My short review of each story in the anthology (slight spoilers):

Story 1 'Kissing Trails: A Sapphic Citrus Cove Short Story' by Clio Evans
This story follows a sexy one-night, second-chance encounter told through the dual perspectives of Alice and Jenna - exes who just can’t seem to stay away from each other. The story is predominantly spicy🌶 with some BDSM and some seriously hot dirty talk (including a very effective 'good girl' 🫦). It’s unhibited sapphic passion that sets the tone perfectly for the anthology. There are also subtle hints woven through the narrative suggesting a much larger story - possibly veering into horror and messy angst - that I’d love to read more of.

Story 2 'Death's Songbird" by L.R. Friedman
This is a beautifully written, dark sapphic retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale 'The Nightingale' 🐦 We’re introduced to an enigmatic first-person narrator who has been abandoned in a forest and grows up in solitude. We soon learn the voice belongs to Lyric, a character whose singing is so mesmerising, it's desired by all.
Once Lyric is captured, I loved the irony of a character meant to be worshipped and adored, yet finding that kind of reverence lacking in depth or sincerity 💔 There’s further irony when Lyric ultimately finds true pleasure, peace, and understanding with the one person they've resisted their whole life ❤️
The story is rich with vivid imagery and characterisation and I found this sapphic tale of two fated lovers (one a ‘shadow mommy’, which must be American because 'shadow mummy' doesn't look right) very romantic and very sexy 🔥🌶!

Story 3 'Just a Kiss' by Mikayla Hornedo
A self-confessed "messy and hot" tale in the fantasy genre, this story blends witches, vampires, and an arranged marriage between the two. Told through the sarcastic, rebellious voice of Dayanara, a witch who couldn’t be less thrilled about her upcoming wedding - the narrative sparkles with mischief and humour. Yet amid the chaos, there’s a tender moment of quiet beauty: a romantic snapshot of Dayanara gazing at the stars with Zuri, the woman assigned to look after her, and someone she finds impossible to resist 🔥
I noticed the tone subtly shifts during their brief encounter, allowing space for softness, magic, and vulnerability to shine through. It feels like a celebration of queer joy - those fleeting but beautiful moments when you’re with someone who makes you feel happy, at peace, and wholly yourself ❤️

Story 4 'A Hankering for Harnesses: A Petalfall Story' by Dalia Davies
This is a sapphic fantasy story, and the only hint the author gave about it online was: “sexy stick bugs” - which made me suddenly appreciate just how wonderfully diverse the tales in this anthology are. Being story number four, I genuinely feel as though I’m travelling through a sapphic multiverse. Here, we follow the dual perspectives of Tana and Fyrn - a Centaur and a Dryad (part human, part horse; and an oak tree nymph) - as Tana, having retired, embarks on a quest to find her true love. This isn’t a genre I usually read, but the beauty of this anthology is how effortlessly it swept me up in a romantic sapphic tale about freedom, resistance, falling in love, and defying ‘the rules.’ I particularly enjoyed Fyrn’s “mine” energy, the playful flirting, the warm acceptance of ageing, and the steamy 🌶 featuring light bondage between two characters who have been longing for each other for so long, they're starving 🔥❤️

Story 5 'A Weekend in Sorealis' by Whit LaVonne
This sapphic story follows fated mates Lellies and Donella and kicks off when Lellies is kidnapped by two witches - though the narrative maintains a humorous, light tone. She’s thankfully rescued by Donella, a demon who doles out playful nicknames like “Muffin,” is fiercely protective, powerful, and a massive flirt. Together, they embark on an adventure in pursuit of justice. And despite being a short story, the plot is exciting and supported by impressive world-building. The narrative features realm-jumping, gods, cuddling, burlesque, and the classic trope of “only one bed,” all underscored by refreshingly direct communication between the characters. There's also 🌶 scenes that include spanking, clear consent, and the interesting nuances of what it’s like to be with a demon😈 Ultimately, it’s a tale that beautifully illustrates how, when you meet the right woman, you’d move worlds for her ❤️

Story 6 'The Hart & The Crane: An Immortal Orders Prequel' by Allison Carr Waechter
This story follows the dual perspectives of Selene and Aurelia. I haven’t read the 'Immortal Orders trilogy' yet, so these characters were new to me. In the trilogy, they’re parents - but this short story explores how they first meet. So for me, it simply reads as a tale of how two women cross paths in what appears to be a beautifully crafted magical world, rich with depth - and it’s a love story that begins with deception 👀
Selene, a thief, sets out to steal a particular book, but the moment she catches sight of the most handsome woman she's ever seen, her thievery is instantly derailed by an irresistible attraction. The stranger turns out to be Aurelia, who, as it happens, is also deceptive and a conwoman - her sights set on Selene for personal gain and survival.
What I didn’t expect was how both women’s truths end up working for them. Selene’s intuitiveness is incredibly endearing, and I adore the reckless, sexy abandon of diving headfirst into passion🔥 - knowing it’s a con, but craving the danger and challenge of the rogue that is Aurelia. And Aurelia’s seduction is “filthy and sensual” so who wouldn’t be begging for more? 🫦 I found this story deeply romantic and sexy because there's no real con involved - and I was left wanting more of their relationship and hoping there’s 🔥🌶 somewhere!

Story 7 'A Wild, Wild West' by Heather Nix
A sapphic Western vampire story? Delicious. Told through the dual perspectives of Luciana and Marguerite via their diary entries, we follow two vampire lovers who journey from London to New York in 1870. Curiosity, a thirst for adventure (and Luciana’s desire to make Marguerite happy) lead them all the way to Colorado. It’s a tale of two women who’ve found a way to be together and escape the rigid expectations of society, and it’s incredibly sexy. I especially loved the irony of them dressing as men for a night just to enjoy the town's saloon - when in truth, these women possess the most dangerous power of all. There felt like a running metaphor  throughout this story somewhere... But my particular highlight was when these vampires play teasing games with each other 🫦👅🔥🌶. I didn’t want it to end. I kept expecting some angst or twist, but it remained a short, joyful celebration of queer vampire love (sorry to the drained men 🤷🏻‍♀️) and I went back and read it again! Can we please have more with these two characters? 🤞

Story 8 'Mistress' by Amity Malcom
We encounter an anonymous voice at the start of a session with ‘Mistress’ 🔥🌶 and it soon becomes clear that this short story centres on two women exploring BDSM, with a particular focus on wax play. I appreciated how the chapters are thoughtfully organised into ‘The Negotiations’, ‘The Scene’, and ‘Aftercare’. The author demonstrates that scene planning, honest communication, regular check-ins (using the traffic light system), and aftercare are all important and sexy elements of this dynamic, leading to immense pleasure - and even earning a “good girl” 🫦 You’ll likely melt🕯by the way these two women carefully create a space of trust to share pleasure, cultivating a relationship where such intimacy can truly flourish ❤️

Story 9 'Horns of Sugar & Spice' by Skyler Drake
This is officially my first venture into the omegaverse (I’m fairly certain, at least - because I hadn’t heard of the term until I did some research and discovered just how vast and popular it is) and I’m thrilled to have a peek into the genre through this sapphic short story!
The narrative centres on Brielle, the Queen of Thieves, who plots to marry a forest goddess purely to execute her greatest heist. But her clever scheme unravels rather quickly when she meets Fawn - the most stunning goddess she’s ever laid eyes on.In a delightful twist, the thief ends up having her own heart stolen 😉 and finds her fated mate💫 And honestly, how could she not? Fawn is sweet, kind, irresistibly sexy - and she wants to have a baby with her ❤️ Through this story, I was introduced to the genre’s hierarchy, the significance of scents, knotting between women, and the hot and original🌶!

Story 10 'Nested' by Rose Santoriello
This is a very short sapphic love story that follows Dalal's perspective as she journeys with her mum from Scotland to Kuwait to visit family. But the trip takes a sudden - and quite literal - dive 🛬 An unexpected detour lands them in Greece, where Dalal surprisingly feels an immediate sense of belonging. From there, the story takes a fantastical turn as she meets Amalthea, a woman/harpy, and discovers a deeper desire to stay. It's a tale about finding a sense of home (or a nest) in a place you're not expecting it, and about meeting a fated partner along the way ❤️💫Oh, and there's an original take on the mile-high club, too🌶 which was a particular highlight!

Story 11 'Nightshade & Jasmine: A Nouveau Magique Story' by Evangeline Priest
A contemporary fantasy romance set in a magical underworld, this story follows master thief Kaelen (a shadow-walker and panthera shifter) on a mission to steal the Amethyst Grimoire 📚✨️ What begins as a smooth heist quickly spirals into chaos when she’s caught by Arisya, a nightshade mage 🧙‍♀️
What follows is a snarky reunion between exes who are now seemingly enemies - but can’t resist tossing around pet names like “darling,” whether to mock or seduce, who’s to say? They fight hard and make out harder 💥 Both are undeniably badass and a little bit morally grey, but they soon realise they’re even better when working together ❤️
What starts as a sharp-edged rivalry evolves into a sapphic romance full of passion, tension, and a bit of playful kink - light bondage, high heat, and plenty of pleasure as they have a lot of time to make up for 🔥🌶🍆 In the end, it’s a story that reminds us second chances can lead to the most powerful partnerships❤️

Story 12 'The Guy Sure Looks Like Plant Food To Me' by Santana Knox
The only clues I could find to this story before reading were the title and artwork that was giving 'little shop of horrors' 🪴🩸The story itself has a wickedly sardonic tone as we follow Runa, who, driven by loneliness and a bit of questionable spellcasting, creates Chewie: a massive, sentient Venus flytrap that just keeps craving more meat 🧍‍♂️🗑Conveniently (or not), Chewie's preferred meals are the awful men Runa comes across - so yes, this plant is absolutely murderous. We should be terrified… but it’s also oddly sweet and fiercely protective 🪴 And what blooms is a story of a fated encounter with Meri, a botanist in search of a job, which soon grows into a love story between two women, full of passion, excellent dirty talk 🔥🌶 and a shared goal of being the best plant parents they can be ❤️

Content considerations: death of parents (historical), gruesome descriptions, un-aliving, maiming, cooking of a human, descriptions of human soup and vile men.

✨𝒜𝑅𝒞 𝑅𝑒𝓋𝒾𝑒𝓌✨

This anthology contains a collection of sapphic short stories from so many authors I love and admire! Note this review is for the short story Death's Songbird

𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦, 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘭.

Lyric is a splendor, a rare songbird who becomes entangled in the machinations of the Emperor. But when she meets Death, her eyes are opened to the possibility of a life bigger than she’d ever imagined.

In Death's Songbird, LR crafts a beautiful and heart wrenching Nightingale retelling that explores concepts of death, healing, and love.

So grateful for the review copy opportunity! This is my honest and voluntary review

There's a little something for sapphic readers of all types in this brilliant anthology! I was blown away by the quality of content these lovely authors brought to the table. While it's hard to pick favorites when I really enjoyed almost every story, if you were to pick this up for only one or two stories, I would highly recommend Heather Nix's and L.R. Friedman's. Both of them have been living in my head rent-free since reading them; they were perfection! I don't know why you wouldn't want to at least sample them all though, lol. I came away from this anthology with new authors to keep an eye out for new releases for, as well as some back catalogs to peruse :)

(1st posting:) Posting this a little early and will come back once I've read the rest, but I really wanted to get a few notes up and get this on everyone's radar ahead of its release! IT's SO good!! I think there will be a little something for all sapphic readers ♥️

“Kissing Trails” — Clio Evans
(Contemporary, BDSM elements; she/her duo) ADHD rep
“This was stupid. God, this was so stupid. But I wanted her. All the hurt and anger and waves of sadness were eclipsed by a few rays of hope.”

This was a delicious tease of a read; I’m not usually into Daddy as an honorific, but in sapphic settings it just hits different. I loved the power Alice held over Jenna and the way it was reflected the same for Jenna onto Alice. Their past is obviously messy from the glimpses we get, but their love and their chemistry are intoxicating. I would love to read more of them.

♥️ “Death’s Songbird” — L.R. Friedman
(Fantasy, melancholy vibes; they/them death character with a she/her bird-woman/splendor)
“I’d bear the burden of a thousand souls to see yours radiate as brilliantly as it does when you sing.”

Slow-paced and makes your chest ache, but beautiful in a haunting way. It’s a hard-earned HEA that ends on a note of justice that was more than satisfying. I loved the tale of the compara, the splendors and the scythes. The spicy bits were wonderful too, tastefully erotic and sensual in the way only sapphic writing can be.

“Just a Kiss” — Mikayla Hornedo
(Fantasy, short but filled with sapphic longing, she/her duo bruja & vamp? I think)
The desire for her was everywhere, no space in me untouched by it. An insatiable need to bring her as close as possible, to make sure she felt just how much I yearn for her.

This was more of a teaser than anything else, but the author’s style was good and I would pick something up by her in the future based on it.

“A Hankering for Harnesses” — Dalia Davies
(Fantasy/Monster romance, centaur x dryad — but a monstrous kind, not just the pretty tree lady kind)
I collect pretty things, and she is the prettiest being I’ve ever encountered. But her beauty is fueled by her freedom. She is not part of my collection. Tana has never been my possession. She is a gift, yes, but she comes back because she wants to. I let her leave, because I love her too much to trap her here.

The title is a little misleading lol I was expecting something kinky 😂 but that’s okay! Overall, not entirely my style, but the flowery sapphic writing was a fun break from my usual. I enjoyed Davies’ take on dryads a lot. And I loved the deep longing they both had for each other and that we got their HEA.

“A Weekend in Sorealis” — Whit LaVonne
(Supernatural, she/her human x she/they demon)
I keep telling myself to slow down, but after the first taste of their wet heat, I am wolfish—not only for her cum but for every squeal and sigh they let out. Every move of their hips and grasp of their hands. I want Donella out of control. I’m out of control with how much I want them.

The writing style isn’t hitting for me, it feels like a lot of telling vs showing and that kind of takes me out of it especially with how the dialogue is done and the fact that the story is fever-dreamesque in its whimsy. But I enjoyed the concept overall, especially all the consent and gentle intimacy (very healing to read), and I love me a good demoness!

♥️ “A Wild, Wild West” — Heather Nix
(Supernatural/Historical Romance, she/her vampire duo)
And then her tongue was on me again and I was lost —lost to sensation and pleasure and the wild unrestrained need that binds us together like pages and pages of handwritten poetry.

Loved this one, the writing was so entrancing, and I enjoyed the POV switches. Both Maggie & Luci were intriguing characters I would love to read more of, but I didn’t feel unsatisfied by the way the story progressed & ended. I really like the sapphic softness combined with the brutality of blood-drinking/man-killing that felt a little unhinged but in a good way? Maggie’s hopeful light but brutal bloodlust paired with Luci’s age-won pessimism but adoration for her love was also chef's kiss.

This is an ARC review of the Tenth Muse: A Sapphic Anthology :D (minor spoiler)

I haven’t read in a long time because I was having a hard time finding books that not only got my attention, but held it. However, recently I’ve found my fire for reading growing, so I picked up this anthology. I love the short story format, and how each setting is so different from the last. From modern day to fantasy. Finishing each short story has left my heart feeling warm and a smile on my face. Not to mention that I feel so good finishing the short stories!

My favorite so far is L.R. Friedman’s “Death Songbird”. Watching everything Lyric goes thru, and her struggles with feeling alone, and then finally meeting Reaper was incredible. To see how they were able to not only cherish Lyric, but reassure her that she mattered, and show her just how special she is. Their love story was beautiful to watch unfold.

Also, I loved how Reaper is non-binary! As a non-binary person myself, it’s so hard to find representation in books that feel genuine to me. I loved Reaper, and I’m looking forward to reading more of the anthology to see more representation and love stories blossom.

This review is for the ARC of the short story of L. R. Friedman : Death's songbird. Review for the rest of the anthology will follow!
Includes some spoilers!

Personally, I'm not a big fan of short stories because there are usually little to no character development. But oh boy how wrong I was! Especcialy when it is written by my favoruite author!!
I loved reading Lyric go from "I want to go back to the comfort of my lonely forest" to longing for someone and some feelings she didn't even know existed brb gonna cry for this tonight!

And Reaper...I loved how he didn't even want to mention the emperor but still went to take care of the emperor BECAUSE LYRIC WANTED THAT!! Girl I would be head over heels for someone like that too! Even tho the names sometimes sound too cringy in fantasy books, because they refer exactly to the character, I have always loved the name Lyric and that's why I will make an exception lol

My review currently is only for L.R. Friedman's story in this anthology, Deaths Songbird. I will update my review when I have read the full book once it is released.

L.R. Friedman never disappoints and knows how to write the most beautiful stories. This is no exception.
This world that Lyric lives in is described so exquisitely. Lyric is magical through her singing but lives a lonely life. Reaper is a death scythe who helps give Lyric's life meaning. Their love story is one for the ages, and I want more!

If this story is any indication of how the rest of the book will be, then I know this book will be a favorite this year. Another bonus, all profits of the anthology, will support the National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network!

⭐⭐⭐.5
👀Tropes: It's an anthology, there are so many. There are author notes before each book that should help.
☠️CW: ^^
🪢Kinks: ^^
📚Read Method: Kindle eBook ARC
✨My Thoughts: I love anthologies! Especially when they are sapphic. A reader gets to pick and choose and if you don't like one part, just skip it and move onto the next story! Many of these stories were awesome and I found some new authors to read, which is always fun.

1) Kissing Trails by Clio Evans
- BDSM to start out the anthology? Yes please. Exes who get another chance, what could happen??

2) Death's Songbird by L. R. Friedman
- This one was so fun and I had NO idea how this one was going to end, but I did enjoy the ending and think it was original.

3) Just a Kiss by Mikayla Hornedo
- Very sweet, quick story, but honestly I don't remember much about it.

4) A Hankering for Harnesses by Dalia Davies
- I mean, sexy stick bug? Like..... hello? Who wouldn't read this!!

5) A Weekend in Sorealis by Whit LaVonne
- I fell in love with Donella. I love them so much. Protective, one bed, demon? Smash.

6) The Hart & The Crane by Allison Carr Waechter
- A thief who falls so hard for a beautiful women? Same. But not a thief. But I would have fallen for Aurelia too.

7) A Wild, Wild West by Heather Nix
- YES. That's basically it. A vampire romance of grumpy/sunshine and they are in the wild west, living their best lives draining men. Not mad at all.

8) Mistress by Amity Malcom
- Spice from the first page, just dripping in spice. With a fun twist!

9) Horns of Sugar & Spice by Skyler Drake
- Fated Mates = insta spice, absolutely adored it.

10) Nested by Rose Santoriello
- I was very intrigued by this story. Fated mates, place crashes, and a harpy? I didn't see that coming, but was here for it.

11) Nightshade & Jasmine by Evangeline Priest
- Ex's second chance? Maybeeeeee

12) The Guy Sure Looks Like Plant Food To Me by Santana Knox
- I LOVED THIS ONE! Best book of the anthology. I haven't read anything by Santana Knox before, but I'm absolutely going to now. I need my own Chewie, like right now. Runa is strong and protective and caring, and terrifying. Meri is stubborn, hard headed, and passionate.

💖Quotes:
From Santana Knox
"Except, I don't give a damn about politics, children, or men. I just want to grow plants. I just want to stick my hands in dirt and get to spend my time with the things I love most."
"Why breathe when there's no air left in the room? Why breathe when dying right here, right now, would ensure I'd die the happiest I could ever possibly be?"

I'm usually not a fan of short stories or anthologies. But I saw Sapphic and I was sold!

I did not end up reading all the stories in this anthology, only 5 caught my attention and I read them. (I do have plans to read the remaining 7 at some point in the future, I don't know when for a certainty)

1) Kissing Trails by Clio Evans (Contemporary)
I enjoyed the characters, they also surprisingly had depth (despite the limited chapters, 4 in total). I liked the writing too. And I would read a full book on the characters.

2) Just A Kiss by Mikayla Hornedo (Fantasy) (They were the only author known to me)
A short chapter that piques your interest and makes you want to know more about the world the author selected the characters from.

3) A Weekend in Sorealis by Whit LaVonne (Magical Realism I think)
Interesting plot + likeable characters

4) Horns of Sugar & Spice by Skyler Drake (Fantasy)
The premise caught my attention and I loved the title too. I enjoyed it. It has fated mate trope (a trope I enjoy). The writing is also solid, the story is also cosy.

5) Nightshade & Jasmine by Evangeline Priest (Fantasy)
There's nothing like Sapphic yearning and this book delivered this and then some.
It's my favorite of the 5 stories I read and I love it.
The characters, the plot, the world, the magic system, second chance romance too, yeah, need I say more? The book fired on all cylinders for me.

I am happy an anthology like this will be out in the world!
This is something you should pick up and read.

This review is mainly about one of the novellas included in the anthology which is Death’s Songbird which I adored !!! I need to read all the others !!

Thank you always to the author for sharing an ARC copy of this novella with me !!! I can’t wait for the whole anthology !!!

A sapphic novella in the Tenth Muse Anthology … and what a wonderful experience !!! I loved it!!!! I trust this author to make me extremely emotional and bothered all at the same time and once again, she didn’t fail to surprise me. A songbird who has always been used and Death themselves, always present, always there, this time to save her from doom. I loved the sapphic representation and I loved the spicy scenes. But most of all, I loved the deep connection felt between the characters and the sense of belonging that our main character finally got to experience after all the turmoil she had to face. A songbird who was caged for too long. Finally free to be happy. I loved it!!! And of course now I need to read the whole anthology !!! I am obsessed !!!

This anthology was pure magic—every single story a gem in its own right. Each tale offered something completely unique, yet they all shared a common thread of heart, hope, and beautifully crafted relationships. I genuinely couldn’t pick a favourite; every story pulled me in and wrapped itself around my heart in a different way.

There’s something so comforting about slipping into a collection like this—where every new story whisks you off to a brand new world, but the emotional core remains just as warm and tender. I devoured the entire book in just a day and a half, unable to stop myself from diving headfirst into each new universe.

It’s the kind of anthology that leaves you smiling, soft, and maybe just a little teary-eyed—in the best way. A stunning showcase of twelve incredibly talented authors, and one I’d wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in need of a joyful, heart-hugging read. Absolute perfection.

Kissing Trails

Since this story was really short, it kind of felt unfinished. However, the smut was really really good!

Death’s Songbird

“I'd bear the burden of a thousand souls to see yours radiate as brilliantly as it does when you sing."

This short story was sooooo good omg! I love reading retellings, but this one was my first time reading a "The Nightingale" retelling. I really enjoyed it! I love L.R. Friedman's writing style, and the world-building did not disappoint! It was really interesting and easy to get immersed in the story. Reaper and Lyric were so so cute together, and I loved the hair washing scene! I also loved Reaper's nickname for Lyric! And the spice was so good hehe, especially the shadow play. I also enjoyed the family aspect of the story.

Just a Kiss

Nothing wrong with this story, but I did DNF because I wasn't vibing with the fantasy aspects.

The Guy Sure Looks Like Plant Food

To be honest, I'm not sure what I just read??

This anthology was such a fun read.

From man-eating plants to historical vampires, dryads and centaurs, to kinkiness and shadow straps, there's something for everyone in this collection.

I loved the format of these short stories. I don't often read short stories, and I believe they're more difficult to write than a full-length novel due to being able to quickly tell a story with enough context to understand what's going on.

Additionally, I think it's important that this anthology is bringing attention to National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color network. In a world where trans lives need more support than ever--especially BIPOC trans individuals--this anthology is important in many ways.

thank you so much to the Tenth Muse Anthology team for the ARC.

ARC review!

I loved that I got to ARC review this book and I love the concept. For me personally, the anthology had a couple of bangers (my favorites were Dalia Davies' A Hankering for Harnesses and Amity Malcom's Mistress) but overall I was left a little disappointed for reasons I can't entirely explain. Maybe it's because we make F/F couples "earn" their happy ending in ways we don't for M/F or even M/M pairs, maybe it's because I felt the stories faded to black more often than in short story anthologies with M/F couplings. IDK man, overall I wasn't feeling the Girl Power for this one. Do I still recommend it? Heck yeah.

I received an ARC for LR Friedman's story - Death's Songbird (this review is only for that story). I'm going to start off with a disclaimer; I generally do not read anthologies because the stories are not long enough for the necessary world building and character development (at least IMO). That being said, this was a beautiful story about overcoming loneliness, finding purpose, & finding love. The story was creative & unlike anything I had previously read. based on this story alone, this anthology is a must read.

4.5 Stars

Death’s Songbird, by L.R. Friedman, is a short story in the Tenth Muse Sapphic Anthology. The story follows Lyric, whose songs are beautiful and weave magic. It saddened me because this beauty was struggling with her loneliness until Reaper gave her life purpose.

Although the world-building and character development were not extensive, Friedman created beautiful visuals and enchanting characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and it is exactly what I have come to expect from this author.

This is a lovely collection of short stories and has something for everyone. I loved that they ranged in style and content so much.

My absolute favourite was ‘A Weekend in Sorealis’ but I might be biased since I’m a sucker for a good demon love story. Close behind was ‘Horns of Sugar & Spice’ - a beautifully whimsical monster love. What is it about horns that just get me?

It’s amazing how much world building some of these authors put into short stories.

Definitely a good read for anyone looking for a sapphic romance pick me up.

Thank you so much for the ARC ❤️

This anthology was full of great sapphic reads! I enjoyed all the stories and there is such a good variety here. I loved the mix of monster, PNR, and contemporary and the variety of spice levels. Not only is the antho full of awesome stories, but the proceed go to a great cause as well!

This is a perfect book to pick up if you're looking for some Sapphic love stories from favourite authors. I also loved the chance to discover new favourites and new worlds. I am excited to dive into some other works that expand the worlds introduced here!

This anthology has something for lovers of sapphic romance stories. Each story captivated me in different ways and left me wanting more as each piece is a quick read. My favorites in the anthology were Kissing Trails (Clio Evans), A Wild Wild West (Heather Nix), and Just A Kiss (Mikayla Hornedo). Some of the writing was on the softer/sweeter side while others stories had language that had me giggling and blushing. Definitely worth picking up and the anthology supports a worthy cause :)

*Huge thanks to The Muse Collective for the early copy!

Oh my Goddess, this is an absolutely fantastic anthology of Sapphic tales. I loved hearing the different author's voices, and reading about a variety of species finding and claiming love.

Initially I thought I'd be able to choose a favourite story, but having read them all, I don't think I can pick just one. They were all really well crafted, and I'll absolutely be open to reading more from any of these authors in the future.

I received an ARC of this ebook and I'm voluntarily leaving this review.

This is a review for one of the short stories in this anthology: Deaths Songbird by L.R. Friedman.

I really enjoyed this short story ... took me by surprise tbh.

I liked Lyric but loved the mystery of Reaper. when I realized what kind of story it was turning into 🫠💦 Reaper is everything!

Definitely will consider reading the other stories in this anthology.

Something for everyone! I loved these Sapphic short stories. They introduced me to a few genres that I hadn’t even tried reading before and each story kept me hooked.
