Summer's Fae: Fated Mates Romance

Rate this book
One day I’m rescuing a wounded wolf in the woods. Next, I’m tripping over a naked guy in my kitchen, casually making coffee like we’re roommates on a sitcom.

He claims to be the wolf I rescued and somehow… also a fae prince. Excuse me, what?

Oh, and apparently, I once spent a year in Faery, dancing under moonlight like some enchanted puppet. So, yeah. He’s totally delusional.

Now I’ve got an overly protective houseguest who looks at me like I’m dinner but insists he can’t touch me. Won’t touch me because of a Very Important Vow he made to his sister. Seriously?

And just when things are heating up between us, the ruthless leader of the Wild Hunt shows up to drag me back to Faery. Cue the angsty chaos. And me falling for the wolfish fae prince who'd literally bury himself alive for seven nights to save me.

“You and me? We’re everything I was told I could never have. I belong to you, Summer. I’ll crumble your realm and mine to dust before I let anyone come between us. Wherever you go, I’ll find you. Always. I think what that makes us is forever.”

I don’t have much to say about this book . The plot didn’t really made me interested. I wasn’t connected to the characters . This book definitely had potential at first but then I felt like I didn’t care about what’s happening.

DNF after 50%

The writing is fine and the story has potential (it's giving more wolf shifter than fae vibes including the knotting).

My problem was the insta-love/insta-lust. Wynter is just in love with Summer because she's his mate and she's just in lust with him because he's so good looking. I didn't feel any deeper connection between the two, maybe it happens in the second half, but I prefer to feel an emotional connection between the MCs before I reach the middle of a novel. Additionally Summer doesn't act like someone who's in their mid twenties, in some scenes the was literally so dumb (TSTL) I could only roll my eyes.

Summer’s Fae by Juno Heart is an absolute delight. If you love a steamy fae fantasy with forbidden love, pining, dark humor, and a hero who’s somehow both growly and a total cinnamon roll, this one’s for you.

I adored Wynter—he’s protective, loyal, and his tortured restraint just made me love him even more. The banter between him and the Summer is perfection, truly laugh-out-loud hilarious, and I couldn’t get enough of it. Watching her deal with seeing ghosts, mysterious gaps in her memory, and trying to piece together her parents’ murders—all while trying (and failing) not to fall for Wynter—made for such a compelling, fun story.

There’s also an inconvenient prophecy, the Wild Hunt, a past she can’t remember that won’t stop haunting her, and Wynter determined to keep his Very Important Vow. Meanwhile, she’s determined to tempt him into breaking it. The tension and slow-burn is everything.

This book is a playful, sexy ride that still manages to tug at your heartstrings. I was grinning, sighing, and fanning myself, sometimes all at once. Juno Heart knows exactly how to balance humor, spice, and tender moments.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fae romance with clever banter, ghosts, star-crossed yearning, and the perfect blend of dark and swoony.

Summer and Wynter - How have I only just realised both their names are seasons ?

I was lucky enough to be sent the arc for this book by the author; having read all her other books.

Oh my Dana …. I loved it. I’m totally smitten for Wynter now and need him naked , cooking in my kitchen !!

If you like the following tropes :-
- fated mates , forbidden love, second chances, banter, alternate realm romance, and a healthy amount of smut then this is the book for you.

Shifters, fae, villains, magic, ghosts…. Who could ask for anything more? Now I need the second one out asap so I know what happens next !!! Dare I say it’s my favourite book so far by this author ?

Now, is the second book going to feature Spring and Autumn ?? 😂😂😂

Well done Juno. It’s a fucking fantastic read !!!

If you love fae romance this is the book for you! Even with some darker elements I found myself laughing at the snarky humor doled out by the FMC, Summer. She was strong, resilient and not afraid to say exactly what she wanted to, even when she had been kidnapped. Again. Summer can see the dead and had been taken by the Shadow Court to fulfill a prophecy. The MMC, Wynter, is written as a sweet, sexy, do anything to take care of his woman type of fae. When Wyn is in the Earth realm he is cutely unaware of certain human cultural practices with hilarious consequences. Funny, in many of the scenes with Wyn he ends up naked.

The world building was unique, with each realm matching the fae that inhabited them. When in the Shadow realm the gloomy world made you feel how oppressive the land was. Summer and Wyn are written with great chemistry, even when she does not remember him or believe he is a fae werewolf. The spicy scenes are swoon worthy yet have levity when a head gets banged or a shin gets hit making them more believable and relatable.

Summer is also dealing with past trauma of her parents death and her anxiety is brought up. It was refreshing to read how Summer admitted her weakness yet did not allow it to rule her or her life, even when she was unable to obtain her meds.

Wyn is under a vow to not go after Summer, but the forbidden nature of their mate bond is a hard pull for him. Therefore he's willing to do anything to make it official.

This ends with a set up for the next book featuring Summer's roommate, Zylah and the fae that kidnapped her, Landolin. This was a fun, easy book to read that became hard to put down until I was done. I look forward to reading the next one! I am grateful to the author for the ARC and am more than happy to be leaving a review of this entertaining book.

Book 1 of the series of what I believe will be interconnected stand alones, since the MC’s story wraps up in this one but sets up the next couple nicely.

When she was 17, Summer lost a whole year of his life and memories. It was right away her parents were murdered, but she doesn’t know by who, even if it was herself. Fast forward 8 years, and she’s still trying to piece together that time period. She knows she’s strange and different. She can see ghosts in her inherited family home and feels connection to the earth around her. Even strange enough that when a big black wolf shows up watching her one day, she’s not even afraid. She’s drawn to the wolf. When one day that wolf ends up being a naked guy in her kitchen making coffee! He’s not human, but rather fae, and has come seeking her back after her year spent in the Fae Realm.

There are forces after Summer and Wynter will do anything to protect her. Travel and sacrifice himself if needed. Summer isn’t afraid and is even intrigued by him and how he’s a wolf shifter. When those who come to find her to a lift a curse they believe she’s key to, she’ll do anything to save Wyn and keep him out of it. But Wyn has his own curse to battle with. Will Summer be the key to one, both, or neither of these curses?

We have a couple scenes of spice in here 🌶️ along with one of my newer favorite tropes of knotting 😝 don’t know why, but it’s just become a favorite of mine lol. This is a very fast paced story and the romance is very fast too in a sense that the characters have instant attraction to another. That doesn’t mean the spice is instant though! I call it more medium burn.

Again, while Wyn and Summer’s story wraps up in this book, it sets itself up for the next couple’s book nicely. I will definitely be continuing on reading it! 😊

Summer’s Fae is a spellbinding fantasy romance with intricate world building and a comprehensive storyline that kept me engaged from beginning to end! This is a standalone novel in this author’s new Gravenshade Vows series featuring two very likable characters that are sure to capture your heart.

Wynter is a strikingly handsome Fae Prince with a with protective streak when it comes to Summer. Bound by a curse destined to destroy him, a happily ever after is uncertain. Summer is a breath of fresh air! A woman in the human realm, she has endured more than most people and yet maintains a positive attitude. They seem like an unlikely pair - a wolf shifter fae prince and a human female with missing memories and yet, they both complete each other. A relationship between the two of them is forbidden for many reasons, but they are drawn towards each other like two magnets.

With a quirky roommate, a formidable Fae enemy, a deadly curse, and haunting ghosts, Wynter and Summer are on a remarkable journey that will test their strength and love. I enjoyed seeing how their story evolved and was vastly entertained by the dark humor and witty banter (especially from Summer) that was interpreted throughout the book. Full of action, intrigue, witty banter, and romance, Summer’s Fae is perfect for those who love fantasy romances. This author beautifully sets up the next book featuring two of the secondary characters from this novel. . . a book that I cannot wait to get my hands on!

This is such a fun and well written read, my first time reading anything by Juno Heart! The story has fae, shifters, ghostly housemates, The Wild Hunt, Irish lore, and much more.

Summer (not her real name) is living an interesting life after having gone missing for a year and a day when she was 17. The plot thickens when you find out that the night she went missing, 8 years ago, was the same night that her parents were brutally murdered in the family home.

She is back and living in the family home, with bestie Zylah, and working as a gardener, something that connects her with the earth. She has no memory of that terrible night or the time when she was missing. And to add to the mystery, her mother’s ghost is still hanging around the home nitpicking her and giving unsolicited advice, unable to move on from the tragedy. Summer is still in contact with the detective on the case but has no new leads.

I loved the ghost whisperer aspect and how Summer can connect with spirits throughout her neighborhood and town. Very interesting and kind of speaks to the fact that she may not be a normal human.

We very quickly meet Wynter, Seelie Prince, who has crossed into the mortal world to watch over his Summer girl, who he met during her time that she was missing. We find out that she had been taken by the Wild Hunt and was a thrall who danced and danced for the time that she was gone. Wynter’s sister, and Unseelie queen had found out about Summer and rescued her, which is when Wyn had met her. He instantly had known that she was his fated mate but could not pursue much with her other than protecting her due to a curse that had been put on him.

There is a lot to keep up with in this story but the world building is great and explains things along the way. The dialogue is funny and banter between the two is lively. There was a True Blood (Alcide specific) reference that I loved!!

All in all a great read full of mystery, fae court politics, romance, and fun!

Summer’s Fae is an immersive fantasy romance that sweeps you into a vividly imagined world where curses carry teeth, ghosts whisper secrets, and forbidden love burns brighter than fate itself.

Wynter is a Fae prince cursed by destiny, haunted by shadows both literal and metaphorical. Regal, brooding, and fiercely protective, he’s the kind of tortured hero readers will fall hard for. Summer, on the other hand, is a bright spark in the darkness—a human woman scarred by her past yet resilient, compassionate, and hilariously sharp. Despite missing memories and the painful pieces of her history, she’s full of light, and it’s that light that draws Wynter like a moth to flame.

Their relationship is forbidden—by magic, politics, and prophecy—but none of that can stop the inevitable pull between them. Their bond is equal parts tender and electric, forged through danger, loss, and undeniable chemistry.

If Cruel Prince and a cinnamon roll MMC with a growly attitude had a love child, it would be Summer’s Fae. 💀🌸

This book gave me:
🗡️ Sharp banter
🐺 Wolf shifting
👻 Ghostly housemates
💘 A pining, protective MMC who’s basically sunshine for one person only (you know the type)
😈 And just the right sprinkle of dark humour

Our cinnamon roll MMC falls hard and fast, and honestly? I would let him ruin my day and then thank him for it. He’s grumpy to the world but soft for the FMC, and it’s exactly the energy I crave in a fantasy romance.

There’s magic, mayhem, murder-y fae politics, and enough yearning to keep your heart in a chokehold. Fans of Holly Black will feel right at home in this world, but Juno Heart keeps the vibe more laid-back and banter-fueled — less court intrigue, more chaotic flirtation and emotional devastation.

✨ Recommended for:
✔️ Fae lovers
✔️ Banter addicts
✔️ People who like their romance with claws, secrets, and cinnamon spice.

Summer’s Fae is book one of the author’s Gravenshade Vows series and an entertaining Fantasy romance of Fae and Human forbidden love entwined in a story powered with magic, intrigue, danger, violence, prophecy, and family dynamics.
The story of Wynter, Prince of Faery and Human Summer is a nicely written adventure that sparkles with well crafted characters in a perfectly paced narrative of drama, wonder, and spice.
I have always enjoyed this author’s stories and this newest was another engaging read of fated mates and the path they must take, and the obstacles needed to be overcome in order to reach their final HEA.

Everything I've read by Juno Heart has been amazing, and this story is no different. I absolutely LOVED this book and I am so excited for the next book, for Zylah's story. I loved everything about this: the plot, the characters, the banter, the fated mates trope. The inclusion of characters from past works gave me that happy nostalgia feeling (but isn't necessary to have read them to make sense of the story). Our FMC, Summer is a baddie with memory loss. She faces things head on as she goes through life, and this plot. Definitely highly recommend this book, as well as Juno's other works!

The first book in the Gravenshade Vows series, Summers Fae. Fated mates, humorous banter and inner dialogue from an amazing FMC, the Wild Hunt, and fae! Oh, my! Wynter and Summer have igniting chemistry you can feel bleeding from the pages. Did the blurb description of a naked shifter making coffee reel me in? Yes, yes it did and I am not ashamed!! Can’t wait to read about our next couple, Landolin and Zylah.

meh it was underwhelming

The story was really underwhelming. The beginning was really slow and a slogged through a lot of monotonous daily tasks with mmc in his wolf and eventually human form. Honestly there wasn’t much pining over each other.. then their first spice scene just seemed to lack chemistry and be bland. I’m not sure why but the writing in this book didn’t have me interested or invested. Did I finish the whole book.. yes I did because I wanted to judge it fairly. Will I read the rest of the series no.

Romantasy with a good cross section of humour, action & where the human and paranormal worlds overlap.

So we were introduced to Wynter & Summer's Characters in the Black Blood Fae Book 3 The King of Merritt's. Where Summer was a bewitched human girl that was caught perilously enchanted in a endless dance in a vicious fae court.

Wynter Ashton Fionbharr, Prince of Earth
Impulsive, unpredictable, cocky over confident & very devious shit stirrer. Now very fixated to find her, and when he discovers her again, creates a very possessive & protective alpha male. LOL he Arrives all hot.sexy. very muscular. All nekkid & our Summer's well....she doesn't remember him.Thinks he might be 😜🤪 little crazy.

Wynter is a halfling with Shifter abilities , his powers are almost as strong as a fullblooded fae, Wyn in the past had always refused to do anything that might make him appear less fae and more human. So I enjoyed his fish out water moments on earth on elements he never thought to know from his mother Lara and on past trips this world.

I really enjoyed that Wynter is straddling both worlds in protection of her - and his determination to make her fall in love.

As an aside on rereading the epilogue of book 3 I did LOL when Wyn thought their relationship together would only be "As it should be—a faery prince and his human pet." Well Wynter you got your HEA and no pet.

Summer has no memory of her time in the Land of Five and is acerbic, tough and seemingly unflappable towards Wyn- so theres alot of banter. I love how her friend gives Wyn a hard time, over turning up naked and declaring he was shifter and but unable shift to prove it. Add that Summer has the amazing ability to interact with ghosts of past, these interactions where just as intriguing and amusing.

The characters are well defined, and there are enough twists and turns in the plot to keep you guessing.

You dont need to read the previous series to enjoy this new series. But it is now available also in Audio Book.

Now the Author has built on this world with another next gen book, Id love to see a Character Tree.

For those continuing on from the Black Blood Fae series this is NA with on page spice.

can't wait for book 2's couple Zylah & Landolin's.

After a bit of a slow start, the rest of the book took me by surprise and made me appreciate the creeping beginning. Summer's character was intriguing, but so was the kids of get memories. Wyn was... perfect. Cute, sweet with dimples, and the way he stopped at nothing to get his beautiful Summer was enough to melt any girls heart. And although their story has come to a close, I can't wait to get glimpses of the two in Zylah and Landolin's story.

🐺“And every time she looks at me like I’m not a monster, I come dangerously close to forgetting that I am.”

One of my favorite things about Heart’s characters, even when they are magical beings, there is always part of each of them that is relatable to the reader. For this book, Summer and Wynter both have insecurities. Summer has never quite fit in and is tortured by past events and family drama. Wynter fights his heart’s desires because it goes against his family’s wishes. Who can’t relate to that?!

💖”Don’t worry, my love. You are safe. You are loved.”

I love the lake scene where Wyn and Summer embrace. Wyn giving in just a little, both so comforted by the other, prompting Wyn to say the words quoted above. Everyone deserves to hear those words spoken to them. Gah!

🌻”You're the only thing that matters…you in my arms…I’d give up everything to keep you here where you belong, Little Sun, Everything.”

This book is part of the Black Blood Fae series, book one being Prince of Never, and book two King of Merits. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

This book was totally just for vibes — and I was here for it. Nothing too deep or intense, but still a really fun and entertaining read. The story was interesting, the romance was good, and it kept me engaged the whole way through.

It’s the kind of book you can pick up when you want something quick, easy, and enjoyable, with just enough magic and heart to keep things interesting. Nothing crazy — just good vibes and a good time. ✨
