This book is an insightful read and must-have tool for any Christ follower! Rebecca connects scripture so thoughtfully to key concepts in the mental health space. As I was reading, I felt like I was looking back on extremely thorough notes I never took (but should have!) during therapy.

Two things: hang in there during the first few chapters - it gets really good at chapter 4! And have a pen nearby to underline the many amazing thoughts she shares!

SHORT&SWEET

•Read with sister (her counselor is the author and Pastor Joby of Eleven22 reads the introduction)
•Some great points: Have a deep “taproot”, and start your daily routine with God’s word, a gratitude journal, and/or meditation.
•The book has a lot of solid information about the brain and how it works
•Chapter 7 was superior
•A few great quotes:
““Change and transformation isn’t something we seek out unless we have a distinct need or pain point”
“A mind set on the Lord is a mind set on peace”
“God isn’t afraid to use hard things to draw you closer to Him and show you how deeply you can trust Him.”
“It doesn’t matter who we were before me met Jesus”
“He (God) ought to be the loudest voice in our lives, telling us who we are”
“Fear sees a threat, anxiety imagines one”

Jesus and Your Mental Health invites readers to explore the complexity of anxiety, depression, and trauma through both a clinical and spiritual lens, without shame or oversimplification.

As a therapist and believer, I deeply appreciated Rebecca’s integration of Scripture with neuroscience and practical exercises. Each chapter feels like a compassionate counseling session — rooted in truth, attuned to emotion, and always circling back to hope. Her voice is gentle but grounded, challenging readers to face their pain with grace and curiosity rather than guilt.

Whether you’re a professional in mental health or simply someone trying to reconcile faith with the realities of emotional struggle, this book offers comfort, insight, and a clear path toward healing.

Rebecca has created more than a resource — she’s offered a ministry of presence in written form. We just completed a 12 week book study on this book and so many found cathartic movement.
