What I Liked:
1. I like ABBA too
2. Short story
3. Read fast
What I Didn't Like:
1. Being reminded every page Edward works at the Dollar Bin
2. Standard basic things same old same old;
• Poop
• Rape
• Man that's dirty/filthy
3. Ending felt rushed
4. Boring
Overall Thoughts:
{{Disclaimer: I write my review as I read}}
So Edward is mad at women but he's still getting women interested in him despite his gross home but loses them over the music. How odd. I think the only way I wouldn't date someone based on music would be if they listed to rap music and dropped the n-word like it was nothing.
God, his favorite Bee Gees song is Staying Alive. How generic. They have 22 albums and his favorite is the one everyone knows and loves. Maybe he has no personality.
So yeah he's keeping his mother in a freezer and takes her out to rape her corpse. There's a part where he's performing oral sex on her and he says -
Since she tastes like chicken. Yay.
There is no way that this dude could push out a "turd" that's 6 1/2 inches in girth and 11 inches long. Think about that for a moment. There would zero way he's moving afterwards after that. It would blow out his asshole. Oh well he feeds it to that dumb bitch because this is what she deserves trusting someone. Ah.
Love that all the women in this book prove the narrative to the main character that women are so stupid. They just show up to random places at night to met a man they don't know with zero proof who they are. They dress "slutty" for no reason other than to say that's just what dumb stupid whores do.
Would Edward even have to share his handy work with the world? She was screaming and then you have 3 missing women. Women tell others where they are going. How would the police not be at his door already???
So he streams and I guess it's on live for like 20 minutes. Not sure how it wasn't reported and pulled after a few minutes.
So he's going to prison. They didn't even read his rights to him. *shrug*
Final Thoughts:
Honestly Edward couldn't do the things he does to his mother. Rigor mortis sets in within a few hours. Even him freezing her body would only delay it but not stop it from stiffness. There have been studies done on pigs (we use them in forensic studies since they are close to our body) in them being left out to freeze and decomposition still happens. Now he's taking her out of the freezer and defrosting her over and over. He'd have to cut her legs off to even open them. Unless when she died he left her legs opened. Even then there is zero chance to rape her vagina and butthole.
Sigh I wish splatterpunk books had more creative things than poop and rape. It all feels redundant and boring reading the same stuff over and over.
This book is too short to care what happens to the mother, Bailey, or even Edward. I felt absolutely nothing about any of them.
Wasn't written very well. Glad it was free and I didn't pay for it but hey the author got paid for me to read it, so that's something.

I had no idea where this story was going at first, but I definitely didn't expect that. I don’t have any triggers, but what really got me was the turd. I just can’t even... You’ll probably laugh or judge me, because way more heinous stuff happens in this book than a damn turd, but it's what happens with it that makes me want to scream. I gave it 4 stars since I lost count of how many times my eyes went wide at what was happening… it just kept getting more and more gross. I'm going to go yell at my friend now for making me read this with her.

I have no idea what to rate this- I need time to process 🤣
EDIT -
Ok I have now processed and I have to be honest, as much as this is vile, I found it ‘entertaining’ and taking into consideration it’s a very short novella and is marketed as extreme horror, it does what it says on the tin!!
I won’t forget the 11 inch frozen 💩 though- EVER 🤢🤣

Yeah, don’t eat before you read this wild ride! This short read packs a mighty punch. Just when you think it can’t get any worse, Troy says “hold my beer”. A splatterpunk fan’s must-read.

Edward has a hatred for the women who are making it in life. Aka the influencers and the pretty girls. He’s had enough and he wants to do something about it. His dismembered mum in the freezer though? Don’t mind her.
Getting to know little bits about Edward and what he likes to do with his mother is rough. This is one you wanna check triggers on! The torture he subjects one of the victims to may live in my head rent free for a little while. You know what you are getting to when you see what he does with his mum but regardless I wasn’t prepared for the one of the victims 😂
Only reason this isn’t a 5* is because a couple victims was very much the same and would have liked to see every victim having their own signature ending.
The ending was realistic which we don’t always get in books of this kind! Would have loved to see more of Edward’s antics!

This was my cherry being popped in the genre of splatterpunk and I am not disappointed. It is very short at just 27 pages but let me tell you those 27 pages take you on one hell of a ride.
This book is everything that it says that it is and leaves no room for guesses. Please please please read the blurb before jumping in because it is every bit the gnarled, gore it proclaims to be.
With that being said, Edward is a sad strange little man. LOL no seriously he is lonely, working a dead end job, with quite the eccentric taste in music and a little obsessed with his mother. Sounds like a psycho right? Yea, I know.
He is batting 0 for 1000 in the world of dating because the women can’t get past the disaster that is his apartment. One can only be rejected so many times before they finally snap. And snap he did.
Edward now turns his focus on the picture perfect lives of women influencers who post their post lavish lifestyles online. He wants to teach them a lesson, not like they’ll live to learn it but he’ll savor every moment while it lasts.
Troy, my guy, what the actual f*k LMAO.

A slick, savage plunge into madness
A dark, twisted descent into obsession and depravity that doesn’t hold back for a second. Edward, a disco-loving outcast with deeply disturbing tendencies, becomes consumed by his disdain for the shallow personas he sees online. Driven by a warped sense of morality and the lingering influence of his deceased mother, he takes it upon himself to “cleanse” the world in the most grotesque ways imaginable.
What unfolds is a fast-paced, deeply unsettling read that leans fully into its shock value while still managing to be wildly entertaining. It’s bold and unapologetically extreme, perfect for readers who crave horror that pushes every boundary.
The cucumber will haunt me.

Well… this one was a doozie. 😅
Read the trigger warnings — I’m serious. They are VERY important.
And whatever you do… do not eat while reading. NO snacks. I repeat — NO SNACKS. 🤢
This is splatterpunk. It is what it is. If it’s not your tea… don’t drink it.
Another solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me.
Kept me fully entertained while I soaked in the bath. It grossed me out exactly the way splatterpunk is supposed to.
And yes… I absolutely gagged at that 💩 scene. Thought to myself... why do I read these books😂

What Did I just read???
I thought I was desensitized, due to the kind of reading I choose- so the trigger warnings didnt bother me at all. Reading the graphic details was wild. I absolutely loved it. Troy Poppler, if you happen to come across this review please know that you have an amazing way wih words. I enjoyed the playlist; that added to the experience that will forever stick with me.

Absolutely Sickening
Do not read this if you have a weak stomach. I’ve read quite a few books by Troy Poppler and this is by far the most messed up one.
Edward…Edward has mommy issues. And pretty famous girl issues. Lots of issues. And how does he deal with these issues? Read to find out if you dare and can stomach it.

Well in 27 pages we got a masterclass in gore and the inhumane
Edward is what Martin from the human centipede is like if he cared about popularity the pacing and the descriptions were completely unhinged and I absolutely loved it!
This is my first read of Troy’s work but it certainly won’t be my last there are too many trigger warnings to name but go in with an empty stomach,

We follow Edward, a 50 odd year old man who absolutely hates women, apart from his mother. He LOVES his mother.
Hatching up a plan to unalive these women, he decides to 'visit his mum' before he carries out his heinous act.
I lost count of the mount of times I was almost sick reading this. It's disgusting, horrendous and 2 sentences did actually make me laugh...
Chicken nuggets, and fish face.
So if you want to be completely horrified and disgusted, check out this book for a quick, gruesome read.

Speechless, disgusted, shocked??? I asked my friend for a quick, mind fuck read to get me out my slump and this is what she recommended! I just don't have the words to describe how absolutely fucked up this read is, but I couldn't stop reading. Props to the author for making me gag and question my own sanity! It definitely gave me Ed Gein vibes too bc what the actual helly🤣 If you're looking for a short book, that gives disgusting, serial killer vibes, then I highly recommend 😆

Another great book from Troy Poppler - Author .... Definitely a book that's NOT for everyone. Murder, gore, questionable sexual acts but extremely well written and kept me engaged through the entire story! Will definitely purchase the paperback when available to add to my collection!

Whoo, man, that was a bit…much. Didn’t take long to get to some, um, extreme parts. If you’re weak stomached, or willed. This IS NOT for you. Had to put down in fear of my kid seeing, or my wife thinking I’m sick for reading it. Dark and extreme, and worth the quick read.
June 8, 2025
I’m not sure what I just read, but honestly it kept my attention. It was wild, but definitely kept me turning pages to see what was next.
Is definitely not going to be for everyone. Enter with caution, but also enjoy the ride.

Meet Edward , an Incel of a man that loves his mother and disco music. He’s had dates in the past that never amounted to anything ,so Edward finds himself watching reels. He wants to make his own reel. In just 27 short pages Poppler has managed a brutal and gut churning story .

Disgusting, horrific, a little funny in places
We follow Andrew who is a 50 odd year old male who absolutely hates woman, apart from his mum who he LOVES.
He has a plan to 'unalive' the women he detests, but before he does so, he 'goes to see his mum'.
This book is downright disgusting and had me feeling sick to my stomach. There were however, 2 sentences that made me laugh which included chicken nuggets and fish face.
A short quick read that really lacks a punch. 🤮

Well, I don't really know what to say 🤣 9 pages in, and I was in hysterics over what I was reading. Proper Norman Bates vibes. However, I couldn't stop reading it. Laughing, cringing, and slightly disturbed in 27 pages, this book made me feel a lot. but most importantly, for some reason, I think I can still eat chicken nuggets 😂. It did exactly what it intended, and 3 days later, I'm still thinking, talking, and laughing about this book. It was my first extreme horror, and it won't be my last. For the fact I'm still thinking about this book it's star rating deserves to go up 😆

Twisted
This has to be the most twisted and depraved book I have read so far this year.
This one will make you cringe, laugh, and want to vomit all at the same time. If you are into extreme horror/splatter punk then this quick read is for you.

WTF 🤣 listen, a horror / splatterpunk should not make me laugh like this one did. Full blown depravity from start to finish. Edward does NOT like instagram influencers but he does like his mom and some chicken nuggets.
