There's a new girl in Stephanie's class. Wendy's really nice, but she's well...a little geeky. Stephanie does her best to help Wendy fit in. She even takes her to the mall and helps her buy cool clothes and the right CDs.
3.75 stars. This book's central focus is Stephanie Tanner. Stephanie's class gets a new student, Wendy. Stephanie's teacher asked her to help Wendy adjust by showing her around the school and partnering with her on a class project. Stephanie is not thrilled with this development because she views Wendy as a nerd. Stephanie takes it upon herself to make Wendy cooler. She takes Wendy to the mall to shop for clothes and CDs. While receiving help from Stephanie, Wendy gets bullied by Jenni Morris and the Flamingoes. This situation leads Wendy and Stephanie to concoct a plan to enact revenge on them.
Overall, I found this book wholesome and a delight to read. I enjoyed that the characters and their traits were similar to those of the TV show, in addition to the new characters. I also appreciated that the plot points and storyline of the book were different from the TV show. This writing style gives the stories in the series variety. I will continue the series. I have noticed a common theme in the Stephanie books. They always contain elements of Stephanie feeling left out or being bratty. Stephanie always ends up fixing her behavior by the end of the story. The books are still enjoyable, but those themes are becoming repetitive. We shall see what transpires as the stories continue.
Yikes! As a tv-tie in series this one didn't do it for me. The prose stumbled, Stephanie's bffs seemed interchangeable, and the writing seemed first draft material. The plot is about Stephanie getting saddled with a geeky new girl Wendy but her plan for a make-over to keep her from getting tormented by the Flamingos (think meaner Unicorns for Sweet Valley Twins fans) backfires.
