Freddy was going to die.

Again, technically.
Freddy was going to die for the second (and hopefully final) time. It was his own fault, really. He just didn’t feel right being a blood-sucking monster of the night, he had spent long enough trying not to be a complete piece of shit human (to very little success).
That was his punishment: he had been a bad, bad boy for twenty two years and now after failing to hunt for the entirety of his vampire-hood he was going to starve.

Unless a mouth-watering therapist could give him the discipline he’s been missing?

Amelia needed a new couch.

She was a respected clinical psychologist with a thriving practice specializing in the troubles of supernatural creatures. The couch her clients sat on had to be in perfect condition, because something had to be. Her mind was unreliable, the deep churning chaos suppressed only by strict personal rules.

Don’t work past insurable hours.
Don’t answer the door for a handsome stranger.
Don’t fall in love with a vampire.

I very much enjoyed this story of a vampire who doesn’t hunt and the therapist who helps him to believe in himself. She definitely has a strange therapy center, tearing the paranormal and humans alike, this story is fun and sexy the spice is on point and the story keeps you reading. Loved it and totally recommend this for fantasy and dark romance loves I do think that even a mystery reader would enjoy this read. Check it out!!

Fun read! Super funny and relatable and quirky! Loved the dynamics between the MC and the love interest. So good to see mature conversations and growth and personal development throughout the story. 5/5 read and will definetly read more by this author!

I adore this author.
I've read her Prince series with Mary and George and highly recommend it.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy and I truly enjoyed reading it so very much.
I caught covid at the start of May and had a very slow reading month as a result.
This helped me break out of my reading slump.
I love the characters.
I love their world.
I love the way information is shared - I thought I knew what was going on.
I was wrong.
I was wrong more than once.
But always in a deliciously surprising way.

Did I cry?
Yes.
Yes, I did.

10 out of 10 - Highly Recommend!

Blinking slowly at the acknowledgement section, wracking my brain to try and figure out if there were vampires in this book…

Bloody Mess is exactly what the title promises—a hilarious, horny, heartfelt trainwreck of a supernatural romance that somehow works. Amelia is a neurodivergent therapist for magical beings (think goblins, golems, harpies with roommate drama), and Freddy is a self-loathing vampire who can’t bring himself to bite anyone… until he meets her.

Their chemistry is not slow-burn. It’s an immediate, chaotic detonation of trauma bonding, kink, and inappropriate workplace tension—and it’s glorious. The banter snaps, the emotional depth hits hard, and the sex vibes start pulsing by chapter two.

There are several typos and missing words, and I was left wishing for more clarity on the world’s magic system—it felt like a weird-but-fun sandbox with no map. But the functional-dysfunctional cast completely stole my heart.

Messy, magnetic, and unfiltered.

I thought this book was going to be light and fun, not also a deep dive into abandonment issues. It's not what I wanted, but it is definitely what I needed. The fear of making mistakes and the fear of losing control hit a little too close to home and had me doing a lot more self reflecting than I expected from what was otherwise a smutty romcom. The author did a great job with the witty banter and comedic relief to balance out what was otherwise a very heavy subject.

My only issue with the book was that the ending felt really rushed. It wasn't until the 85-90% mark that we finally started getting answers and even then, they weren't full explanations. I would've preferred another chapter to really finish out the story and to give me a little more time with Freddy and Amelia's HEA.

Thank you to BookSirens and S Nasonov for the free eARC.

First I would like to thank the author for sending me this book, thank you so much!

This is my favourite book of the year so far and will stay one of my favourites, not just for this year but for life!
I loved this book, it’s so good and everyone needs to read it, I was hooked from the first page.
The characters are amazing and they actually feel like real people and I loved that they had actual conversations about their problems like adults.
The plot was fantastic!, I knew when I read the synopsis of this book that I was going to like it but the story was even better then I expected and took my emotions on a ride, I laughed, I cried (multiple times).
The writing was great too, I love the authors writing style, just the way they write and tell the story just makes it feel like you are right there with the characters.
If you are thinking about reading this book I highly recommend!

This seemed like the perfect type of book for me, but sadly I had to DNF. Something about the writing style struck me the wrong way, and I just could not force myself to get through it. I'm glad to see others enjoyed it, it just was not for me.

3.75/5 ⭐️ Worth the round up!

The idea of a vampire needing therapy to do vampire-like things is hilarious. This book is clever and witty and I devoured it on concept alone. It fell a little flat for me with the plot feeling choppy and disconnected. However, this book was entertaining and had me rooting for the vampire to get his fangs together. His therapist is a hot mess herself and I love it when the one needing rescuing helps rescue the rescuer right back. I also loved the other couples that needed therapy. There was a lot of humor there and I wanted more odd couples. I would recommend this book to my newer friends to the dark side of romantasy as the humor lends a lightness amongst the heavy topics within the pages. Plus, the spice was nice!

I’m gonna start off with I love this authors writing. Not only is it quirky and fun, she always has me starting a book of hers and reading it through in a day. This one, however, took 3–ONLY because I have a million things going on.

Amelia is a magicless, neurotic caster and a psychologist to the paranormal. Her days are filled with the same monotonous rules and chores, but not because she doesn’t want them. No, Amelia wants to control every aspect of her life for fear of losing control. She even schedules her weekly masturbation. (Which I found devilishly hilarious.)

Freddy is a vampire with no bite. Not because he doesn’t have the teeth but because he can’t perform when in the act, not the act of sex, you see, the act of biting. When his maker turns him away from the bar his is employed at for drinking the stash of bagged blood, he ends up on Amelia’s office doorstep—past her billable, clinical hours.

With Amelia unable to see the broken vampire in a professional setting at the current hour of the day—because billable hours, duh—she sees him as a friend.

Well, if friends have bossy sex for an entire weekend to force the fangs from said broken vampire.

But it leaves her physically sick after their rendezvous. Now they must find why she’s sick and unravel the building lies that come to light as they investigate all the plausible reasons she’s ailing.
