One of my favorite volumes of this series as we really see how much Satoko has changed throughout the events of this series. Her entire family seems to be absolutely terrible. It’s an interesting dynamic seeing Satoko and Shinpei separated.

As for the bonus content with Ogawa at the end I found it to be interesting and was more engaged with the material than I thought I would be.

Firefly Wedding is 13 volumes so this is clearly the last arc and I’m here for all of it.

When I first started reading this, my immediate thought was: this would do wonders in Shojo Beat magazine back in the day—only to see it was produced/distributed by Shojo Beat lmao. Ugh. It’s making me relive those days of excitedly getting a new issue and reading all the new juicy Shojo drama/horror chapters.

Al principio Kotaro no me gustaba del todo. Siempre andaba serio y su forma de ser tan "correcta" me sacaba de mis casillas. Ahora gracias al extra que aparece en este tomo donde expresa lo que siente y piensa lo entiendo bastante mejor e incluso podría decir que me cae bien.

Volviendo al tomo en sí, vaya tensión... Que se arregle todo, por favor

This felt a bit short because of the Kotaru bonuses which I thought were pretty good at giving us more insight into the character. The revelation of the previous volume came to full circle in this volume and we got to see a bit of her home life. Her sister is an interesting character. I think at this point I need to see some of how bad ass Shinpei. I am missing that aspect at this point.

I gigli ragno rosso in copertina parlano da soli. Che macello in spiaggia e quanta sofferenza per la povera Satoko, tradita così dalla persona di cui più si fidava e voleva bene. Shinpei impazzirà lontano dalla sua amata, poco ma sicuro.

So does he have two personalities or is he just in some psychotic episode? I feel so bad for Satoko, poor girl. The rich guy who wants to marry her actually isn’t too bad. Maybe she should go through with it but at the same time I want her and Shinpei to be together. But if Shinpei really is that fucked up, I don’t even think he should be trusted around Satoko anymore. It’s sad and disappointing. Although, I don’t think it should’ve been written any differently. Shinpei went through a lot as a kid so I get it, I can sympathize. But that doesn’t excuse crazy or make it any better. He can’t take back the murders of the nobles and their guards, their staff, that he committed. Shinpei is scary.
I don’t like how the cover makes it look like Shinpei has a blade to her neck. Nothing like that happened (yet?)

C'è una cosa che ho capito leggendo questo ottavo volume: la povera Satoko si è sbagliata di brutto riguardo il vero carattere del padre. Del genitore amorevole verso cui lei si sentiva in debito non c'è traccia. Il capofamiglia è un fetente patentato: un manipolatore, uno che considera sua figlia una mera risorsa da sfruttare e non un essere umano. Lui comanda e il resto della famiglia deve obbedire. Con la sua onestà (non vuole mentire a un eventuale futuro marito riguardo le sue condizioni di salute), Satoko diventa un intralcio per i piani del padre, il quale decide di avallare il piano della matrigna e di farla rapire - una sorta di messinscena per spingere Satoko tra le braccia del suo "salvatore", un uomo ricco e di buona famiglia. Shinpei sarà l'elemento di disturbo, destinato a far saltare il banco (e a conquistare il cuore della ragazza). Insomma, papà Kirigaya dubito che vincerà mai il premio padre dell'anno 🤢 senza dimenticare che ha le mani in pasta in cose molto poco pulite, visto che l'isola su cui aveva spedito la figlia è sotto il suo controllo...

A questo punto, i nostri protagonisti sono separati: Satoko è stata trascinata a casa e, nel tentativo di proteggere Shinpei, Kotaro e il resto della banda, ha deciso di seguire gli ordini paterni, anche se la cosa la fa soffrire parecchio. A movimentare il tutto ci penserà la sorellastra, decisa a fare da cupido, su di giri all'idea di aver scoperto la vera identità dell'uomo che ha fatto innamorare Satoko. Ora resta da vedere quale sarà la reazione di Shinpei (probabilmente non sarà delle migliori).

Ho talmente tante cose da dire su questo volume che non so da che parte cominciare.
Partiamo dalla brutta notizia: uno stronzo su internet mi ha spoilerato di proposito il finale del manga (in Giappone si è gia concluso) e se ci penso vorrei morire. Per questo motivo, non saprò mai se le mie opinioni sul manga a partire da questo volume in poi saranno genuine oppure saranno influenzate dal fatto che so già come finisce la storia. Sigh.
Detto ciò, questo manga è decisamente ancora in grado di sorprendermi: la copertina è spettacolare, lo stile di disegno della sensei Tachibana è come sempre stupendo, e il capitolo extra su Kotaro mi ha resa super felice, visto che già shipavvo Kotaro con Yukari. Almeno una gioia!
Passiamo alle cose che non mi sono piaciute: in questo volume Satoko sembra completamente fuori personaggio, era così determinata quando si trattava di "sposarsi per il bene della famiglia", che vederla rinunciare a Shinpei così in fretta non mi ha convinto. La lettera che gli ha scritto, incoraggiandolo a dimenticarla non sembra proprio da lei.
Un'altra cosa che non mi è piaciuta è che non sia stato dedicato spazio al dolore di Asagiri per la morte di Mitsueda. Tutto quello che ci viene mostrato di lei di fronte al suo cadavere è una vignetta di profilo. Considerato che era l'uomo che amava, mi aspettavo di più.
Infine, non mi fido di questo voltafaccia inaspettato da parte di Miwako. La ragazza trama qualcosa, ne sono certa.
Non vedo l'ora che arrivi il prossimo volume!

the start of the bloodbath. her dad shot him straight. everyone fighting at the beach. omg the shocking part was the gangster boss died. such a shame cuz him and shinpei lowkey giving son and father and god knows shinpei needs a parental figure in his life. but i feel like someone had to die in this manga & he was the most suitable choice i guess. to keep the plot moving and to show the stakes are high. but its such a shame really. i was definitely affected by it. and to think he JUST reunited with asagiri too!!!! the writer really have no mercy....sobs. i actually missed his presence in satoko & shinpei's story. i also actually think (this is a spoiler for ahead) that if he didnt die, shinpei wouldn't have to run away for decades. #crying

so shinpei & satoko got separated at the beach. that panel was a painting fr.

kotaro got abandoned by the kirigaya family. shinpei is half dead. satoko is hallucinating shinpei in her backyard. the angst was angsting so bad my chest hurt

i roll my eyes at satoko's lil sis making an appearance again. she's still as unlikable as ever. i thought she'd be redeemed but no. spoilt brat rotten doesn't care about her sister at all. narcisisst

satoko truly deserved better. aka the people in the celestial island....thats her real family

Tras la aparición del padre de Satoko se destapa la verdad: aunque la madrastra de Satoko había orquestado su secuestro, su padre es el responsable de que terminara en la isla. Shinpei y Kôtarô se enfrentan a él y quedan heridos e incapaces de evitar que se la lleven.
Ha sido un tomo lleno de tensión, de incertidumbre, de recuerdos que nos llenan de añoranza y que, en una historia tan gris como esta, recolocan las piezas del tablero.
Los personajes principales se encuentran a una situación en la que casi todo está fuera de su control y lo gestionan lo mejor que saben.
Los secundarios han destacado mucho, no solo por el punto en que se encuentra la historia, sino porque desde el principio nos ha dado un gran reparto y se les ha dado el tiempo y el espacio para brillar. Aquí quiero destacar lo mucho que ha evolucionado Kôtarô. Ha empezado a descubrirse a si mismo, a ver que más allá de lo que siempre la han dicho que le corresponde hay una voluntad, un deseo.
He disfrutado de la historia, pero con el corazón en un puño.
Estoy deseando tener el próximo para así poder ver como se resuelve la situación.

Un volume che mi ha lasciata sconvolta e senza fiato.
✨ La copertina è meravigliosa e magnetica, una di quelle che catturano lo sguardo e non lo lasciano più.
⏳ Ma è la storia a colpire davvero.
Scoprire che a Satoko resta così poco tempo mi ha spezzato il cuore… una rivelazione che rende tutto ancora più urgente, più doloroso, più intenso.

Continuo ad avere un pensiero fisso: e se fosse davvero un demone?
Il suo modo di amare è estremo, ossessivo, pericoloso… un amore che travolge tutto.
🥀 Questo volume è intenso e straziante, pieno di dubbi e incertezze che ti tengono con il fiato sospeso.
Ma una cosa è certa: l’amore può rendere folli… e nel caso di Goto, lo rende decisamente pericoloso.

my girl did everything for herself to get through any obstacle come to her in every situation by herself and made people come to terms to help her because they believe and trust her. this man just comes and talks to her like she is just a object that always need a outsider to take care of and used as if it is his asset. he made her feel like she deserves nothing, her dreams are just greed. when she deserves everything in the world. i am in shambles, maybe violence is the answer, maybe i am with shinpei in this situation, maybe i will slide whatever he does, maybe i can bear the consequences, maybe i am also going feral.

definitivamente se viene un final triste!!!! lástima que shinpei ya al parecer perdió lo último de cordura que le quedaba, a estas alturas espero que sea asesinado por la policía para que deje de matar a gente inocente. A pesar de que nos metieron al personaje del hijo del duque para más conflicto, es realmente un buenísimo hombre para Satoko

Les événements se succèdent et les vrais méchants montrent le boût de leur nez. On fait des plans pour un avenir incertain et on accepte enfin des sentiments qui auraient dû l'être bien avant.
Une série qui a encore plus de potentielle maintenant. L'histoire avance bien, mais j'espère que certains clicher seront detruit dans le tome suivant.

Drama a fons després d'un volum tràgic, el pare més dolent que la tinya i la relació que sembla impossible de sostenir. La Satoko vol trencar lligams amb el Shinpei per protegir-lo, però no crec que ell accepti. Volum de transició, amb més ganes d'acció i veure com es resol tot plegat ♥️
