Looking for a laugh out loud romcom that reminds us that mother-daughter relationships are a beautiful mess, and perfect love can blossom between imperfect people?
Get ready for an enemies-to-lovers story that will make you laugh, cry, and laugh until you cry.
Award-winning author of romantic comedies, Terra Weiss brings heart, humor, and happy endings to each of her books. She grew up in a small town in Idaho, but now lives in Atlanta with her mad scientist husband, wacky and wonderful mother, spunky daughter, and the feral ten-pound dogs who run her house. She enjoys jogging at a snail's pace, reading, and piling bright orange mountains of squeezy cheese on her crackers.
Crazy but lots of fun: I enjoyed this lighthearted and fun story even if it was sometimes a little outrageous. It held my attention throughout and the pacing was excellent. Despite their undeniable connection, Sophie and Lucas were rivals as they each sought to advance their pet fashion lines. It was fun watching them battle each other and love until finally both coming out victorious. Of course they had the help of a wacky meddling mother but her intentions were in the right place! I enjoyed meeting this group of friends and would be interested in carrying on with the rest of the books in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a delightful romp that was true to its title: a laugh-out-loud comedy. So much more than a romance, it's about friendship and mother/daughter relationship (and don't forget the dogs!). I LOVED the mom (possibly I identified with her a bit *too* much as my parenting style could be unconventional at times AND I was the only mom picking up kids from practice or church on a motorcycle!) and I think it was hilarious that she befriended the 'competition' Lucas - and that there's this big-time CEO talking astral planes with her! I often miss getting one character's point of view in first-person single POV stories like this, but in this case I only missed Lucas' inner thoughts a *little* bit because Sophie's unrelenting capers were so entertaining. The sexy stuff was all fade-to-black and that was okay (appreciated, even) because it wasn't the main focus of their growing relationship. Lucas was so SWEET, even though he tried so hard to compartmentalize the business and his personal feelings... and then there were the over-the-top dog personalities. Enjoyed every minute!
Not all Romantic comedies live up to the description, but this book definitely does! It’s funny and witty, and has a colourful cast of characters who don’t mind making fools of themselves.
Sophie is set for a promotion at the company she works for, designing and making pet wear, and has her presentation ready for the Board Meeting that she hopes will win her the VP position. Unfortunately, her presentation, including her designs, has been stolen by a colleague, who passes the work off as her own, and wins the promotion for herself.
Sophie has few options available to her, so ends up staying with her Mom in her Winnebago whilst she considers her future, and tries to sort out her life.
Her Mom is fearless and outrageous, and becomes the ringleader of a select group who aid and abet Sophie as she tries to start her own business, whilst earning a pittance working at a local Pet Rescue.
Cue madcap schemes, gate crashing events, including weddings, and rescuing pets from hot vehicles, alongside a budding romance between Sophie and her former boss.
The Star of the book, in my opinion, is Sophie’s Mom, who made me laugh out loud at her audacity in coming up with ideas to get Sophie’s life and career back on track. This is a great start to a series, and I’m looking forward to reading more from the author.

I loved this book! Perfectly titled, this book is a laugh a paragraph. Sophie’s problems only just began when her mom crashes her BIG presentation at work. Her mom, a colorful drifter is hardly fazed when Sophie is forced to move in with mom and her quirks. Strongly recommend!
I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
Sophie works in Production for a fancy pet wear company, Fur Bebé. She’s actually very good at her job, loves animals and is all geared up for a presentation before the Board of her company when she just finds out that a young ‘Influencer’ Missy has completely stolen her entire idea and plan. ᗒ ͟ʖᗕ Wow! Talk about taking all the wind out of her sails! Basically from then on, all the dominoes started to fall, and the chain effect not in Sophie’s favor. She’s suddenly without a job, a place to live and she’s broke. Now, moreover, we meet her mother, Skye. She’s a wacky lady. She says she’s psychic, can speak with animals and aliens and does weird things that she goes ‘undercover’ to do. Basically, she embarrasses Sophie most of the time, but with Sophie’s job loss, Sophie must move in with her mom in her Winnebago.
Oh! I forgot to mention Lucas. He’s the brand-new CEO of Fur Bebé and nephew of one of the Board members. Yes he had to fire Sophie, yes she’s very upset, but he’s just learning the job… He’s wildly attractive and very smart, but the two of them are on again – off again friends? Between Sophie, Skye, Lucas and some of Sophie’s friends, there is quite a lot going on. Sophie is determined to launch a new pet clothing line RezQ. They are pulling out all the stops to try to get it going. With all the effort she and her friends are putting into her being successful, Missy and Fur Bebé are putting an equal amount into making certain she fails.
All right, I chose this story initially because it sounded fun and because the blurb said it was a Romantic Comedy and a reviewer said Sophie was ‘hilarious. I have never read anything from Ms. Weiss so I was hoping to get a good laugh from this book. The first time Sophie and Lucas meet is amusing for sure, but when Missy turns out to have stolen her work and Sophie gets fired, I almost stopped reading. I read a different book for a while then returned to this one. I did not laugh until Chapter 10, so I was already getting frustrated with the story. I felt like I was slogging through the first half of this book and kept wondering where the comedy was. Look, I didn’t hate this story, but I also didn’t really feel more than ‘Like’ for it either. It seemed to have tighter writing the last quarter of the book, and that was the part I actually liked. Humor, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. I know others have thought this was incredibly funny, but I’m afraid I did not.
Book 1 in Weiss' Wingmom Stories. This book was so much fun to read! Funny with so much wit and characters that I can relate to - who somehow make a fool of themselves and really just don't care much in the end. This is Sophie and Lucas' story and wonderfully entertaining as Sophie's mom is really the showstopper in this read. So much fun - captivated from the start with great storyline flow. Laughs abound in this perfect rom-com. I couldn't get enough and now I can't wait for more!

I really enjoyed this unique rom-com! The mother/daughter dynamic was the main relationship and I couldn’t help but imagine Briga Heelan and Andrea Martin in the tv show Great News, which cracked me up! If you enjoy that show, or ironic humor in general, this will be right up your alley.
Side note: The only reason I didn’t give this five stars is because of Lucas’ character and his strange responses to some things. I felt he could have been a much better character/love interest.

This was a special treat. It was outrageous, hilarious, and heartwarming. Although there was a romance the best relationship was between pet fashion designer Sophie and her P.I. mom Skye. Skye has always been a little unique and often embarrassing but without a doubt has always had Sophies back. When Sophies coworker steals her designs, her reputation, and her promotion a lot of help is needed to get her out of this nightmare. Don't worry, her wingmom is there for the rescue. The characters were great and so were the dogs!
This is the craziest book I've read all year. And it's so funny!
I don't know exactly why I didn't rate it higher. I can't explain it in any other way than it felt like a 4.25*.
I had so much fun with this crew, waiting to know what they would do next. Mom is just a weird and adorable character.
Sophie Fox is unfairly fired from the job she dedicated her last years. But she won't go down without a fight. She'll do whatever she can so her dog clothing line will be successful. And who better to help her than her mom Skye, best friend Riley, best friend's cousin West, almost sister Eva (don't ask, go with the flow), and Lucas Nevarez - the new CEO of the company she worked for (???).
Well, believe me when I say they are incredible people but they are all crazy. All of them, some just a bit, but all.
And we have lots of dogs and dog-related parts in this story. Sophie had Notorious D-O-G but he went away with her job, there are dog events like birthdays and marriages, Skye has a weird dog and gets more during the book, Sophie works at an animal shelter, there's a dog fashion show, and a dog-related conspiracy is uncovered! You get the idea… Or not.
Lucas bothered me a bit with being a good person most of the time and a stupid and mean one sometimes. But all turned out fine in the end so it's ok…
I'm not sure if I should bring up aliens but there's also one in the book. Just so you understand that I'm not exaggerating when I tell you this is one crazy story.
I just showed you information worth one of Skye's nails. Wait until you find out about the whole Skye! It's gonna be awesome! You don't know where you are getting into…
And that fatherhood twist? Loved it!

This is my first time reading something by this author and it certainly won't be my last. What a fun story this was! It had me laughing out loud so many times and with such a colorful and charming cast of characters, I was completely hooked till the end. Sophie is trying to get a promotion at work and has her presentation ready to go. Then she finds out that her ideas were stolen by a colleague who passes them off as their own and gets the promotion instead. Things just continue to go downhill from there as she loses her job and her home. She then has no choice but to move in with her zany and eccentric mom. Then the fun begins as Sophie sets out to clear her name and get her life back on track and she couldn't ask for a better confidante than her crazy but loving mom. Lucas and Sophie start out as rivals as she embarks on a new business and Lucas is her competition. But that rivalry soon turns to an attraction that grows strong between them. I really enjoyed them together. They had such sparkling chemistry and the witty banter between them was just so much fun! This was a fun, lighthearted, entertaining story and I am glad to have had the opportunity to read it. I look forward to reading more of this author's books soon! I received a complimentary copy from StoryOrigin and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Very slow beginning…. BUT wow what a quirky read… I really liked the characters and what's not to like about dogs! By the end of the book I was hoping for more and to see it say book 1 made my day. Just as Sophie begins to turn her life around and gets answers from her ancestry DNA test thing- that was one thing I could really relate to as I was without my dad and met him only to feel rejected - thankful that isn't the case today.
Anyway, found very corny and lots of chuckles and a few laugh out loud moments. Look forward to reading more and see what is brought to Lucas; Sophie; Eva; Reilly, Ted and even Misty…
BTW this was a clean read…

Wingmom is a funny, heartfelt, emotional, romance that had me laughing out loud, crying and at one point yelling at the characters. It is a great read and had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved the characters- Mom was AMAZING. She was hilarious, outrageous, a little crazy and totally supportive of Sophie. And Sophie is a bit type A, completely dedicated, passionate, and like many ladies not always confident in herself personally speaking. Lucas is strong, loyal and passionate but he is also conflicted. The side characters are also beautifully written to bring the story to life.
The plot of this novel is absolutely phenomenal. It is written in a way that keeps the reader engaged and laughing and at times crying and completely rooting for some characters successes and others failures. This is the book of the season, maybe the year for the Rom Com genre!

I was not expecting this story from the description of the story. This was so much better than what described. There was hard work and triumph. There was romance. There was wit and humor. And really great characters. Looking forward to Book 2. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An Outrageously wonderful read that pulled out so many different emotions as I read it. My sides hurt finishing this book from all the laughing I did. I can’t quite figure out if Terra Weiss is a comedy genius or has a mad scientist’s mind, but the plot of this book is brilliantly entertaining and cookie in all the best ways. If you have ever wondered if your mom is an off-her-rocker or an eccentric genius who has your back in life – this is a story for you.
Sophie used to her mum’s eccentricities - from late night phone calls to moan about not being invited to doggy weddings, undercover PI investigations, and turning up at her daughter’s workplace dressed in a cherry-red dominatrix outfit, complete with spikes and chains. Her mom has never been average and while it is a little mortifying, she would not change her mom for the world as she is just the woman she needs at her side to win back her creditability and reputation after her work nemesis stole her pitch for the Fur Bebe’s board and new CEO. Instead, she was fired and forced to give up custody of the company’s spokes-pup, Notorious D-O-G.
Set against the cutthroat industry of Doggy High Fashion. Sophie works to clear her name by establishing her pet brand that cares for the well-being of its customers. She’s willing to do whatever takes with her mom’s help to prove her innocent and show her ideas off.
I didn’t think this was an enemy to lovers' romance. There is a bit of tension between Sophie and Lucas, with one scene that seems to set them on opposite sides of the line. However, these two are not the traditional definition of enemies with hate vibes and nasty bitterness that some more stories within this trope come with. Characters are relatable and sweet. Sophie and Lucas have a cute sort of chemistry vibe going on but it was the b-plot of the book but does come with a cute HEA ending. It was the mother-daughter relationship taking on the world with a bucket full of crazy that made the book for me. I love the wingmom - she stole the show!

Trying to earn a promotion, designer Sophie Fox needs her presentation to “knock the socks off” of the Board with her new outfits for pets. Instead, a colleague stole everything, claimed the designs as hers, and snatched up the promotion. Now broke, Sophie moves into her mom’s Winnebago and is encouraged to push ahead and start her own business. Lucas, a fair and honest man, becomes friends with Sophie and her ever-energetic mom. What will her future hold for her with the friends and family who are always there for her and cheering her on?
There is never a dull moment, and there is always a dog around to brighten things up. Grab your copy and see how it all turns out for Sophie.
Not usually a romcom reader: that's me. But once I opened this one, which a friend sent to me, I didn't stop reading. Sometimes I laughed out loud, but I particularly like the way the story deals with real issues such as the joys, or not, of growing up with a single parent. It's heartfelt as well as funny, and I found myself wanting to know what would happen next to all the characters - particularly the heroine and her quirky mom. Keep an eye out for the twists along the way!
Overall, I think this was a great story, even if it seemed a bit far fetched at times. I felt that it skipped around a bit in between chapters and then would quickly give information to fill in the gaps. I also wish the leads would have had more interaction together? The book started off really promising, but kind of fizzled for me.

I really enjoyed this! Wonderful characters that are extremely well written and the storyline was fantastic! A wonderful blend of family, friends and real love all tied together with a mystic little bow! ;)

This has to be one of the worst books I’ve read so far in 2022! The storyline is really awful; the characters struck me as basically stupid right from the start—and got worse as the story progressed; plot twists and turns were practically nonexistent; and the HEA was meh. I don’t think this book is for everyone. It certainly didn’t live up to the hype—in my book. Hopefully you’ll like it more than I did. Give it a read and decide for yourself. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and really didn’t care for it.) 🫤
Sophie works at a company which makes outfits for Doggo's, but loses her job when she is accused of stealing and is asked to leave the company. It is there she meets Lucas who is the new CEO of the company.
😊What i liked -
✔ Romantic Comedy/Enemies to Lovers. ✔ I Loved the Mother Daughter relationship in this. (hilarious and heartwarming). ✔ I absolutely loved Lucas and Sophie's banter and the way they fight their attraction. ✔ I LOVED the party crasher scenes. ✔ I cried in this book but it was mostly because I was laughing out so loud (all thanks to the wackadoodle mom). She was by far the most entertaining character in the book.
🤔What could have been better -
✔ Even though I enjoyed the book so much I felt the romance got a little lost.(even though it's a closed door romance book).
📚Who Should read :
👶Beginners 💝Romance Lovers 😆Rom-Com Lovers
📈My Rating : 4/5
P.s- The star of the book is the Mom. She absolutely stole the show.
A new Terra Weiss book?! And it isn’t even my birthday!
In Wingmom, pet wear designer Sophie Fox works hard to secure a promotion at Fur Bebe, but when her presentation is sabotaged, she ends up with no job and no apartment. Luckily, her kooky PI mom Skye is in town! Sophie moves into her mom’s Winnebago as she gets her own pet line going, one that will also help shelter animals. The hot new CEO of Fur Bebe seems like he is in Sophie’s corner and there is an instant connection there. He even becomes close with Skye! But an undercover mission gone awry puts everything in jeopardy.
My mom is not nearly as eccentric as Sophie’s mom, Skye. That would be impossible. But I found myself thinking about her while reading Wingmom. She also is a single mom who sacrificed so much for me. She is the coolest, most amazing person I know, and watching Sophie realize that about her own mom made me cry. Becoming an adult and fully realizing what your parent did for you is hard. Realizing what they STILL do for you. And this book really captured those feelings for me. Weiss just gets to the heart of things and always makes me cry.
The romance part of Wingmom was great! I loved Lucas. He was so supportive of Sophie right from the beginning and just wanted to be a good person. He was open to new experiences and people and always stood up for what he thought was right. Such a sweetheart. He and Sophie were so good together and I loved watching their instant bonding and attempts to not fall in love.
Also! Sophie and Skye are from Blue Vine!! That made me so happy. Was I hoping for a quick trip to Blue Vine? Yes. But oh well.

Loved loved loved wingmom, could not put it down.It has amazing characters who you will fall in love with, the main characters as well as all the supporting characters too. Sophie has a big heart and wants to support dogs and puppies who need a home and wants to help promote awareness for this. When she loses her job instead of getting the promotion she has fought hard for she is very upset and doesn't know how she will be able to help anymore. She moves in with her Mom as she has nowhere else to go.Their relationship is tested when they start living together in very close quarters, but her mom is the one who encourages her to not lose hope and give up. Her mom becomes friends with Lucas the CEO of fur bebè and who told her to leave and she is not happy. Follow their hilarious antics in this laugh out loud romcom as Sophie tries to get her job back and the support she gets from her Mom and friends as well as Lucas. You will want to root for their happily ever after as they both try to overcome their fears and keep from getting hurt. I will not say anymore incase i give away any spoilers. Love Terra's books and have read them all and cannot wait for her next book.

Humorous romance, no steam but lots of passion of all sorts Sophie Fox is a 28yo highly motivated individual hoping her latest doggie designs will catapult her to the Executive Board room of Fur Bebé where she hopes to make a difference. What she doesn’t expect is Missy Mulligan! Sophie has a heart for animals, dogs in particular and wants to make their lives better. She will not be thwarted. She starts her own line of doggie designs at RezQ with a promise that 5% of the proceeds will be donations to help animals. Her exploits introduce us to so many other great characters: her Mom for sure, but also her BFF Riley, Eva her ex-stepsister and not least of all, Lucas Nevarez. Lucas is 32yo, hunky and trying to make a difference too. Ah, the romance part commences. When you least expect it, revelations occur which will knock your socks off. This was undoubtedly the funniest romance I’ve read to date. This would be such a good made-for-TV-movie because it lacks explicit scenes. Romantic in a humorous sort of spontaneous way. Truly enjoyed this story. If you like humor and romance without steamy scenes, read this book. I guarantee you will be intrigued. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
Wingmom Stories: Book 1 A fast paced screwball comedy of a tale.
A great day for Sophie, a big presentation leading to a new job is finally here, then her idea is stolen and she gets fired. The last thing she needs after having being unfairly fired from her pet designer job is help from her whackadoodle mom. But Mom is here to stay and determined to help even though Sophie just wants her to go away. Thus begins a tale of madcap adventures and inspired misfires to try and not only redeem Sophie's rep and get her some lucrative employment, but to exact revenge on her enemies.. But is the sexy new boss for the company who fired her an enemy or not when he seems to be helping her and are why are Mom and her harebrain ideas looking better and better?
This is rollercoaster ride of mischief and madcap adventures that is also a great little tale of love and acceptance. I thouroughly enjoyed this tale from start to finish it is fun and fast paced. A thoroughly enjoyable start to what I think will be a successful new series.
5stars goodreads I received this book for free from Booksiren and am providing a fair and honest review
This is first book in the Wingmom series. Between Sophie's inner dialog and her moms antics, some of which she ropes Sophie and her friends into, I laughed pretty much through out the whole book. I enjoyed watching Sophie discover who she really is and learn to accept her mom in all her uniqueness. Lucas has let business be his whole life but when he meets Sophie he starts to discover that maybe it doesn't have to be that way. Sophie becomes his competition soon after they meet but Lucas can't seem to stay away or stop helping her. Funny and lighthearted, I really hope to see more books in this series.

A slow start getting interested in the story however once I got past the first chapter I was hooked. A very different style with dogs as some of the main characters along side a mother and daughter at odds with each other. The further you get into the book the better it gets, lots of suspense, laughter and tense moments. Pretty happy ending.

Totally off the wall characters and a fun read. A blend of characters that keep you reading. I found relaxing and lighthearted read. This is the first book I’ve read by author Terra Weiss and I can’t wait to read more. What a unique romance read. *I was given a copy and am voluntarily giving my honest review.
Such a funny book! There's so much to love about Wingmom. The dynamic between romantic leads is well developed. And the wing"mom" concept is unique and fun. The mother cracked me up and at the end the mother/daughter relationship was heart touching.
