Holly lives in a little white cottage by the sea. She studied media at university which led to a very glitzy career as a hotel receptionist followed by a even more glamorous two years working in a bank. The moment that one of her colleagues received the much coveted carriage clock for fifteen years’ service was the moment when she knew she had to escape. She quit her job and returned to university to train to be a teacher. Three years later, she emerged wide eyed and terrified that she now had responsibility for the development of thirty young minds. She taught for four years and then escaped the classroom to teach history workshops, dressing up as a Viking one day and an Egyptian High Priestess the next. But the long journeys around the UK and many hours sat on the M25 gave her a lot of time to plan out her stories and she now writes full time, doing what she loves.

The House on Waterfall Hill is everything I love about Holly Martin’s books - heartwarming, romantic, with twists and turns along the way. The characters feel like old friends and their chemistry sparkles on the page. Holly’s writing has a magical way of balancing laugh-out-loud moments with deeper emotions, and this story is no exception. It’s a beautiful reminder of second chances, the importance of home, and the kind of love that feels destined. If you’re looking for a cozy, uplifting read that will leave you smiling long after the last page, The House on Waterfall Hill is an absolute must-read.
This is probably the third book I've attempted by this author. the stories and the vibes always draw me to her books, but then I start and quickly remember why I have up the previous time. My problem is with the writing. It feels very repetitive and every minor point is elaborated on. Like him not.beingna vain person: it's stated clearly, and then straight after it's repeated 3-4 times just worded a little differently. My other issue is the overly sweet and instant attraction between the characters that totally go against their usual way of behaving. It also feels way too good to be true how quickly they open up to each other, within minutes of meeting. I get that this can happen, but this has been the case for all the book I've attempted by this author.
So, this was my last attempt.I wish I could just ignore these things and enjoy the ride, but I can't. I was looking for some Jessica Redland and Heidi Swain -vibes. And the good vibes are definitely there, but the writing doesn't work for me. I do, however, recognize that the more I've read, the pickier I've become. So for other's wanting a feel-good, escapism book, this might be just the thing for you
also, I'll not be rating this, as I think it's unfair to do so without having read all of it.
Do I really need to say more? I mean it's a Holly Martin book, it has a wonderful grand romantic gesture that she is so fabulous at writing, there is great humour, great sex, and two wonderful main characters.
And it has a brilliant new setting, and I absolutely loved reasoning behind why the art studios that Flick has been asked to try to save, were set up in the first place.
Luke is a bit nerdy, but there is something always rather attractive about a nerd, especially if they have similar interested to you, and the tongue tied nature he has around Flick, along with their memorable first meeting, and various awkward early conversations are just so sweet and adorable and made me love both characters all the more for it.
I really enjoyed the various crafts that were being displayed in the studio and watching Luke run a workshop made me fall for him even more.
This is an all around lovely easy read, that is Holly Martin at her finest.
Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily
Got about halfway and stopped reading. I dont like this book for a few reasons - the concept is unoriginal, I’ve read books that have the same concept and are much better - there is no conflict/challenge. The main characters issues are over-exaggerated. She gets everything she wants. The love interest is really rich so all money problems are solved. - The romance is stupid- both have pathetic excuses for not wanting to get together. Both are extremely (annoyingly) insecure. They fall in love at first sight which i always hate. And theyre both willing to talk to anyone about how much they fancy each other which people are normally reserved about in real life - the characters are stupid. The main 2 are so unlikeable, their only flaws seem to be that they are wet wipes and insecure. They are also sickly sweet. All the other characters are boring stereotypes.
I dont dislike this book because its a silly beach read romance- those are often some of my fav light reads. This one reads like a fanfiction written by a child
I love a Holly Martin book, and I’m sure I say this every time, but this one might just be my favourite.
Flick is returning to Lovegrove Bay, the scene of her childhood summers with her grandparents. She is heading for Waterfall House the where her grandmother has tasked her with turning the finances around on the art studios that her grandfather had set up there before she faces having to sell it. With the help of one of the artists and her new flatmate, Luke, Flick is determined to save the house that gave so much to her but also to many others. There is an instant connection between Flick and Luke but he is leaving soon, so can Flick save the house and save her heart.
Flick and Luke are such lovable characters, and there is an instant connection between them. It’s obvious from the start that Luke is hiding something about his past but he tries to use this for good and help the art studios and Flick discover her own dream.
The setting of Waterfall House and art studios felt like a character in itself. The concept of the workshop and studios is such a lovely idea and I loved hearing about the different crafts that the artists showcased.
And as usual a gorgeous cover.
A heart-warming, feel-good romance that you need to make sure you add this to your summer TBR.
Another fantastic story from Holly Martin that I didn't want to put down! It's a cozy, sweet, and entertaining read with an unforgettable meet cute. I loved Flick and Luke so much as they worked together to save the house and art studios.
The story flowed nicely and I was drawn in by the small town setting, chemistry between Flick and Luke, and the great balance between the humor, drama, and romance that drive the plot.
Holly is one of my favorite authors and I loved this book so much. I highly recommend picking it up!
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Another heartwarming, feel good read from Holly Martin. When Flick turns to Lovegrove to try and save her nan's failing artist studios, she doesn't expect to meet Luke, a wood carver, sharing the flat above the studios with her. Having both had failed relationships before, can they give into their hearts and learn to live again? A feel good read as Flick battles to save the studios, the wonky tree and restart her granddad's legacy of workshops from people with brain injuries. A great story, with fabulous characters, I could not put it down!
I loved this book. I think it could be a new favourite of mine by Holly. I enjoyed the characters of Flick and Luke. I found the twist about Luke a surprise. I found Flicks determination great to read as well.
I enjoyed this little love story, following Flick and Luke as they try to save her grandfather's dream, while trying not to fall in love. I'll need to read more from Holly Martin!
Charming But Rushed Read | The House on Waterfall Hill is a light, feel-good romance perfect for a cozy afternoon. However, the rushed ending and lack of deeper plot development left it feeling incomplete. With more story depth, it could’ve been truly memorable. Still, a sweet, easy read overall.
A great book,I loved the small craft units, the entrepreneurs, the house and the workshops ethics and the two main characters. Thoroughly enjoyed and straight into the authors next. I hope we hear more about the wonky tree studios

The start of a brand new series of books by this author set in Lovegrove Bay - a seaside town. The story follows Flick trying to save the art studios set up by her grandfather and her hunky flat mate Luke.
What a deliciously sweet tale set in another gorgeous fictional town from the mind of Holly Martin!! She never disappoints. Flick and Luke were so well suited and I’m so glad they got their HEA!
A wonderful story with much warmth and joy. One of those cosy books that you can curl up in the corner of the sofa with on a rainy day. Afterwards you have a smile on your face.
The ending felt like it happened on the last page with no explanation. It did round off the story but felt sudden given the entire book had been leading to that moment
Yet another wonderful read from Holly, she never fails! The new settings and characters were spot on, and the writing made me feel like I was right there with them. Maybe I’ll get to return to Waterfall Hill in my dreams, if I’m lucky enough
