Sara Bourgeois is a Midwesterner through and through. She spends her time writing, reading, herding cats, and standing in her driveway during tornado warnings. (You can't see them from the basement.)
Taylor Hartwell wanted to make the town bake sale a big success. Her way. Down to the last inch. But she started out subtly, persuading, nudging, then pushing and stomping (behind the scenes), and she was enjoying the triumph!
But a woman driven to manipulate and control everyone makes enemies, and enemies rarely join in on the triumphant celebration. Ask Caesar. Oh, wait, his "friends" arranged his going away party. In this book, Kinsley has to find out who arranged Taylor's final bon voyage!
The story was good, but there was a lot more "telling us what happened" than taking us along, and although it takes longer to write, I like seeing the action happen (no matter how mundane).
This book had editing mistakes, duplication of information, and repetition. Maybe it was sent to press too soon? I hope the next one does better.
Really enjoyed how this story came together. As always Meri is my favorite part. Hope he keeps getting a larger role again. the story did drag a bit in the middle like it was just to add words. But it was good. Liked Lilith’s input. That could branch out into a whole new series.
This is the Kinsley and Meri I love back in action. If you stopped enjoying when the stories seemed dark and hard to follow, this is where to restart your journey with Meri
Fantastic book. Touches on some real life issues and the ending is fabulous. Wish there had been just a teeny bit more Whisper, but overall a really good book.
