Of course, the book is very interesting, I read it in one night. I think it will be very useful for both beginners and professionals. For true poker connoisseurs, it will be great, because there are little tricks that will help you become a poker guru, and for a beginner, it will be a guide to playing poker. The math side of card games intrigues me, so I've always been a fan of blackjack. I'm intimidated by table games, though, and it's hard to find a good video blackjack game these days. And even when you find one, card counting is laborious and imprecise because you don't see the deck being shuffled.

So along comes video poker, and now there's a new math game in town, only this time there are certain variants where perfect play can potentially turn the odds in the player's favor. I've never played poker in my life, though, so I came at this as a complete novice. Having said all that, Dan Paymar managed to make the game and the strategies perfectly comprehensible. I recommend reading this book all the way through, but don't worry too much about getting every detail. When you're done, pick one variant you want to make "your" game (I picked Deuces Wild), and then go to http://www.freeslots.com/poker.htm and practice. I love video poker! This is by far the best and most informative book on the subject I have read. It deals with (no pun intended) many different machines as well as bankroll strategy.
The real test comes when using the strategy outlined in this book. Even though we know each event (hand) is a unique random event, the more perfectly you play, the more opportunity for winning hands...
