My first taste of an F1 sports romance, and ooof buckle up, this was a wild ride.

The tension and chemistry is absolutely sizzling. 🥵 Despite not having much prior knowledge of F1, this was easy to follow along and felt exciting throughout. I am desperate to read what happens next 😬

Big thank you to Hambright PR for the eARC! ♥️

This was a whole bunch of nothing. I cannot imagine how their story will be dragged out across four more books.

Callum and Aurélie are a match made in heaven—they’re both exhausting characters, and I don’t know who would ever want to be friends with them. They’re so full of themselves and completely in denial of it. It could’ve been entertaining, but instead just drove me insane.

Aurélie really annoyed me with the way that she speaks about other women and the way that she compares them to herself. She’s obviously insecure about her worth as a driver and romantic partner, which I understand given her background and the state of the sports industry, but then she goes on to belittle these women for no reason, especially the “pit chasers.” She tries to distinguish herself from them and push them into this “other” category, like they would never be able to understand her struggles. It’s incredibly disappointing, especially considering the way that she claims to be “paving the way” for other female drivers and inspiring a future generation.

Throughout the book, Callum and Aurélie play an immature game of tag, which is LAME. Aurélie is portrayed as the one who’s “winning,” but she’s always the one in shambles because the girl cannot make up her damn mind!! Her hot-and-cold attitude is supposed to add tension, but her behavior is just so high school, and it’s not cute—girl is already 24 years old, she pisses me off. So much of their back-and-forth is about her “running.” She’s so quick to jump to conclusions; I get that she has trust issues, but she doesn’t even TRY to communicate with the man who has been very open about his intentions. Their relationship moves in circles, and I don’t care for it.

They talk soooo much about challenging each other, but they never actually do. They’re both all bark and no bite. Sure, this was a slow burn, but this had none of the angst or real tension of one. These characters talk more about the fire between them than actually building one. Their romance is only ever surface-level.

So much of their chapters, especially Callum’s, is about how badly they want to sleep together. All Callum ever thinks about is hooking up with her, even when she’s upset and feeling vulnerable, he’s just thinking about her body.

I DO NOT like the lead-up to their first night together. He tries pulling the “do you know who I am” to get her hotel room number, and when that doesn’t work, he bribes the concierge for her info. That is such a security nightmare. Not to mention the fact that he is VISIBLY drunk—likely even more drunk than she is based on their respective behavior. This setup is NOT romantic, and it cheapens the whole night.

I love a GOOD jealousy/possessiveness scene, and Callum did not deliver. He gave me the ick, talking about how he’ll “rip the place apart” if there’s someone else in her room, and begging her to tell him that “no one else has their hands on [her] tonight.” 1. He ain’t even her man, and 2. He sounds like a little boy who doesn’t want someone else playing with his toy. He doesn’t convey jealousy; he just shows that he’s a control freak.

In terms of the writing, it’s cringey, bland, and repetitive. The lack of context and the number of inconsistencies drew me out of the story more than the juvenile characters.

It often felt like I was randomly being placed into a moment with no information regarding the location, time of day, or how much time had passed since we last saw the main character of the chapter. Sometimes there were no descriptions of the setting, and other times they would come in so late into the scene. There was so much bouncing around, especially during the first half of the book—there was no time to adjust with little to no context. Even the main characters’ descriptions were minimal. Aside from Aurélie having blond hair and hazel eyes, and Callum having blue eyes, I have no idea what they’re supposed to look like. Descriptions for the side characters were nonexistent. I had to assign them all generic figures while I was reading.

Furthermore, there is so much hinted at about their backgrounds that we either don’t find out or get told very late into the story. Aurélie is very tied to her French roots, which Callum loves. I wish we got more about her home life and her family’s vineyards. We got a brief glimpse of the peaceful French countryside, and I wanted more. It could’ve shed some more light on her character. Also, Callum apparently has a reputation for being a playboy, but this was never brought up when discussing Aurélie’s hesitancy about pursuing something with him. You tell me 89% into the book that she’s scared about this part?! Callum is not a real famous person, how were we supposed to know what his reputation is if you include it in his introduction??

There are way too many details that don’t make sense when you look at the previous information given. For example:
- Callum is said to have loosened the knot of Aurélie’s robe and let it fall open, but he had already opened it earlier.
- Callum says, “Next time you call me that,” but Aurélie didn’t call him anything.
- During their second night together, Aurélie claims that she didn’t see Callum’s piercing, but she literally saw him fully naked the first time they slept together.
- How was Callum so late at noticing Aurélie's back tattoo when he was literally in the same position earlier that same night?
- During their second night, Callum says he hasn’t seen Aurélie completely naked, but he literally did that first night.
- Callum undoes Aurélie’s shirt buttons, and then she leaves his room without redoing them.

Other writing issues that bugged me:
- Aurélie’s random clutch hitting the floor during their second night. Why not mention earlier that she had an item with her? It was like it magically appeared while they made out in Callum’s room.
- We hear sooo much about the skirt she’s wearing, and it isn’t until very late into their hookup that we learn it’s a DENIM skirt. I’m turning all of this into a movie as I read—I need these little details to actually paint the scene.
- I just can’t get over the fact that Aurélie went to bed with long, fully drenched hair. That's so uncomfortable.

Other things I didn’t like while reading this:
- When they were about to hook up in the club booth while their colleagues were sitting across from them.
- It was bad enough that Instagram and TikTok are brought up so much, but then we added SNAPCHAT to the mix?! No, babes, just no. Phone numbers were also an option.
- I was so sick of the fanfiction vs reality stuff. We get it, Aurélie, you’re not living in a fanfiction, and those writers aren’t actually writing about your life.
- Omg, the pacing was awful! The Miami night draaaaaaaged.

There were a few sweet and steamy lines here and there that I enjoyed, so that’s where the .38 comes from.

Overall, this was such a disappointing intro to Formula 1 romances. These characters pissed me off, there was such little context, and their “challenges” were exhausting excuses to avoid addressing their personal issues. I will not be continuing this series.

Thank you very much to Luna Literary Management for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

If you’re a fan of F1 and looking for a solid romance read, this is the one. The amount of research that went into this story is something most Grand Prix romance attempts severely lack — but not this one! It was fantastic. I could easily envision myself on the track with Aurelie and Callum. I can’t wait to see where this story goes next, and I’m here for every chicane and page turn.

Oh — and F1 knowledge aside — the smut? Top tier. 🥵

Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Spice: 4/5🌶️
*spice ratings are relative to similar books in the genre*

The Catalog: F/M, rivals to lovers, forced proximity, forbidden desire, mutual secret obsession, pierced peen (Prince Albert), mutual pining, jealous & possessive MMC, secret dalliances, past trauma, competition as foreplay

Kink: praise, biting, power play, breath control, light degradation

*Overdrive is book one in Speed Demons, a five book series that follows Callum and Aurélie’s journey.

Synopsis: Callum Fraser is ready for another F1 season, another chance to dominate the grid and bring home another championship. Until she steps onto the track; Aurélie Dubois, Luminis GP’s secret, new driver. The same woman that Callum has been obsessively following in F2. On the track, they’re rivals, the only drivers that can compete with each other. Off the track, they’re something so much more complicated.

Thoughts:
It has been really hard to find well done F1 romance books this year, but let me tell you, Overdrive has set up this series to be absolutely incredible. I adored this book and have fallen completely in love with these characters. I will absolutely be continuing the series and I am so honored to have been able to ARC read book one. I have a feeling these books are going to make waves.

First, I want to commend the author on how much care and research they’ve put into the actual racing. I am so impressed and it was really refreshing to read a F1 romance and feel like racing was part of the story.

Next, the characters. Woah, friends. Callum and Aurélie are my new bi-panic couple. Like they are so hot and confident and their competitiveness is insanely attractive. I am HOOKED! I cannot wait to read more of their sizzling banter. They are both so multi-dimensional and I really loved the fact that they have this animalistic attraction and need for each other, but there’s so much under the surface of their lust.

Callum is such an amazingly possessive and obsessive contemporary MMC. He is genuinely GONE for Aurélie, a total, sexy simp complete with biting, growling, and hand flexes.

Lastly, the smut. Kindle. Melting. Good. This book was high heat, high emotion, and inferno level spice. Callum and Aurélie are as competitive between the sheets and in the streets and their chemistry is truly unmatched.

I cannot recommend this book enough and I am SO READY for more!!

I’ve never watched a Formula 1 race before, but this book makes me want to start! I started this book and read it in two sittings, but totally was tempted to read it all at once! The writing in this book is so seamless to get wrapped up in and I can tell this series is going to keep me hooked. I definitely need the next book ASAP! The banter between Aurelie and Callum is so good and I couldn’t help but love the tension building between them. It was so easy to fall in love with both of their characters!

What to expect:
🏁 rivals to lovers
🏎️ formula 1 racers
🏁 forbidden desire
🏎️ forced proximity
🏁 slow burn
🏎️ praise kink
🏁 secret longing + obsession

Thank you to Caitlyn P. Tajon for letting me ARC read this in exchange for my honest review!

Mamamia!!! Overdrive is a pure marvel. I was captivated by Aurélie and Callum's story. We could cut the tension with a knife, given how tense it is, and the slow burn is made to keep us on the edge of our seats. 😍❤️ I loved seeing a real F1 romance with technical terms and a presence of the sport in the book with actual chapters about the different races (thanks to Caitlyn for the list of terms, otherwise I would have been lost). Also, for those interested in accents, Aurélie is French and Callum is Scottish. 👀 Overdrive isn't just an incredible sports romance; the supporting characters are also brilliant, and I'm so looking forward to the next installment in the series.

PS: Prepare yourself to stay up all night to finish this book... Caitlyn knows that 😂🫣

✨️ ARC Review✨️

There's something very refreshing when you read a book about a world you previously knew nothing about. I know NOTHING about cars, racing, or Forumla1, but was so excited to read Aurélie and Callum's story and learn the ins and outs of racing.

Admittedly, I was a little lost at times, but I appreciated how Tajon included a bit of a glossary at the front as well as images of race tracks.

This novel takes part entirely during a racing season. While it's a romance novel first, the reader becomes incredibly immersed in the world of F1.

Aurélie Dubois is thrust into the F1 world as she replaces her brother, who is out due to injury. Dubois has spent time on the F2 circuit and is ready for the challenge of F1. She is very well aware it's a hard place to be as a woman among teams of men, but she has something to prove to girls around the world.

Callum Fraser is enamored with Aurélie. They're "rivals" (but are they really??) who clamored to make the podium.

Sparks fly and tension boils as they do a should-we-shouldnt-we dance for a large chunk of the book, but when they finally get together...🔥 WOAH. Callum is completely gone for this woman.

This book was long and left us on a cliffhanger. There were moments that seemed to lull a bit, but overall, I enjoyed it! There are 5 books in this series all about Aurélie and Callum, so buckle up!!! The next 4 are releasing over the next couple of months, so you won't have to wait to continue reading their story!

includes:
✿ sports romance (formula 1)
✿ rivals to lovers
✿ they match each others freak
✿ a man obsessed

aurelie dubois is the newest rookie on the grid who is ready to shake up in the sport & show the world women belong in f1. callum fraser is a 4x world champion ready to take a shot at another title but the moment he sees she’s on the grid, everything changes.

in formula 1 romances I feel like it’s hard to balance the technical accuracy of the sport with the added fictional elements of romance to it. this book? no issue of that! the racing scenes felt so realistic that it felt like I was right there in the car with them. you can tell the author did their research and put lots of thought into how making the sport as digestible for people who might not familiar with it.

aurelie feels like the world is on her shoulders. as she is replacing her brother on the team, she feels like everyone is waiting for her to mess up and prove women don’t belong in f1. the birthday scene? I wanted to scream at everyone and give her a hug.

when I tell you he’s a man obsessed? yeah, give callum the down bad award. he is so unfiltered about how he feels about her and had me laughing at his inner thoughts whenever he saw even a glimpse of her.

aurelie and callum know the effect they gave on one another & they start playing with fire until someone caves first. the saying they match each other’s freak, it’s about them. the spice? probably some of the biggest things I’ve read in a while. like smut that you finish reading and you’re still thinking about.

one of my favorite parts was kimi and marco knowing how bad their teammates were for one another & never missing the opportunity to make digs at them.

going to be walking around the length of cota until the second book comes out and think about how callum fraser changed my life.

thank you luna literary for the arc in exchange of my honest thoughts & opinions 💗

I needed to wait a few days before I could sit down & write this review.
BIG SIGH. I’M READY NOW.

This was (I believe) my first F1 sports romance novel & I’ll be honest - I was nervous going into it that I’d literally have no idea what was going on but it’d be fine because I’m here for the vibes ya know.
BUT, Caitlyn completely floored me by providing a detailed & thoughtful glossary, map, explanations & pronunciations for everything.
NOT FOR ONE second did I feel confused, lost, or just completely unaware of what was going on. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
At the same time, it didn’t feel “dumbed” down. You can tell throughout reading that Caitlyn was knowledgeable in this sport & educated enough to provide thoughtful explanations. This was an incredibly well researched labor of love. It was felt from cover to cover.

NOW, let’s move on to the characters. Aurelie was a BADDIE - stepping up & absolutely crushing a male dominated field? I’m immediately in love. She was spicy but soft & feminine. I wanted to BE her.
ESPECIALLY in the club in Miami - IYKYK.
Callum, Callum, Callum… SIGH. I am in love with you. But also… no wonder you loved Auri.. because ya know… see above.
He was hot, like underwear melt off kind of hot. The piercing… 5 stars. The tattoo… 5 stars. Just everything about this man was 5 stars. He was cocky but not in rude way? He was everything you want a cocky champion of an MMC to be. Their banter was top tier. The tension? Mouth watering. The slow burn? Phenomenal & worth every freaking second.

The spice was SPICINNN.
It was everything & more. It was spectacularly done - & appropriate for them. Nothing felt awkward or forced. Nothing felt like it was being thrown in to be able to say it was there. It was thoughtful & hot as heck baby. There was NOTHING cringe at all. It was absolutely perfectly done.

The plot was so thoughtful & again…perfectly done. I never once felt like, “Oh this is fluff”.
Every word in every sentence had meaning. Nothing was thrown in for shock value or to be able to check whatever boxes.
It was natural & flowed perfectly.

I am not-so-patiently waiting for book two because it ended on a cliffhanger that has me unwell. UNWELL Caitlyn…

Anyways, this was a phenomenal read that I devoured & couldn’t put down. Caitlyn wrote an amazing love story filled with tension, spice, banter with a powerhouse of an FMC who exudes femininity in a way that has your jaw on the floor, coupled with an MMC who makes you melt like a popsicle on the Fourth of July.

Thank you for trusting me with this ARC Caitlyn.

Speed demon mode: ACTIVATED.
Early Arc Reader
From the very first page of Speed Demons, I was completely in. Caitlyn has this uncanny ability to write characters that don’t just live on the page, they live in your heart. Callum and Auri aren’t just protagonists. They’re people. Flawed, fiery, funny, aching so real it hurts. I saw pieces of myself in both of them, and watching their story unfold was like falling into a dream you never want to wake up from. The F1 world is high stakes and high speed, but what Caitlyn does so beautifully is show us that the real intensity isn’t just on the track it’s in the tension filled glances, the quiet moments, the unspoken words. The slow burn? My GOD. It’s not just worth the wait it demands it. Every look, every near touch, every moment of vulnerability felt like a heartbeat skipping in real time. You don’t just read it you can feel it in your bones. The longingggg would have me on my knees for Callum any day of the week 🧎‍♀️
I laughed. I blushed. I cried. I buzzed. (Shout out to the crimson kiss for the hookup)
And now I’m gnawing at the bit like a woman possessed, desperate for more. Caitlyn, I need the rest of the series like Callum needs a podium finish and Auri needs her damn pistachio caffeine. If you’ve ever loved someone to much, wanted something too badly, or craved a story that leaves tire marks on your soul, Speed Demons is your next obsession.

Aurélie and Callum are rivals on the formula 1 track 🏁
Aurélie has a lot to prove and Callum can’t help but be intrigued by her. When their rivalry causes sparks to fly between them off the track, they have to see if they want to make it last.

I didn’t realize this ends with a cliffhanger and does not end in an HEA. When reading, you can tell the author thoroughly researched formula 1 and took great care to make it accurate!

🏁 F1 romance
🍒 Rivals to lovers
🏁 Forced proximity
🍒 Slow burn
🏁 Praise K!nk
🍒 Forbidden

Callum and Aurelie are PERFECTION! I was hooked immediately with the rivals to lovers banter, the forbidden tension and longing, and how dang charming they both are. I mean Callum is Scottish and Aurelie is French… that’s a 10/10 pairing right out of the gate.

I think this book did such a great job of introducing the characters, their connection, and how they show up in their sport, as well as some initial struggles. I’m excited to get to know more of their backstory and see their relationship progress throughout the series!

I don’t often get the experience where the book plays like a movie in my mind but that is absolutely what happened with Overdrive.

Caitlyn P. Tajon has somehow mastered the art of incredibly beautiful and poetic writing without adding fluff, unnecessary words or scenes. The characters and plot truly shine on their own merit and I’m just blown away with how she captured the essence and heart of this story.

Thank you so much to Caitlyn for the opportunity to beta read Overdrive. I honestly felt like I didn’t have much to offer because this story was already so perfect. I was completely blown away with her writing and cannot wait to see where she takes this series! Thank you to Luna Literary for the opportunity to arc read!

‼️ Ends on a cliffhanger!!! Book 1 of 5 in a connected series. Please check TW before reading. Although they may not show up in Overdrive, they will throughout the series.

3.5⭐️ - Thank you to the author and Hambright PR for gifting me an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review!

⚠️Trigger warnings included at the end of review (as well as tropes)

As some of you may know I’m a huge Formula One fan. It’s one of my favorite sports and I keep up with it almost 24/7. When I saw this arc pop up in my emails I jumped at the chance to read it cause it was right up my alley!

As my first ever f1 romance it didn’t disappoint with the sport aspect. It’s very clear from the start that the author put a serious amount of time and effort into researching and knowing every detail of the sport to get it just right. From the term list at the start to the descriptions during practices, qualifying, and races it was obvious how much accuracy was prioritized. All the moments throughout involving the sport were my favorite part of this book and honestly the part that made it not completely flop for me. I was just really entranced while reading the race and other scenes and having it actually represent the sport I loved.

Adding on to that I really liked that the FMC was a driver along with the MMC. The book gave proper representation to a gender that is constantly undermined within the sport. Auri persevering despite the negativity and backlash she received was inspiring. I did appreciate that she still enjoyed being feminine while also being a lethal competitor. While I think her character has a unique and complicated background, she did fall a little flat for me at times. I wish we would’ve gotten to know a bit more about her but this is a series so I’m hoping more will be revealed throughout. Overall, I did like her character and can only hope that one day we will have a woman like her on the real life grid.

Now the part that really lost my interest in this book was surprisingly the romance and MMC. To start off, the romance was completely dull for me. It was pure lust for three quarters of the book which honestly digusted me. As a true romantic girly I was disappointed to see the lack of emotional connection between the main characters. Even by the end where they admitted to “having” an emotional connection it just wasn’t there for me. Since it wasn’t there is also made me feel disconnected from the characters myself. As some can tell from other books I read I do not at all mind a good bit of spice but this much with the lack of actually knowing each other? It wasn’t enjoyable.

Now for the MMC: Callum. I was rlly excited, thinking he would be my next fav book boyfriend but I was sadly mistaken. I rlly didn’t like him at all. Usually I like a good reserved and grumpy love interest but there were times where it just bothered me, I wish he had shown more of a soft side for her throughout the book instead of just the very end. Complimenting her racing isn’t a soft side or anything special to me, it’s just the bare minimum for any man. We also didn’t really get much background on him other than a little bit of his childhood, so the lack of having those more dimensional moments for his character was disconnecting. Finally the thing that bothered me the most was how he talked about Auri in his chapters. Ik this book is spicy but I don’t think there was a single chapter of his where he didn’t mention something about her body or how his body reacted to her or wanting to touch her. Like it was just odd to me that those were the only things he had to say with an occasional mention of her personality. I know Auri discussed his body a lot as well but at the end of the day it was clear in most of her chapters that she was focused on racing not him.

Lastly, at the start of the book it mentioned trigger warnings and one was ⚠️miscarriage, infertility, etc ⚠️ however that was not brought up at all in the book from what I remember. I don’t know if it will be brought up later on but I thought it was weird to include but not actually dicuss further. Secondly, this is marketed as a rivals to lovers romance. However, I think it’s very clear that when reading from the characters povs they never hated each other or were even fully rivals. They both always admired each other while still being competitive. Idk I just felt like they both liked each other too much from the start to properly be “rivals.” Also, the pace was very fast at the start, getting through different races quickly but had slowed down by a lot after reaching around 60%. It was just a weird shift going super fast to super slow out of almost nowhere.

I also wanted to add that I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style and I felt like a lot of the descriptions of certain things or appearances was heavily repetitive which annoyed me a bit.

In typical sports romances the author tends to either focus heavily on the sport or heavily on the romance. Within this book (and series) I think the author tried to focus on both too much which resulted in parts of it sometimes lacking. For example the lack of emotional connection and then later in the book the sudden disappearance of racing. I think this is because the author plans to make it a 5 book series, however I really don’t think that is necessary if either mostly f1 or mostly romance was prioritized. Too much is trying to be stuffed into a genre that doesn’t usually yield to such things. Sometimes certain genres just aren’t meant to be longer than 1-2 books in my opinion.

Overall, I think this was a good start to an upcoming series. I really enjoyed the sport aspect but didn’t love the romance aspect. I can only hope that within the next 4 books, a deeper connection is prioritized over spice and that the characters true identities are flushed out a bit more. I’m definitely interested in reading book 2 but if it continues down this path I may not have it in me to finish the series.

Once again, thank you to the author and Hambright PR for gifting me an arc of this book!

Holy crap !! As a fellow F1 girlie - this book was EPIC !!! Ok I kept picturing Callum as Lando N for some reason 🫣. And lord Jesus that man — ugh I was blushing, I was flustered, I had to stop a few times… this book was EVERYTHING !!

And hell yea to GIRLS ON THE GRID !! AURI has the right idea - she’s doing this for all the little girls who wanna race - who wanna be one of the best.. I’m so excited to see where this series goes, where their story goes but more importantly where Auri’s journey takes her.

I can’t wait to continue. so excited for Sept and the next book !

🏎️ Overdrive by Caitlyn P. Tajon – 4⭐ | 3🌶️

“Fast cars, faster hearts, and one very dangerous game of desire.”

Personal Reflection 💭
I didn’t realise I was craving an F1 romance until this book came revving into my life at full throttle. 🏁 I’m the kind of reader who adores a slow burn and characters full of messy, layered emotions—and Overdrive gave me all of that with a little extra fire. Aurelie’s fight to be seen in a world telling her she doesn’t belong? Yeah. That hit. And Callum… well, he just couldn’t stop seeing her, could he? 😩 It’s fast-paced, but emotional. Sporty, but still soft. A surprising and completely addictive combo. 🚦💘

What I Loved About This Book 💕

✨ The Characters – Aurelie & Callum
Aurelie is powerful in the kind of quiet knowing her worth, determined way that makes you want to scream "yes girl!" from the sidelines. She’s under a ridiculous amount of pressure, overlooked at every turn, but still ready to prove them all wrong. 🙌 And Callum? He is broody with a capital B and number one playboy, but there’s such a softness underneath. Their dynamic had so much delicious tension, I felt like I was holding my breath half the time.

🏁 The Setting & Stakes
F1 isn’t something I read about often, so this felt *so* refreshing! High-speed races, rivalries, and just enough off-track drama to keep it juicy. You don’t need to be a Formula 1 expert—this is a great intro for the curious, and a fictional dreamland for the die-hard fans.

💥 That Sloooow Burn
Tension. Build-up. Longing glances. I was melting, honestly. Nothing was rushed, but everything felt inevitable. Every page felt like it was ticking closer to ignition. 💣🔥

The Tropes 💫
- Rivals to Lovers 🏁
- Forbidden Desire 🔥
- Forced Proximity 😮‍💨
- Secret Longing & Obsession 👀
- Slow Burn with Explosive Payoff 💥
- High-stakes Competition 🏆
- Secret Tattoos and Piercings 👓🔥
- He Sees Her When No One Else Does 🥺
- Flirtatious Fanfiction Vibes ✍️

Ending Summary ✨
Overdrive delivers adrenaline, tension, and just the right amount of steam. If you’re in the mood for something that’s part emotional rollercoaster, part high-speed chase (with heart eyes and secret piercings along the way 😏), then this is a must-read. Aurelie and Callum will stay with me for a long while—and I’m so ready for book two. 🏎️💘

ARC Reader Review: Full Disclosure before I get into my review. I applied for this ARC because I liked the racing theme and that it was rivals to lovers but also because I read 99.9% dark romance and Thrillers and wanted to step out of my comfort zone.

That part wasn't a total success because at the end of the day I seem to need a little more toxicity in my MCs BUT this is a very well written book with a good story and the spark between Callum and Aurélie is real and extremely well done. It's also part one of a series so be prepared for that because the book does not have a clean ending.

Callum and Aurélie are Formula 1 race car drivers and this book plays out over the first part of an F1 season. Callum has been noticing Aurélie since she was in F2 (the minor league of the sport) and Aurélie has been looking up to Callum and wanting to race with him for ages. Aurélie is taking over her brother's seat after he was gravely injured and Callum is a four time champion looking to add another championship to his resume.

Caitlyn took great care with the F1 aspects of this book. She dove deep into the research and it shows. I really really enjoyed the rivalries and the racing aspects and how that framed the growing relationship/obsession between Callum and Aurélie.

Neither MC knows the other has been following/admiring their career until somewhat late in this book and to watch them grow closer/being unable to stay awar from each other in the heat of an F1 season where they are on rival teams while struggling to keep it professional was fun. I do love a good push/pull and this book had it in spades.

I could have easily given this 5 stars except the book started to really slow down for me at about 85%. I didn't realize this was the start of a series and wouldn't have a clean ending (not the author's fault!) until the plot started stalling in favor of building up Callum/Aurélie's relationship so I was a little disappointed I wasn't going to get a resolution in this book.

Still this story is very fun with good spice. The tension of Aurélie trying to build her F1 career, Callum trying to win another champion and watching a female rookie in a male dominated field where more than a few other drivers don't want to accept her raises the stakes nicely. Not to mention Aurélie trying to step out of her brother's shadow and show the league she wasn't picked just because she's Étienne's sister.

If rivals-to-lovers and sports romance is your cup of tea I think you will enjoy this book as long as you go into it knowing it's the start of a series. Caitlyn has a real gift with her plotting, characterization and world building. I'm curious to see where the series goes and I hope we get to see how the rivalaries develop and things resolve. It's a real nice start.

Okay what the heck?! This book was so good! I started it and read it all within the same day because I could not get enough of Callum and Auriele. I loved the pacing and tension and it felt perfect. I really liked how well you balance f1 and made their romance still feel realistic for two drivers

**book one of a five book continuous series about the same couple! It a standalone series. I have so many questions about auri that I’m sure we will get and I’m just so excited to get the next book!

Full Review:

"Aurelie Dubois was going to turn this grid upside down. And, god help me, she might turn me upside down, too. I couldn't fucking wait to see it happen."

Holy. Freaking. Cow. This book!

As a self proclaimed F1 GIRLY, this book had it all and it was so good! The balance between F1 and and romance was sooo good. The best part of this book was the headline 'Rivalry or Foreplay?" because, yes. Callum is just simping for our girl left and right, and while she is fighting for her respect as the only F1 female driver on the grip, Aurelie alsoooo knows how hot our boy is and is kinda/ sorta/ not really, fighting the attraction, but also encouraging his flirty DM's. The spice SPICES - and the slutty little character details?! SWOOOOON! This book ends in a cliffy for the couple and I'm DESPERATE for the next book in the series!

But seriously. As a mom to a 1.3 yo, I read this book from 7am to 7pm on a (Grand Prix) sunday. I could not put it down and just was hooked with both of the MC's instantly.

"And you think I only want you at your best? I like you just the way you are - firecracker-tongued and beautiful." He leaned in closer, so that his breath ghosted against my ear and set off a storm of goosebumps. "And I've only seen you on the edge, love. Just wait until I push you off it entirely."

🖤Rivals to Lovers
🩷FM F1 Drivers Romance
🏁Close Proximity
🏎️Forbidden Desire
🩷Longing and Angst

"You can run all you want, Dubois." I froze. His shadow showed he was standing now and was stepping closer. His breath was warm against my ear as he leaned in closer, voice as seductive as when he was inside me. My nipples hardened, aching beneath the thin fabric of my shirt as I remembered how he marked me with his touch and captivated me with his kiss.
"But you're gonna spend the rest of the season looking over your shoulder..." His fingers brushed my wrist.
Barely a touch, but it burned. "Wondering how long before I finally catch you."

Final Rating: 4.75⭐, 3.25🌶️. I AM DESPERATE OR Close Contact! What is going on with C&A?!

Thank you Hambright PR and Caitlyn P. Tajon for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you, Caitlyn P. Tajon and Luna Literary, for the advance reader copy ebook for Overdrive!

"Last chance to back out, love."
"Not a chance in hell."

Callum Fraser is a 4x world champion F1 racer back for another season, and Aurelie Dubois is the rookie with a hell of a history. What neither of them expected? They've been lowkey obsessed with each other for years. This season is packed with rivalry, secrets, obsession, and temptation that neither of them can ignore.

Now, I’ll be honest... I know nothing about F1, I didn't even know the engines were in the back. But Caitlyn clearly did her homework, because the racing scenes were incredible. I’m not a visual reader, but I felt like I was in that car. Taking turns too fast, gripping the steering wheel, hearing the engine roar behind me, and checking the rearview to see who was gaining.

Callum Fraser is the definition of “I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it.” This man is down bad and completely unhinged in the best way. He’s raw, possessive, obsessive, and 100% unfiltered. Toxic fictional men are some of my favorite and Callum is right up there with the best.

Aurelie Dubois? A straight-up badass. She’s a woman dominating in a “man’s” sport and not just keeping up... she's moving up. Off the track, she’s carrying the weight of the world and a past that’s darker than anyone realizes.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! The racing, the toxicity, the romance (iykyk), and Marco and Kimi? Loved it all. If I could ask for anything, it would be more! More drama, more chaos, more plot. And honestly? I’m counting on the rest of the series to deliver just that!

I was lucky to receive this arc from Luna Literary thankyou allowing me to be an arc reader.

This book releases August 6th.

This book is the first book out 5 of the Speed demons series.

Tropes and trigers are at the end of my review

This is my first f1 romance book and it didn't disappoint

I was hooked from the beginning I was really entranced while reading the race.

I liked  that both the mmc and fmc were drivers along side each other

Overall I think it was a great start to the series as it had me on the edge of my seat while reading it. That ending 🥵🥵

Triggers

Infidelity (not between the main characters, but it impacts their world)

Miscarriage,

 pregnancy loss, and infertility

 Difficult family dynamics

 (strained parental relationships, pressure, expectations).

Emotional and psychological manipulation (not between the main characters, but it plays a role in the story

High-pressure competitive environments Relationship

 trauma

 Themes of isolation

 anxiety

  feeling unseen

 Moments of panic

emotional spirals

 self-doubt

Rivals-to-lovers (with tension so thick you’ll need a chainsaw)

Forced proximity (because nothing says ‘I hate you’ like breathing the same air every day) High-stakes competition (but who’s really keeping score?)

Worship-level devotion (read: borderline obsession)

Praise kink (good girl/good boy energy is strong in this one)

Possessiveness (protectiveness, jealousy, and a need to claim)

Emotional & physical surrender (the kind that ruins you)

Forbidden desire (the kind you know you shouldn’t want, but do anyway)

Soft moments hidden in all the intensity (because breaking walls down is sexy too)

Biting (because Callum is the type to leave his mark—literally)

Power plays & control shifts (AKA switch behavior, because sometimes you give in, and sometimes you take what you want)

A magnetic push-and-pull dynamic that results in equal parts “winning” and “losing”

This book hooked me from the START! You guys I have a slight obsession with cars outside of books so when I saw this I knew I had to read it but it took me by total surprise!

The details on this book are immaculate. You don't need to know F1 because Caitlyn wrote a phenomenal glossary to help you navigate. Then did an even BETTER job with the details of this book!

This is a 4/5 ⭐ read and the spice is spicing with a 4/5 🌶️

The tension is something else. There is so much back and forth, drama, and it takes forever for these characters to make up their dang kinda but when it all happens it is totally worth it. 🥵

I love everything about this book and I can't WAIT to dive into the rest!

So, what will you get with this book you ask?

🏁 rivals to lovers
🏎️ formula 1 racers
🏁 forbidden desire
🏎️ forced proximity
🏁 slow burn
🏎️ praise kink
🏁 secret longing + obsession

Overdrive by Caitlyn P. Tajon eARC review 🏁🩷

I am blown away by how much I loved this book.

The banter, the longing, the obsession…. Oh my gosh, it is all SO GOOD! I was literally hooked from the moment that I picked up the book.

Callum and Aurelie are so drawn to one another but….being formula 1 rivals, Aurelie trying to prove herself instead of being in her brothers shadow and Callum wanting to give her the opportunity to do that… it is the perfect storm.

Their chemistry is undeniable, the spice is insane and the entire book had me wanting more.

I cannot wait for more of their story and more of Caitlyn’s writing! 😍

What to expect:
🏁rivals to lovers
🏁formula 1 racers
🏁forbidden desire
🏁forced proximity
🏁slow burn

🏁secret longing

*this book ends on a cliffhanger- book 2, Close Contact releases September 3rd!

LEFT ON A CLIFFHANGER!!!!!!!

This was such an awesome concept for a book in which the FMC, Aurelie, is the only female in the formula 1 league and is competing to be the best! I loved the aspect that she is the rookie and is fighting for her spot and to win each race against all the men. She is confident and fierce but also sweet. She is also lonely and trying to live up to her brother’s reputation, who was also a driver but was hurt in another formula 1 race. Aurelie is competing against one of the best, Callum Fraser. The tension between them was perfect and I liked how the author kept this a slow (but tension filled) burn. It made the reader focus on the storyline and their competitiveness to win. It’s the second half that disappointed me.

On a positive note, I enjoyed how we got to envision each race and travel the world with Aurelie. The settings were so unique and I loved learning about each place! Even learning about formula 1 racing was exhilarating.

60% of book is where it all went downhill (as if we switched authors) and the story fell a little flat for me. Once the romance between, Aurelia and Callum starts the plot is over. The next 30% is all smut and it just ruined the story. Plus, the author continued to bring up the power dynamic that she was the rookie and he was the star driver. It made me feel icky.

Also the fact that I went into this book not knowing it was a continue series, so I was left on a cliffhanger. I wish the author removed some of the extra smit . I think it would have been an exceptional read if we focused on more of the plot than the romance. At times the story and characters felt one dimensional and I wanted to learn way more about the MMC and FMC background, rather than the hints here and there. Maybe it’s too set up for the next book but I was left defeated after the story “ended”. And I’ve read two other F1 stories that were executed way better.

Let me start by saying that this isn't your typical F1 series. Here, we have 5 books about ONE COUPLE. So, get ready for endings where you'll throw everything up in the air! The protagonists are Callum (four-time world champion) and Aurélie, the newcomer (who replaces his twin brother).

I can say there's plenty of tension (which, in my opinion, is better than spicy). They're both rivals and have had a crush on each other for practically centuries. As for the book itself, since it's the first of 5, it might feel slow, but the TENSION is worth it.

I'll do a full review when the others are published. I want to fully understand the characters and the story before I give my opinion.

Thank you for accepting this arc!

I am struggling to explain how I felt about this book.

I will say it is one of the better F1 romance books I’ve read. It reads very accurately and you can tell the author loves F1 and did her research.

However, should this be a 5 book series?! No. I can tell that this has been lengthened to become 5 from one.

The author starts with short chapters over a short period of time jumping between the two POVs. Then all of a sudden we have 5 chapters to go through one evening!?

Ironically I was enjoying the quick chapters and time, it gave me the chance to slowly get to grips with these characters but they were not fully fleshed out yet. So then once they were together for longer the book started to fall apart. The conversations made little critical sense and the emotional flip flopping didn’t make sense either. (You can’t have the MMC say your mine and I’m not letting you go then next chapter be conflicted about his whether to keep seeing her. It just doesn’t give the tension you think it does)

I’m not sure if I will read the rest of the series, I did think it was standalone and I’m not sold on 4 more books of this….

But I can see why others would enjoy this.

Also I really don’t like when books reference social media by name… it’s soo icky

Aurélie and Callum are so hot together, the slow burn with their banter and the steamy scenes are everything. Then there’s Aurélie’s fiery nature & Callum’s obsessive and possessive nature, they love to go head to head with each other. I also loved how they were both obsessed with one another for years, how Callum helps Aurélie with her trust & low self-esteem issues, and how Aurélie made Callum feel more. This book was so very detailed, has a great plot, storyline, amazing characters & side characters, and I applaud Caitlyn for researching to make the details of the book as factual as could be. And even though I hate cliffhangers I am dying to read the next book in the series. Loved, loved, loved this!!

ARC Review

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Overdrive is a slow burn Formula 1 romance filled with so much tension and angst that it could light up the race track with the strike of a match.

Aurélie, a rookie driver, is trying to right her place in the world of F1 while also fighting her attraction to her rival, Callum. With a mutual attraction and even a slight obsession on Callum’s part, these two bring plenty of chemistry and banter on and off the track.

One thing is for sure! I can’t wait to have more of Callum and Aurélie after the way this book ended.

I would like to thank Caitlyn P. Tajon and Hambright PR for the opportunity to read and review Overdrive.

What to expect when reading Overdrive;
-Forced Procimity
-Enemies x Lovers
-Formula 1
-Forbidden Romance

As an F1 girlie, anytime I see a formula one book I’m going to read it without question!🙌

This is book one in the Speed Demons series that follows Aurelie and Callum journey. This is a slow burn so buckle up because DRS isn’t used here lol Where do I even begin!!!! Aurelie has so much on the line and is Callum worth the risk? To some this up in one word would be TENSION and a lot of it! From beginning to end you could feel this hot, spicy tension between these two and gosh did it melt me!🫠 One thing I loved was even though it was detailed about Formula 1, if you have no background knowledge in it, it’s still easy to follow and get into the story. I honestly can’t wait for book two and three and four and five because I just know their journey is gonna be a roller coaster and I’m strapped in ready for this ride!

Side notes:
-Her & her brothers relationship
-Race play by play

•”sweet dreams lover boy”
•”why are you looking at me like you want me to ruin you”
•”because of anything, I’m more afraid of you thank you are of me.”

ARC Review: 5⭐️
Overdrive is book 1 in the Speed Demons series featuring Callum Fraser & Aurélie Dubois.

After her brother suffers a career ending injury, Aurélie is brought onto the F1 circuit as a rookie driver. Callum is a four time champion and at the top of the circuit. He’s been following her career in F2 for years and can’t ignore his attraction to her.

Aurélie has had a poster of Callum on her bedroom wall for years and has always looked up to him. From the start she wants to make a name for herself in F1 and challenges him at every turn.

The chemistry between them is explosive and all it will take is one match to light the fire. However, will things come to a screeching halt when fans start to question Aurélies future on the circuit, and her involvement with Callum?

Holy. Shit. This book, these characters and everything are absolutely phenomenal. The story ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for book 2 to land in my grabby hands! This is a five book series and all will be about Callum and Aurélie, so I already know Caitlyn is going to put us through the wringer but I’m excited to be on tbis journey !

Thank you Caitlyn for allowing me to be on your team and for the ARC opportunity!
