I was always the Don’s daughter. Just never part of his family.
Don Moretti acknowledged me. He provided for my mother and me. But I wasn’t brought into the fold until I was sixteen, after his wife died and the old Don could no longer object.
My name is Carolina Moretti. I’m the daughter of the woman my father loved, but not the one he married. I spent half my life outside his world and the rest fighting to prove I belonged in it.
Now he’s asking for the one thing I’m not sure I can give.
Marry Luca Romano. Unite two families soaked in blood. Be the bridge, the offering, the guarantee.
Luca is cold, controlled, and so fine it doesn’t make sense. All sharp suits and sharper instincts. This marriage isn’t about love. It’s about strategy, legacy, survival.
Or it was.
Behind closed doors, Luca sets me on fire. He’s quiet, respectful, and dangerously attentive. He gives without asking. He sees what I need and makes sure I have it.
And I start to believe I could belong somewhere without having to fight for it.
Then I make a choice I can’t take back.
If Luca finds out the truth, I won’t just lose him. I might not survive what comes next.
Her Mafia Husband is a slow-burn, high-stakes dark interracial mafia romance about legacy, loyalty, and what happens when the man trained never to trust falls in love, and that love is threatened by betrayal.
Let me start by saying this was a good story and I liked it overall, but it’s not my favorite of Ms. Caldwell’s books. I went with 4 stars (there any way to leave 3 and a half stars) instead of 5 because I had a some issues with it: first of all, I nearly gave up on finishing this because of the seemingly endless descriptions of Carolina’s business acumen, analytical mind and accomplishments. I understand the need for Ms. Caldwell to show that she wasn’t a hapless victim or eye candy. I appreciate her making known that Luca saw the real Carolina. Secondly, there was the slow burn. I love a good building up to the heat, but this story wasn’t the good kind (mostly because of the previous issue with the endless descriptions I previously mentioned). Finally, I would have liked for them to actually fall deeply in love before the actual conflict that occurred between them. I didn’t really feel it. I also didn’t really feel I got to truly know Luca.
If I see the word "strategy" one more time, I am going to scream. It feels like the Author just finished a business course and learned the word strategy and felt it needed to be used in this book over and over and over again. Besides that, the book was boring. I would not recommend
Carolina More tri never celebrated a Christmas with both parents. She was the daughter that was hidden. Her father Alessandro Moretti could not marry her mother, the black social worker Monica Ellis. Instead, he was forced to agree to an arranged marriage to keep the woman he loved and their child alive. Years later after Carolina became a successful business woman, she found herself agree to an arranged marriage for the benefit of merging two families, the Romanos and the Morettis. But there was a person who was not happy with the power created by the marriage. It's always someone close to you who strays you. Someone you least expect. That is by Carolina had to make that decision that would risk her marriage and her life. She had to have all of her ducks in a row before she made that fateful call. She knew the culture of the mafia families and knew the risk she was taking but she rather see Luca Romano alive a d lose her life to keep him that way than to see him and everyone she loved lose theirs.
With the overwhelming evidence proving the validity of the plot, Luca finally understood what really happened. He never had anyone willing to sacrifice their life so he could live. I think that was when Lucas fell hopelessly in love with his arranged wife. Carolina had already fallen but fell harder that first Christmas together when Luca arrange for her to wake up to er family for the first time.
I went into this book immediately intrigued but literally 60% of the book was about “strategic this and that”. My brain was hurting from reading that word so many times. It was like no emotions from either MC’s so it was hard to see them “fall for each other”. And for the book to only have 200 something pages it was really slow almost too slow like nothing was happening. It was work than home so repetitive. I almost stopped reading but i wanted to see it through but i couldn’t wait to finish i was so disappointed. I don’t think i will read another from this Author.
The story was interesting yet the author used repetitive words throughout storylines about Carolinas business acumen & analytical mind & so much detail, that I at times became bored. I loved Luca & Carolina whom are both strong individuals that supported & complimented each other. This is a slow burn novel with minimal steam. I would’ve liked more heat without pretty wording where I have to read sentences several times to catch meaning. The ending was ok but a little bland. Love the cover which matches character’s description in book.
Arranged Marriage. The book starts fine and interesting. However, later in the book became more about how intelligent Carolina is, instead of a romance novel. I love strong, intelligent characters especially women. But when it takes up pages describing Carolina’s strategic mind. The over use of strategic is written 83 times. Finally, somewhere toward the end, the story becomes more about the couple. It ends good. My first time reading from Mia Caldwell. I suggest reading it yourself to draw your own conclusions.
Carolina and Luca's love story unfolds against the backdrop of a traditional arranged marriage, orchestrated to strengthen their families' business ties. Their narrative is a compelling exploration of duty, familial expectations, and the unexpected emotions that emerge when two individuals are brought together by pragmatic considerations. The tale captivates readers from its opening moments, drawing them into a world where personal desires intersect with familial obligations, creating a rich and nuanced romantic journey that challenges conventional notions of love and partnership.
Loved the story concept. A strong woman, Caroline Morretti, brought up in two worlds, one of correction and one of hold no prisoners. The arrangement of marriage by two families is standard, but Carolina was different.
Luca is from that world, hold no prisoners, his uncle was his mentor, but he wasn't keen on arrangement of marriage for Luca, but he followed his instincts watching Carolina and how she operated her business and her sharp mind/confidence.
Great story and a good ending, could have read more so it didn't end. Recommend reading.
WHEW CHILE’ THIS WAS SUCH A GREAT STORY! I absolutely loved how it unfolded, and how the two main characters came together. It was rushed and their connection was so organic considering the reason for their union! What a wonderful piece of work.❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Loved the main characters, depth, flaws, real emotions. Luca and Carolina are really well matched. Several strong female characters, no weak ladies here. Strong male characters as well. No spoilers.... but More than one fascinating couplevin this book, hope we get to read about the other love story...
For some reason I really love your Mafia stories, there so in depth, you can tell she or he is the other true ride or die. This was so good I can see myself reading this over and over again.
Loved it. The story was really built out without insta love. I also loved the strong female lead, actually all the female characters! Luca was so sweet and strong too!
I didn’t finish this book because I was so bored. Maybe I’ll get back to it another time but I just couldn’t get through it. I usually finish mafia romances quickly because it’s my favorite genre but J couldn’t with this one.
I enjoyed this so much!!! I loved the strong female lead character and how she was unwilling to compromise who she was. I loved the love story and sacrifice of the main characters. This book is definitely a must read. BUT WE NEED A SEQUEL!!
I enjoyed this book and have gone on to read their other books. The story is fast paced, and easy to follow. Great characters that leave you wanting more.
This is an excellent book! I enjoyed it immensely! Their strategic alliance started as an arrangement and progressed to love, sacrifice and forgiveness! A good read!
I love the storyline and how they built their love. She was definitely his queen and she proved it. I would recommend this book if you love Mafia romance
Carolina and Luca both agreed to the arrange marriage, but not all things were cool but they came to love and protect each other and the family business.
The secrets and betrayal were wonderfully put together. Subtle intensity and romance had a nice flow. I would like to see how the older adults progress.
