Romantic and Funny!
The authoress, Wendy Warren is so witty and fun that the reader relates to her created characters. Even the supporting characters are so colourful that you can't help but get lost in the story. Making Babies is definitely a page turner that kept me so involved that I finished the book all at once as I could not put it down. Such a heart warming story and worth your time!
I will have to re-read this story to laugh out loud.

When Elaine hears that her ex is having a baby with the woman he divorced her for 9 months earlier, she decides that she doesn't need a man to have a baby after all. So she makes the decision to become a single parent. But just as she's deciding this she comes across Mitch Ryder, her ex-husband's divorce lawyer who feels pretty guilty about how things turned out for her and wants to make it up to her. He doesn't expect the attraction or the friendship or the irrational sense of jealousy he has at the thought of her carrying some anonymous sperm donor's child. So he offers up his services...at first it's just a practical solution, then it's a relationship and then it's love.
I give the author credit here. For myself, whose biological clock is essentially broken, the way this author describes Elaine's desire for a child had me hearing faint ticking sounds. You really get a sense that she wants a child and she wants one for the right reasons and she fully understands and looks forward to the chaos that motherhood would entail. The friendship between them was nice and I liked how Mitch came to understand the definition of family. This story felt a bit long and kind of dragged with little excitement or angst at times, but it was a good read.

I read this book when it came out in 2004, and to be honest I have no idea why I hadn't already reviewed it. 12 years on, it is still one of my favourite Special Edition books.
It is a very sweet romance about a woman who had lost everything in a divorce and the love of her life, the man who helped her ex-husband clean her out. Now, that's conflict. But Mitch Ryder is a guy I would have fallen in love with if he were real. And when an author is able to do that, she has my attention!
If you like sweet romance, and you can get a kindle copy, get it.
