Bane of Hate and Silver

Rate this book
In darkness and shadows the creatures of the night reside. The picturesque seaside town of Aboit, Maine is no exception. When centuries old vampire, Juliana Bristow, enters an altercation with the Alpha of the local werewolf pack, the battle turns bloody. However, it’s the pack's Beta, Luca Cain, who catches her eye. A twist of fate and one blind date later, new love blooms.

To be together, independent Juliana will have to open her heart and accept sensations of desire she’d long ago hidden away. Loyal Luca will have to betray his pack to pursue the one his Alpha has marked for execution. An odd assortment of dogs, demons, and humans will choose to fight against the prejudice that would see the forbidden lovers dead simply for choosing each other.

With their lives thrown into immortal peril, a little murder, a lot of blood, and an epic battle, this tale of forbidden love rivals that of Romeo and Juliet. Is new love strong enough to win this war between these supernatural species or will they all parish at the hands of hate and silver?

Bane of Hate and Silver is for readers who love the found family of A Court of Wings and Ruin, the action and romantic tension of Fourth Wing, with a little extra darkness of Phantasma. With praise for its great pacing, fresh take on the supernatural species we all love, and multiple point of view narration, this is a new Supernatural Romance you don't want to miss.

Vampires! Wolf Shifters! Forbidden Love! Tons of Action! This book starts off with a bang and does not stop. I loved everything about this book. It kept me on my toes. As I read, I kept wondering how things would unfold and how certain characters were connected. I loved that this was set in modern times and I loved the twists. The action was on point and the ending left me wanting more. I will now buy and read anything this author writes.

This felt kind of like a Twilight fanfic - so I loved it :)

Vampire and werewolf romance, with found family, and a really awful villain character. Gloomy overcast days make the vampires able to exist, and work in a school. The werewolves live in a Den (frat house) and have normal jobs too. I liked how these supernatural folks exist without suspicion in their town. There's backstories that are brief, and easily leave it open for more books. I am pretty snobbish about vampire books and I honestly enjoyed this one!

I received an advance review copy and I am *hoping* it goes in for one last edit prior to publication. The typos were cheesy, for example the gas pedal in a car is written as "peddle". I found myself being engrossed in the story, until running across odd typos that made me chuckle.

I received a ARC from the author and am leaving this review voluntarily.

found family.forbbiden love. vampires wear wolves.

I really enjoyed this. the love the fmc has for her found family and the love she finds in someone she should not be with. The loyalty the mmc has with his found family. I loved the way both found families accepted the others' found family. long lost relatives.epic battle. Ashli did a really great job with making you really hate the antagonist. there is sadness as well.she did a great job of setting you up to wanting to read the next book. I'm so excited and can't wait to read more on the fmc's past catching up to her. there is more that I'm excited about, but I'm not sure if it would be spoilers.

the pov switches took me a second to get used to, but once I got the flow down, it was fine.

This Book Bit Me and I Said “Thank You”

I devoured this book in ONE sitting like I was the actual vampire. No breaks. No breathing. Just chaos, kisses, and the kind of forbidden love that makes you want to scream into the void and reread every stolen glance.

First of all—JULIANA & LUCA?? I was not emotionally prepared for this level of chemistry. She’s an immortal badass vampire with bite and grace. He’s a broody, golden-retriever-energy werewolf beta who chooses her over everything—yes, even the psycho alpha with main villain energy. (Carson? Rot.)

The instant attraction between Jules and Luca could’ve gone cheesy, but NOPE. Ashli said, “Let’s make it sexy, tender, and illegal in 42 supernatural territories.”
And I lived for it.

But this book wasn’t just spicy and chaotic—it was emotionally gripping in a way I didn’t expect. There’s one part (no spoilers) that had me SOBBING. Like, full-body shaking, emotional collapse.
Ashli?? Are you OK?? AM I OK???
I don’t know if I can forgive you… but also I’ll read anything you write forever so 🤷‍♀️

What really made my little black heart explode? The found family vibes.
✨Vamps. Wolves. Humans.✨
ALL coming together to fight for something real. I want to be at the brunch table with this crew. Nicholas? The chaotic, dramatic disaster we all need. (Murder? What murder?)
Demetria? Girl, I have questions, but also—you deserve better.
And Carson? I will launch him into the sun and still demand justice for what he put us through.

Ashli gave us action, lore, longing, blood, betrayal, AND THEN—
THEN
She had the audacity to leave us on THAT CLIFFHANGER??? 😩
Ma’am. You’re bold for that.

Ashli T. Silver, you owe me therapy or an ARC. Maybe both. Because this book has me ready to throw hands and offer my soul just to know what happens next.

Also…
Can someone please give me a full-cast, duet-narrated audiobook? I will sell a kidney. Or both. Take them.

🩸🖤 10/10 would fight a supernatural war for Luca and Jules.
Give me book two yesterday.

Thank you, Ashli T. Silver for gifting me with this ARC!!

This story is a paranormal romance with a vampire FMC and a werewolf MMC that takes place in the modern world among humans in a small coastal town in Maine. The vampires and werewolves are supposed to be enemies so you can imagine the tension with this forbidden love. We have a lot of strong female friendships/girls girls in this story which I absolutely loved! This story is very cute and cozy with some dark aspects. Our romance, main characters, and setting are sweet/cute/cozy/comfy (there's even a coffee shop!) while the villain in this story is dark and commits some pretty dark acts. The author does a great job at making you hate the villain while adoring all of the other characters. We also have some pretty great comic-relief side characters who will make you LOL. This story is for anyone who loves vampires, werewolves, forbidden romance, strong female characters, and found family. There are a couple of open-door spicy scenes but not a lot, and not in great detail, so I think people who do not enjoy spice would still enjoy this story. This book is written in third-person multiple POV, which I really enjoyed! The multiple POVs bring the characters to life and helps connect you to each of them. I was sucked into this story and felt like I was a part of this world. I ate this book up and I cannot wait for book two!!

First off, I'd like to thank Ashli for letting me read this book by giving me an ARC copy! I had a great time with this and give it a solid 4.5⭐️ but I'm rounding it up to 5⭐️

I haven't read many books with multiple POV's, but the way Ashli uses this style is amazing. It really adds depth to not only the plot but the characters as well. Without it being overwhelming or confusing. I was able to picture everything from start to finish. I'd also like to add that the dialogue felt natural and flowed really well. That was something I really liked.

This is a very character driven book. All the characters shine in their own way, given their respective roles for the plot.

If you love an FMC that's feisty AND a badass, Jules is your girl. She's also a centuries old vampire, so that certainly helps.

And then there is Luca, the MMC, who gives off cinnamon roll energy that really adds some balance with Jules. He falls fast and hard for our little forbidden vampire.

Side characters really stand out. They all play a significant role in the story, whether their time spent on the pages are big or small. And if you want a villain to despise, this book has it.

And so as to not give anything away, the epilogue this book has makes me excited to read the next book whenever it comes out!

🩸Forbidden love
🩸Found family
🩸Action
🩸Badass vampire FMC
🩸Cinnamon roll werewolf MMC
🩸He falls first
🩸LGBTQIA and BIPOC characters
🩸Fast paced
🩸Multiple POV's

A supernatural retelling of Romeo and Juliet, "Bane of Hate and Silver" is a fun read for lovers of paranormal romance.

I thought the continually shifting POV sections within chapters worked well, even if sometimes they felt a little short. I always appreciate stories that offer POVs from side characters, because you learn not only how the main storyline is affecting the people around the main characters, you also get to learn more about their histories, pasts, relationships, and motivations without relying too heavily on exposition dumps. As a storytelling method, this worked for me.

But in regards to the two main characters, I really didn't feel much of a spark between them. They went from seeing each other once to a blind date where they barely spoke to each other, and all of a sudden, they were in love. That works for Romeo and Juliet because they were young and dumb, but for a nearly 400-year-old vampire and an 80-year-old werewolf? I'm not against insta-love, but this felt shoehorned it. And I'm not sure how I feel about "little corpse" as a pet name.

There were also several grammatical errors, misspellings, and words being used incorrectly (murderess vs murderous, for example). I know hiring an editor is expensive, but this really could have benefited from a proofreader.

I was lucky to receive this as an arc read! Usually I'm a dark romance girly however I absolutely ate this book up! And paranormal fantasy may just be my new thing!

Jules FMC is a bad ass strong beautiful vampire who protects her coven with all her being.

Luca MMC is the handsome beta werewolf who falls hard and fast for the "enemy"

This was a fast past story of love and found family. Side characters all have a place in the story and all bring something to the story. It is a funny, sometimes sad but absolutely beautiful read!

I'm not a fan of third person writing however once you get into the story you actually barely notice it. Author puts the name of who the paragraph has changed to at the beginning of the sentence so it is easy to follow!

For my first time reading paranormal fantasy I absolutely loved it and can't wait to see where Ashlie t silver takes us to next!

Ends on a slight cliffhanger however doesn't overly effect the main story of Jules and Luca! More gears up ready for the next book!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 start read for me

Vampires ✔️ Wolf Shifters ✔️ Forbidden Love ✔️ Action from page one ✔️

This story does not slow down—it starts with a bang and keeps you hooked until the end.

What I loved most:
✨ The fierce loyalty and love between the FMC and her found family—and how she finds unexpected love where she shouldn’t.
✨ The MMC’s devotion to his own found family.
✨ How both families ultimately accept each other in such a powerful way.
✨ Long-lost relatives, epic battles, and an antagonist you will truly hate.

Ashli T. Silver balances it all—romance, action, humor, and even moments of real sadness—while leaving you desperate for the next book.

This isn’t just a spicy, chaotic paranormal romance. It’s also emotionally gripping, with side characters that bring comic relief and genuinely make you laugh.

A few notes:
💜 Open-door spice, but it’s light and not overly detailed—perfect for both spice lovers and those who prefer less.
💜 Written in third person, multiple POVs—which I loved because it made the characters feel so alive and layered.

If you love vampires, werewolves, forbidden romance, strong heroines, found family, and action-packed plots—this book should be on your TBR!

If there’s a book with vampires, werewolves, suspense, and romance, you’ve already sold me. Add in found family vibes and it’s a recipe for a good read. I don’t know why but reading this felt nostalgic too in a way that’s hard to describe.

Really fast paced from the very beginning, with some of the quick POV transitions throwing me for a loop. Never a dull moment though, and you get to know all the characters.

As someone who loves a good “he fell first” situation, I felt invested in the cinnamon roll MMC. I’m usually a reader that likes a ‘slow burn until book 4’ type of scenario so I was surprised at how much I loved Jules and Luca’s connection unfolding.

There were some areas where another pass on edits would help. Nothing crazy. The plot is still plotting.

I found myself smiling at the banter and quickly flipping my way through the pages to see what happened next. Over the last year, I find myself DNFing more and more, so a book has to keep me hooked, and this one succeeded.

I did receive an arc copy for free and chose to voluntarily share a review.

Thank you, Book sirens and Ashli T. Silver for gifting me with this ARC.
Perfect for any fans of vampires, werewolves, forbidden romance, and a little bit of mystery.
The story centers around Jules the Vampire and Luca the Beta of a wolf pack, but all the characters here create an enthralling ensemble that simply shines and you just find them so enjoyable. (Personally, my favorite is Nick, Jule's twin brother, who often served as comic relief.)
I loved the concept of the world-building and seeing how vampires and werewolves exist in modern society and in the modern world among humans and in some of the creative choices the author makes, such as the blood club. It was easy to get enmeshed and relate to the characters.
Although the writing was far from perfect here with a lot of grammatical errors and some of the pacing and flow felt off at times, this was a very entertaining story overall about a rival group of werewolves and vampires, with characters that are enjoyable and simply come to life. I actually enjoyed the format on how you go from scene by scene with all the characters, which built up to the whole of the story as it all comes together into an exciting finish, making you laugh, cry, and everything else in between.

Wow, I'm not one for supernatural romance but I thought I'd read something a little more interesting than my usual reads. Although this is not a dark romance it does have some darker content, and is certainly is spicy!
This book was so alluring with all of the exciting romance laced throughout. The love between the characters is so sweet but there's definitely some dark characters as well. The book doesn't start slow but it builds speed and intensity with each chapter making it very hard to put dow. Though this is not a comedy the author has a great sense of humor, I found myself laughing out loud at times. The worst part about the book ending was that I felt like all my friends were gone, but something tells me there might be another story to come. And I hope I to get to read an ARC for book two as well!!

Book one of Primordial Inheritance opens with a snippet from the past and jumps right into current times coastal Maine as our FMC Juliana (Jules) is leaping into action. Luca is the Beta of a local wolf pack has not only caught her eye, but is totally lulled in and ready to fight to protect what they’ve found between each other. His alpha, our main villain Carson, is just that, a villain you want to erase! It’s a forbidden romance between a vampire and a werewolf I was rooting for throughout the story. Action and suspense, betrayal, found families, spice that wasn’t over the top, and twists you don’t see coming kept me engaged. An assortment of characters also help drive the narrative of this story in a great way. Excited for what comes next!

In this paranormal romance, a vampire woman and werewolf man from enemy species fall in love in a small coastal Maine town, creating tension amidst darker themes. The story emphasizes female friendships, community, and found family, with a relatable cast and well-developed side characters.

I found this to be a compelling read. The female main character's affection for her found family and her forbidden love are noteworthy elements. The male main character's loyalty to his found family is equally commendable. The mutual acceptance of both found families was a pleasant surprise. The inclusion of long-lost relatives and the epic battle enhanced the narrative. Ashli effectively crafted an antagonist who elicits intense dislike. The story also explores somber themes of sadness.

A Romantasy with all the right ideas. Including a walking dead girl ;) and someone who she should not be interested in. This book has all of the potential but just fell so short IMO. The Author has the right idea on the story line and really kept me interested in what was going to happen but there are a few things that kept me from completely enjoying it.

There are multiple POVS throughout each chapter, and it is hard to stay focused on who is who. The author starts each paragraph out with the name of the person you are following which felt a little odd while reading it.

Also there are a ton of typos and it just felt like it should of been in rough draft mode instead of reading it as an arc Read.

ARC REVIEW

What does it take for two enemies to fall in love? A blind date.
Jules is a vampire who lives peacefully among the people. Luca is a werewolf and the Beta of his pack. He hates vampires until he meets one.

First of all, you should read the trigger warnings. This book is not for young people. Fights, love, and strong friendships. This book has everything. The way that Jules and Luca fought for their love and went against everything that they believed was incredible. They fell in love and they fought so their love could live. And during all this, they had their friends with them. Vampires and werewolves worked together and saved this unique love.

If you love Twilight this may be the book for you! This was a very character driven book that used multiple povs so rha5 the reader could fully grasp what was going on. These women author did an excellent job of making the antagonist clear and the reader had no doubts about them being the “bad guy”. I absolutely loved that the MMC and FMC both had their own “found families”. The FMC Jules is your vampire and the MMC is your werewolf and they fall in love. Every character in this book truly plays a key part in furthering the story and are not just fillers. I am definitely excited to to see what happens next in this series!

Thank you to booksirens and Ashli for the copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own 💜💜

What happens when a vampire and a werewolf come together? A LOT!!!

This book brings vampires, werewolves, and humans together in a modern day setting. I absolutely loved that this was a modern tale.

Our vampire FMC was a headstrong baddy and our werewolf MMC was just the right amount of attitude, dedication and touch her and die that we loved. There are definitely twists and plenty of action in this story.

One minute you're hanging on to the edge of your seat and the next minute you're left with your mouth open because you're still trying to process what just happened. This had just the right amount of romance and spice without overtaking the story.

I would definitely love to read more from this author. I give it four out of five stars.

Disclaimer: I have gone back and forth on how to go about writing this review. Ultimately, I truly believe my experience could have been better under different circumstances. I grabbed this book as an ARC off of BookSirens and the setup with their website was a giant headache from start to finish. Because of this, I basically went into this book annoyed right from the start. I requested the arc be sent to my kindle multiple times but to no avail. Not wanting to miss my deadline I was forced to read the entire book on the website from my tiny phone screen. 😵‍💫 However… that is not the book nor the author’s fault so I am going to do my very best to rate this book strictly based on the text and not my emotional experience while reading it. That being said, I do believe I would have given the writing more grace if it had been an enjoyable reading experience allowing me to actually be immersed within the story.

Actual Book Review:
Ok now that I’m done gripping, let’s get into it. I love a good forbidden romance, make it paranormal, EVEN BETTER. The author’s writing style was easy to fall into. It did come off a tad bit robotic and amateur at times but for the most part it had a nice flow and a consistent pace. Not bad for a debut novel. If it wasn’t for my eyes straining at my phone screen and screaming for me to take breaks I could have easily read this in one sitting. Luca and Juliana had rocking hot chemistry and even though it was on the insta-love side I quite literally could not get enough of them. I will always adore a good found family trope and this book has just that! When found family is done right it is one of the fastest ways to transport me directly into the story and make me forget I’m reading. For these reasons I decided to round up to 4⭐️.

Again, if my reading experience had been different I probably would have rated this much higher. BUT like I mentioned earlier in my disclaimer I was in a bad mood. The flaws in this book annoyed me more than they probably would have if I wasn’t already going into it in a pissy mood. My biggest frustration was with the grammatical errors. Sure, a few can be expected with a ARC but this seemed excessive. I can usually look past this but there’s no way I would feel confident recommending this book in its current state to my reading buddies. It would drive them nuts. Another thing that threw me off at first was the way the chapters and POVs were set up. It took a little getting used to but wasn’t horrible. Annnnd finally, can we pretty please just STOP with the cringy pet names already? I think “little corpse” might just be in my top 3 of worst nicknames of all times. “Jules” was just fine…

I gave this book 4.5 stars. It took me several chapters to get fully into the story but once I did I was locked in. The character building was well done and I loved the relationship between Luca and Jules. This book brought out a lot of emotions for me. Anger, sadness, excitement, grief. That is how I know a book is written well when it gets emotions going all over the place.

The only reason I gave it 4.5 stars is because I was really expecting a little more spice to it. And the majority of the spice kinda happened between 2 people that I didn't care for. But if you like the shifter romance and the rivalry between vampires and werewolves. You will love this book.

From the first chapter, this book draws you in such a pape tuner, making you want to know more and more about the leading dead girl and all that she is. Her strength, passion, and deep love for her chosen family - paranormal or otherwise. And the very real truth is that you can't help when you fall for... The depth of detail of each character, whether it be supporting, wise, lovers, or villain - which this one is definitely one you love to hate - the perfect narcissist that he is as you will find out for yourself. The story totally stands out on its own and leaves you wanting more.
10 out of 10 highly recommend!!!

Werewolves • Vampires • Dark/Violence

While I wasn’t obsessed with the writing style and swapping of POV’s, the story line is entertaining. This is a Dark Romance, highlighting the disdain between werewolves and vampires. Dark highlights include both physical and sexual assault, and violence. The story line is set in modern day Maine, though some beings are ancient. A few members of the vampire coven and the werewolf pack are working towards a mutual coexistence. We have the obvious “bad guys” who are working against this. Overall I felt this book was predictable but I still ate it up, and the epilogue gives us some insight on book two, which I’m excited to read!

Bane of Hate and Silver was a good read, full of supernatural creatures.

I loved the FMC and the MMC and their relationship that defied norms.

The found families and side characters were very good furthering the plot and bringing some comic relief, however I sometimes found the changing POVs confusing until I got the hang of it and then it was mostly fine.

The plot was not overly complex but with enough secrets that left me wanting more so I cannot wait for the next book.

finding common ground

Julia's coven has been in Aboit longer than Carson's pack but for some reason, Carson feels he needs to end the vampires. surprisingly, there are members of the surrounding community that disagree. and perhaps, closer to himself. but it is true, someone out there is slaying a lot of people and it looks like a vampire.

fun, light story line with quality pathos. the leads a equally sympathetic while the background characters are fantastic. and there is just enough smexy!

Bane of Hate and Silver:

* vampire x werewolf romance
* pack vs coven
* multiple POVs
* fast paced and lots of action

If you like books with vampires and werewolves and forbidden romance, you will definitely enjoy this one! I enjoyed seeing the story through different POVs and how all the characters choices reflect in the story. It’s a fast paced read so you won’t be bored! Also the romance was a good mix of sweet and spice in my opinion!

When you hear vampires and werewolves you are probably thinking omg not another Twilight. Well Ashli Silver completely defies expectations! Think more Vampire Diaries than Twilight. But even that doesn’t fully describe the journey you are taken on.

FYI: This is not a slow burn at all. At first I wanted more back and forth between Jules and Luca but now that I’ve read the whole thing I’m glad for how it was written. These two SHINE. They are sweet and adorable and everything I wanted.

The side characters are perfection. Since this story is multi-POV you get all of their thoughts and it read more like Aelin’s court from TOG. Even the friends we meet along the way and that don’t have POVs are an intricate part of the group. Everyone has a place and a purpose.

The last 40% of the book leaves you on edge. You know something bad is coming and going to happen but when it comes it surprises you. There are twists and turns all over the place and you are wondering what will happen next.

That epilogue…. I thought it was going to be one thing and it turned out to be something COMPLETELY different.

There are hints at a tragic past that doesn’t get explained which is clearly going to be in the second book. I had no idea this was going to be a series and I am SO EXCITED that it will be. These characters are amazing and I was so honored to be given an ARC.

Vampire & Werewolves in the backdrop of a coastal town in Maine, yes please! This story is told uniquely through third person and follows a wide cast of characters. I loved the unique touches of Vampire abilities, the found/chosen family, a strong FMC and the forbidden love. This is a feel good story with some dark elements within and low spice. As a debut novel, the author did an amazing job.

Thought the storyline was fantastic very exciting and entertaining. The reason I gave 3 stars was the writing style, no paragraphs and jumped from 1 character to another without your knowledge. If based on just the story it would of been a 5
