Talitha’s epic journey began treacherously. Her Nana’s death and parents’ divorce triggered anxiety and depression that drove her to seek out men who had a numbing effect upon her conscience. Jesus intervened. However, after she failed to attract the interest of her brothers in Christ, she fell back into pursuing ungodly men who only wanted to take advantage of her.
Yet, by this point, she had connected with several godly women who were not afraid to confront her on her choice to pursue such men. Elise, her spiritual mother, and Victoria, her best friend, were two such women. However, Victoria had a gentle disposition whereas, at times, Elise spoke with an overbearing intensity.
Tally longed to marry a godly man, but even with the assurances she continually received from Jesus, she wasn’t sure whether a godly man would pursue her. She decided to try dating. Elise didn’t understand why she wasn’t content with singleness, but Talitha’s desire for marriage was like a driving rain. The only way she could find out if it would be met was by facing her childhood pain.
