A thousand years ago, the Andanai Empire crushed wild magic when they sundered the skies.
Fifteen years ago, they killed my father as an apostate. Now they're after me.
For half my life, I've hidden in plain sight after my father's death. I've kept myself safe by following their rules. Never reach for the skies, only alchemy. Regulated magic, controlled and choked of its wildness.
But then he found me.
With eyes like smoke and the smile of a wolf, Conn charmed me. Courted me for a night. And betrayed me to the empire.
I've never knowingly touched wild magic, but now? Now they force me into terrible trials to earn even a chance at a life in service to the empire's twisted whims. No wilders ever survive. And the trials are far from the only danger.
In a city where caprice and cruelty rule, as a wilder in the empire's crosshairs, I'm vulnerable. Unprotected.
As the right hand of the empire's sadistic Whisperer, Conn's claim on me might keep me safe--but it might cost my heart.
I can trust no one except the one person who betrayed me first, and if I want to survive, I have to become what my enemies fear.
A sweeping epic fantasy romance, Wilder crafts a world of dangerous magic, near-extinct dragons, enemies to lovers in forced proximity, and broken souls tied together by fate.

I loved this story. it had everything I was looking for, magic, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, he falls first, suspense, questions and answers. all with great story telling, setting and plot. an added bonus for me was the main characters are in their 30s rather than teenagers. I really recommend this i love Eala but I really love Conn.
it's been a long time since I've enjoyed a book so much. I was surprised at its size when it arrived but it quickly became clear that every element of this story is weighed, measured, and essential. Pure alchemy of a book, and as a Scot in diaspora it sings to me like an sruth. I'll be recommending it to everyone I know.
