book 5.

Plot 5/5
Steam 3.3/5 A little bit disappointing, but what was there was hot.

I don't think I would read this one again but it was a good installment in the series.

“I will never have hair like your females.” He took her hand in his as she lowered it. “And I will never have tentacles.”

Rhea and Randall, cuties. I'm glad this was a novella because I don't think I could handle going back to the mainland just yet. Rhea finds Randall handsome and her way of thinking is starting to change now that she has been living around Macy and Aymee.

“But don’t doubt that I want you, because once I prove that I can provide for and protect you and Melaina, you will be mine.”

Randall has to come to terms with his feelings about Rhea and find his place among the Kraken in the Facility. He finds Rhea beautiful and adores her little girl Melaina. He also get a new pet, or the sea cat version of a pet.

Love this series

I wasn’t sure if I would like this book as much as the others because of the gender reversal between human and kraken. While I did enjoy the book, I think I enjoy reading about male kraken and female humans better. Still a great story. This book is considerably shorter than the others in the series so I would consider it a novella since it took me less than 2 hours to read.

This is a fantastic series with incredible world building. The division among the humans and kraken is dramatic to read but refreshing to see the positive changes between the 2 in each book of the series.

This one was a kind of a continuation of the last book. Finishing up a story that was started by the ending.
It was a bit shorter than the first two, I’m pretty sure.
But it was still a complete story.
I loved pretty much everything about it.
My favorite part would have to be Ikaros though. Oh my god. I always love animal companions in books, and this little prixxar is just absolutely adorable. And the picture!! 😍So fucking cute. Like an amphibious cat dragon.

I loved it.
I can’t wait to see Dracchus get his girl in the next one.
Im absolutely loving this series.
Kraken are fuckin sexy, and no one can prove otherwise.

Lovely and not super long

I was going to skip this, but I'm glad I didn't. Why did I want to skip this? Because the ml was a normal boring human, lol, and I couldn't picture myself as the fl, aside from the motherly bond she had with her daughter. But I really enjoyed it. It was good to see a decent human being apart from the norm. I loved seeing them all become a family, and, though I couldn't quite picture the description, I adored their

Pet. He had the best personality and it was great to see the hunter "tamed" so to speak; ended up loving the very things he was bred to hate.

Randall and Rhea. I figured given how she was there to mend him back to health but still a nice surprise for them to have their own story. It is a disappointment that they weren't given the same page count as the other characters. I would have preferred them have a full length story then a novella. It gives the characters a sense of unimportance. It would have been great to see Rhea learn more about positive human behavior. Randall proved his sincerity by asking to wait and get to know Rhea which i loved. I just wish we got more of them getting to know each other. Either way, cute novella. I'm happy for Rhea and happy for Randall.

Rhea and Randall

Wow! This series just get better and better! I truly am enjoying this series so much! The plots are fantastic and so engaging that before I know it I am at the last chapter 😳🤓😉 we already knew a bit of the main characters from previous books but it was lovely to get to know them better and was interesting to see how it would have work with a female taken and a male human. The story was packed with action, adventure, intrigue and red hot romance. Highly recommended

“You are worth the fight my hunter.”
“So are you”

Another day, another kraken romance that blew me away.

First, I want to celebrate the fact that Randall found his confidence! In book two he was a complete pushover and that irked me. In this, wow did he get that character development I desperately yearned for. Although this is literally 9 chapters, everything felt well balanced and wasn’t rushed. Out of all monsters, I always disliked the ones with tentacles but this series continue to challenge that.

Spice: 🌶🌶
Emotions: 😌🤭😮😤👏😅🥰😳🤬☺️🥹

I originally didn’t know how I felt about human male and female Kraken but after this book, I see no problem with it. Rhea is very blunt and straightforward which seemed like exactly what Randall needed. She helped give him purpose among the Krakens and I love her arc because she was not a favorite in book one. I can’t wait for Kronos to get his comeuppance. This conflict among Krakens is reaching a boiling point and sides are drawn. I look forward to Dracchus book. I’m not sure how I feel about him. He seems very cut and dry, like Rhea.

The story is very short (which is a shame bcs it has potential), it's lacking in romance building. I chose this book bcs I was tired of reading male monster x female human, this is the first book I read from this series and idk if i would read the rest of it. The sex scenes were kinda of scary ngl.

I give this 2 stars just for Ikaros, it deserve all my love.

Living among the Kraken, Randall is having to challenge his beliefs. Nothing is so clear cut anymore. He can no longer see them as beasts of prey to be hunted. This is a fascinating story of love between a human male and a female from a unique hybrid sea-dwelling culture. His very protective pet, a prixxar, is an early warning system when danger is near. It’s not exactly my idea of cuddly, but still very adorable. I love this story!

1st things first, I LOVE these characters and this series. This was a cute little novella, which I do understand are shorter and less in depth than their longer counterparts.
That said, I'm not the biggest fan of insta-love, add that to the fact that these are two different species and that Randall had been so adamant about Aymee before.. made it kind of meh to me.
But, again, it was a novella so, get what you can from 90ish pages. Overall, lovely little story.

This was an okay read. I hadn't really warmed up to Rhea from the previous novels and this story really didn't develop her character very much. Of course that's really hard to do when you're writing a novella anyway. Randall was ok, you could tell he wasn't a bad guy by the end of book two and I'm really happy he found a home and family in this story. But again, would have liked a little more info about his character overall.

Quick but satisfying

A short read, but an important part of the overall series arc, and a satisfying romance, however brief.

Disappointed that female anatomy is given relatively short shrift in the description department, though: if you are going to linger lovingly over every adult toy aspect of the male genital differences, how hard can it be to spare a sentence or two on the distaff side?

This was overall pretty cute. I haven't read the first two books, because I was on the hunt for a female-tentacle human-male pairing and don't care about the reverse. Plotwise, I didn't really know what was going on, though it sounds like an interesting world. I liked how dominant Rhea was.

However...what is the point of having tentacle monsters if you don't have tentacle sex?
