HEXED - The Curse That Found Me: Book One in the HEXED Urban Fantasy Series

Rate this book
Good deeds don’t go unpunished. Trust me — I tried.

I simply tried to help a dying old woman. Sweet, right? Except she “thanked” me by cursing me with something ancient and dangerous. Now I see monsters lurking in the shadows, I share my apartment with a demon who won’t shut up, and people keep calling me a Borderlander like that’s supposed to mean something.

Oh — and someone really wants me dead.

The Curse That Found Me is the first book in the HEXED Urban Fantasy Series—a gritty, atmospheric story full of reluctant magic, ancient curses, and supernatural secrets. Perfect for fans of YA urban fantasy books with a dark edge, fast pacing, and a touch of sarcasm.

If you love urban fantasy magic, smart-mouthed heroes, demons with agendas, and books that blend humor with horror, you’ve found your next obsession.

The curse chose him. Now the Underside wants him back.

Hey, I’m Alex Wilder — part-time writer, full-time lover of cursed stories, strange magic, and characters who talk back. Writing isn’t my day job (yet), but it’s the one thing that keeps me sane… or at least interesting.

Hexed: The Curse That Found Me is my debut novel — a dark urban fantasy with reluctant heroes, sarcastic demons, and more trouble than anyone asked for.

More coming soon. Probably with more curses.

Such an entertaining book! it has magic,it has an alcoholic imp, a sarcastic main character and a lot of adventures! I love Matt, he is funny, he has a great sense of justice and great potential in becoming one of my favorite characters.
I bought this book on an impulse and am not sorry, I inhaled it! This world Alex Wilder created mixes reality with fantasy in a very unique and interesting way, and I enjoyed reading about it.
A very nice story, can't wait to see what Matt and Grimm will do next!

Hexed is like if a chaotic witch, a cynical therapist, and your worst intrusive thoughts got together and wrote a book. Alex Wilderness blends dark humour with magic and emotional depth in a way that feels fresh and utterly addictive. The world-building is quirky, the characters are sharp-tongued i mean who doesnt want a shapeshiftinf imp. The pacing keeps you turning pages with a grin and a grimace.

If you like your fantasy with bite, wit, and a dash of emotional wreckage, this one’s for you. A little messy in places, but so is dark magic.

Sharp and witty

This book was an absolute blast from start to finish! Love the writing style, the rythm of the story and even more the characters. It's sharp, witty, and perfectly blends the darker elements with a fantastic sense of humor. I quickly got attached the main character, whose sarcastic voice makes even the most bizarre situations funny. The continuos banter with the unexpected demonic roommate was particulary hillarious. The story never loses its stride, maintaining a gripping rhythm that kept me turning pages late into the night. I'm eager to read the next installment to see where this wild journey goes!

First Sip Thoughts:
This book felt like sliding into that sweet spot of urban fantasy where sarcasm meets shadows. Right away, I was pulled into the chaos, and honestly? It was so much fun to get lost in.

What I Loved:
The banter. The energy. The way the humor and danger weave together without losing the heart of the story. And the sidekick vibes? Absolute perfection I was grinning through entire scenes thanks to the sharp wit. It’s got that cozy-but-chaotic charm that makes you feel right at home in a world full of curses and demons.

What Could’ve Been Stronger:
If you’re not a fan of fast-paced, quippy characters, this might not be your brew. For me though, it was the perfect mix.
Also, I am not sure if this was just a glitch in my ebook reader or not, but it seemed like one of the scenes with our witty sidekick was repeated, which made me question if I had a hex put on me to re-read that section.

Final Sip Thoughts:
Hexed: The Curse That Found Me is textbook urban fantasy with bite, humor, and just the right dash of grit. Perfect for readers who crave witty heroes, magical mishaps, and adventures that leave you eager for the next page (or book).
