Coming in July 2023, writing as Willa Reece, WILDWOOD MAGIC from Orbit/Redhook. Were the Ross women really witches? A magical tale about coming home when the only home you’ve ever known is gone. Also be sure to check out the first book set in a mystical mountain wood, WILDWOOD WHISPERS.
For Harlequin Nocturne, I've written as Barbara J. Hancock, a Faustian series featuring men who've sold their souls and the women who save them--Brimstone Seduction, Brimstone Bride, and Brimstone Prince. And a fairytale shifter series featuring three Russian wolf shifters-- Legendary Shifter, Legendary Wolf and Legendary Beast. Also a YA Gothic Thriller for Entangled Publishing. When I'm not writing, I'm the adopted mom to many rescued pets. I live in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia with my soulmate where ghost stories are often told on a dark side porch in the flicker of firefly light.

I bought this last night because I was in the mood for something short and the premise intrigued me. Of course, once I started reading it and I realized that a character that doesn't speak might lead to loads of description, which is something I have a hard time following. OOPS.

But, really, that wasn't too much of a problem and I liked this. It's really short (Amazon listed it as 21 page pages), but I think that was the perfect length for this story because it's not asking me to believe in anything more besides a hot weekend between two strangers (and it was hot). It's almost a fantasy, really, or wish-fulfillment. (I meant that in a good way.) And, of course, I'm free to believe in more if I want to! But my brain didn't have to deal with questions of "What happens next?" or "Do I really believe they're going to be happy forever?", which can trip me up with vacation love stories.

So, overall, good times!

Read like a play-by-play of a couple of sex scenes. She told me what was going on, but neglected to show me why I should find this interesting. Totally flat, emotionally.

The storyline was interesting. Only downfall is that it was short, like 28 pages short. Other than that it was pretty steamy read.
