How would the lives of Elizabeth and Darcy change if there were a little less prejudice and a lot more pride on both sides? With both of them coming from equally illustrious backgrounds, their original obstacles do not count for much. But, that does not mean that new problems do not arise.
In Evenly Matched, watch our beloved couple struggle through these fresh new challenges and find their happily ever after.
This is a work of fiction, and as such, there are a few minor historical inaccuracies present for the sake of the plot. Please do not take it too seriously—just enjoy the story!
So many open questions at the end: What happened to Jane/Bingley? How did Kitty get out of her situation? Why is AdB unhappy with her life? How is Rosings being run? What about Collins? etc. etc. etc.
I loved this « Elizabeth is not a Bennet » well-connected story. No real angst and mostly no over the top villains. I liked how ODC were friends first. Great characters and a lovely story. Highly recommend.
The premise of the “Elizabeth is not a Bennet” trope was interesting and somewhat well executed. Until it was not…
Why paint a situation where Lizzy is a Bennet niece, spending a month a year as a guest in Longbourn, a beloved niece & cousin, if a bit later, when she moves back to her aristocratic grandparents in London, she will forget and ignore her Hertfordshire relations to the extent of snubbing them by not inviting any of them to her wedding???
The love story had an easy start, hardly a glitch in the couple’s coming together… until a very farcical situation happens towards the end (when Lady Catherine shows up raising trouble like a criminal villain)
I am not a fan of over-the-top turns where there are kidnappings, attempted murder, or such criminal scenarios out of the blue…
- Darcy and Elizabeth's romance was cute. Fast, but cute.
- Darcy's proposal was probably my favorite scene🫢. It's rare to find a story in which Darcy mentions his true feelings for Elizabeth during a dutiful proposal.
I enjoyed the story and the development of the characters. I gave 4 stars because I LOVE my epilogue!and there was none! What happened to everyone? Who married who? kids?Sorry just a quirk of mine but I really enjoy that.
What a wonderful change from the usual P&P variations. Less angst and more character. More could have been made of Hala, Caroline, and, Lady de Bourgh, but it was enough. I am still wondering about Jane and Mr. Bingley. More is less I guess.
A nicer Darcy meets an Elizabeth who is a well-born cousin of the Bennets and their romance progresses nicely at Netherfield. Her family has some objections and Lady Catherine tries some tricks, but a happy ending. Needs better proofreading.
I enjoyed reading this book because it is well written and great storyline. Very imaginative and unique. Loved it and happy to say it is one of the best story I have read recently.
Overall an easy read, Darcy and Elizabeth get their HEA despite plots against them. Story lines were breezed over or left without conclusion and the ending felt rushed
I did enjoy the book some what but it leaves you wondering about Jane, Charlies, and the rest. I give this read a 3 3\4 because of the questions I'm left with no answers.
